    I noticed I seemed to see less of them too, when I started back, but I assumed that was just the playerbase in general shrinking. Hardcore RP guilds tend to be a bit of a select clique in any game, though, so I'd just keep looking, and above all keep playing and meeting people. you'll find one that appeals to you eventually.

IF you think about it, the logical conclusion of ERPvP really IS ****. I can't say that seems like a good thing to me, but it IS true. I suppose if you were really obviously playing it for laughs, and being insensitive... well, that would be different. But simply as you've given it above, no, that doesn't seem, to me, like a banable offense. But then, I don't moderate channels, or run guilds, either. *le shrug*

    NO, not realy. Honest. I swear.

    Val's also /not/ my /real/ name, obviously - its my character name. My one and only character's name. Ive been playing in various variations since I first dreampt her up ove a decade ago, across many games, and I've never wanted another. Cower before the mysterious, burning-eyed (soon to be demon-summoning) sorceress supreme! Better yet, buy her a drink - that always works .

    As for what my real name /is/, Im afraid that would be telling - I never give out personal information of any kind over the internet.

    Im a roleplayer and a PvPer - I grew up in UO and honestly cant imagine what we've come to where the two are seperable. I not a huge comic geek, but I do like the genre.

    I was here in CoH once before for many a year, near the beginning, but my guild disintigrated around the same time I13 destroyed PvP, an, bereft of both the people and the gameplay I loved, I left, nad kicked around a few other games. I play Champions Online - shame on me, I know - and I like a love a lot fo the people Ive met there, but it simply doesnt have the community, or, more surprisingly, the strategic depth, I remember from CoH, so most of my gaming time is spent here now.

    Except not that much, because my poor faithful video-card broke, but that I should have sorted soon.

    Im a member of a wonderful supergroup called the Celestial Heroes of Paragon, who's leader, Kata Mari, is one of the most wonderful gamer girls I've ever hd the pleasure to strap on preposterously high heals and fght evil with. At least, I /hope/ Im still a member - with that videocard problem, its been a while since I logged on. They're not roleplayers OR PvPers though, and when I /do/ get back in game, with allmy abundant free time, I hope to hook up with more of both.

  6. Hmm...I have no way of knowing if your side of the story is the true one, so I cant advise you on what sort gof treatment she deserved. I can tell you that a big public shaming was probably not the best way to resolve your issues with her and promote a healthy reconciliation with the group, and I certainly gaurantee that whining about it to the forums probably doesn't help either. If she's a problem kick her - no remorse. But if someone went out of their way to humiliate me like that? Id be sorely tempted to wait until the enxt time no one online was higher ranked than me and dismantle the guild out of sheer spite (destroy the base; empty the treasury; kick everyone lower-ranked). But then, Im just vindictive like that, I suppose.

    All that to say, if you're going to remove her, then do it. Do it right now (preferably before she reads any posts by bitchy forumites and gets clever ideas about revenge ;D). Do it, and dont ever feel you have to justify it to her, or the forums, or anyone you dont want to. But, I beg you, for her sake and everyone else's, to simply do it and get it over with, rather than drawing it out as a humiliating public spectacle to assuage your insecurities.
  7. I need soul tentacles (or some AoE imob - it deosnt matter very much which - as a *** of effective hard-control, to force the bad guys to stay at range where my defence saves me. That, or I need hoer again, and that would mean loosing Hasten. and with it the permanent World of Pain, and the near-permanent Painbringer and Anguishing Cry.

    The change on World of Pain is an niteresting idea. I originl had simply chosen 3 rech/res IOs from their respectivre sets, frankenslotting for those stats. Ill see if I can eep it perma within that set though.

  10. Another in my line of annoying questions: is soul extraction any good? I really cant sem to find what powers the ghost has either. I cant even se to find ow long it lasts in Mid's.
  11. They fixed that? Fially? Squee! aThen you're ight - i might want to go with a different imob. I still dont have a lot of faith in SL defence, though. Ive tried it before and there are jsut too many things it doesn't work on.
  12. Also, does Lich have the full debuff values of a mastermind with the same powers? I seem to recall Fearsome Stare had a /very/ high tohit debuff once upon a time, for a secondary effect - something like 10% base. That would certainly take care of defence problems rather well.

  14. Also, what powers does Lich actually have? Slotting him with Cloud Senses would be very worth it if he has any sort of AoE -acc - and it would let me lower my defence, since the debuff will effectively softcap me anyway. If its only ST, then its not much use, really, is it?
  15. Hmm... I hadnt thought about Hasten, really. But I could get it if I removed Hover/fly. Im used to using it on ranged defence builds from blasters, but I suppose that with a real, honest, AoE imob, I may not actually need it. Anyone who's ever actually tried t pull that off care to comment?

    Its worth noting that the attack chain isn't really complete now, either - there's sitll a bit of a gap. I may re-work the build to take it, moving some slots around and lowering defence a bit to gain more recharge.

    EDIT: The more I play around though, its going to take a LOT of recharge to make Painbringer or the other one even near-perma. Im starting to wonder f its worth the effort. Does anyone with pain just not bother to take them?

    She could keep them both perhaps by giving up Maneuvers. It's only like a 5% def bonus, even fully slotted. Personally, I'd rather have the additional heal, and the def debuff on Life Drain will be more than 5% worth of the enemy's attack anyway.
    And a LotG set mule, but you're right, its mostly tere ato make up the final difference to bring my ranged defence up to 45%+ The question, though, is where I would get the slots to suitably enhance another attack (or heal)?
  19. Hmm, anyone who's used the set have any comment? I mighstart building for defence and just stop when it gets to the point that I feel I can more ro less solo anything, then move on to recharge at that point.
  20. Doesnt neglecting defence impede your ability to absorb the wrath of angry 8-player spawns, somewhat? OR do you find your effective hit point/healing pool is so great with BG that you're effectively unkillable even without it?

    Mmm, unfortunately guys with guns don't really fit the iamge (and Ive been told Mercs are just gimped anyway). As I say, I'm looking to familiarize myself with the class before demon summoning and side-switching become available.

    On that note, how do other would-be tankerminds deal with annoying melee pets that charge into melee? My problem of course, is that the healing and resistance buffs are largely PBAoE, but if I follow them into melee the whole thing wont work s well, since hte build is gearede towards ranged defence, and its unlikely tht I could cap both that and melee without making unacceptable compromises in performance otherwise.
