For the 12/30 run
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. yes
4. Ill/rad controller - primarily letting pets do what they do and buffing and debuffing.
5. Very Rare
6. The trial lasted about an hour and half.
7. No defeats.
Notes: I did have Des for the first 2/3 of the trial, and conveniently lost her before the second phase of the bomb badge effort. -
Quote:I can full understand your perspective. That's part of the reason I want to run these.Would you believe that even after so many UG runs, I still don't have the Master Of- on anyone? Sola, Mist, K and Han are all still missing one or more of the badges, and my actual badge-collector is the tank that I refuse to take anywhere near the thingl!
It's been a lot of fun doing them, though, and as always thanks for cat-herding.
Re: MoM... I'm not a fan of that trial, I'm afraid, so I'll just wish you good luck on those, and pass on joining them myself.
I would write a bit and try to change your mind, but I'll let FCM do that. -
Quote:Unfortunately, my attendance will be less consistent after work starts up again (January 3rd), and during the week I frequently am not home until about 9:00pm pacific time. I'm free most weekends, though, and can usually be present for most trials on saturday or sunday. I've been enjoying long weekends (or better) since November, but that will be ending soon.
You'll just have to take a laptop to work! Or quit, or something!
-
First, I want to thank several people who have helped make hosting the UGT a lot more fun that it otherwise would be.
@Cinder Frost
@Brightfires
@FlyingCodeMonkey
@Karmaa
I'm sure there are others - but you four seem to be on every run.
Please know your efforts are not unnoticed.
I think that we've run this trial enough - and though I hope to keep running it, I'd like to start having MoM at a regular time as well.
By now, most have gotten the badges out of it, so all we have to do is plow through it.
I will need a day or so to make the macros - (hey, a new toon, I'll call him Macro-Man!)
I'm still reading about TPN, and it doesn't seem that popular - except to people who've never run it. But, TPN can wait.
MoM is short enough that I think two runs are doable. It would be nice if we could hold one half the team accountable for bringing +3's and the other half +1s. I would think that only an empath or a rad could probably get away with being a regular 50. I'm undecided on this. I'd like for people to bring whatever they want, provided they can read and follow instructions.
Tax mentioned something about the Hami Raids being on Tuesday or Thursday - and Tanker Tuesday is Tuesday --- So, I'm thinking MoM should be Saturdays and Mondays at 10:00 pm -
I have a vague recollection of actually being on a mission solo.
Typically, aside from tfs and incarnate trials, I don't even do missions. I think at level 40 is when I get Tina Macintyre as a contact, I'll solo those AVs as EBs for my squishies and tanks, but my scrappers take them as AVs.
By using DFB to level 10, I do Positron, parts 1 and 2, then synapse, and then Sister Psyche. I do have to do a Moonfire to get to 25 so I can do Citadel.
Then I'll do Hess to get closer to 30. Sometimes, I make it, sometimes I don't. If not, I'll do the respec tf.
Then I'll do Manticore.
If I've been able to speak to the latin student without having to run the arc, I will probably go to Croatoa and solo those arcs - as the defeats are part of getting the Geas accolade. And, I fight bosses on most toons - except on defenders and the controllers that don't have pets yet. -
What? An MM got a very rare? We may need to file a bug report on this.....
-
Thanks, but with 25 macros, that's a lot of cut and paste. I know I can use /wdwsave to copy my window layout from one toon to the next, seems like I ought to be able to load macros up - just not sure if it can be done leaving out the binds.
-
I have gone to great pains to create some macros. But, I'd like to find a way to copy those macros over to another character - without impacting my binds.
If it messed with my binds, my khelds would have a tough time!
Any way to do this? (this isn't one or two, this is close to 25 macros - I'd just as soon not redo them by creating them fresh for 10 or more characters. ) -
Quote:Neither of you are wrong - well the leader in question should have explained some things to you.I was just in Pocket D and some guy announced, "iTrial forming". I sent a tell asking which one.
His response, "One we haven't done"
My response, "LOL Well which have you done"
His response, "I have lead all but UGT"
My response, "Not trying to be a pest, but does that mean you are going to do UGT?"
We sent a few more tells and I say, " I understand. Ty for your patience with me"
His response, "That's fine, but next time leave it to me to form"
Wait, what? Is it so wrong to want to know which iTrial? I didn't even respond because I thought I was being gracious with my last comment even though I was already a little frustrated, then to have him end it with that...am I wrong here and not seeing something?
You're trying to get lore unlocked. This means that the odds are that at best you are +1 from alpha. Unlikely, but possible, you may have already unlocked Destiny and made it tier 3 for another level shift.
If I as leader am 50+3, the SSK for teams does not apply to level shifts. You're still level 50+1. At 50 +3, I have a hard enough time with a level 54 +2 AV. But, you see, the leader in question doesn't know you, or if you're level shifted. He could invite you, only to find out that you've never done a certain trial, and he'd have to explain all the little details - which not every leader knows very well. Half of the "leaders" just assume that everyone knows what the deal is, and don't really lead at all, they just recruit.
Many times on liberty, I used to get angry because the leaders wouldn't know what trial they were running. My blasters would do BAF, and my tanks and scrappers would do Lambda.
Eventually, I started to lead the trials a bit, and realized that some teams are ill-suited to certain tasks. Or, I lacked the strategy to make a certain team composition work for a specific trial -so I would want to reserve naming the specific trial the league would do.
If we only have 9 players, well, it's either Lambda or MoM. If we have over 16 players, well, it's going to have to be BAF, Keyes, UGT or TPN. If I have a host of +2s and +3's with about 5 clarions, I would opt for UGT. If not, maybe Keyes or MoM.
TPN, I'm still learning that one, so I'd just let someone else take over for that run.
But, that's just me.
Just join in for whatever they're doing, if they'll let you. You can always quit before they're queued if you don't like what's on the menu. -
Sold!
But I have another.
Level 10, uncrafted. 2.1 billion. PM me in game or on the forums. -
On my ill/rad troller today:
12/29/11
1. Did the league get the 60 thread bonus?
yes
2. Did the bomb badge effort succeed?
No
3. Was the Avatar beaten while the seedling was spawned?
Yes
4. What AT role were you playing ? ill/rad controller - support, some damage from PA and phantasm.
5. What reward did you get?
Rare
6. About how long did the trial last and how often did you go afk for more than a minute or two?
Trial lasted about an hour and 15 minutes I think, bomb badge was not attempted. Escorted Desdemona the entire trial. -
There are numerous global channels - and for the most part, they are public - which means all you have to do is /chanjoin LB and/or /chanjoin LFA
There are others, but those are two of them. Of the two, LB is more populated - and as such, probably has coarser language on occasion.
LFA doesn't have the chatter that LB does, but it seems to me like most of the folks belong to both channels.
As for having a lowbie friendly channel - both are.
I see recruiting for red side dfb trials, as well as level 15 blue side stuff.
If I'm on my 50 doing hero tips, and I notice someone trying to do positron, if I need that tf on an alt (or the toon I'm on), I'll send that someone a tell. I think even active but smaller SGs will use LB or LFA to fill out their teams.
With all the IOs, they are made with salvage - and there's only so many places within a base to stash salvage. So, many have their own SG to stash all their stuff. Others just sell it, or craft with it as they get it.
Either way, the global channel is how I do ALL of my teaming. It's like a gigantic SG. After a while, you'll learn who's a solid player but mean, a nice but competent player, or nice and incompetent. Liberty, like every server, has all of those and more. -
If the MSR kills your card, I'm sad, because it used to kill mine - and so did the UGT. And the UGT was way worse for me than the MSR ever was. Even with a smaller league.
We ran a UGT just now and had 4 that didn't even have a level shift. They felt it, I'm sure, despite pretty good buffs.
In the higher trials, level shifts are important- but since I know you can read, just let me know, you're more than welcome to tag along. Historically, those that ask questions on the forums are far more likely to be literate -which is a necessity to succeed in incarnate trials, I'd say.
The only time when it gets to be a problem is when the same people are bringing their unshifted toons and never bring the ones that have the strength we need. There have been times when I had to cancel a UGT because we just didn't have enough people that were level shifted. 4 or 5 is about as many as we can handle and still be sure of success.
And, it's the ones that aren't level shifted today that will help my unlevel shifted empath out tomorrow. -
One day, perhaps, they'll allow the 60 thread bonus to apply regardless of the length of time it takes to drop the self-repairing and lichen-infested war-walkers.
For now, provided the entire team is paying attention - and there is one solid tanker that knows what to do - the 60 thread bonus is easy enough.
One player not moving out of the area - particularly a player with pets - (Like DESDEMONA!) can really impede the progress. The lichen infested walker moves very slowly - especially when distracted. And sometimes, Des gets it fouled up in the geometry.
The key seems to be working very fast on the first walker before Des has a chance to aggro. Buffs for the lead tank are critical - tank dies - without a fast rez, the walker will lurk about, taking time off the clock. Typically our leagues get this one within 1 to 2 minutes, once the tank is in position. Then, all except the lead tank clear out - Des simply will not - otherwise this would go faster. But, the tank usually can grab aggro from Des and get the LIWW into the corner, but because of Des, it takes about a minute and a half. Other players not following the strategy can delay this.
With 6 minutes to go, and 2 used on positioning, 4 minutes is plenty of time to clobber the LIWW.
Thanks for your input, Matt.
The data is still raw, and I need a lot more samples for it to be statistically significant. -
Quote:As a very broad statement, you may wish to avoid Underground, TPN, and MoMayhem until you have at least the Alpha level shift. Those trials have some powerful opposition that can trivially flatten an unshifted character. However, sometimes you luck into a strong league of shifted characters who don't mind bringing along a few folks hoping for good IXP. Trials like UGT and Mayhem will punish a league with too many unshifted characters, though.
Repeated for emphasis! -
Given what you're telling us - I'm not sure why you would be able to fit a BAF in, and not an ITF.
I am pretty sure that my thought process is not with the majority.
But, I'll tell you what I think, well, because you asked.
There are teams capable of finishing an itf in well under 30 minutes. Honestly, it takes almost that long to get a BAF formed, except in peak times. Even so, the fastest I've ever formed one is about 10 minutes, with all the switching and zoning and such.
There are those who love to do itf as a "shard run" - meaning anything from kill all, to kill most or kill what's in the way. They fail to realize that they could almost the same number of baddies by doing a different task force, and then another within the same time frame of one kill all ITF.
(team composition would, of course, make the accuracy of the aforementioned statement vary) - Moreover, by doing Kahn, Itf, Statesman and Lady Grey Tf speed style, they will have had the option of choosing an incarnate component in lieu of merits. If shards are indeed the goal, this is the smarter way, I think.
Kahn tf - 20 minutes with poor debuff
Itf - 15, maybe 20 minutes.
Statesman - 20 minutes, - maybe 30, again, depends on teams experience
LGtf - also about 20-30 minutes.
A kill most itf - could be as short as 45 minutes - but that same team could also rip through the 4 tfs mentioned speed style and come away with far more salvage.
The whole point behind doing the incarnate trials is not really for threads - not directly - but for incarnate salvage - the reward table at the end.
The salvage, as I'm sure you've learned by now, comes in 4 classes:
Common, uncommon, rare and very rare.
As they are called - for most of my toons, the rares and very rares are just that - rare and very rare. In my mind, it is far easier to do 4 weekly tfs and combine shards to make that tier 4 alpha than to use rares and very rares.
It is my playstyle to make the most of my time when I can. So, I don't take the time to do a BAF or LAM unless I'm pretty sure of success. That's why I've always waited until my toons were level shifted with a t-4 alpha. I got into that habit before the iTrials came along. I still do it that way. Fighting +4's is not my idea of a fun time. +3 is plenty hard enough with the scaredy cat way I play.
Yet, given your difficulty and solo nature, I don't think any of that is going to suit your style of play. You may be better off waiting on the incarnate solo path.
However, should you find yourself making time for BAFs and LAMs
here's my priority:
Level Shift.
Forget about Judment, forget about interface. The incarnate path for best results begins with Lore and Destiny.
Now, I already can hear some folks tell me -"Hey, Ukase! Judgement and Interface unlock first!"
Yes, they do. And I say, "so?"
Save your threads and salvage, don't break down you astrals or emps until you get your first piece or rare salvage.
You can only get level shifted through tier 3, which requires a rare plus a couple of
7 commons = 140 threads
1 uncommon = 60 threads
1 rare = Get a drop - don't use 340 threads to make this, and don't use 8 emp merits(160 threads) unless you have so many threads that you can craft all the common components needed to make everything tier 4. Otherwise, you're wasting your resources. (unless you're just in a big hurry to make a Clarion for the UGT - shameless plug)
Usually, by the time you get a rare drop, at least one slot is unlocked. I would still create/craft nothing, except items for the Destiny. It is the most useful for trials. Lore pets are only useful 5 minutes out of 20.
Also, it gives you a level shift. Same with the Lore.
So, for me, in order, I create Destiny, Lore, Judgement and Interface.
Once I get the destiny and lore to tier 3 - I'm 50+3, now I work on the other stuff.
Then, it's just a matter of grinding away.
Oh, let your leader know through a tell if it's your first time on a trial - that way he/she can take measures to inform you as best they can on what's expected.
You may also wish to take a look at the player help section and review the guides on the other trials, UGT, MoM, Keyes, TPN. They give odds of better salvage - and in my mind, a lot more interesting than the other two - but you may not be there yet. (I've done a bunch, it gets dull)
Hope that wasn't too much - I tend to overthink things. -
Quote:May I suggest you take a peek here to refamiliarize yourself without having the added stress of watching your confusion status, health and endurance bar? This is what i remember from the 12/23 UGT:
3. i have no idea... that fight is still "new" to me (been there on 3 different toons totalling maybe 4-5 times).

Quote:2. /start rant
i noticed the most lag just before one of those vote to kick prompts came up (and it may have been the reason for my second CoH crash). It was quite a frustrating run on my end. They really need to make it so you can see the persons name who is spamming that stuff for no reason. /end rant
Is there anyway a league leader can have that option turned off?
I'm not saying we need to kick anyone for the smallest indiscretion. People do get ...involved in what they are doing and may not notice the request chatter or the league chatter. It could very well be that they have the system rewards set up to display in the same area as request - so they could easily miss it. (dunno why they'd set things up like that, but <shrug>)
As far as lag goes, I know money is tight - but an upgrade will solve 90% of your problems. CoH's code has gotten so RAM needy that you really do need about 4 gigs of ram. 2 for your op system and 1.5-2.0 for CoH. -
The league leader turning that thing off...it never even occurred to me to check, but I will, I promise.
My guess is no - as the reason that the vote is in place seems to be if you have an untrustworthy leader - I can't kick any one member by myself once the league starts. So, I would imagine that this is not a setting I can adjust. -
Ah, so this is coming from the exploding Weapon's Crates.
I had seen it once before - and only in Lambda sabotage phase, but couldn't get a picture of it.
Never occurred to me that would do it.
Thanks -

This is still for sale,
2.1 billion, uncrafted
I should be in game for most of the night. -
The long and short of it is this -
if you think/feel that the idea of trading in-game loot for a name is ...a less than savory idea, then you should of course, not make a deal to do so.
Personally, I think Anni is ok. A solid player, albeit one who "looks out for number 1". However, he is fair in his dealings, at least he has been with me.
But, me, I have an imagination, I can always come up with a different name. -
So, why do you think something is wrong?
-
Merry Christmas!
I have a level 10 uncrafted glad proc for sale.
3 installments of 700 million for a total of 2.1 billion
I am not at all certain about when I will be on Christmas day. As for the evening time, I suspect server events will keep me busy from 9:30pm to 12:30 pm Eastern.
But, aside from that - catch me in game @ukase or perhaps through PM here in the forums.
You send two installments, I send the recipe, you send the third.
Thanks! -
3 months ago, I was using xp. Now I have win 7.
It definitely takes some getting used to.
But, you will get used to it. In a month, you really won't even remember xp.
