Yea, plus on a human only build you'll almost definitely want to pick up the Clarion destiny ability which I'm pretty sure offers slow protection. I have Dwarf on my build for set bonus mules, I slotted a Winter's Gift in Dwarf Step I think cause I had nothing else to put in there, so I figured what the heck.

Haha, I actually managed a very prestigious uncommon for the second run, but 2 commons to go with it. It went pretty well, especially considering we had a pretty unique league makeup.
  4. You'll wanna dedicate some slots to bolt/eye at the earlier levels especially because I doubt you have the recharge to run blast>well>blast>drain yet. You'll also want to slot E Drain primarily as an attack and maybe devote a slot or two to healing if you have them to spare... Stygian Circle tends to be enough of a heal on its' own. There's really not too much point in having/using Grav Snare but if you want it I suggest slotting it as an immobilize.

In terms of the end game, there are two primary things human form Warshades can do better than tri form Shades:

1.) Be more survivable than Nova or Dwarf. You can get your HP up to the high end of Scrapper HP and softcap your smashing/lethal defense with set bonuses.

2.) Do more single target damage than Nova or Dwarf. human form has access to the best single target attacks/chains, and a damage aura to boot.

I could actually add a 3.) better control potential, because they have the option to run Inky Aspect constantly.

The thing is that human form doesn't tend to shine until you throw enough money into it. Without a substantial amount of defense, the main source of which is 5 Kinetic Combat sets and Gladiator's Armor/Steadfast 3% Defense IO's, you won't be much more survivable than a Black Dwarf.

Without the superior enhancement values from purple sets in all of your attacks, and PVP/purple procs offering exotic damage and higher proc chances in your ST chain, your damage output won't be anywhere near what it could be, and you'll be scrounging for recharge without 5 10% global bonuses from purples. Remember, perma eclipse is always your primary goal.

You'll make lots of sacrifices in your build that will probably ultimately do more harm than good in order to reach most of these goals if you don't plan to invest a lot. The good news is that a tri form, MFing Warshade shines on any budget. Did you have any specific reasons for not wanting to use forms?

    Glad to help

MoLAM was successful- Thanks again to everyone who joined. Next Saturday (once again aiming for 8 pm Eastern) will be Master of Underground. It's probably the simplest trial to do as a Master run assuming everyone is familiar with the trial itself. I'll be updating the third post with a strategy within the next couple of days for people who aren't familiar with the badges.

Psst, Zaloopa... I have more prestige than you.

    hmm d3 cor/def.

I can give some personal input- I have a dark/dark defender in the mid/high 20's that has been a breeze to solo- He's up to +0x6 already when soloing and he not only plays in complete safety but clears at a decent pace also. I can't speak for the corruptor counterpart, but I can say that a d/d defender is a good choice for soloing.
  8. I guess there is some confusion about when the MoLAM was happening today for some reason, so let me quote the OP.

It actually probably gets even more fast-paced the more goodies you get. A very active AT for sure.
  12. You don't need to be so defensive dude, I feel like you're dead set on turning everything into a pissing contest. I'm not really sure what you're trying to prove at this point.
  13. I know this thread is now on its' sixth page, so based on the trend of this part of the COH board the discussion is probably now only slightly relevant to the actual topic... But I just wanted to say that Phoenix Jones is a total example of a standup guy. Whether he wears a mask, wants attention, or not.. He ultimately is known for doing things to help others. He takes the heat for it and keeps doing what he thinks is right afterwards. I say as opposed to most 'famous' people, this guy actually earned it.

I really hope that the creative team takes Kheldians into account when they're working on the Battalion story lines. It would be a shame for them to let such a long standing piece of lore go unmentioned... I'm assuming they will delve into it a bit more since Prometheus references Khelds in his last bit of dialogue.

I just noticed your post, sorry about that. It looks like *points to the last 2 posts in the thread* we'll be delayed a bit. I'll be good to go as soon as Kyo and Co. are ready, so maybe she can give you a time frame. Either way, I'll be coordinating in the Protector Vigilance channel when it's time to get things going.

yeah that's fine with me. Shoot me a tell or yell out in Vigilance whenever you guys are wrapping up with the Brits.

You didn't deserve a serious response. Sure a lot of the Kheldian lore is "iffy," but that hardly equates to everything about Kheldians being stupid and irrelevant like you seem to think. You said VEAT's fit more into the main storyline that Khelds do? Arachnos are the second fiddle, lol Villains compared to Praetorians, who are in turn gearing up to be the second class lol Villains to the Battalion.

That makes Arachnos... What, third class villains by association. They are pretty much the 'Skulls' of the end game. Also, the Battalion enslaved and used Kheldians as ship fuel. That's the new uber villain group on the block. While Arachnos are busy getting their artifacts back from the Circle of Thorns or whatever, a bunch of Kheldians with new found god-like abilities from the Well of the Furies are gonna be bringing the revenge-fueled-megahurt to the Battalion.

Talk about irrelevant story lore, Arachnos (See: The VEAT's you spoke of, aka Arachnos Epic Archetypes) are probably at the top of the list right now.

Just a guess, but I'm betting if there was a report generated on playtime by subscribers by AT, Kheldians would be at the bottom of the list.

At least the VEATS fit into the main storyline. So they did learn some of their lesson. But for me, Kheldians require a complete scrapping and do-over. As is, they just are a bunch of a gimmicks, strung together with a gimmicky storyline that shoves their adversaries into missions as annoyances rather than as meaningful parts of the mythos.

Well when it comes to using Lore pets it doesn't matter what Archetype you're playing, and that's where the general irrelevance comes into play. I'm not saying that your shade's damage didn't contribute, but you should keep in mind that the Warworks boss class can solo AV's on its' own- That's on top of the regen debuff that WW's have and the LT's damage output.

It's like "soloing" a GM on a team of 3, comprising of two teammates who are able to solo AV's on their own and having at least one of the teammates bringing debuffs to the table. When it comes to soloing tough enemies, tacking on "with lore pets" on the end sort of negates the whole concept.

In terms of human vs. Tri Form, what it really comes down to is nothing but math. I have another respec to do that will help out my attack chain a little more- I'm not posting the build on the forums, but the attack chain will comprise three attacks, hitting for (~) 142, 209, 142, 95 (repeat) DPA in a fluent attack chain- That's with, of course, purple/PVP procs and Reactive Radial Flawless and Orbiting Death adding 38 DPS/-res from FOTG, pluss buffs from Sunless Mire and red inspirations to reach the damage cap; (not accounted for w/ these numbers) No need for purples with softcapped defense and no need for blues with the recovery I've allocated.

I'm not sure what your ST attack chain in Dwarf is but the three attacks available are doing, compared to the human form chain, 113 vs. 142, 128 vs. 209, and 80 vs. 95 without a damage aura ticking and not counting the long animations that would potentially be needed to shift down to human for stygian circle to heal (no defense) and recover endurance.

I've been spearheading this for *gulps* 5 or is it 6 years now (I want to say this is the 6th year) ? I honestly don't remember, but it's been a few years now and every year there's on average at least 20 participants. It's a lot of fun, and an excellent way to spread holiday cheer to your fellow Protectorites.

I'm getting the feeling that this will be a go again this year, so I'll probably be putting up the info post in the near future.

Ahh, have you considered taking a 'Secret Santa' approach instead? I could think of a few Protector Pals I'd be able to send specific cards/etc. to but I feel like this system would lead to a sort of generic/empty approach, at least on my end, if it involved sending out a bunch of things to people I'm not close with/haven't played with long enough to give anything really sincere or personalized to.
  23. This will be my first holiday season with Protector/COH as a whole... Well actually, I'll be getting my one-year badge right around this time so technically "second," but y'know. Anyone wanna elaborate?

I think anyone who shows off doing anything with Lore pets is under utilizing their character. Anyone can do anything with those things, especially when it comes to Warworks and Monsters.. They debuff regen.
