Why not Architect Edition serial codes twice?

So my sub is about to run out so I went and picked up Architect edition so I could get the Cyborg Booster(I did the same for Magic Booster couple months ago). But when I tried to apply the code I found out I can't add architect edition type code to my account again. Why is that a restriction?

You can never use a single box set code more than once.

[/ QUOTE ] This. You'll have to use a credit card or time/game card to extend your subscription. You can also use a different type of retail code to extend your sub another 30 days. Either way, you'll still have to pick up the other booster pack separately.

At this point I realized that. I'm just wondering what the reason is. I'll just give the box to my roommate or little brother(if he wants it). This isn't a big deal, I'm just curious.

Because that's how the system is set up - previously (other than the pre-order codes, and the CoV ones did it this way too) there never was any benefit to having the same code on there twice.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.

It'd be nice if it *did* work this way, especially when you can find various CoH & CoV editions at Big Lots for $10 or less...

Because you already have it activated on your account and the system isn't set up to activate it again.

I think it was originally set up that way back in the day when a game box was $50. The limitation of just being able to apply a game edition code just once protected you from buying box after box paying way too much for that free month instead of just buying the much cheaper time at $15 a month.

They made an exception to the rule for the *GAME* Card Edition, which is $20 and can be stacked and which allows you to renew the one-month Jet Pack as well as the free month time. (Or, you can pay $15 a month for the game and get the Jet Pack renewed each month for $5, which winds up being the same price of $20.)

All the other editions that give an in-game goodie do not give a goodie that expires, like the Jet Pack of the GAME Card. So, applying them month after month is making you pay $20 a month for the month's play-time and with no extra benefits. That would be a price gouge on NCSoft's part, and they're protecting you from that by not allowing the rest of the Editions to stack.

And, it's a safe guard against theft: The code from the GAME Card is activated at point of sale (the cash register). This ensure you paid for your month. If you steal a whole bunch of GAME Cards, you couldn't use them since they wouldn't be activated. If you steal a whole bunch of boxed editions (Architect or GvE) and they allowed edition-stacking, you'd be able to use them as free months on the same account. The limitation on stacking prevents that.
