How do I get in game Veteran rewards?

In the Badges Tab, look for the drop down menu and click the Veteran badges. That will include all the Veteran Badges and Rewards. That's where you can pick the Sands of Mu power.

Someone mentioned I should get sands of Wu (I'm 15 months) and I see no option to get that on any character...
the only thing I see are my badges (loyal etc)... how does this work? the FAQ says 'just log in' but clearly you have to choose some of these.... how?
