I'm fairly certain I've seen a tech lab map that has a room with a portal at the end. Does anyone know if this map is available in the MA?
-
Thanks for the review! Four out of five, even though the only real flaw you mentioned was the problematic mob? I guess the self-insertion really put you off. Can't say I blame you; I know it's pretty egotistical.

Also, if you really don't want to lower the difficulty of the AV, upgrading the allies to EB's (or maybe AV's) would significantly increase a solo's chances at survival.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to disagree with this, because I think having EB allies just makes them steal the show and do all the work. Fighting EBs solo is tough, true, but inspirations are there to level the playing field, plus you need a reason to empty out your tray so you can earn those insp badges. :P

But thanks for the glowing review! I appreciate it a lot! -
Critters with Flash Arrow can keep players permablind, easily, because it's autohit and AoE.

I'd love to get my arc reviewed.
Arc 1992: "A Hero's Halo"
Morality: Heroic
Length: Long
3 missions
Description: I bet you think that halo you picked up during the last Winter Event is pretty cool, huh? Maybe you shouldn't be so trusting of things from the Shadow Shard... -
My guess is he's been playing the architect quite a while. Once you see some of the really half-[censored] stuff out there, you start to appreciate the ones that are tight and well-made even more, even if the missions aren't the next ITF or LGTF.
-
Oh, I thought of another one: Ally objective spawns aren't saying their "inactive" dialogue until you aggro them.
-
Those attributes are part of the powers, not an inherent the AT gets. Since the custom critters use the exact same powers, there you go.
-
It seems like there ought to be a consolidated list of issues that crop up with the MA. A few I can think up off the top of my head:
<ul type="square">[*]"Manipulation" power sets (Blaster Secondaries) let custom critters spam immobilizes and keep them perma. Particularly awful is Device's Web Grenade
[*]Invulnerability's Unstoppable lasts WAY TOO FRICKING LONG
[*]Willpower EBs and AVs seem head and shoulders above other similar enemies in terms of difficulty
[*]Character limit for feedback is quite small
[*]No way to choose "nothing" for a custom critter secondary. Would be great.
[*]No power pool powers available for custom critters.
[*]This is a weird one. I just got Among Friends, (test an arc with a team of 8). We played on Heroic, and even though we had a full team, the custom Bosses and EBs in the mission, even those that I didn't specifically place, were still being downgraded a rank. The standard bosses were spawning as bosses as normal.[/list]Anyone else know of any? -
Global tells are nice for receiving MA feedback, but they have a character limit, and you only get them once and can't review them later. An MA-specific email box with a much higher character limit would be great, since that way it's fine if you type in feedback as you go along with custom arcs. This method also makes it easier to report spelling or grammatical errors to designers, since currently it's really hard to squeeze those into the character limit along with more important feedback.
I am, however, a fan of the way the current feedback system lets you open a dialog with the people giving you feedback, so I think a button you could press on your feedback inbox to start a global chat with your feedbackers would be helpful. -
Arc Name: The Extadine Lab
Arc ID: 2595
Faction: Carnies, Surprise
Creator Global Name: @Vanden
Difficulty Level: Medium
Synopsis: The Carnies are working on a new drug called Extadine. Get to their lab and shut it down before the drug hits the streets!
Mission Count: 1
Estimated Time to Play: 20 minutes
Despite the mundane-sounding title and description, this is a comedy arc, and probably won't be what you expect. Prepare for an unexpected genre change. Be sure to read the clue and System text or you probably won't understand what's going on.
This Live version of the mission should be a bit shorter than the version that was on test.
If you like this mission, please check out my other arcs too! They could always use more exposure. -
How is the classic "form a team and play through one arc from each member" strategy not on there?
-
I went ahead and alphabetized the list so far, and tried to make the genre headings stand out more. Remember to add your arcs in alphabetical order.

"Return of the Kings" Preview

Just finished running the arc. Decent story, and a nice enemy group. There were an awful lot of AVs (downgraded to EBs for me), if it were me I'd save the AVs for the final mission, and make the rest of them unique bosses or EBs at most. Also, it looks like the only lieutenant in the New Kings is the Electric wrangler; you might want to make a new enemy, or upgrade a minion to add some more variety. On thing I though was weird, none of your glowies have any system or progress bar text. Finally, the title for mission 4 would probably work better as the Accept text.
Anyway, that's all the things worth commenting on I noticed.
I don't really have a new arc I want real feedback on, so I'll just repost my arc from earlier in the thread.
Arc Name: A Hero's Halo
Arc ID: 8150
Faction: Marauder's Praetorians, Rularuu
Creator Global Name: @Vanden
Difficulty Level: Medium-Hard
Synopsis: I bet you think that halo you picked up in Pocket D last winter event is pretty cool, huh? Well, maybe you shouldn't be so trusting of things from the Shadow Shard...
Mission Count: 3
Estimated Time to Play: About one hour
It's changed a bit since I first posted it in this thread. If you like it, please post in the feedback thread linked in my sig or this post so more people can find it! -

Arc Name: The Pale Horizon
Arc ID: 6859
Faction: Hero
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Lovelife (I think that it has Like Flames as the creator.)
Difficulty Level: medium - I found it easy on heroic solo, but cranking the difficulty can make some of the mobs pretty nasty. I haven't done a team run with bosses, but they may be a bit of a challenge if they work how I mean them to!
Synopsis: A new villain group has been amassing magical artifacts and you need to look into it before it gets out of hand.
Estimated Time to Play: Stealthing 3/4 missions solo, it took me about 15 minutes. There is only one defeat all (on a small map) and the others are on medium maps with an objective at the end.
I just published it the other day after working on it for only a few hours, so there is almost definitely room for improvement. I haven't had a chance for extensive testing, just a few runs through solo, so I never encountered one of my custom bosses, so I'm hoping that they work out fine! Overall, I like how it turned out.

The first thing I noticed is that the contact talks to me like she knows me. What the heck, man! Is it too much to ask for an introduction? :P
The glowie in the first mission gave me nothing; no system text, no clue, not even text in the progress bar. So I don't know what to make of it. Since the only other goal in the mission was to beat all the enemies, for all I knew I was going into an abandoned office and smacking around some squatters because they were there. Also, at the end of the mission I get some papers for a clue, but no mention as to whether it was on the enemies or lying around or a previous tenant's grocery list or what. That could use some clarification, and maybe a boss to drop it.
The clue at the end of the third mission just cuts off without finishing. It goes "Em said that she took the necklace when she". When she what? Come on, don't leave me hanging!
By the fourth mission I realized I didn't really know much at all about the Pale Sun. I gathered that they somehow distributed magical energy throughout their ranks, but they didn't seem to have any motivation. For all I know they could've intended to bring water to orphans in Africa. They did take that woman's necklace, but there was only a brief mention at the very end why it was special. That's one of the challenges in making believable characters; they need to have motivations, personalities.
Here's my arc:
Arc Name: ParaCon
Arc ID: 10000
Faction: Clockwork
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Vanden
Level Range: 1-20
Difficulty Level: Easy-Medium (Clockwork can be tough at low levels)
Synopsis: The cosplayers at the Paragon City Convention need your help!
Estimated Time to Play: 15 minutes
It's a lighthearted chance for your hero to save some civilians and get some new fans in the process. If you want, you can go to this thread to talk about which characters in pop culture I referenced in the mission. -

"The Escalator"
Arc ID: 7849
Genre: Action!
Length: Very Long
Missions: 5
Description: The Freak known as the Escalator is causing trouble. (Medium difficulty with a chaotic finale)
[/ QUOTE ]
I liked the missions, but I didn't really understand how the whole "Hero Buddy" thing impacted on the plot as a whole. The last mission was well-done.
Also, the third mission gives you two clues for the same thing (actually one for beating the Escalator, and one for beating the mission, but beating the Escalator completes the mission, sooo...) Also, Lazzor complains about his spleen in the third mission, but Freak tanks clearly have had the part of the body in which the spleen resides removed, so I know off about 4 stars for that.
Oh, and the $name tags in the NPC dialog of the second mission don't work.
And maybe it's just me, but my contact didn't seem like he cared whether I did the missions or not.

I've had this proc slotted in my VEAT's Tactics power for quite a while, and I would not bet against it NEVER having helped me. However, the sixth set bonus that it gives me access to (2.5% to all positional defenses) is absolutely worth it.

Working on it... -
I'm going to repost my opinion on Day Job badges from another thread.
It's not that they take a while to get that bothers me, it's that you get them for doing nothing. Wow, that's worthy of a reward. Badges should represent what you've done, not what you haven't done. Like the Master of Statesman's Task Force. That's a good badge; it takes work and effort, and once you've got it people can appreciate that you went the distance to earn that badge. Meanwhile, Day Job badges require you to do nothing. They say to you, "Go away for a month and we'll give you a badge." And the second you decide not to play a character you want to play because you want the progress on the Day Job badges, you're paying money to NCSoft to NOT play their game. How is that a good thing? I don't pay restaurants to not give me food, I don't pay a gym to not exercise there, and I shouldn't pay a video game company to not play their game.
I don't really have a problem with the other Day Job rewards, but I think the badges just take way too long to get. I don't think the requirements for one Day Job badge should be more than a week of time. -
Just FYI, the latest version of the icon pack has been uploaded. All the links (and advice) in the OP will work for it, so download away. I'll get the changes lists up later.

Well, Storm Summoning / Freezing rain is now the placed Defense Debuff icon.
And Arachnos patron shields now use S/L Resist icon. I'll hop on Test and check the others.
[edit] Doesn't seem to be the case...
[/ QUOTE ]
Looks like they made their own S/L resist icon for the patron shields, and used the old tier9 icon they used to have for the new powers like Hibernate and Surge of Power. The exception is Scorpion Shield, which has another new "defense buff" patron power icon. Personally, I would have given it the same S/L resist icon as the others and used the defense buff icon for Personal Force Field, but oh well.
[ QUOTE ]
So if I had all these .png images of the changes I was interested in making, would you be able to change them into texture format?
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe. Do they fit in with the other icons? The level of excellence I shoot for is to make it hard to tell if I or the art guys made the icons.
