This is the Tank forum. We feel the need to taunt trolls to keep them here and not bother the other AT forums.

It doesn't matter, people are going to quote him anyway. He may be a terrible player in-game, but he knows how to get forum aggro.

"The angrier Hulk gets, the stronger he gets" is the character's core concept. "Hulk smash!", "Hulk is the strongest one there is!", etc. Hulk is pure, unbridled offense.
  5. Every character recieves a temporary power called "Lowered Accuracy" which says it debuffs your accuracy but actually does nothing.

Players complain about their lowered accuracy anyway.

Energy Torrent is knockdown, it's actually a nice opener as you approach a group of enemies.
  7. (Edited post for moar damage, same defense.)

And some mght say to drop Energy Torrent, but I have been using it for so long, it would seem strange not to have it.
Here's a build that works in Afterburner- I dropped Punch and Handclap to add it and Air Superiority. I also like the Cardiac Alpha power for the reduced endurance and added resistance. Apart from that, I kept the same powers.

I tried to avoid really expensive IOs, but there's still a few in there. You don't have to follow the build exactly but it can give some slotting ideas.

  8. On my main, Invention/Incarnate Tank? Not at all. If I really need added resistance, I'll use Eye of the Magus first, but even that's very rare. Unstoppable is pretty much just a place to slot the +3% Defense IOs.

But on my non-Incarnate, no Set Bonus Tank, it's a handy power. I usually need it more for the endurance recovery/click-mez protection than the resistance.
  9. They're losing to a guy who doesn't even have a proper supervillain name. And he wears the same goatee/ponytail/trenchcoat combo that geeks think make them look cool but never does. All he needs is a replica Highlander sword.

This could be the best written arc in the game and I still wouldn't take the guy seriously.
  10. Man, we can't leave these Phalanx losers alone for a second, can we?

There's no knockback unless you specifically create the one with knockback.

Agreed. "Moderate" bonuses like the other uncommon sets and replace debt protection. No new set needed.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Luckily, I really like my build right now so I'm in no rush to boost the ATOs and work them in.

I found buying them at the auction house to be relatively cheap, especially considering I'd saved up a lot of Influence expecting them to cost more. It probably helped that the Tanker set is less popular (I assume).

So far I've only bothered to slot the +Res proc. One proc caps my Smash/Lethal resistance, so that's a nice bonus. Once Issue 22 goes live I'll work on boosting them up with Catalysts then slot the rest.

Or are Catalysts already available ingame? I'm not up on all the info.
  15. MMOs already attract a somewhat obsessive crowd. Achievement-driven and completist personalities can spend way too much time ingame and have it affect their real life. What makes me sad is that marketers saw this not as a problem, but as a gold mine.

I don't really blame City of Heroes- the free-to-play/microtransaction mix is the standard model these days. I just wish the flat monthly rate, no extras, could have stuck around, because it seems a little more ethical than exploiting addictive personalities.

  17. Forget the costume, what's with the hair? She looks like Super-Princess Di.
  18. I think the arc was meant to be light-hearted and not taken too seriously, they just didn't pull it off very well. Blood sacrifices and comedy aren't the greatest mix.
  19. I agree with the "no wrong answers". Once you have the basics down, I find most of the fun of Inventions comes from figuring stuff out yourself and creating your own combinations. If I asked for advice for my Inv/SS Tank, the suggestions I'd get would look almost nothing like the build I use, but I think it's great.
  20. Start simple- work on slotting a power with a basic set like Crushing Impact (for melee attacks) or Thunderstrike (for ranged). That will get you used to collecting recipes and salvage, and looking at set bonuses and what they do.
  21. Just add more Epic Pools, that way the powers can be balanced with each AT in mind. With the Black Canary example, that would be a Scrapper with a Sonic Epic Pool.

A Power Pool revamp I'd like to see it simplifying them down to two tiers: the first three powers avaiable at level 4 (35 for Epic/Patron), once you take one of those the other two powers become available at level 14 (44 for Epic/Patron). This would be mean less taking powers you don't want to get powers you do- skip the filler, get to the fun stuff!

This would also mean the rest of the pools need a fifth power.

I think it's because it's just so obvious. We always wish we could just shoot annoying people, so the scenes pretty much write themselves.

Of course, we don't really want to shoot anyone, it's just an expression of our frustration, and it's possible the movie has another level of satire going on. But as far as the trailer goes- yeah, it's just too easy.

Given the amount of comics with the word "Death" or "Blood" in the titles during the early 90s, they definitely came pretty close.
  24. This reminds me of a line by Conan O'Brien when he was taking over "Late Night": "Instead of a Top Ten List, we're going to do a Top Thirty. It won't be as funny but there will be more of it."
  25. One trick I remember from when the ITF was new is to keep the Romans moving. You don't have to run all over the place, but making them take a couple steps before attacking you makes them a lot more survivable than just jumping into the middle of a group and taking hits. Run past the group and taunt them, and while they're all turning and moving towards you, your team should be shooting/stabbing them in the back.
