I am getting the feeling BS/WP will be enjoyable as I have a char theme in mind for that one. I love high DMG and it sounds like it would suit my 'brute force & ignorance' playstyle
If you could PM me the Mids code that would be great thanks Stryke!
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol @ "brute force and ignorance" I love it - that is almost a perfect description of my BS scrapp Warscythe
And sure ill pm you mate, at work at the moment so you should recieve the build after 6pm when I get home, this PC at work is pants - I swear ... a bloody commodore 64 is better than this cantankerous rubbish
[/ QUOTE ]
Great thanks matey - work PCs are poor - it is taking ages to load forum pages today - if only I could just go home to run it better ...
[/ QUOTE ]
Edited for accuracy
I echo your sentiments mate, how dare they expect me to actually work for my wage
But aye its actually quite a cheap build in comparison to others considering the numbers you get out of it, but enough digressing ill pm it tonight but give me feedback on what you think, if its good enough I may even publically post it, in my own experiences I have had many a fun night wading through mobs without even getting a nick of damage, so just look through it and give me any criticism -
[ QUOTE ]
Yep, it's getting a tweak
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank god, for a moment then I thought I was gonna get carted of to the same funny farm as FFM for a moment there....theres hope for me yet
So that gives some love for my invul brute then ..though to reroll back theres something to be said for WP, I think its the general ease of it, no real activations aside from SoW (which coincidentally works wonders - not as a god mode - but more as a giant BF) so its simply a toggle up/enter/smash all/luagh collective behinds off/exit/rinse and repeat
All we need now for scrapps is SS -
[ QUOTE ]
If you want to be different make an /invulnerability scrapper. Not many around and they actually are good at 50 despite people mocking scrapper /invuln.
[/ QUOTE ]
Plus isnt invul getting a tweak or did I miss that bus?
There are times I am not sure if I imagine threads or am just too hungover on sat mornings to recall anything that doesnt make my brain hurt -

Footnote;
Can they not try better marketing, hardly see anything at all in magazines, or on TV. Have heard it before in a post not sure by whom, can't they sponsor "heroes"? Sure that would make more people aware of the game and possiblely increase the player base.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't think the BBC explicitly takes sponsors for TV shows - so Heroes sponsorship in the UK would seem a non-starter.
I wonder quite what the best timing would be for a marketing campaign given the competition upon the horizon - whether it's better to try grabbing players before the competition lands or wait until after and hope to grab people who were attracted to a superpowered game by the oppositions marketing but then didn't like the game setting/mechanics/play etc...
Either way, I'd hope that we'd see something by way of marketing/advertising. And maybe a new boxset (around I15 if that's a big story issue?) and the resulting magazine reviews could help...
[/ QUOTE ]
I tend to agree here, im not crying DoooM in any way at all but the last few months have seemed a little quieter to me, we have so far lost 8 of our sg regulars to varying reasons, this as i said before is not a doom post more of a constructive observation regarding the marketing side, now currently there is a lot of competition for ad space what with coming up to christmas and the usual november raft of console games screaming for attention for that short fix....
Now ad campaigns are at best a tricky and expensive thing, you have to vie for space and pay out of the nose for it (magazines at least) and you also have to ensure you are hitting your target audience, now NC do do this to a certain extent at comicons / memorabilia events etc but it would be nice to see some page space on mags/internet sites showing new releases etc as it seems outside of the game no one knows where the issues are up to.
For example an old sg bud of mine who left 9 months back was on the phone the other day and it took me nearly 30 minutes to reel through the changes to him, he didnt even know if the game was still running....and he plays a lot online..
So to summise I am only concerned - not about doomsaying dwindling pop - but the fact that we are now seemingly slipping into obscurity as a game, and apart from folks like myself who play this damned game to deaththere are peeps out there who I am sure would dive into our world, so long as someone put up a bloody signpost
((I hope this wasnt seen as a friday flame, but as a bit of observation that is only my opinion, so not meant to ruffle anyones feathers.)) -
I would say it depends on your playstyle, whether you dont mind running endless toggles (wp etc) and whether or not you like quick end low attacks (claws) or slow yet high burst attacks (BS) your going to be going in full steam most of the time so it is all dependant on how you wish to be taking the mobs down.
Personally out of the three scraps I have (two are on my sig) I absolutely adore my BS/WP the last two attacks on BS have stupid burst damage...anyone who has managed to hit a double crit with headsplitter through two enemies will agree it is nigh on a religious experience
And the WP isnt as bad as I originally thought for toggle economy QR/STM is enough to keep you in long drawn out fights...if there was a drawback to this AT combo is that if you exemp for TFs etc I find myself crying like a baby if I dont have my beloved headsplitter /disembowel combo
But again this is drawing off my experiences, plus with me working on his build I have managed to bump his regen past 700+ % and nearly cap his Res/def bear in mind im not an uber player like many out there im only 15 months in so far...but if you wish I can pm you the mids code for you to see for yourself.
Anyway my best advice is to play around untill you figure what style you want to be smashing those mobs around in -

I do have a short temper though... a side I do not like about me, but not that I can ever express it in the way you can with a fictional avatar...ergo expressing these fantastical elements in an RP environment is a kind of cathartic release.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can, very much, take that too far, however. It's very much worth watching. You can end up with everyone else hating your guts while you think it's a fantastic game that lets you sort your head out.
[/ QUOTE ]
I do agree raven but what I was referring to was the fact that with a toon you have a way of expressing yourself in a way that would get wild eyes responses IRL, by no means with that statement you quoted am i saying that I will end up a raving madman spitting venom at every passer by, I meant it solely as a comment that related to that toon in particular (whom I might add only lets that side out in battle, post fight he is a very calm - if a little cynical - character)
So I hope that statement didnt leave an impression of me wishing to plough round GG threatening all and sundry and ranting like Jeremy Kyle on acid, that just isnt methe short temper side was just a reference.
I am a nice guy really........honest guv -

I would say however that roleplay is on the whole a forum where you can express yourself in facets of your personality that you would normally either hide/deny/supress, especially if it is a character that you have created rather than given.
After all why would you create that character if you didnt have some desire to release that side of your persona that you would normally be mindful of?
[/ QUOTE ]
So... What you're saying is that, deep down, I actually want to be a cute lesbian catgirl with nearly godlike powers and a libido that just won't quit?
Oh dear...
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesnt everyone? I know thats what I wanted to be when I grew up, (no courses at Uni for lesbian catwomen with nigh insatiable libido's though)
No seriously though I know what youre driving at FFM, I was referring to the talk on character attitudes rather than the outlandish general personas (if they can be separated) I mean take Dmitri for example if thats the case I have desires to be a trained spec ops killer with no remorse and a penchant for overzealous use of violence all in the name of "a good fight" and yet be very calm and at peace about it all when not in those moments....
However I meant about his general rationale, I do have a short temper though... a side I do not like about me, but not that I can ever express it in the way you can with a fictional avatar...ergo expressing these fantastical elements in an RP environment is a kind of cathartic release.
I hope I made a point and it wasnt some rambling mess, if so I belong in the funny farm with FFM -
[ QUOTE ]
Have you ever found that, during RP, your chars seem to do stuff that you would never ever ever, not in a zillion years, do yourself? Do you ever find that, it doesn't matter WHAT you plan to do with them, they seem to end up doing something totally different and unexpected?
It's almost like they alive in they're own right.
I do... Especially with my long term character, Ellie. A lot of the time I don't have a CLUE what she's going to get up to from one day to the next. It all seems to come from some hidden part of my mind that the rest of me doesn't have ANY access too; and it's especially noticeable when writing fiction for her.
I almost never plan any of it, it just seems to flow from somewhere deep in my consciousness; kinda like the future painting thing in Heroes.
I am possessed, I have been loopy for years, my medication for MPD is now innefectualDoesn't anyone else ever experience this with their chars? Has anyone with actual training in these things ever actually done research on such a thing?
Or is this completely normal of RPers and I shouldn't worry about it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Twice in one day ive had to edit FFM's posts for reality and both on the subject of his questionable sanity
Sorry mate, but on a serious note I have to agree wholeheartedly, Scott (stryke) is - on occasion - a cocksure braggart with a penchant for voicing his thoughts waaay to loud, Dmitri (rockcrete) is a ball of contained anger yet with a cynical outlook on life.
I would say however that roleplay is on the whole a forum where you can express yourself in facets of your personality that you would normally either hide/deny/supress, especially if it is a character that you have created rather than given.
After all why would you create that character if you didnt have some desire to release that side of your persona that you would normally be mindful of?
Anyway thats my take on it, ill see you at the funny farm FFM -

Just pay for it in 6 monthly chunks. If you're concerned about paying over £100 a year, 2 shots of £44 (or whatever it be nowadays) will be a godsend.
[/ QUOTE ]
I, personally, although I could pay in 6 month chunks easily and save myself cash, prefer to pay monthly and give NC the full subscription fee! I happed to think the game is WORTH it and gladly do without the discount.
Im completely stark raving bonkers , but there ya go.
[/ QUOTE ]
(edited for accuracy)
But aye I agree with FFM, as I have stated I do believe that its worth the price it is, considering the cost of other games out there that I have tried and been left feeling empty....and yes I know the game isnt perfect, yet our updates are free, the community is (on the whole) excellent....so bang for buck its the best fun I can have for £100 per annum that doesnt give me a hangover in the morning or have me waking up face down in my own drool in a random apartment -
[ QUOTE ]
Awww, thankyou for the show of faith in my bakey cakeyness everyone... but the Technical Issues and Bugs Forum is FFM's domain and (as i believe he likes to bellow) ...... "None Shall Pass!".
- but yes I do have the ability to make your connection go haywire by mere thought alone, thankfully I'm far too nice to use it - making my ability rather redundant I'm afraid.
[/ QUOTE ]
So does that mean im off the hook mumsie?
And ta FFM, as per with many threads here im always unsure as whether something ive read has been real or a fictional imagination brought on by an uber hangover
As for waiting for GR to get back to us I think his head is to wrapped up around the uber flame wars that have been ongoing this week, god for one guy having to cope with that he has patience
But heres hoping for some news "soon" -

Oh carnie, you know his head is now revolving a full 360 degrees over that but I agree how hard can it be

So this suggestion gets a massive /signed from me -

Could be the forum software. It IS total rubbish, after all...
[/ QUOTE ]
Didnt I read somewhere there was to be a major overhaul to different software on the forums?...or was that a ML corrupted cookie induced hallucination? -
[ QUOTE ]
I concur with the idea that lowering the price wouldn't bring more players to this game. You either like it and pay up or don't.
Plus, they could lower the subscription fees. But then that will be the end to new issues. I am convinced that that will be the end of the game. So no thanks.
[/ QUOTE ]
I tend to agree with that reasoning, and to add my reason why, I personally dont see it as a big price to pay either, I currently pay for this and an annual sub to XBL so that plus CoX (and the odd game extras I purchase) brings it to around £150 a year for all combined, now considering I am budgeting a Gaff for me and the missus as I am the only bread winner with her being a student bum, plus rising bills etc etc, I still dont find that drumming up that amount is a big deal..I can spend that on one weekend out
Now before the backlash hits I understand completely that some people are younger players maybe not in full time employment or students etc and it can seem difficult to justify the prices but as I said....in the grander scheme of things if you love the game and you - like me - appreciate the free updates we get, its not a high price to pay in the long run.
I for one would rather it stay at the level it is or even raised a little more for higher budgets on the issues.....to drop it would just prove the dooomsayers right.
Now this is purely my opinion relating from my own RL situation and I am not saying it applies to everyone (just so you know)

No beer and no PC make stryke...something something...
Actually back on topic and before Mumsie reads this and causes my netgraph to go haywire (I heard ML has the ability to do that) I was also wondering I get a similar problem when clicking active topics it sometimes still lists an old active topics list, now bear in mind this only happens at work and the comps are not too great, is this still a cookie related item or is it more akin to the fact these PCs at work are about as powerful as a commodore 64?

To keep this thread firmly tumbling away from the rails I'll just add that personally I always preferred EQ2 to WoW. Both are good fun for a while, but EQ2 is the place I return when I have a need to hit goblins with sticks.
Plus I get the station account and can go shoot people in Planetside whenever I fancy
Right back on track, and to attempt to answer a question above, I heard that the Architect will be in the form of a Simulator. You go through a door in a special building and get to play with your mission.....I'm sure this was mentioned and railed against on these very forums but my search fu is weak due to the onset of Curry so I'll just leave it there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah thanks Del, just what I wanted to know, as I said I couldnt remember what thread the original info was on - went out last night, so just scrolled through the thread this morning to find another war going on (GR is gonna be happy) I almost missed this post because of it

11 million people cant be wrong can they?
Cox could learn a few tricks from wow if you ask me, i mean wow launch a new paid for update thats just so huge that people will wait in the street at 1 in the morning for it to come out.
Cox yet to launch i13 and the players argue about the small content and huge changes to a core aspect of the game that they dont even like.
Who has it wrong?
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh I was just being obtuseI understand the fact that WoW has it right on the side of the whole marketing thing, I am personally not a fan, I regretably left this game back when Vils was released, then after a year hiatus joined WoW to get a feel for this shiny new toy, left after 6 months feeling empty
so ended up back here within a community which over every other mmo I have played is by far the best, that is only my opinion however.
So that comment wasnt meant as a flame, I was just adding an attempt at levity to a thread which had got a little heated, I apologise if it was taken otherwise.
Back on topic though, reading more about this MA is intruiging me, but as I asked on a previous post, does anyone know how they are actually going to implement it?..will it be akin to the base editor or a different method? -

Probably be bad due to Wrath coming out today as well. People have been prepping for it. More people will be scuttling off to WoW now it's launched.

On topic though was wondering about something I posted regarding player created npcs for MA.... was I correct in recalling them saying one of the reasons of hanging back and separating it from its initial i13 release slot was to add this feature, or had I been hit with Domi confuse when I read that,
I cant seem to recall the thread that was on (if it ever was)

I tend to agree with Wiffle (despite his avatar). If someone's on my ignore list, why on earth would I want to team with them. If someone would potentially be on my ignore list, why would I want to team with them.
Your comment makes no sense, Liz.
[/ QUOTE ]
Over past 2,5 years of gaming I have a total of three persons on my ignore list and a number of trial / sell alts. You have to make it really bad to reach my ignore list.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think there's currently one person on my ignore list. They tend to get put on transiently if they are being persitantly irritating right now, and then deleted later since I'm unlikely to ever see them again.
However, the point stands, why would you want to team with someone you dislike?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with raven, but as I stated it would have to be severe for me to put someone on ignore status, one tell/blind invite isnt enough for me to warrant that and "dislike" is a strong word in a game where im interacting via a generated avatar and not face to face, I tend to give people a chance but if the offending act persists I will ask one more time, then and only then will I place them on ignore, I just cannot bring myself to just spam ignore function at every irritation, if that was the case my list would be full, as it stands I have one...from about 3 months ago iirc.
But as I stated before its all dependent on perspective and the issue at hand, what is one persons utter annoyance is anothers minor irritation, and some other peeps suggestion at using the rating system is a better usage imho. -

Atlas Park, Galaxy City and central Steel Canyon map revamps: (lose 50% of the warehouse filler in the starting zones) Opera house, War Memorial (to RL deceased players).
New zones: (Spacestation/Moonbase Armstrong/Underwater Coralax kingdom)
Improved avatars: (GG don't even think about it!) - I'm talking about refined meshes and more diverse faces the quality of Mirror Spirit.
Graphical improvements: (which have been alluded to now) via their team of programmers.
Issue13 PvP Improvements: Keep at it, keep taking on-board player's constructive critisism until it is fixed.
Historical mission via Ouroboros: I still want to see Whitesands before the Rikti practised their parallel parking, Eastgate before the Hollowing, and The Moraine being launched from Independance Port.
Two more powersets available for Heroes and Villains. (Personal favourites would be Bo-Staff and Sand or Water control).
Any of the above in addition to what is already planned would make me deliriously happy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Curse you mumsie you beat me to it, especially the orobouros suggestion, I would also love to see some areas pre disaster i.e a none cavernous overbrook before the earth split, Baumton pre rikti, Astoria before the BP made it eternally dark etc etc.
I dont for one minute believe this would be an easy undertaking but for one I would have kittens over if it was ever implemented
And the graphical improvements gets a big /signed...I dont think my PC notices that heroes is even there half the time and I run it on full, but then I am just a magpie for all things shiny and Oo -

Until now adding more patron pools was not feasible as each new pool would also require a patron npc + 4 arcs and existing characters with a patron chosen could not access any of this content. Until now.. err until I13.
With the separation between patron story arcs and power pools additional pools could be added with relative ease. Not as easily as hero side epic pools as any new patron pool would still need to have an npc that 'teaches' it.
So what are your ideas for new 'patrons' and themes for their pools?
mine:
Ice Mistral: cold and weather
Silver Mantis: stealth/cloaking and gadgets
Vernon von Grun: Insanity and Napolean Complex
[/ QUOTE ]
Edited for closer ties with the character
Would be nice to have something other than the main 4 Henchmen of Recluse, I do know there has been thread after thread regarding some peoples dislike to the patron pools as showing alleigance to Recluse when some characters may not wish to go down that path.
Now i understand there always is the option of simply not taking them but it would be nice to have an option outside of arachnos to take up.
