  1. I remember you. I saw Guardian Pixie not too long ago, from TWWP. Welcome Back!
  2. I don't think you're too late. Meet on the hill in Talos each Monday and Wednesday, 8pm central, 9PM Eastern.

Some of the gang are distracted, working on the alpha slot, but I think most will have done that by now on at least a few of their 50s.

    Incarnate Q&A

I've no question at the moment, but an answer that some folks may have.

On my blaster, Ukase Rex, I decided to replace one of the alpha slot enhancements with another. When I took the first out, I could not replace it with the other. It had disappeared. I sent a petition and logged on another character. When I came back on, all the alpha slot enhancements were now available to use again.

Could have been some lag issue, not really sure.

But, I have confirmed that you can remove one, and replace it with another without anything happening to the one that you took out - you can put that first one right back in if you want. I've heard stories of a timed delay before you could replace it, but I didn't experience that.
  4. Yes, I am the one that said Liberty is one big giant supergroup.

Fan_Mail is essentially correct. An SG is pretty much unneccessary for most people nowadays.

Consider this - the defeated baddies drop salvage randomly. The more you defeat, the more they drop. You'll need a place to stash that stuff. A personal bin of 50 is simply not enough. (you can use the vault or personal storage space in an SG base. The number of items stored is 50 for a level 50. I can't remember if it scales down at lower levels.)

Some groups will allow you to take what you need, whenever you need it. Others have a take one, give one policy. Either way, there are many excellent SGs out there. Should you choose to start your own, shoot me a tell, and I'll form a coalition with you so you can use all the amenities until you get enough prestige to build your own base.

If you find yourself wanting to team with the same people all the time,
just keep looking, I'm sure the right one will come along.
  5. I was wondering where you ran off to. Glad to have you back in the land of the virtual living.
  6. My first thought is to say that anyone who would name their toon in such a way, without any spaces deserves what they get. But, my first thoughts are generally rude, so I do my best to suppress them.

My second thought is to tell JBL that it is horrificly easy to level up in this game, teamed or solo. I level so fast, that I am now sometimes turning xp off because I'm tired of crafting IOs for my toons. (I craft the highest IO I can, usually, as I want my toons to have the best chance possible given that all I do is mash through an attack chain without much thought to any other sneaky tactics like invis and tp ally.)

*thinks to self, "That's got to be a run-on sentence or something. Eh, who cares?" *

I remember a time when leveling was pretty hard to do. I would swear that xp has increased since 2007. Sure seems that way to me. Besides, JBL, you now have a level 50. The pressure is now off. You can coast with your other toons.

Oh, JBL, you should really try to team with guys like -horus and Fitzsnickered and their many alts. Those guys are comic geniuses. Fast typers also. They'll keep ya laughing, for sure.
  7. I think that a great deal will depend on the IO sets and the alpha slot.
I've only got one brute, by no means an expert. But, I'm smart enough to know that Fitzsimmons is an expert, despite his comment about being sure the experts would chime in.

My brute only deals any kind of real damage when around multiple foes. If there's just one AV, I don't think 20 reds will last long enough to take one out. But, I could be wrong. Why not just try one and see?
  8. Patience and persistence.

    If you want purples -

    Run hero tips.
    Run tfs

Use reward merits, convert to hero merits.
Use Hero merits to buy the recipes for enhancers that are selling for 150million, like lotg global recharges.

When you have sold 2 or 3 of these (after you crafted them), place a low bid for the recipe (not the enhancement) that you want.

Wait a week. Play for fun. Forget about purples. Check the market. Hey, look you got a purple recipe.

    Repeat.

Any purple drops you get are just "lagniappe".

    Earth's Embrace

    I'm slow. Or late. I've got a Stone/Fire tank, level 50.

I've played Fire/Stone before, enjoyed it, figured I'd try it the other way around. Anyway, before I started my respec, I took another look at the powers I was happy with and the way I had them slotted, and what the other options were. With the alpha slot being able to address certain areas with endurance, accuracy, etc, I felt a closer look was warranted.

In any event, I have a question about earth's embrace. The power can be slotted with End Redux, Heal, Reduce recharge and damage resistance.

The first three categories of enhancement, I know how they work. But I am at a loss to understand how damage resistance works in this power. Does it add a percentage of resistance to the health that the power just gave me? All of it? I sure would like to know 1) what is the recommended slotting?
    2) why is it recommended? (unless it's just obvious)
  10. Hello heroes of Freedom!

Although Dr. Gemini certainly doesn't need me to write any of this, I'm going to do it anyway. I used to be on Triumph and have had the privilege of running through a few AVs with him, and following his direction at Hamidon raids.

This is not only a good player, but a class act. If the so-called "elite" of Triumph aren't smart enough to know this, then I'm just at a loss for words.

I don't play on Freedom that often, but I think it needs to be said, Dr. Gemini will only make Freedom a better server than it was already.
  11. Okay, I have no idea what caused this problem, but I do know a work around. When playing, switch to windowed mode. Then, you can just minimize cov/h and check your e-mail, or whatever.

In the meantime, I would run a dxdiag, and send the results to support, and explain what the problem is. It may be a good while before they reach you, but they are the experts.
  12. That's just plain scary! Glad things got straightened out.
  13. I have considered myself primarily a soloist since I started playing this game back in 2005.

I started with an emp/elec defender. If you avoid the forum builds and use some sense, any build is soloable- although, some will work better than others.

Attending an MSR, if you're online when they happen, is the easiest way to get those vanguard merits. And you know what? You can be on a team during MSR, and still "Solo". Nobody is going to tell you where to stand while someone "pulls" or "herds". You don't even have to respond when they say "Welcome!". Just use as many AoEs as you can, and you should get plenty of vanguard merits.

Now, if you're not online, and you've done Leventara's arc, that arc alone should have provided you with the vanguard merits you need to get the grai piece.
  14. Just a guess here. From what I can gather about the alpha slot - depending on which one you choose, some folks will no longer need hasten, or perhaps they used a "mule" power to hold a LOTG global recharge - and with the recharge boost from the alpha, they may no longer need that mule.

I know I pulled out my HOs simply to sell them. In my mind, they're pretty much worthless - Wentworths has several IO sets that will do the same thing and provide other boosts as well. (admittedly, the IO sets may not provide the same percentages)

  17. I used to play on Infinity, back when I was trying to get a 50 on each server. I predominantly play on another one, but there is really a very good player base here. And though over time, my other server has shown me some truly exceptional, great players (and the personalities behind them), it has shown me a lot of ...unsavory folks as well.

On my run to 50 with my blaster here, I never ran into any unsavory characters. I'm sure I could have found some, but if I couldn't play on my preferred server, I'd be here. As it stands, I still play here a couple of days a week. I tend to get confused, forgetting what server I'm actually on.

Anyway, I just wanted to chime in that Infinity is a very good server, and anyone should have no qualms about investing their time here. If you're not finding that pane that pops up and asks you to team, use /search or Find button on your chat box and form your own team. It's quite easy. Many players want to know what tasks are in store for them before they join, so just send them a tell, and that courtesy alone usually gets you 7 members pretty quickly.
  18. I could be wrong, I've certain been wrong before - but I've never seen more than 100 or so in either channel. When did you look last? Am I missing something or sleepier than I thought?

Oh, I do know one thing - a vast majority of the members of one channel are members in the other - so what difference does it make? There are players who are members of one supergroup who also have toons that are part of another one. Who really cares? Not me - just so long as there is a channel
  19. You pose an interesting question. When I started my SG on Triumph about 6 years ago, there were about 10 of us. Three were role players in another SG on another server that blessed us with their presence.

After a couple of months, one of the girls asked me where I lived and why didn't our SG have a real life meeting. I was stunned, really. It never occurred to me to meet anyone in real life. I joked and asked her if she was some kind of nut, who in the world would want to meet someone they were teaming with - it's just a pretend game.

Since then, I've learned that there are people who have not only met since playing this game, there are people who have married.

I ran into a childhood friend of mine in this game. That was kind of weird, but cool. (Especially when you know your friend is playing a chick toon, and your friend is a guy. I know many guys are playing chick toons, but when I know the guy behind it, it just makes it odd for me. )

Myself, I can't see going to a meet and greet. I play to unwind, not to socialize. So ignorant I was, when I bought this game, I had no idea what the letters MMO stood for. It never occurred to me that anyone would ever want to play a game that thousands of others were playing. Heh, the first time I got a tell, I wasnt' even aware it was from a person, I thought it was some random NPC interacting with me!

I met one guy who was one of the original beta testers, he left the game before they even had badges, I never teamed with him, though.

I dated a woman who was a beta tester, had even asked me if I would be interested in Beta testing the game, but I told her I didn't have the time. (If I knew then what I know now!)
That's the extent of my social interactions with any player.
  20. I am thankful for many things - my faith and my freedom chiefly.

    Real World Hero

My reply to this is primarily for a "bump". I know Liberty has many players with tremendous hearts, but sadly, sometimes the wallet size doesn't match.

Myself, I've just never heard of these charities and already have budgeted funds for other charitable causes.

Still, because I think this is a grand cause, I'll take a look, maybe I can save a few bucks somewhere.

    Theme Songs

Hmm, no wonder I'm playing a little sluggish lately. I've been listening to NPR!

    PW's war journal

I'm thinking the abundance of speed boost or lack of it is due largely to my big fingers and small keyboard. Half the time I'm trying to siphon speed from my target, and when I hit the SB instead, it just gives it to whoever is nearby, and the opposite is also true.

On the Hess TF, I was playing the brute, so I know in this case, it wasn't me.

Speedboost is not something I think about when I play the grav/kin controller. I'm thinking about holds and hurling interesting objects at the baddies. I try to give it upon mission entry, and before a battle, but if you're already battling, I'm usually trying to hold or heal. For me playing a kinetic secondary is counter-intuitive. The idea of needing to slot accuracies for a heal, after playing an empath just goes against the grain.

I'm basically making myself play one to better understand the set.
  24. Hey, fastest or not, it's still a speedy time. I'm pretty lousy at speed unless it's one of those go click a glowie missions, so I'll just wish whoever tries it a good run.
