Quote:Best ST damage is actually in human form. OD with either well>eye>blast>eye or well>blast>drain>blast are the best DPS available to Warshades. There's also another one that uses bolt instead of eye or drain but the recharge you need to run it isn't realistic for a well rounded build, according to me and Microcosm's last discussion about it.Personally I prefer to only take human attacks that do something other than just damage, like Gravity Well. My damage is in my Nova form.
edit: there might be some new wonky 'hybrid' chain after instant form shifts but I'm not going to be looking into anything like that until we get toggle suppression. -
Quote:The -res is nice but actually not something included in my current build- Since I switched my main Blaster over to a 32.5% m/r/a build I had to 6 slot Coercive's for the easy defense bonus- It's hard to fit in all that def and keep perma drain psyche and 50% s/l, 30% e res. That being said I'm still a big fan of WoC.WoC is a pretty bad power. It gets better with the confuse proc and THB seems to love it for the Gladiator's -Res proc, but I hated it when I had it in my DP/MM Blaster cause it was just so ghodawful useless to me. To give you an idea, Spring Attack provided more melee range mitigation from KD than I ever saw from WoC. Take that anecdote for what you will.
Mental plays best in melee at the high end, since you're going to want to be 'in the thick of it' anyways to properly leverage DP and Psychic Shockwave, both essential and quick recharging powers (on an optimal build.) WoC's contribution with a contagious confusion proc and t4 Cognitive Interface actually adds a considerable amount of mitigation even on 54x8 settings. Don't expect to confuse bosses, but it's not uncommon to see every LT and minion confused long enough in a standard spawn size to get RoA off. This does a lot for me on my Blaster to help out with the otherwise slightly painful cast time. -
Ohh right, I honestly didn't even think of that. You so clever, Joe. I'm sure they're going to give us the nuke change eventually though, hopefully at the same time as toggle suppression so I only have to respec my Warshade once. >.>

Alt build that would be viable currently (the one in the OP is what I'm currently running on Freedom)

I haven't seen anyone else talking about this for Scrappers, and it's kinda confusing. I know TW/FA is strongly recommended for Brutes these days, so that's good, but TW/FA/Soul on a Scrapper is ridiculously OP, especially with Hybrid Melee's taunt aura.
Fiery Aura is meant to sacrifice general durability for damage, but with TW, a high end build and Shadow Meld, the best of so many worlds can be had. Titan Weapons does a TON of single target damage, possibly (?) competing with the best numbers, and probably the best AOE Scrappers have access to.
TW/FA/Soul can have 32.5% defense to all positions (utilizing DS,) and 50% uptime on Shadow Meld to be at or around the Incarnate softcap to every position roughly half the time.
TW/FA/Soul, on the same build, can pump out high end AOE and ST damage. And by high end, I mean just.. Ridiculous. I'll provide my build as a reference point, but I'm telling you guys. This combination is insane on a Scrapper.
I see people investing purples into Willpower builds and the like on a regular basis, and that just seems like a waste of money to me. Fiery Aura, if built and paired in an optimal way, can be as survivable (for all realistic purposes) as any other set, and so all that's left to discuss is which does more damage. The answer? FA every time.
I've considered building this guy for more recharge instead of AOE defense, and I'm definitely going to respec him when the snipe changes go live, but this is what I've been running on him, and it feels great. I wish I had more time to play the build, but I wanted to take this opportunity to present anyone else who has the funds with the idea.
Accolades and Incarnates on.

Quote:What server do you play on? Maybe they haven't found out about Fire Blast yet!I felt a bit unoriginal running on a team in Night Ward the other day. On a team of 6 Blasters, 1 Corruptor and 1 Tanker, there were 3 other Proton Volleys going off beside my own!
what's up with that?!
Fire Blast: The new Blaster set of THB. As soon as i24 comes out. -
Quote:PVP, pretty sure you don't want to play anything melee. Strongest AOE melee sets would be Super Strength and Titan Weapons paired with Fiery Aura.I've taken about a three year break from this game, and Energy Melee doesnt seem as strong as it used to be. So I come to with this question: which powerset is strongest in your opinion for pvp and which set is strongest for soloing mobs? I know it's the player that matters, but I want to know what the new meta is.

I've been thinking for a long time that I should make my Peacebringer a tricked out PVP build, but then I'd have to move him back to Freedom and I wouldn't be able to join in on Kheldian Fridays anymore.
-
Quote:The muling opportunities would be more than considerable, even cheaper stuff like KB IO's and Kinetic Combat sets. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't complain if it happened. I just feel a responsibility to point out things that I would exploit the hell out of on my personal builds before they happen, so I won't have any guilt about it once I've made my intentions public.Moreso than Warshades are now? I've thought about the slot cost problem myself for a year or six, and I think its an acceptable performance shift for the general case. I'm not unconcerned about the min/max case, but I'm far less concerned than I am about the general case.

Quote:This is the kind of PR the campaign needs. Viva La Abe!Sigh... Okay, False alarm. Nothing to see here.
Thanks for the link. It was very presidential of you.
Seriously though, until we get toggle suppression, our crashing nukes are perfectly usable on tri form builds. I think Khelds are the only AT who can make builds that use crashing nukes with no consequence to speak of. -
-
Quote:This would just lead to OP tri form builds once we get toggle suppression. All you need to slot in Black Dwarf is Mire since human is a better tank (and does more ST damage,) and all you need to slot in Dark Nova is the AOE's. I'm totally against giving forms extra slots ever since I've started thinking about how OP tri form shades would be once we have toggle suppression and after our instant shifts.Or they could figure out how to grant enhancement slots that only work in forms powers so that slotting one form doesn't create a huge opportunity cost by depleting slots for other forms, and conversely they don't just give human-only kheldians a blizzard of slots.

Cutting you off here because you seemed to derp your way through the rest of your post. This idea has been heard and embraced, loud and clear, by more than just players. lrn2google.
Now that I've attentively read the rest of your post I see that you did not in fact derp your way through it (completely.) Point still stands since some people evidently still need to follow my instructions though. -

Quote:The biggest problem I have with my Peacebringer is the very limited potential. I enjoy playing him and do so regularly, but I don't use purples in his build anymore for the simple fact that high end Peacebringer performance is not very different from mid-budget performance. On my mains I invest a considerable amount and their performance is the payoff, but Peacebringers seem to be locked into mediocrity.Dechs' and I hashed this out a bit in-game last night and both agreed that, from a numbers stand point, how do we prove that they under perform? PB's specifically, what do we con
pare them against? Currently their melee is equivalent to non-fury brute damage, and their ranged is equivalent to defenders; but their survivability is comparable to a tank. At what point does ranged ability outweigh damage against their level of survival?
We ultimately need to know how kheldians fit into the AT-verse and determine if they flat-out need a buff to damage, or would we have to sacrifice defense to balance. The scales? -
Quote:But what can Peacebringers really *do* with all that survivability? Peacebringers aren't tanks, they're meant to be 'jack of all trades' AT's, and other AT's can already do everything that Peacebringers can do, except better. My high end Fiery Aura Scrapper has been built in a way that, even though I doubt his numbers could match a PB's in a survivability analysis, is in game capable of withstanding the same difficulty settings as a high end Peacebringer, while doing substantially more damage. Now, if LA was a tank set, that'd be one thing, but Peacebringers are supposed to at least be equal parts Blaster as Tank without even considering the jumbled and often redundant role of human form. Sure, a case can be made for Tank level durability, but Nova form and Human form don't do anywhere near Blaster level damage- In fact, in a lot of cases, they struggle to compete with even Defenders.Dude, as much as I love what you're trying to do: Welcome to the internet.
Seriously though, before we can even think about 'fixing' kheldians we need to define what the problem is and prove it exists. Smiling Joe did a ton of math comparing warshades to PBs a while ago, and it's helped bring PBs up to par with WS, but now we're talking about putting them on par with everybody.
The thing is, I'm not convinced PBs are not on par. Sure, our damage is kind of low, but our survivability is ridiculously high. How do we prove that our damage is too low for the amount of survivability we can obtain?
I can't answer that. -
Quote:I'll be content with Mental being nerfed as long as SS is nerfed at the same time. This, From the man who has made himself the posterchild for nerfing drain psyche. I don't know if you are serious or not, in case you are I doubt you could have done more to make the devs want to nerf the power.
By the way, thanks for the indirect compliment -
Quote:Arbiter Hawk thinks toggle suppression is a reasonable request, the only problem he had last time I talked to him about it was figuring out how to get the animations to stop playing for toggles and to have the end cost for them not be paid while they're suppressed. They're a bonus set that we're supposed to be excited to have unlocked and enjoy playing. I'm sure the reason no one's seen toggle suppression for form switching is due to a code-issue somewhere in the transformation setup. It is super old code at this point. But an animation tweak is something that can happen now. The VEATS have several levels of "Epic" to them outside of storylines, I think it's time Khelds could say the same.
However, given some leaked info before the last issue's beta that we can't talk about here, we have reason to believe that they have added incentive to work on this tech. -
Quote:There are options for this. I farm on my Blaster regularly. The first suggestion I have for you is to go Mu Mastery- E-Fences can be stacked up pretty expertly. The bosses and some of the LT's will resist it or not be hit, but it's generally enough to keep things still long enough to kill them after a nuke drop. The second suggestion I have for you is to use patrol cave farms. Stick with the biggest clusters of enemies only, and when they start to scatter, move to the next clump. Reset the mission when your reward rates noticeably begin to decrease. The third suggestion is right branch Melee Hybrid, which gives you a taunt aura 50% of the time. The main problem I've run into when using a blaster to farm is how much everything runs away. Even using a secondary with a damage aura, apparently it's not the same thing as a real aggro aura. It's a shame since blasters can kill stuff so fast, but nothing stays bunched up to effectively do it.
While yes, it can be done, I find it to be more trouble than it's worth. -
Quote:What do you take me for, some sort of sentimental type, unable to progress with the times? If this were 1750 and I championed a very specific type of horse/buggy mechanism, would you expect that I would still contend that it is the very best mode of transportation after the automobile was released?Wait a second, RIP?
The powerset which, you contend, is the best set for the best AT in the game, is getting buffed, just not buffed as much as another set, and this is RIP territory?
O...kay, then.
I am a realist, Mr./Mrs./Ms. Hopeling. I respect strength, and my praises for my powerset friends are earned through their exceptional performance. I am not some sort of socialist hippie who believes that everything should unconditionally be treated equally and held in the highest regard whether they earn it or not.
If you are not the very best at a certain field, my powerset friends, it stands to reason that something else is better than you. Archery was formerly the best possible AOE damage that a Blaster could have, which made its weakness in the single target area excusable. Now though, Mr. Fire Blast has surpassed Archery at even that (due to what I feel is newly earned respect, I would like everyone in this thread to start referring to it as 'Mr. Fire Blast,' if you don't mind.)
If Drain Psyche is altered in any way, I'll have you know that I will be performing '#Occupy Praetoria' protests every day in Nova Praetoria until Arbiter Hawk returns to sanity. You're welcome to join me. -
But come on, tell me 'Ode to Archery' doesn't just roll right off the tongue.
This is a fascinating, almost overwhelming breakthrough to me. I'm a little overwhelmed right now, so please forgive my poor small brain's incapacity to process and accept this outright. Do you have any supporting evidence to support this statement? If you could pair it with illustrations, that'd be really great too, because sometimes I don't read so good (and don't even get me started on my reading comprehension.)
