Sonic/Energy build, advice please
A few observations.
If ur going to PvP, you'll want more than 1 accuracy in attacks. Sonics aren't that accurate. You may find you're not hitting in PvE either.
Absolutely no point putting a damage in Screech. Same with Sirens Song.
Likewise with Dreadful wail. I use 1acc 3 dmg. Disorient duration is very long anyway (for those that it doesn't drop). It will disorient bosses as it is due to the 3fold attack. If you can spare the slots then recharge is probably better.
Put a couple of toHit buffs in Amplify.
Any reason for recall friend? Boost range with Sonics would be much more useful, especially if ur staying a 'blaster' as the attacks are quite short range.
Shriek is actually quite a nice attack - recharge is very quick.
Powerthrust is very handy on auto - but you want it to hit.
If you're using it for damage to, which i highly recommend, use 2acc/3dmg/1rech or 1 knockback.
Other slotting for this is 2acc/2rech/2kb - see those minions fly!
Personally Id get Sirens Song at level 18... you will suddenly find solo'ing on those hard-to-find team days ten times easier...
Personally think it's a mistake to ignore your secondary attacks. I'm not saying you should be an out-and-out blapper, but you'll be close a lot of the time anyway (Shout is tiny range so you've got to be on top of em to do the damage) and with screech/siren's song (edit: mon dieu! Siren's song that late??) you can get in and out and do serious damage. Sonics has a fair bit of hard control, exploit that to the fullest to let you make some VERY big orange numbers solo.
DON'T eat muffins while I'm developing you.
Pants! Turkey Magnates! A man in a box! Rogue AI! Come one, come all, to arc ID 10107 - It's 'Not as long as some other arcs'!
Thanks for the advice, I'll see what I can come up with after tinkering around a little with the choices and slotting.
Don't slot Power Thrust with damage, 2 accuracy's is all you need. Don't get Total Focus, get Bone Smasher instead. The animation is much quicker, and it recharges much faster. Never ever pick Total Focus over Bone Smasher as it's overrated.
also, could you explain this?

but I do like some of the buffs from the energy set for making my ranged hits hurt just that little bit more.

I'm assuming you're reffering to Power Boost here? As far as I know it does NOT effect the secondary effect of Sonic Blast. Don't ask me why, as I don't know. Just Cryptic being Cryptic I guess.
Now that we've got that out of the way, I don't see a reason for you to pick */nrg secondary above most other sets, as you clearly do not take full advantage of the set. You could've easily gone with Electric, Ice or even Fire secondary. Personally I would've gone with Electric Secondary for the added control.
Personally Ive gone for sonic/fire. Did sonic/electric up to 14 and it was good, but I feel sonic a bit lacking in AoE, and thats kinda a blastery job, so thought better compensate abit.

It is?
Well, kinda yeah?
AoE's are always going to win the day in teams - and blasters are more "teamy" than the uber-dull scrappers (Swing that Bat States - harder!, faster!). Blasters have more AoE than scrappers with the exception of Spine blasters (Oh, another Spines/Regen hero? Please to meet you, what an original build you have!)
Sonic a bit lacking in AoE if you ask me. A pretty good cone. A pretty rubbish cone (knockback aaaaaarghhhh!), and a cone sleep. Not bad, but not great. Since I despise Knockback with a vengance (and I would suggest most "tight" teams do to), Ive only really got 1 cone and 1 cone sleep.
So I picked up a fire to flesh out the AoE with combustion - and toying with burn and blazing aura for some fun
I agree that Sonic is lacking in AoE damage, but I don't agree that it's a Blasters job to do said AoE damage. A Blaster should do damage, be it single target or AoE, but not exclusive to on type or another. Both my Blasters are almost strictly single target damage dealers. I take care of the nasty bosses while my team mops up the minions.
Probably a lot of Blaster sets will be lacking if you focus on AoE damage, I think.
I would get shriek, I found it does a significant amount of my total damage over time on my corruptor, more than Shout does. It also means that you will have an extra -res.
@Unthing ... Mostly on Union.

Got to disagree.
I highly recommend slotting power thrust for damage. It doesn't do that much less than energy punch. Slot it and see.

I did. Energy Punch does more than twice the damage of Power Thrust. Power Thrust does less damage than Shriek. You shouldn't slot a melee attack that does so little damage.

Not when i use it it doesn't.
As for shouldn't. That's highly debatable. The more damage the better as a blaster, blapper, blaptroller, blaptrank etc.
Looking at hero planner 3 slotted with damage it does 80% of the damage as a 3 slotted energy punch, means you can spam it more without losing much DPS.

You must have a special version of Power Thrust that nobody but you has then.
I was just doing a mission, removed all the damage slots from Energy Punch and hit even level mobs for more that twice the damage than Powerthrust, which has no damage on it. So if one Power not slotted for damage does more than twice the damage than another power not slotted for damage, I'd say that the first power defenitely does a lot more damage then.
And about not slotting Powerthrust for damage, you really should not. It's called effecient slotting. You're wasting slots if you slot powers that give so little extra benefit. Slot other more effective powers first, before you start wasting slots on things like Powerthrust. Don't slot defbuffs on things like Hover or Combat Jumping, and don't slot Powerthrust for damage. It's a waste.
Powerthrust is a good power, one of the best lv 1 powers, but not for the damage it does. It's handy as a semi control power, with the knockback(don't slot it for knockback though).

A pretty rubbish cone (knockback aaaaaarghhhh!)

I have been playing a sonic/nrg blapper (lvl 16 so far, whoot) and I love that rubbish cone shockwave! Buildup, then howl and then shockwave... anything not dead is on the floor giving me a couple of seconds to run in shout at them, energy punch them and powerthrust that annoying boss away
Teams seem to like it so far
Shockwave is like supersonic gale. It's the fabbest

Hero Planner has incorrect Brawl Index values for both Energy Punch and Bone Smasher. The database is messed up, giving you the values for the Tank version of the powers instead. That, or someone hase been screwing with it.
Charged Brawl and Havoc Punch from the Electric set have more accurate values, and are only slightly higher than the values for both Energy Punch and Bone Smasher. Check those values if you want an accurate guess towards the damage of Energy Punch and Bone Smasher.

Played a rad defender up to 50. Therefore, Knockback is forever ingrained as aaaaaaaargggggh!
I agree with Mesmer, while power thrust is very handy attack for its knockback, you have more attacks to slot than you can fit into your character, and power thrust remains as the weakest (apart from stun). Energy punch >> power thrust for damage.
Well, after reading all the advice I was given, (and hopefully understanding most of it) and playing the toon to lvl 8 I've Altered a few of the powers and some of the slotting (Thanks Mesmer for pointing out Power Boost didn't buff the secondary feature of Sonic attacks, which was the only reason I went for it, was feeling a little team friendly for a moment there. Mobs + -Res debuff = happy scrappers and other damage dealing peoples)
Also, due to finding out just how short the range on powers like Shout was, I decided to add Bone Smasher and will now hopefully be able to unleash ranged hell, then break anyone thats left up close and personal.

I have a rad... a rad/sonic
Knockback is only an issue if you don't know when to use it
Knockback 96% of the time rules
Hmmm.... I take your point but I think you mean...
Knockback is good if the TEAM know how to use it...
And therefore lies the genesis of AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGH- KNOCCCCCCCCKBACCCCCCCCCK!
perhaps hehe
But the player with the knockback is the main person that needs to make most of the judegment calls
Some great guy made a Sonic Guide here.
One of his 50's is also a Sonic/Energy, so if you have any further questions, he says it's fine to PM
Ok, after playing around with possible power choices and slotting this is what I ended up with......

As you can see, I've tried to stay away from the blapper route, I've got scrappers for that kinda thing, but I do like some of the buffs from the energy set for making my ranged hits hurt just that little bit more.
If anyone can pick holes in this build please feel free, as I genuinly don't have a clue what I'm doing when it comes to blasters.
