from here.
"Guided by the Legacy Chain mystics, Statesman tracked the origin of these radiating ley lines to a quiet, unassuming city park. By the light of the full moon, Statesman approached the small park from which the unearthly power emanated. "Without warning, an ancient magic lashed Statesman with its luminescent tendrils, capturing him helpless with no Freedom Phalanx to back him up. Lured by an unknown hand, Statesman had unwittingly walked into a trap designed to drain his powerful energy!"
So now we know why States loves teaming and hates soloing so much: he sucks at it!
I mean, he didn't even have a Breakfree in his Insp tray? Noob!

ROFL. Even worse than that, since he is invulnerable he should have been protected by Unyielding Stance. He must have walked in there without his toggles on. -
My fiance and I both play COH and COV but we generally do not play together, or with the same people. We have played more in COV than we do in COH though.

Positron had some great lines(ok you all had some great lines. I just loved his comments about greys and standing around all day.

As we were fighting the player controlling Manticore in the end of beta event, he started letting loose some smack talk. Pretty funny. Asked who wanted the "enema arrow" and then plugged his Web of Arachnos book.
Screens of his dialog below:

Positron also did alot of smack talking. He went on about how his armor held in his power so what chance did we have of hurting it. -

You can read the story during a task force (or anyone's mission) by clicking on the i button next to the mission on the missions drop down.
Enjoy.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wish they would make a note of this somewhere. This lack of knowledge is astounding to me due to how prolific it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
You cannot read what the contact says when you go back to him after the mission. You also have to be on top of it and read the mission notes while the TF is going, and that is not always something people remember when they get ambushed before the mission. There is no way to read the info after the mission short of looking it up online. I think(atleast hope) that everyone knows they can click the i for more information, it is not the same as having the whole thing summed up though and there is no way to get the final message from calling the contact after the last mission. Besides forgetting most TFs are so long that by the end you are looking for shortcuts and just want to end the thing. It is hard to remember checking for story when you are in that mindset. -

Well, this one makes the "Lame List" as well. I suppose it's good there was never a Souvenir for the Shard TF's otherwise they'd be forced to datamine.
[/ QUOTE ]
They did have souvenirs for the Shadow Shard task forces. Unfortunately, they stopped awarding them about two months ago without providing any advance notice to the players.
So that means that those of us that completed them in the last two months are basically screwed. We get no reward whatsoever unless we choose to redo all 30 hours of our work.
[/ QUOTE ]
All Souvenirs have been removoed from all TFs. If you petition for one you get a support e-mail that points you to a thread here on the forums. It is not an official thread announcing the change, just a thread where someone pointed out the issue and CuppaJo happened to respond to it. It is simply the worst customer service interaction I have ever run into online. Not everyone in game reads the forums so they should not be a method of announcing things like that, but even if they are used in that way an official thread should be used. A GM should never e-mail me a link to a player created thread. -

You guys can't be serious about this. How can you datamine the game when badges first came out for all the TF's completed before the badges, but you cannot datamine for these new TF badges?
The Shard TF's take MANY MANY hours to complete, and this is utter slap in the face to everyone who has completed them already. The first one took me 10 hours, the second took 7, the third around 4, and the last about 6. That's a lot of time to spend doing something in the game and then have someone tell you that you have to do it all over again.
You know, even if it takes a long time to complete, I think datamining is a good solution, and it will make everyone much happier. It's really assinine to put somebody through that Dr. Quarterfield's TF a second time for no good reason other than absolute laziness. Because let's get to the heart of the matter: datamine CAN be done; you just don't want to do it. That laziness in my mind and unacceptable to your paying customers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Between the lack of datamining and the removal of all TF souvineers(I'm much more upset about that) there is no point in doing a TF that does not currently have a badge until I5 comes out and there was no point in any that you have done up until now that did not have a badge. You don't get the badge or souvenier as a reward, you don't get the story unless you are the team leader since you no longer have the souveneer to read, and if you are autoexemplared down to complete it you do not get any XP. The Taskforces are simply not worth the risk when you can do your storyarcs and get more rewards as well as story. I really don't see what they are hoping to accomplish by removing Tf souveniers and since they already datamined for TF badges once before I don't really see what they are hoping to accomplish by not doing it now. -

First off I am referring to the comic book and the CoV movies so don't read if you think something may be spoiled for you.
Ok so first off, in the CoV movie they show Manticore who teleports all of about 2 feet and then fires his bow.
In the new comic it says that Manticore has no super powers. In issue 3 he is able to shoot through/past Statesman without even realizing he could. He is then congratulated on his first super power.
Ok, so putting 2 and 2 together there is only one conclusion. Everyone screws with Manticore. He is a guy with no super powers and the comic shows that he gets absolutely no respect from his team.
How did he teleport? Someone on his team with teleport friend did it to him as a little joke. Why else would he teleport a couple feet to shoot a bow which is a RANGED weapon? It makes no sense at all unless he was being picked on.
I for one was on a TF when the leader picked up team teleport. The guy kept moving us all over the place against our wishes; even during battle. It got so bad that we all had to quit the TF with only one mission left.
So sad that there is an annoying player on that SUPER team of heroes. For shame!
[/ QUOTE ]
There was no reason to quit the TF you are describing. Just turn on prompt to teleport. In fact turn in on even if you don't have someone griefing you. -

My guess is because Altlas Park is the first choice and Galaxy City is the second. A lot of people seem to just roll with the default, especially if they don't know the difference.

It is the Statue. People for some reason like to gather under it. Plus you can get to the hollows from there and everyone knows they will have to visit it atleast once. -

I was under the impression that while Zeus did make life harder for mankind, it was as a response to the actions of prometheus. After prometheus' first transgression against Zeus teaching mankind to cheat zeus of some of his sacrifices, he mand the earth less bountifull and removed fire from the world. After prometheus restored fire, Zeus exacted punishment on him and also saw to the creation of pandora and her box which lead to all the evils present in the world today, (pandora was made wife to One of prometheus's brothers)
[/ QUOTE ]
That brother is a character I play on City of Heroes. His name is Ephemetheus. My version of him is a Fire/Fire tank who was given mastery over a living flame by his brother. -

4) Scrappers should get less debt from dying (they do it a lot they are used to it). Alternatively you can actually have a power that reduces the XP debt from dying.
[/ QUOTE ]
My scrapper rarely dies. Far less than any other class I play. They are basically a tanker lite as far as defense goes. It is not unusual for me to go 5 levels without debt on him, but I can't go more than a level or two on my defenders, controllers, or blasters. -
[ QUOTE ]
Couple of changes we're making in I5:
1) Instead of the first five levels being debt free, the first TEN levels will be debt free.
2) XP debt will be halved on mission maps (that includes outdoor mission maps, too).
[/ QUOTE ]
Very cool, I might actually do the hollows content before level 10-11 now. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also funny is when we get asked if our 'girls' are together, you know, as a couple. To which more laughter at the keyboard ensues. We'll say yes but that we're a straight married couple playing as a team. To which there's usually a lengthy pause as the asking player processes the information then comes back with something akin to "That's so cool!" And then more laughter from our side of the keyboards wondering why the long pause before the comment.
Now I very rarely play a male toon because it just makes me laugh so much I can't play effectively - I'm just too girly even in character and 'he' usually gets laughed at or hit on by just as girly male toons.
[/ QUOTE ]
I do the same, but my fiance won't let me flirt with her in game when I have a female character in. -
I want to thank the devs for not only a great game, but 2 great updates(I didn't play before I2) that have both made the game more enjoyable for me.
-
I originally was against having a female character, but once I came up with an idea and backstory for one I decided to get over the macho attitude and just do it. I don't get angry when someone thinks I'm female because that character is a female. I once teamed with a female character as both a male and female throughout the day and was completely sure it was an actual female. Then he mentioned that his wife was home and she would kill him if he didn't take out the trash.

Statesman,
First off let me just say how cool it is of you to start this thread. Attempting to answer many of the common questions is definately always welcome. My question is if you will ever comment on the thread calling for SuperStrength, or something like it to be given to scrappers? The thread asking to be able to punch the bejeezus out of things. A yes, no, or simply any kind of acknowledgement over there would be appreciated.
I Too want to punch the bejeezus out of things.
