Okies, I'm thinking of starting a Claws / DA scrapper as I've never really seen any about and fancied seeing how they worked out, my only problem is a lack of knowledge when it comes to the DA powerset.
Could anyone give me some advice on which powers to avoid, which travel power and pool powers to pick to plug any gaps in the DA set?
Thank ya kindly -
*Cheers and tries to chew his way out of his straight jacket*
Don't you just love happy endings? -
Wha'? Making sense AND cheering people up at the same time? This is worse than I thought.
*Screams for a medic* -
Indeed, as I said in the other post, GG is a meeting point, but not the limit of the world in which it's many attendants traverse. Updates are, in my opinion at least, relevent regardless of location if one of the visitors to GG is even thought about never mind involved personally, as such events affect the entire community. (Geez I really need to stop makign comments that might be seen as even slightly sensible, it'll ruin my reputation
)
Anyway....
Last night the Fletched Alliance were the most numerous of those attending the statue, though some of the others there did cause quite a stir, with Molok taking a personal interest in a young graffiti artist.
The recent troubles which had rocked the FA to it's very foundations were discussed privately with those concerned, and the matter resolved to a relatively satisfactory degree, though the ties that bound the members in question would require more than mere words to repair, though it is said that time is a good healer. -
*Starts to panic*
Something is clearly very wrong, I'm actually making sensible valid points and contributions to discussions lately. I'm blaming the heat, it's affecting my mental health rather a lot it seems.
*wanders of to sit in a dark corner where it's a little cooler* -
Last time we did this TF it needed around an hour and a half so finishing at 5 is a rather safe estimate.
I'd like to point out that we made life a whole lot easier when we had to rescue some one from a stone circle (can't for the life of me think which mission it was) by having someone with Flight as their travel power being the one who smashed the stones, then they just headed for the exit via the sky and jobs a good un. Saves a fair amount of time which is nice. -
I know I put myself forward for this over GGOOC, but just to make it official....
Veskit would be more than happy to join you, he needs that final badge from the AV and the hat (even though it won't go with any of his cossie's) -
Happy Cake Day!!!!

Once again Your artwork is amazingly impressive Dove, I'd sell my soul to have even half the talent you clearly command (shame I already traded it for 2 packs of cigs at some god forsaken hour in the morning a few weeks ago, curse my inability to wait for shops to open locally)

Why would you not be able to RP with him? So long as you're having fun with him and the people around you then I say go for it. There's a Leprechaun that hangs out at GG from time to time, and he's immensly popular, so you're a slightly twisted lil fella, makes the possibilities even more interesting for protecting your pot 'o gold

As one of the group in attendance when this spot was found, I have to say i think it's a fine choice, and easily reachable for lvl 1 toons (tested repeatedly during a quiet time after GG fun was finished)
As for a reason, perhaps the realisation that by working alone the groups and individuals of the Isles will never manage to push the somewhat enthusiastic Long-Bow forces from the streets of their turf (and for some of the more independant villains the same could be said for Arachnos forces)
Pooling resources to eradicate those groups that have ideas above their station such as the R.I.P. and ensure the survival of personal business interests is ample motivation. It's often the main reason for villains to gather into Villain Groups, I don't see why it wouldn't be viable on a greater scale.
Just my personal view on the idea, ignore, expand on, or improve as you see fit. -
Just a few little things that I found helped when I started to try RPing (and have stuck with ever since)
1: open your options window and turn of the character name display (or just set it to appear when you hover over them with your mouse in case of complicated names to avoid annoying someone by constantly mis-spelling their name)
2: Anything YOU know is to be flushed from your mind, sure you might know that mob type X can be found in location Y, but unless your toon has seen them there, he/she will have no idea. This goes for everything.
3: Building up a relationship with other characters takes time. DO NOT be put off if people don't accept you into their group right away. The best way I can think of putting this in RL terms is that your character is the new guy at school, people might wander over and talk to him/her out of curiosity then wander off. But if you keep your eyes and ears open you'll see or hear people that clearly share interests with you, then just find a suitable place to join the conversation. (I think someone already mentioned various options for the more adventurous such as asking someone for directions to a well known place or person, and IT DOES NOT matter if the toon you decide to RP with is lvl 1 or lvl 50, it's RP, you can play either as a new resident to the city with a little thought, lvl 50 hero just moved from another city, needs to check in and register for active duty to avoid unwanted tangles with Long-Bow peeps as their face won't be a recognised one locally)
4: To make things easier for yourself, make your first RP toon based around something you can identify with personally, this will help you behave and react more realistically and will also reduce some of the work-load for yourself which means more time to have fun with them which is what the whole purpose of RPing is. (I used this for my main Veskit, who was given severe memory loss and the associated side effects of this, and played him from personal experience. This made life a lot easier for me)
5: This might well be the most important bit of advice anyone has ever given me (and it covers almost any situation in any area of life) IF YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE, ASK SOMEONE FOR HELP. send them a /tell and ask for advice which is focussed on your problem, or if they know anyone that can help you. 9 times out of 10 there will be someone around who has had a similar problem, or knows someone who has. Learning from your mistakes is a vital part of human advancement, learning from other peoples mistakes is just the same but you cut out the middle man, savig yourself both time and trouble.
I hope these have been of at least some use to you, as I said, they helped me when I first started out, and continue to do each time I visit the GG meet. As with all advice, you might find it isn't something you can use, but on the other hand, who knows. -
((Rin's the man to see anout the forum, we let him deal with the technical stuff so he feels like a proper boss. And in responce to the link, well if people are too lazy to click on a link for information they asked for, then thats their problem, not saying you personally Coile, but a quick link is far easier than copying and pasting the entire thread, and since not all the FA members have posted yet, the data would have been incomplete, this way you'll see any new additions as they arrive))
[ QUOTE ]
((Also, don't miss out on a nice chance to display your team here and maybe attract new members. People are lazy clicking links. ))
[/ QUOTE ]
The FA tends not to activly seek out new members, we tend to just find them from time to time, after a while if they get along with other members IC then they might be offered a place. Although in some cases we have been thought of highly enough to have people seeking us out, though this is often due to our tendancy to our reputation of collecting the strays and outcasts of the hero breed -
One list coming right up ....
Clicky -
The character was brilliant, although I personally didn't join the conversation/debate I was stood close enough to listen in, very impressive. ((damn I wished I knew something about the topic of conversation, would have loved to join in))
Hopefully we'll be seeing more of you about from now on eh? -
I think you mean Crucifix Blade, and welcome to the wonderful world of RPing.
((just realised that all those mentioned are members of the Fletched Alliance, now there's good publicity for once, must have words, we only ever get bad press))

I feel Ves sits fairly well in the middle ground on this matter, (although if anyone disagrees feel free to say so)
Power-wise, he's highly capable at what he does best, hitting things, big things, small things and all the things inbetween, and physically he's rather hard to break, his nanotech keeps him up and running with shocking efficiency (much to his dismay in his early GG days when he was activly trying to fall in battle if only to escape the armoured shell he was held in.)
However, ask him to do anything more complicated than beating something around the head and he's instantly way out of his league. This becomes evident each time something involving magic occurs at GG or anywhere else for that matter, this often surfaces when there are problems with Nyu and her Dragon council, (last time Ves had to stand there and watch while feeling all useless as Jess used her skills with magic to assist her)
He's also a bit fragile when it comes to mental attacks, not being the brightest sharpest tool in the box does leave him open to various forms of nastyness (kinda helps that this ties in nicely with his actual powers for when he runs missions IC, as his main RP weaknesses are shown to their fullest)
From a personality point of view, well lets just say that he's a little slanted, his priorities being his family with Nyu, then the "family" that took him in (the Alliance), then his friends. Everything else is basically just back ground noise, if it doesn't affect him or someone he knows and cares about then it's not his concern.
Thats not to say he's unsociable, when he visits GG he's always polite (kinda) and friendly (a bit) but does have something of a temper (as some people saw last week when he was talking to Little Step on the FC roof late at night after the "suicide bomber" incedent. He kinda lost his composure and offered to send Jack home in several small packages and was rather blunt and rude. (And had loads of fun doing it, which is why I sometimes RP with my villains for a little quiet therapy)
All in all I think he's far from uber, infact he's more flawed than Sven's plans for the world cup tactics and squad selection -
Bah, God forsaken night shifts hindering the greeting of new people,
*hatches devious plot to close down place of employment based around raw fish, sticky-back plastic and 38 pounds of Blue Stilton*
Anyways.... Hallo *waves* and welcome to the wonderful world of RP (and hopefully regular GG visits)
I remember not too long ago when I made my way to GG for the very first time, you'll have to be careful, the people there have this insane rubber-band device, invisible to the naked eye, and no matter how far away you happen to wander you'll find yourself arriving back there night after night (often without even seeing the zones between your last known location, kinda scary at first but you soon get used to it, and it's faster than the trains I assure you)
The people are generally friendly (although from personal experience it's not wise to mention that Volt Masters white and gold cossie looks kinda "poncey" as this results in mean words from a 3rd party)
Looking forward to meeting which ever toon you decided to take along as soon as my working week finishes (hard to miss me, I'll be the one that doesn't log off for days on end trying to make up for lost time. Arrrgh working for a living sucks, must learn how to grow money tree's)
PS Sorry Max, looks like I'm the last one to say hi now, mwahahahahahahaha -
I knew I was right, EVERYONE loves explosions, something to do with them being like bigger and flashier fireworks. Although that could have something to do with our patented Explodo-grams, either that or we attract people with some real strange fetishes.....
*thinks of the collective Vampires, Cat-Girls, Symbiotic alien/human mixtures and cyborgs*
I think it's the fetish thing to be honest -
It's kinda strange, considering we're an RP SG that generally doesn't go out recruiting we're certainly picking up a few new members recently.
Guess we're doing something right then eh? -
Now I don't want to offend, but how can you say you were ignored last night? I recall Inago arriving at GG last night with Pyra, being greeted by Ves Nyu and their son, (more about that in a minute) a comment about Inny finally being taller than someone, and then a sneaky peek at Inny's new armour. Then he wandered off. There were people there that spoke to you, so to say you were ignored is just wrong I'm afraid.
Also of note are the recent plot lines which have been taking place of late, we've had Ellie being taken captive, a wedding, a birth along with other things such as RC finally turning out in public without his gas-mask on, (which i'm sure you'll agree is fairly major). Because these events have taken up much of everyones time various people wanted to tie up any loose ends and tell people whats happened since they last saw each other, and as a result most conversations last night were based around those events. Personally Ves didn't know Inny had been out cold for any period of time, be it a matter of seconds or weeks for that matter, hell the last time Ves saw him was when he was still looking for Bluestrike, and how long ago is that?
As I said, I hope I haven't offended you Inago, but from an IC point of view, Ves was always going to be more interested in what his wife and son were doing rather than a friend he's not seen in god knows how long, family comes first for Ves, always has, and always will. Sorry but them's the breaks buddy. -
Gratz FFM, fear to think how long it's going to take me with Ves, far too many alts and long chats late into the wee small hours with DR.
Been a good few weeks for you lately, (apart from the elbow, ouchies), you've been to Disney Land, and hit 50, now all thats left is winning the lottery, when you got that planned? -
I love my Claws scrappers (and my Claws stalker) mainly due to the relativly low End cost of the attacks. My Claws/Regen toon is only lvl 8 so can't say i've got much to say about the Regen side of things, but my main (Claws/Invuln) is a whole bundle of joy to play, with a ranged knockdown attack for his opening attack he can keep most enemies flat on their backs for an entire fight, (just slip Air Sup in your chain and you'll giggle like a child for hours as you watch boss mobs spend half the fight getting up and the rest getting smacked right back down again) and the AoE attacks are real handy for clearing the random mobs out of the way leaving you with a clear shot at the real targets, those big bad bosses right in the middle of a crowd.
Fast recharges and low end costs mean you'll have some seriously nimble fingers and a huge grin for the duration. Enjoy -
Well, after reading all the advice I was given, (and hopefully understanding most of it) and playing the toon to lvl 8 I've Altered a few of the powers and some of the slotting (Thanks Mesmer for pointing out Power Boost didn't buff the secondary feature of Sonic attacks, which was the only reason I went for it, was feeling a little team friendly for a moment there. Mobs + -Res debuff = happy scrappers and other damage dealing peoples)
Also, due to finding out just how short the range on powers like Shout was, I decided to add Bone Smasher and will now hopefully be able to unleash ranged hell, then break anyone thats left up close and personal.
