I'm curious what power choices and pools you've chosen for your speedster toons. I'm torn and I have a few ideas (energy melee, dark melee, kinetics etc) but I love hearing what others have come up with.

Found Wu's I re-rolled and picked Havoc from the start. Wu's and that are making my day.
I feel better now. Thanks for the advice! -
Oh one thing - I dont see build up in either set... is Concentration the same thing essentially?
-
I put the subject that way so other people like me can find this thread. I'm not sure if I am missing the abbreviation of "Firey Aura and War Mace" but I went back two years looking for a build and couldn't get a single hit on various combos,
Does anyone have a build they would recommend to level and then for 50? -
phew that's wacky I would have never looked there - thank you!!!!
-
Someone mentioned I should get sands of Wu (I'm 15 months) and I see no option to get that on any character...
the only thing I see are my badges (loyal etc)... how does this work? the FAQ says 'just log in' but clearly you have to choose some of these.... how? -
I'm default in terms of level play... at least for now until I'm sure I have my groove.
The change I made (dropping CB) seems to be working. I also found that rather than alpha strike the LT that targeting the minion(s) first helps. I can usually one-2 shot those and then the LT is there to wittle down, rather than 3-4 small DoTs hitting me as I try to take out the LT...
I'll have to look up sands. I have no idea how to access it or any vet rewards... -
Hey thanks for the info - I'll re-roll him. I've been watching carefully and charged brawl is pretty weak. Also I did get my first secondary power (toggle defense of some sort) and he seemed a little better but I'll reroll since he's so low.
Veteran powers - unfortunately I'm still just a 15 monther... though I had played longer but apparently not =) Been gone a loooooong time.
Thanks all! -
I've played all but the unlock ATs if only up to level 10 or so. I've always skipped Stalker even though I usually play Rangers or Rogues (not Rouges as some people say)... I'm not sure why but it just seemed a little odd as far as Supers go.
Well I have one now - Elec/Nin and SOCK! BAM POW!!!! I am nearly dead after every fight. I'm only lvl 5 but I can say this is without a doubt the squishiest I have ever felt in this game.
I know AS is coming, but seriously am I doing something wrong?
1. Hide
2. Run up to White/Yellow/Orange thing
3. Donkey Punch to the back of the head. It gets very very angry
4. I unhide and followup with my less-powerful charged brawl
5. rinse repeat spamming attacks
6. I almost die. Sometimes I do die.
I'm not bank-rolled - I make characters from scratch and start them fresh. So its the same for each AT for me. But this feels WRONG. I can't kill fast enough and I seemingly have no defense.
So is this just how it goes? And until when?
Finally, does anyone have a levelling build (or simply what to skip) on an elec/nin?
Thanks - now I'm gonna go put a steak on my eye... -
Thanks that helps. Though for example at lvl 4 I have a choice of Flares, Mind Probe and TK Thrust... not sure what is worth taking... perhaps flares since I can fire it off whilst mezzed?

One isn't playing the game, they're playing with themselves.

See? I always knew I was exploiting myself. That's it. I'm turning myself in to the police for taking advantage... -
I've been reading up a bit - I came up with a concept and realized after reading here that its considered one of the better set combos. which powers are best picked whilst levelling? I can look up the slotting and such but I'm not sure if I should start with some stuff and respec out as its better to have a lowbie dmg but its not useful later on... that sort of stuff I'm just not sure about.
Any advice? -
I rolled up an elec/elec Brute last night... I think that's going to be my red-side guy.
But I'll look into the Scrapper/Tank suggestions though I wonder- I've heard tanks don't do alot of damage- is this accurate or is there like a Scrank build or something lol- keep them coming if you have good examples.
what's with the bots/ff? Is it a joke or something? It sounds sort of munchkinish... -
So my highest from back 1000 days ago is just a wee 18 levels, so even though I have 15 months I'm a baby as far as the game goes. And I've only been back a few weeks. I've tried some ATs and I have sort of found my groove, but I want to know what ATs would suit my style.
I'm not a stand at the fringes guy, I like being in the middle of the action... but I like AoE... or fast enough ST damage that I can still wind up with a large pile of bodies at my feet. I like having the deathblow, not chipping away like my (lowbie) tanks do.
I even have a dendency to run my Ill/rad controller into the mess, with the excuse that I am getting my heals and AM action on. Its where I feel like I'm doing the most.
I'm thinking a Brute, Blapper, Dominator, or maybe a more durable scrapper type? I just don't know enough of the mechanics to know if there are some hidden gems of unintended playstyles for ATs I'm unaware of.
So big (or at least potent) AoE, (or fast single target), in the mess... locked down or not, it doestn't matter.
What are my options? And what are the best sets (if there are any) to do what I want? -
I've read the guides but some of them seem outdated. The most current guide doesn't have a build- can someone post one for me? I'm new so its helpful to see what other folks use. This should be a 'levelling build' because since I'm not a twink, so I don't have any fancy snap ins, IOs etc
-
Awesome info folks - it clears up alot - between the data here and on the wiki, I am set.
Now if only I could quit rolling characters and devote myself to leveling... this game is hell for alt-itis hehe. -
I was curious if there is solid synergy between Ice/Storm.
The build page has no storm builds at all...
Does anyone have one of these? What do they excel at (solo/group) and are there any gaps in what they do? I have a neat concept but I am a lowbie and still learning the game (just got back) so if this is a tough one I'll shelve it and work on something else.
Thanks!! -
I have been back in the game for less than a month (gone for about 1000 days) and alot has changed. Here are some questions I have been wondering about:
1. What is a 'dual build' I keep hearing about... it seems there is a third pool or something people effectively double up their skills in a way as to serve two purposes? Either way I'm confused.
2. Arcs or contacts... at various points at the lowbie levels you have a choice of 'find out more about the skulls' or 'infiltrate the Thorns hideout'... do these choices have an impact? What should I choose and base my decision on? I've never figured this out. Is it flavor or is there a good reason to go one way or another when a contact offers up a choice?
What are the de-facto 'best fan sites' to look at. I assume there is a wiki (I think I went there the other day) but in my experience with MMOGS, alot of fan sites will get outdated. Who keeps up on their stuff in the CoX universe?
Thanks! -
Thanks - just what I needed - Dr. Mindmelter is born =)

I have just gotten back into the game and I am a little lost. I have a great concept character and so I need a little help with his build.
I want to make an Ill/rad controller that is probably going to solo a bit (until I learn to play him and make friends, I'd like to be efficient).
I have no money, so slotting should be 'on the cheap'... I'm still trying to learn all about that stuff so it will be the basics until I get it all back into my head.
Thanks in advance! -
I have been gone a long time and I'm curious - is the Enforcer Armor look in the costume selection from a specific type of Mob in the game? I like the look but want to make sure it doesn't clash thematically with what I want to do.
-
Wow thanks folks - this gives me some stuff to think about. My highest is probably only lvl 14 or so. I've forgotten nearly all of the game so might as well dig in and learn now =).
Thanks for pitching in! -
Just got back into the game and I'd like to get it right the first time =) I've looked through the search but its so hard to tell what's still valid on these posts.
Thanks! -
My highest was never above 18 so I still consider myself an utter newb despite having played for over a year (big-time altitis hehe)
So to get reacquainted, I'd like to try ATs that are perhaps a little easier to manage or are more forgiving of mistakes.
I have a rough understanding of most of the roles but for example, I've heard defenders (Kin/son) can really shine... but are they easy to get used to? I suppose any of them will be ok given patience.
Just curious if there is standard wisdom in terms of what ATs and powersets are easier vs more challenging.
Thanks!
