Some people see any time spent on anything that's not their pet gripe about the game as a "waste of dev time"...

Quote:You had some warning. It's Tuesday.Well, at least, a surprise to me. No notice on the News and Announcements forum, website News page, or even the Facebook page.
Anyone have any info regarding the current downtime, and how long it might be down for? Was anyone else surprised, or did I just miss an announcement somewhere?
PS: NCSoft: if this isn't some completely unforeseen server melt, please give us a bit of warning! -
Quote:The devs have actually said this. And when you think about it what they have said makes sense. Pool powers aren't somehow magically different from the powers we currently can customize. What was done for those can and has already been done for the pools. The issue is the sheer number of power sets that would show up on the screen at once. The UI was just not designed with that in mind.
Personally I think they should simply have a horizontal slide bar at the top that lets you cycle through each pool power with the typical vertical list of each power. That way you only have one or two powersets on the screen at a time and the UI isn't cluttered.
Here's a dev quote for you:
A dev quote that doesn't say anything about that being the major holdup. It was being given as an example of how it was more than just art and FX time needed. What I'm taking issue with is the people saying that the only reason we don't have it yet is they haven't done the UI code. There's nothing to support that ASSumption. -
So, is there an actual dev statement telling us all this or are you just pulling stuff out of your rear? I'm just saying, I haven't seen dev comment on this myself and this sounds like all assumption. I really don't see how it'd be such a "hot mess" even if your explanation of how the UI handles power customization is right.

Quote:I'm sure there's a HELL of a lot more than just UI work to it. I don't even see how it could be mainly UI work. Seems to me the UI to customize power colors and such is already in place...It's true... but probably not for those reasons. I've been biting my tongue every time poor Tunnel Rat and co. get harassed about it, because their part has been done for a long time. Including epics. Powers team still has a little bit to do to connect everything, and of course the biggest part falls on the shoulders of the nonexistent UI programmer.

Quote:Yes, bravo. You've discovered the great and horrible secret. They're ignoring massive player demand intentionally to make vanity pets and that's why they don't have it out yet...The legacy pools have tintable FX already, and have since Issue 21. They just need to do the UI code, but they're spending the time making more dogs and brand new typos instead.
/sarcasm -
I don't see why there would be any difference. I think it's a problem in how the pool powers in general work and not with specific sets.

Forget causality. Time is a big ball of timey-wimey wibbly-wobbly....stuff.

How on earth would a robot NOT be considered tech? It's pretty much the prime example of a tech character.

Has to do with the fact that I put a block on my memories of that movie. Thanks for undoing years of therapy. You monster.

Quote:Hell, if they're just gonna slap a mane on a Tiger and call it a Liger, may as well get totally nonsensical.Seems like the nonsensical addition of a scorpion tail is a bigger problem than the too-small scale, although I too would like to see properly sized big cats. Even without the scorpion tail the liger pet doesn't look like any liger I've ever seen, but I've only seen pics on the internet.

Problem for you, maybe. Given the uselessness of the buff pets that have been available on the market or via vet rewards so far, I much prefer the vanity pets. Hell, I'd love to have a vanity pet version of the vet buff pets.

Quote:What is this nonsense? You talk as if there's more than one dev working at Paragon!Sure you might not care about these vanity pets and that's fine. But don't let yourself be fooled into thinking that the -only- thing the entire Dev staff of Paragon Studios has been doing lately was working on these pets. You realize that one person can churn out vanity pets while other people can be fixing bugs and working REAL content at the -same- time right?
This is why I always laugh at people who suggest that the Devs should spend time fixing bugs for a few months BEFORE creating any other new content. The naivety of that notion is laughable for almost too many reasons to count. -
Quote:Huh. Neat. How've I not noticed that before...? That's handy just for the auto-accept Mystic Fortune. This one.

I...what? I'm obviously missing something here. Seagull?
