The important thing here is that they didn't TAKE AWAY anything gameplay-wise when they redid those zones.

Quote:I can agree to this.
In my mind, new contacts, missions, arcs and graphics upgrades to old zones pretty much equate to a new zone. Faultline and the Rikti WZ proved this as far as I'm concerned. New content is the aim. New zones only as far as they become necessary to deliver new content is a bit more realistic. -
Hey PP, the point is over here ------------------------------------------------> . <--------------
you missed it! WHY would the devs simply throw away content that took months and years of their time and effort to create? -
So then all the new players that come in that haven't seen all this content get screwed over and miss all the "old" content just because you're tired of it? That's very diplomatic of you PP.
-
Why would they delete ANYTHING when they can just keep it "hidden" and possibly use it again someday somewhere else?
-
-
But CoH2 would be an "other game" compared to CoH1....
-
I never said that they didn't do more with less Slashman, I'm merely debating that the game "is failing". All evidence points to the contrary.

Issue 12
...and that's NOT including all of the new "map environments" that came with EACH and EVERY new Task Force introduced... nor is it counting the gazillion maps added to the Mission Architect and Ouroboros that players rarely had access to before without specifically looking for them.
That's at least 8 new or revamped zones and DOZENS of new maps.
So... "comparatively little COX has grown since COV in terms of new areas, zones and map environments"? What is your definition of "comparatively ALOT"? The equivalent of a new game added every year like CoV???
Now who has their head in the sand? -

So as most vet players know, Vahzilok zombies are "dumb" ESPECIALLY when their "human" type associates are taken out. New players might not be aware of this, so I figured I'd capture it on video to show them.
So here you go, proof that the V-zoms are dumb as a brick once you take away the brains of the operation.
You will notice that they instantly come after me once I start to attack their "hooman", but once he's dead and I get out of their line of sight, they immediately go from having the intelligence of a chicken to the intelligence of a shoe.
Also note that once this happens, they don't even try to attack me until I'm right ON TOP of them. And attacking one doesn't make the other one want to kill me like it does with every other mob type in the game.
Zombie #2 only starts attacking once I get "too close".
So, why is this? Well there's two possibilities that I can think of:
- Zombies have EXTREMELY low natural perception, and the human types carry with them some sort of inherent Leadership power that increases their perception as long as they are alive.
- The zombies actually have a different AI than the rest of the mobs in the game and are CODED to be "dumber" once the humans are gone.
What do you all think of this? Which do you think is more likely, and finally, how many of you out there DIDN'T know this little facet of the Vahzilok?
By the way, the music was a happy accident, I was listening to KJSR.NET at the time I recorded this. -

Quote:Bored of playing alts through the same old content you've already played a hundred times? Always the same maps and the same enemy placements and the same attack chain?
Bored of redoing the same old TFs on your level 50 over and over and over?
Most of your SG/Coalition/Global is never in game? Game seems so empty?
Can't wait to get your hands on Going Rogue? Refreshing the forums every five minutes in the hopes of getting another new tidbit on the expansion? Disappointed every time?
Do what I'm doing. Take a break from the game.
Seriously. Don't try to think of ways of completely changing the game so it's new for you again. Don't post on the forums lamenting that if only the Devs would implement that one (dozen) feature(s) you want, everything would magically fix itself.
Go find an MMO you haven't played and try it out. There has to be one. Or one you played over a year ago and hated then. You don't have to pay anything, free trials are common, but once you find a game you like, I suggest paying for one or two months and just making that your default game for a while.
Or immerse yourself in a single player game. Dragon Age: Origins, or Torchlight, or even something from Popcap.
Play something new. Something that is not CoH. Make yourself miss it again. Learn a new appreciation for the costume creator and travel powers. When you come back, there will be new things, and there will be old things that seem new again.
Give yourself a break. And CoH, as well.Quote:Steam selling 5 billion games for 10 bucks or under makes it easy to take a break.
I agree with and support these two statements. *goes back to playing Wolfenstein 3D* wheee! Shooting cartoonish Nazis in the face and knifing dogs that bleed ketchup is FUN! -

K that's wicked awesome D_R.
I think the devs should find some sort of use for that room.... let us use it in like a mission or something. -
This and this. Rep is meaningless to me without a centralized location to view all the comments like there used to be. The numbers never matter to me, only the comments. Bring it back!

Something else you should keep in mind that heals are usually the LEAST effective means of keeping yourself and teammates alive in this game. Where in other MMOs they are all about heals, in City of Heroes, it's all about this:
An ounce of PREVENTION is worth a pound of CURE.
And in this case, prevention includes things like controls, buffs, debuffs, etc, etc. Basically anything that stops you from taking the damage in the FIRST place is far preferred to anything that will heal the damage AFTER the fact. Please keep that in mind.
Also it sounds like you are on the 14 day trial. You should buy the game! It's really worth it, even if you're only going to play for a month or two, the cost of the game is basically $5 plus the cost of the first month, which comes "free" when you buy the game. -

Yeah that really sucks hard, but I really don't think this is the place for that... perhaps request a move to "Comic Culture" since it's the "off-topic" board?

Phantom, welcome to CoH, Defenders, and the forums! You should know that there are lots of good guides out there, but most of them are for sets in general, not specific combinations. So your best bet is to go look at all the Empathy guides no matter what the secondary, and then go look at all the Assault Rifle guides. Put the advice from BOTH sets of guides together and it should do you pretty well. Also, check out the Blaster forum for more guides on Assault Rifle, as it was originally a Blaster power that got "proliferated" over to Defenders.

That was cute, thank you.

I hate to say that I agree with the OP. When I see a new holiday event coming, I don't get excited anymore. Heck, I don't even log on half the time.
How about instead of the holiday events being "bigger" and "bigger" every year (which just makes more work for the devs), how about we just have them less and less. They only last for one week, and that's even every OTHER year. Like you'll have Valentine's and Halloween one year and Winter and something else (a summer sandstorm filled with desert monsters?) the other year?
Make them shorter, and you make them more special. Sure some people will get in a tizzy, but those people get upset about every little thing, so frag them.
