Oh wait...
Quote:NOTE: I don't care if people PL and farm unless the farming/PLing causes changes to the game that might not have been done otherwise.
So farming actually made a positive change and people should be grateful for it. -
Quote:You mean like giving the number-crunchers a taste of regular drops and once taken away finding out for certain that drop rates have been borked since inventions began?NOTE: I don't care if people PL and farm unless the farming/PLing causes changes to the game that might not have been done otherwise.
Farming may have just saved the game as we know it. -

Quote:It's the double reward for completing a TF mission. Very handy for regular xp-gain, prestige gathering (double end mission bonus is lovely) and even inf.One questions: did Ouroboros always give double mission complete bonus or is this a bug?
Random story; my friend made an Earth/Storm Controller. I'd seen her at the beginning and I saw her to the end. She was so close and yet so far to 50 so on her last night as a levelling toon I took her to the RWZ via Ouroboros with my 50. I led a team of 3 (me, her and another fellow 50) through a couple of RWZ arcs eventually finishing with the 'The Strange Case of Benjamin A. Decker' arc with this Earth/Storm reaching 50 on completion of the very last mission due to the aforementioned bonus. I had anticipated that she would ding 50 but it was perfect timing that it was the very last mission that would do it. -
Quote:Agreed. Some players enjoy PL'ing and farming.
Given the number of times this has been pointed out your inability to grasp the fact is an ongoing mystery.
RP, farming, story arcs, TFs, PL'ing....players should play the game they enjoy, whatever path they end up following.
Here's my take; I have altisis, major case, about 50+ concepts and characters and each of them getting little attention due to my limited playtime being a fair roleplayer. This meant one, prehaps two hours of gametime meaning my levelling had slowed to a snail's crawl.
Then AE burst on to the scene, building and crushing my story-writing hopes with the numerous limits that were imposed as a matter of course (numerous nerfs afterward haven't helped either despite the exception clause) BUT powerlevelling was suddenly more accessable and I was quickly seduced by the flood of xp-gain that flowed like a torrent out of the AE building. Suddenly all those characters I'd neglected could have all that lost time made up to them. Most of them got it too. Characters that had languished in the hell of the single digits were ramped up to cape level and I actually felt better about playing this way. No concept was inaccessable, no alt was ever going lonely, no doubt that I would be playing till all my slots were filled.
Then, like all good things, the ride came to a halt and we were forced to step off. The easy gains have gone replaced by the accessability of a new teaming system and that feeling that was prevelant earlier in the year returned like a scorned lover; I didn't feel like playing. I'm still sitting on a small fortune in tickets, rare salvage drops and recipes AND all those neglected characters are in a much better position than they were 6 months ago.
There's even a couple of bAEbies in there that I still want to play because I took what I learned playing the regular game to pick powers and powersets carefully. Concepts were built, powersets combined, characters were made to be played as was the objective when I played.
Maybe it was a fluke or that I was just the exception (perhaps that I'm just a terrible hoarder and my main has all those invention bagdes to use) but I don't intend on deleting any of mine. I love them all and every one of them is useful. -
Quote:For me it doesn't make a difference since my peak time is usually 11pm-4am but we get absurd emergency maintenance at 2 am which cuts in to mine.Care to explain how you think moving it from 8am to 12pm is better? I honestly cant see how it is.
Edit: I understand that 12 - 2 is roughly the time when the AE and WW come down so can understand them thinking that its better to have 1 maintenance instead of 2, just as a player i dont like that its in the middle of my day during my playtime. Selfish of me ? Yes but thats who i am
So cry me a river, D.
In all seriousness though (and because text is the worse medium for emphasis) it does seem a bit wierd synchronising the daily maintenance times since, I thought, that was mainly for the hardware located in the relevant datacenters.
Too early to cry Doom™? It is the weekend after all... -
Quote:Luck of the draw, so to speak.Ok, get there and it's my second 'kill all' Rikti mission.
The spawns inside are mostly monkeys.
Is this some kind of new annoyance, or has it been going on for a while?
My Dom on the EASIEST setting used get missions which consisted mostly of +1s, whatever group he was fighting. Since this was pre-stamina and pre-i16 difficulty settings it meant I had to outlevel the content slowly by tackling street mobs of lower level or by joining a team where he had support. Needless to say he fell way behind when my MM of six months later rocketed past almost all content with relative ease. -

Quote:I'd be happy if they unlocked the FULL set of Vanguard costume pieces. There's the belt with thigh guard option and a rather nice back detail that we should have since the costume set was supposed to be designed with players in mind and we missed out on these two in particular. The Drill Instructor keep flaunting her thigh guards every time I train up at her and the only person I had them on was my test hero US-side.Now as most are probably aware, my mains have a serious grudge (ok scrapperlock) fascincation with the Rikti and as such even after buying one of everything with my Vanguard Merits, I have over 7000 (I was going to wait for 9000 but then the thread would descend into Vegeta quotes) Merits remaining:
What to do with all these Merits you might ask...
How about:- A purchasable badge for Merits: Vanguard Sword, Shield Member etc. (AE has badges like this as does the Christmas Event)
- Vanguard airstrike temp power (similar to Warburg Nuke but you can buy multiple charges perhaps?)
- Additional Vanguard Weaponry (Dual Vanguard Katana's instead of the Halo one and Vice versa if people prefer the Halo blade on the katana / ninja blade sets as well as the back detail)
- Purchaseable Vanguard items for bases (Staff, Drill Instructor, Firing Range etc)
- Human adapted Rikti armor costume pieces perhaps? (How many people had been jealous of Hro'Drotz's Armor)
A Vanguard table base detail might be nice so you don't have to visit the War Zone to grab a heavy.
While I might not have as many; more use for these merits would be nice or perhaps letting us trade them at least. -
Quote:You should see the run on my Female Thugs MM. It looks like she's swining a couple of jugs back and forth when she has her pistols out.The male's run like they're trying to hold something between their butt cheeks...
A few males, more females though. There does tend to be a lot better options for female characters like being able to wear a T-Shirt over skin which I'd love to do with my main male but can't because the option isn't there and under the Sleeved Jackets; the short sleeve only covers unmapped arms (patterns only cover the chest and not the arms of the torso). Then there's also the lack of shorts on males that aren't skin-tight hot pants or a 36 month vet reward.
So I'm with the 'females look better/have better options' crowd. -
Quote:Well we had colors before....I think the new forums are much better - there are way more people around, so that gives way more opinions and ideas to read about.
Plus, we have pictures, picture sigs and COLORS!
For me; it was covered above. While more people seems to better, there's a reason why despite having a US and EU account I hardly ever posted on the US boards.
I despise the rep system for nothing other than it was similar to those who had 10K~ posts; nothing more than a number that some people take way too seriously. One well thought out post can better a thousand rubbish posts with nothing more than a snarky, sarcastic or generally inane post ending with a smiley.
Now we're part of a bigger community that still gets off on being "FIRST AFTER DEV POST". -
Quote:5 is just too low for a decent name purge. Since we have trial account restrictions now it would be better to set it to at least 14 or so. Several groups I inherited had characters that were inactive for years but they were 6+ so it's little wonder why the last announced name purge didn't do much.- If your account is inactive (as in, unpaid, you can't log in inactive) for 90 days,
- If your character is level 5 or below,
- If they decide to run the name reclaim script (and as I mentioned before, they don't have to tell us when they're doing this), -
In a word; fair. Lot of good changes but not feeling any different than yesterday.
The changes made to the AE are understandable but I've got a workaround for the boss farm nerfs already. They took out all the Quantumns as well.
Lot of QoL changes which are mostly good. Persistent pets are a godsend to MMs and others alike.
Superteaming has its good and bad points. A good point would be that it is easier to make a team since level requirements are no longer an issue for PvE content but at the same time; having that pop-up ask after EVERY zoning is particularly irritating. If I've accepted the term once then it should persist while I'm still teamed. I know the level-range option is there but shouldn't it be the maximum range by default instead of the minimum?
Colour customisation: it's okay but not worth being the centre of attention for an entire issue. Not in the incomplete form it is anyway. I messed with a couple of powersets on my toons but the rest I'm not bothering to change. Once the rest of the powers are filed in (Pool, Ancillary, Patron and Epic ATs) then it'll be worth it.
So for some; this issue is the greatest one yet. For me; it was Tuesday -

Pity the pet level nerf bug wasn't fixed in time. Pets are still spawning at -1 instead of being even con.

Bit of a threadjack but on the subject of old and new; the 'Cape' mission.
Heroside; I hit twenty with several heroes. The only thing which strikes me is a single line the trainer says, something about visiting the City Rep in Atlas. Despite getting the stupid AE contact popping up immediately at lv5 I get nothing. Only foreknowledge that 20 = cape+costume slot. A visit to the City Rep, some blather about honouring the sacrifice of Omega Team and Hero One, go talk to a guy in Galaxy: Paco Sanchez.
And so it begins. I get to Paco; he tells me all about how Hero One influenced his life and tells me to go to Skyway, talk to Sgt. Suzanne Bernhard. Okay, nice and easy. One tram-ride later in Skyway and Suzanne is nearer the south end of Skyway. Lucky I always take a travel power or this would be really arduous. Get to Suzanne, she tells me how Hero One affected her life too and tells me to go to Justin Greene.. in Independence Port. Now if the green line wasn't here that would've meant a hell of a long trudge back to the yellow line, switch to Steel, trudge all the way up to the green line and then to I.P. or enter by the connecting gateway. We get to Independence Port and Justin has decided to set his home up in the north-west corner which means a half-mile journey through mobs up to four levels above me. Thank Fly I can just pass over them all. I get to Justin and this is where the fun begins. After he tells me how Hero One helped him I get sent to Perez/Atlas/Talos/Steel/Skyway *delete as appropriate. So after trudging three or four in-game miles I get sent to another zone that means a good long journey back and possibly a few more zonings. Lucky I have a few self-port powers available including mission teleporter which is a few seconds animation and instant zoning to the entrance. Inside is five Lost mob spawns, one of which is the defendable Time Capsule (which looks uncannily like several magic artifact storages I've been finding in various other missions and not a giant pod with a Union Jack on it). Depending on which AT and how many inspirations I have; the rather uninteresting mission is over with th last line being "The temptation to look inside is too great" so apparently in a bit of forced-narrative I don't look inside.
Now let's compare with the villainside version: again, the same message at the trainer but thankfully my starting contact told me to come back when I was 20. Oh look, I have his cell number because I did all that work for him early on (I choose Burke most times). Click the call button; "Hello Burke... oh. You want me to talk to someone? Alright" Talk to Lorenz Ansaldo in Sharkhead. Oh sweet, that's just a ferry-ride away since I'm in Cap Au Diable. I get to Lorenz and he tells me he has a little problem and needs a warehouse cleared. A defeat-all with some destructable objects and it's Longbow. Sweet. Generic attacks with the occasional elemental thrown in for variety. AND I get to blow up a few crates as well. AWESOME!
Once that's done I exit and immediately get told my ride to Paragon City is ready and the pointer is directing me to a boat in the same zone. One hop, skip and superjump/fly/run away (and doorclick) and I'm in the top end of Steel facing more Longbow (side-note:great for the villain badge). Now to get the attention of some stupid hero by smahsing more stuff, this time taking the form of two statues. After destroying both statues with at least one of its guards completely oblivious I start to get ambushed. Two small fries followed by the big mac hero that I'm really after. After several brief rests between ambushes I tend to use up my inspirations taking out the hero and apparently steal their cape (once bugged it as the hero wasn't wearing one).
Now the difference between the two is startling. One is a simple talky-talky mish that takes you all over the city, the other has two instanced missions and a talky mish in one zone EVERYTIME as well as the contact's phone number in your pocket. Heroside it breaks the flow because of all the travelling while villainside keeps the flow going with as little travelling as possible. The comparison shows that while the planning behind missions had improved vastly, the lack of revamping old content is a bane on the new content that comes after. -
Quote:I'm 29 this year and I've been an EU veteran for 54 months now. Don't patronise me.Your new to the game aren't you? Well let me spread some lvl 63 wisdom on ya kid.
Quote:"Issue" is a term for a large content update but does not necessitate a major zone addition. Really their are 3 kinds of updates in this game: Hotfixes (this happen in normal patches), world shakers (adding cimerora or Ouroboros, or Architect) and large combined effects (like issue 16)
16 isn't an issue like adding the Midnighters was but its combined changes are more robust, significently more so than a hotfix so it gets the Issue moniker because when it launches you're looking at approximately 70+ megs of data as opposed to 5 with a hot fix.
I have long been a supporter of City, singing praises where others would shoot it down and that's more IRL. After the content-light issues 12 and 13 (and 14/15 for me personally) I was hoping that there would be some advancement on the current threads reaching out to be tied up or at the very least expanded on (Darren Wade's arc for example).
For me this is another 'miss'. Color customisation, while great to FINALLY have, is something I will use maybe once and then it'll be forgotten about, swept away by the lack of any canonical content. Then we have customisable difficulty which will let those wanting a new challenge to have one in peace followed by the new SSK system whose purpose seems to be stopping those awful bridgers from ruining the 46-50 range despite datamining proving that not many actually do it.
Had it come out last year I would have probably been rejoicing but after the debacle surrounding Issue 14 I am jaded and cynical at anything we get from now on. -
Quote:Actually it's more like using your nitro boost at the beginning rather than the end when you might actually need it (41-50 could do with a little extra too).As for the person that complained about the complaints about the increase in leveling speed...couldn't that be solved by adding more in game content to make level 1-20 fun? By increasing the level speed you only make it so that you avoid the content...it is the same thing as adding conveyer belts to the first part of the race!
Quote:With the devs adding MA I think I saw how easy it was to make an arc, make an NPC and wondered why it is so difficult to get more arcs instead of raising the level speed or adding AE so we can do missions.
No doubt the first response to that would be that GR will have tons of new content, blah, blah, blah. That's all well and good but what about the people who can't or don't want to pay a surcharge to play new content? The Magic Man arc was one of the most inventive arcs I've played in a while mostly because of the final boss fight but it also made creative use of the dialog pop-ups to tell a decent story without being as intense as 'the world is coming to an end and only you can save it'. -

Wouldn't you be breaking it by stating that you are tied to the CO NDA?
In the past most NDA's I've been part of stated that you do not disclose the fact that you are part of it! First rule of NDA is... etc..
[/ QUOTE ]
First rule of NDA is "You don't talk about fight club"...
Oops, I think I mixed things.
[/ QUOTE ]No, fight club was a terrible movie. We don't wanna talk about it
On topic; there are back options already and they do work. I was fortunate enough to have a US account when the transfer system was being tested. There was a few NPC back details in there (like the longbow jetpack and raptor pack) so there is stuff which latches on to the same costume 'hooks'.
I'm sure people would love to have these parts already available for use so they don't have to rely on the temp powers or re-purchase flight packs. If they don't want it to be too easy then they could add it to the list of costume recipes. -
[ QUOTE ]
Obviously, we haven't been working 100% on this since we started. A bit here, a bit there...time taken for other Issues, bug fixes, booster packs, etc. But we've been working on it pretty focused for the last 6-8 months.
[/ QUOTE ]Hmm, that explains a lot. -

Sayings like that just remind me of the Sphinx in Mystery Men. Very deep and meaningful, unless you actually think about it for a bit.

Mr Furious "...Your rage will become your master"

I wish! That was an annoying problem that could be addressed quickly though.

Again.. has the WW/BM gotten reduced prices from this?
No!
[/ QUOTE ]More to the point; it's raising the price of the common salvage too. 40-50 range comon salvage was going for 10 to 500 a piece if you were lucky (think I remember a score of Kinetic weapons going for the low-low price of 1 inf). Now they're moving into triple and quadruple digits
I was going to say mroe about the 'advanced' difficulty setting but I can't really put any pleasent words out to describe it. -

[/ QUOTE ]Really? Another 'removed' NPC? When is anyone going to get all these guys back? Why not simply remove the xp off all the offender NPCs so people won't feel a compelling need to create an entire map of them? And how long till we see high level Family, Maniacs and the next target of farmer abuse removed, never to be seen again?

I think they'll be back, but less generous with their XP
