    What is ED?

    [ QUOTE ]
You could have done that before. You chose not to. Nothing ED did changes that fact.

Had the game launched with ED, I don't think it would have been bad, but doing such a drastic nerf after the fact still rubs me the wrong way. I'd probably be less annoyed, but folks saying that they were "forced" to play a certain way is BS. IF they chose to play for effectiveness then good, I did too, but I wish people would stop acting like they were forced.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think anyone really feels that they were forced into playing a certain way before ED. However, ED did force them to rethink their slotting and, in most cases, they found better ways to slot their characters when the old standby's weren't viable anymore.

Thing is, there's really nothing to prosecute. RMT doesn't break any laws

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, you know, except for all those pesky copyright and trademark laws...

    [ QUOTE ]
As far as comparisons with RIAA, MPAA, etc, keep in mind that there are international agreements governing intellectual property. I don't know that there are any such agreements that are related to the issues involved in RMT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But the currency/items/characters being sold via RMT -are- intellectual property.
  3. Honestly, I think the biggest problem is the justice system lacks understanding when it comes to internet-related matters. There have been tons of bad rulings that illustrate this very well. A lot of powerful judges are simply ignorant when it comes to technology. Thus, I think most of the MMO companies would rather combat the problems on their own terms rather than risk a bad precedent being set in court allowing the RMTers free reign.

( Leech: How do you do the changing avatars? )

Or even a good Mos Eisly way.

To my understanding it is universally hated by older players

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not even remotely. A lot did hate it, many more are indifferent, and a good number actually are in favor of it.
  6. <QR>

....I can't believe this is a serious question....
  7. [ QUOTE ]
At this point I realized that. I'm just wondering what the reason is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because you already have it activated on your account and the system isn't set up to activate it again.

    10Gb? ... ouch.

I'll find the guide - essentially, copy the installer (COHUpdater.exe) to the desktop. Run it. When it asks for a location, change it to the new drive. Let it *start* (barely) the install, so it creates the folder... then move everything over.

    (At least as I recall.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't see that any of that is necessary....just cut/paste over.

    So frustrating

Difficulty level has no impact on EBs except to demote AVs to EBs. By your upper 40s, you should be able to solo EBs fine no matter what your AT, though...

( I think this is different for MA missions. EBs get lowered to Lt's? Bosses? )

The only exploiters that I have seen here in three years are RMT'ers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The you haven't been paying attention.

    <QR>

After reading this thread up to Phillygirl's response, I felt there was something that needed to be said...

If you feel a mission is exploitive, report it. If a GM feels the arc is exploitive they'll pull it. IF it isn't they won't. Pretty simple.

We as players cannot ban arcs. Only the GM's/devs can do that.

[/ QUOTE ] Problem is, I strongly suspect that not very much evaluation occurs. It seems that if a mish crosses a complaint threshold, it is auto-banned.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And what are you basing this on? Fabricated statistics again?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
However, I have yet to experience anything IN_GAME that would tell me whether I am doing something wrong or not when it comes to AE content and farming. Most players never touch the forums, so I am wondering what the criteria is for farming/banning??

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, I'm sure many people will scream at me for this reply, but they can be safely ignored. Basically, you can't get anywhere near banning territory without knowing exactly what you're doing. You need to know the game system really well to effectively exploit it. Trust me, you can *NOT* do it by accident.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Basically. The bannable exploits are those that pretty much -scream- "exploit". Leveling to 50 in only a few hours, for example... You'll -know- when you're exploiting, even if you do stumble on it by accident.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
The plural of "anecdote" is not "data".

Are you seriously suggesting that story driven MA content comes anywhere close to the number of mish's built for farming? Do you turn off broadcast when you step into AP?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry, last I checked "no one" did not equal "nowhere near as many". Keep backpedaling there, Sparky.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
On the face of things, this is patently absurd. MA is used for nothing BUT farming. No one cares about your fan fic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And there went any credibility you may have had....
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I don't really get how "You are not to use the MA for farming" is anything but clear.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For one, the definition of farming is anything but clear.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While the line may be fuzzy, "meows" very clearly took a flying leap over it.

But, more specifically, your thread is akin to this:

The police tell everybody that it's illegal to steal cars, but there are no laws specifically against it, and the laws that do exist are very hazy on the difference between buying a car and stealing one. People have been protesting that that should be allowed to do what might be considered stealing a car, or might be buying one, they're not sure. The police ignore it and arrest people stealing cars. People who have been arrested are very vocal about their arrests for stealing cars. The police AGAIN tell people that it's illegal to steal cars. At teh same time, they leave ton's of ownerless, brand new cars in teh streets with teh doors unlocked, the keys in the ignition, and a sign that says "Free cars, come get some!" Then you stand outside the police station, with police officers around, and ask a passerby if they think it's okay to steal a Ford instead of a Nissan. Also, the police are elected every month, and if you don't like teh laws that they enforce, you can kick them out of office

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fixed it for you. Better analogies next time, plz.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Take your own advice. That analogy GROSSLY misrepresents what happened and you damn well know it.

I don't think NCSoft corporate will keep supporting this itteration of the Dev team if they keep loosing players at the current rate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And what would the current rate be, hmm? Do be sure to cite an official source for your numbers. Anecdotal observations don't count.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
When will the witch hunting end? Soon any mission that has an outdoor map will be called a farm/exploit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, yes. The ever "valid" slippery-slope argument.

They arent customized, they are standard mobs in standard proportions.

Same is true for Comm Officers...

Wow Tonaka I m typing on my iPod touch sry the keys are so damn small. You didn't need to spas out om me like that so calm down plaese. Maybe you just meed to be patient with people especially people that don't know much about the game AmD are trying to learn...give me a chance will ya?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but asking what the newest exploit is isn't "trying to learn the game". It's "trying to learn how to cheat".

*Facepalm* Seems it really is gonna take the wrath of the devs to get it through people's heads rather than just threats.

    [/ QUOTE ]

do you really expect anything less?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No all it takes is them making MA the way they want people to use it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And which people's way would that be?

You don't need numpad key support for masterminds. I've done fine without it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True. I do just fine without all the keybinds.

It's nice that he got disbarred, but he hasn't stopped. He's just not the one standing in front of the judge anymore. There are other lawyers out there that are more than happy to sue for something like this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He has lost a lot of clout for being disbarred. And the suing part isn't going to happen. Yet again, the statement has no legal weight, so there's nothing to sue over.

    [/ QUOTE ]
When has that ever stopped activists? They sue knowing that they will lose. They want the press to see that they are taking on the big bad company to protect children. Their goal is to cost a company so much money in legal fees (as well as public image) that it's just cheaper to start enforcing the rule.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...so the solution is to cave in to them? Right, whatever. That's why they do it, because they know bully tactics win...
