that would make them 3 dimensional losers.

Something about that line, I just love it

Let me ask you a question and please give a honest reply:

Do you really think the change to SS/SJ would have happen if there was no PvP in issue 4?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dunno what the person you're asking will say about this, but I'll take a pop at the question. Here I go:

    Yes.

Particularly in SS' case, the power was too good compared to other travel powers, the inherent aggro management built into the power to make it usable running down city streets was obviously not intended as a shortcut for getting around taking Stealth. Testing in the Arena mostly likely helped bring this issue to the Dev's attention, but the problem was already there pre-Arena and would have been changed eventually with or without Arena testing. You do see there is a difference in powers changed *for* PvP and powers changed *as a result* of high-visibility PvP testing, right?

IMO, anyone who *didn't* see this coming are the ones suffering a little self-delusion. Maybe they thought that certain powers were sacred calves never to be touched, looks like the Devs disagree. Now that we see that the Holy SS is indeed touchable, next on the tweak list - Hasten, that 70% is going way down.

I do think these alterations are large enough now that we might see a free respec now, tho.

    Blaster role

I find it interesting that Statesman does not disagree that a problem exists with blasters and their balance comparative to scrappers, just that he has "no intention" of tweaking blaster secondaries which many folks believe to be the crux of the problem. I suspect States is well aware of the issue, just that its likely hard to justify the expenditure necessary to revamp what would amount to an entire AT when CoV is a bigger focus at this time. What we'll likely see if more of a kludge-fix instead of taking the time to do it right, perhaps the ancillary blaster choices will be given a defensive boost or somesuch.

But make no mistake about it, the current blaster AT is all askew. Not being willing to correct the errors does not make the errors go away. I can accept that such major alterations are difficult this late in a game's life but I would at least like to see some indication that lessons learned from CoH will make it into CoV. If a blaster-like AT exists in the upcoming game, and I imagine such a beast is indeed in there, hopefully the design is more along the lines of primary ranged, secondary support instead of secondary melee.
  4. Wish the Guide to Guides was updated with this info, how'd it manage to fall so far off the front page? This is primo stuff, like we need yet another Regen guide
  5. Completed this TF earlier today with a pickup group, complete buncha strangers to me. Went surprisingly well considering that The devs are without a doubt learning and growing as the game progresses, Striga set a vey high bar for the next zone and its accompanying missions/TFs.

If you haven't done the Hess TF yet, what are you waiting for? Go find a group and do it now!
  6. Hover gets a little faster as you level like Fly does IIRC, if you haven't looked at it in awhile you've probably leveled to the point where the difference is noticable.

I think that crafting or item gathering would ruin this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

By the classical definition of these words in a MMO context, yeah probably. But I think crafting-esque functionality can be implemented into the game without causing the sky to fall, and it'll look something like how the existing Temporary Powers work, probably 1-time-transferable, probably to teammates or SGers only.

    [ QUOTE ]
I think that sonic-based powers will be better in support than on offense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We've already been told that its a controller/defender powerset, so yeah its likely to fit that support role. Judging from the behavior of Maestro, the set "feels" alot like Mind Control.

    The link.. http://www.dignews.com/feature.php?story_id=6785

Ew. "Digital Entertainment News"? Haven't came across this site before, and the "interview" read more like a paid advertisement.

As for the date... was hoping for this weekend, guess they're still datamining the test server.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah, the hazard zone concept doesn't seem to be working as intended. Supposedly, soloers should be hunting small packs in city zones while groups should be raking in XP in hazard zones, but it's quite the opposite.

Both my AR/Dev (44) and Fire/Dev (42) blasters farmed minions in hazard zones like Boomtown or Terra Volta - mostly solo. Conversely, my defender gets annoyed when a group of 5 kill-steals the pack of 3 or 4 minions he had just Fulcrum shifted in Brickstown.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Part of the problem is that you don't hafta leave the cities to find the large spawns that were once only found in hazard zones. Don't recall exactly when the change took place but once upon a time almost all city spawns were 2-3 mobs, now i'm seeing groups of 8 in steel canyon.

I had a glowie stuck in a wall, of course the one glowie of many that would actually end the mission, and GM Hughe showed up quickly (within ten minutes) to help me out. During prime time yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Had much the same thing happen last nite, glowie for an outdoors-door-mish was nowhere to be found but GM_Sean popped up within 10 minutes and ported me to it. Kinda funny, the glowie was *behind* the forcefield wall I'm hugely impressed with both the response time and the friendliness of the GMs so hats off to you good folks!

I suspect the minority who complain about these things started the interaction on poor footing, if I was a GM and received a rude petition from some whiny 12-year-old upset that he "can't find this train he's supposed to board" I'd likely not be in too big of a rush to lend a hand!

The game player part of me likes this because it's an advantage for me. It means I'll be defeated less often.

The roleplayer part of me asks "How can I use inspirations if I'm slept or stunned or held?" That part is bothered that these new inspirations will be available.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ya know, I started to mention this in my own posting until my brain wisely suggested that I look at the current inspirations for precedents. Are there any existing pills that I can pop while I'm under a status effect? It turns out there is. Revives! So the idea of being able to trigger an anti-status inspiration while sleeping or stunned doesn't seem that odd to me when you can pop a pill while *dead*

Still don't like the idea of two anti-status insps. Merge this post-effect ability with Iron Wills, replace one with the other, however you want to look at it, but we don't have enough insp slots to be playing an inspiration arms race.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
While this is a good step, isn't it redundant with the Iron Will-type inspirations? I mean yea, using these after-the-fact does mean you've lost your toggles, so there's some use for pre-emptive inspirations, but it's not efficient to carry both and it was never practical to use pre-emptive ones except for specific bosses/AVs anyways.

Why not add this functionality to those?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gonna agree with this sentiment, appreciate the addition but not entirely sure its necessary. Somehow my poor glass cannon has managed to get along either by taking out the status effect casters first or by keeping an Iron Will handy. Feels like an (albeit minor) dumbing down of the game IMO.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
So far all we have is epic ATs which im looking forward to and a new zone/villian group?
    Thats it......?
What have the devs been doing all this time?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ow! My Brain!
  14. might want to edit in a "\coh" to the end of that URL
  15. Maybe Statesman just saved a bunch on his car insur... just kidding Not like it hasn't been posted a half-dozen times already by you kids out there (you know who you are!) who are too anxious to post before actually reading the thread!

I'm gonna hafta call Bull on the green meteors, this announcement has got everyone re-evaluating every power in the game they'd not seen previously and deciding its a Foo encounter. If I'm wrong, so be it. Show me some green meteor snapshots as they sound really cool.

IMO - its an event tying in the launch of Issue Two. Like a Time of Troubles for CoH...

Wow, I'm sure glad I read this... I was going to get leadership with my provoking tanker, and here it turns out the manual is outdated yet again. -_-

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think we're rapidly approaching the time where an updated PDF manual should be made available.
