  1. You'll really really really want Healing Flames. Really.

You'll also want Acrobatics a lot earlier, or you'll spend a lot of your tanking days on your back.

And you won't need so many endreds in the shields.
  2. Warburg on Union last night was a good laugh, with the Forumites chasing shadows for a few hours with a handful of stalkers.

Had to laugh at the fire blaster jumping off very high buildings to get full defiance then blasting people to bits before getting wiped out.

Also had to laugh at how easily a fire tank goes down compared to an Ice tank Poor Infy.

Now here comes the generic PvP whine.

The few blasters that were around didn't stay long because they were wiped out pretty regularly and easily. And the ones that got a few kills were all /en. There were no other squishies to talk off, a couple of defenders turned up for a few minutes before realising they were prime target and after half a dozen deaths, decided not to play anymore.

By the end of the night the only ATs in the zone were Tanks, Scrappers, Stalkers and Brutes.

    Balanced PvP? ha!

My tank only died once the whole evening, and that was because I stood still replying to a tell and got double AS'd whilst hoarfrost wasn't up. Totally my own fault for not paying attention. But in general, all the non squishies just stood around reading the newspaper whilst the stalkers scared off every squishie that decided to try and join in.

I didn't mind too much because I was a tank and a seasoned PvPer, but it's easy to see why a lot of people who don't PvP aren't tempted to try it and see, especially if they are a squishie.

Was a fun night because it was something different from PvE grinding (we were originally in Warburg doing PvE missions and decided to hang around after) but really does show up the imbalances in the system.
  3. I thought they nerfed end drain?

I dunno, tbh I've seen very few elec blasters at high levels on Union.
  4. Tanking with SS on probably seems easier because the stealth element is losing you some aggro. I regularly team with a dark defender and are forever having to say to turn off shadow fall because it's so much harder to tank with a bit of stealth.

With Aid Self and only using Hibernate when the s*** hits the fan I've found myself comfortably tanking +5's with no defender backup.

As far as EA goes (slotted 2x2x2), I've been hit by a sapper that's taken all of my end away, one use of EA in a medium sized mob and I get a full bar of end, and this recharges every 30 seconds or so. It also drains half of the enemy's end, with two ice tanks or playing with a elec blaster it's quite possible to drain all end from an entire mob.
  5. Since when does Superspeed have +def?
  6. But if Aid Self is quicker to use and quicker to heal, then it's better than basically an intangible version of rest.

i'm ice/ice so between EA and Ice patch I rarely get interrupted using aid self. The only time i've needed hibernate is against DE and their darn dirty quartz.
  7. Sarcasm on the internet?

    It'll never catch on.
  8. Some unpleasantness in Sirens yesterday, trash talking going too far and personal insults flying over broadcast with threatens to petition responded with "lol i get petitioned all teh time and nuffink eva happens"

Annoyed a few people with my ice tank again, but realised that I don't like PvP if I can't attack attack anything!
  9. [ QUOTE ]
took a friends ice/ss tank out for a spin recently and with maximum herds of purple minions, lts and bosses I can safely say that aid self has never been needed nor can I envisage a situation where EA/hoarfrost and hibernate cant take care of the situation. (unless of course you try to relive the i4 glory days and take on mobs of +8s)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd rather use aid self than hibernate, quicker to use, quicker to replenish health and taunt aura is still working whilst using it.

I have hibernate as a panic button, and have rarely needed it so far.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
By slotting Hibernate with 3 recharges and having hasten running, you don't really need a self heal (I'm assuming you use Hoarfrost to increase your HP instead of self healing). Plus, you seem to have enough experience to stay alive for 20seconds while Hibernate is recharging.

    He's lvl 28 and hasn't got Hibernate
  11. I've got a new low level alt that I've started to play quite a bit that would consider trying out a new SG, depending on how active you are or whether I'm just earning prestige for yet another half dead SG

    Stalkers in PVP

The stalker is a whining daft monkey.
  13. There have been lots of discussion around this in the past month, if you look down some of the other threads on here.

I don't think there is much difference between the two, obviously tough and weave are more preventative, and tough will only work against certain damage types, whereas aid self will heal you (a lot and often if slotted well) against all damage types.

I have Aid Self on my Tank, but I will be getting both when I respec.

    PVP Debt change

"o if a npc beats u up for 99% of your health and a pc gets the last 1% you get no debt"

When farming for badges, bring along a friend from the other side! If you look in trouble they can finish you off so you don't get any debt. XP farming with no risk!

I know, it's unlikely to happen, but quite a possible exploit there.
  15. Was a good laugh, but I didn't need to stay around long to realise that I wasn't going to have much of a chance

Maybe when I get to 50 I'll respec into a more PvP build...although not sure what use /Ice is for a tank
  16. Suppression.

It's the same on PvE mobs, it doesn't worry like a hold, it keeps going on and off.

One of the reason why I didn't like it with my mind dominator was it didn't guarantee damage mitigation because it doesn't stop people from attacking.
  17. I think my eyes just bled...
  18. Got well and truely owned by a Dominator and Corrupter in Sirens (on Union) last nice. As my Ice tank. Granted it took them a long time to take me down (with Shiv help) and I don't have a single attack so was always going to be a one way fight, but was suprised how effective the dark debuffs were for lowering my defenses, and the dominator in domination totally ate through my mez protection.

Funny thing was I didn't have any BFs so i summoned Amy J to help me out, but all she did was the odd heal and attack, was kinda hoping she'd throw a clear mind my way

First time I've PvP'd for ages and reminded me that it's helpful to have a decent team backing you up. And fear seems to be FoTM at the moment, and a bit too good
  19. Come on Cheify, you could have at least made the text pretty colours as well!
  20. Black Lace - Superman

    I've got it on vinyl...
  21. 'Wam the Pirate' got a run out on Union last night and will be there tonight.
  22. Only Monkey Island and Black Knight insults should be allowed.
  23. School Discos...aah memories of sitting in the corner playing on my gameboy whilst all the "cool" kids danced to YMCA and Grease Megamix.

    Will there be Panda Pops?

    My Pvp tank

    [ QUOTE ]
is it really worth slotting health though?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Depends if you're going to run away a lot, if you're a "fight to the death" type, then it's pointless, especially as you have hibernate.

    My Pvp tank

I'd swap some of the travel power slots out and put them somewhere more useful when actually in a battle then for running away/chasing.

Like 3 ToHITs in Build up and drop an acc from ET and TF to allow for an extra recharge. In RV you'll have FA anyway, for Sirens/Warburg the fighting is so occasional that it's rare that you'd use ET/TF without hitting buildup first.

But this is all based on personal playstyle, it's a very solid build in general.
