Also, we don't know how much Time Manipulation will cost- I would wager 5 to 10 dollars- And we get that for free, too. Basically we will be getting ~$30.00 worth of content (or more!) for $15.00 per month.

Oh, I love my Warshade- He's my shiniest, favoritest character. I was just saying I've heard they're still good on SO's at 50... But I've never tried using SO's at 50, so I wouldn't know.

Tell your boss you'll be busy saving the world that day... Just explain the situation- Marauder NEEDS to be defeated. I'm sure he'll understand.

  4. First I'll say that I've spent the better part of my 6+ months being a part of COH trying to familiarize myself with mechanics, powersets, and all that kind of stuff and haven't spent much time trying to think up creative characters. Usually my system consists of "decide which sets you want to play, and then come up with a costume you won't mind looking at for the next 50 levels or less."

But onto the point of this thread- I decided to try something different with Shadowstrife, my Magic origin level 18 Dark/DP Defender.

As all of Primal Earth's focus is drawn towards Praetoria, the Council continue their advancements in securing a multidimensional Nictus takeover. The Void Hunters become progressively overwhelmed with recent Kheldian masses forming, calling for radical action.

Unheard of measures in Nictus bonding technology combined with magic obtained through the torture of Carnival of Light prisoners may have created the weapon the Council were looking for...

The man now known as Shadowstrife is the first being to successfully undergo a full Nictus bonding procedure. A former Council assassin fatally injured by the Warshade Septipheran, he had no choice but to surrender his identity to this drastic experiment. In order to test their new prototype, the Council has sent him into Praetoria as an advance scout.

He's almost ready to leave Praetoria, so I need to find out what to do to his story next- I plan on adding more to it as he progresses in his career of villainy. I'm pretty happy with the concept, but if anyone has any criticism, suggestions, et cetera I'd be glad to hear it, I am still new at this.

Also, as per the bio in case anyone was wondering Septipheran is the name of my Warshade who is also my main, but he has no real story of his own as of now.
  5. I wish forms were just made inherent, with 4 inherent slots in each form power.
  6. Here's something that's not quite clear to me... I know that premium players will get two default character slots if their subscription goes down (plus additional earned slots.) Can any of those character slots be used on eats/MM's/controllers that have already been created?

I am hoping this is the case, but they would still have to pay to make new ones if their vet status didn't unlock them automatically.

Unfortunately, though, I don't think we'll be seeing any new costume tokens until the launch of i21, where they will probably be sold for a (very hopefully) low amount of Paragon Points. And if you are strapped for cash, I suggest running Hero/Villain tips for 4 days, grabbing an LoTG: 7.5% recharge recipe and dump it in the market for probably close to 100mil.
Those were going for 175 last weekend 8)
  8. Does a War Mace/Energy Aura brute with "Strong and Pretty" automatically win that contest?
  9. I would be up for a Lambda, I just figured that BAF would get a better response since most people like it better.

Stone, I'm sure you will be fine. I've heard that level 50 Warshades are still really awesome on just SO's, but I've never tried it.
  10. As part of Protector Day of Vigilance on July 9th, I will be hosting a couple of all Kheldian events starting at 1:00 PM eastern time. There will be a total of 1 billion influence/infamy/information in prize money just for participating.

The first event will be a Twilight's Son task force starting at 1:00 PM eastern; The meeting place for this is Heroside Ouroboros. There are currently 3 spots available for this event.

The second event will start after the first is complete, and I would like to get enough participation for an all Kheldian BAF. I would not be opposed to going for badges either if everyone else was interested. There is plenty of room available for this and I think it could be a lot of fun, so please bring out your Protector Kheldians if you have them!

The sign up thread for both events can be found here. You can contact me in that thread, via PM, or in game @Septipheran if you are interested in participating.

I hope to see you all on Protector!
  11. As of right now, it looks like we will not have enough for a BAF. I'm sure a full team of 8 can be gotten together without too much difficulty for perhaps an LGTF or something of the sort- If anyone has Kheldian friends that might be interested in the events, please send them this way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I die during the warehouse all the time either... At first I did, something aweful. I've gotten used to doing it by now, but that doesn't mean everyone else has. There's just always an element of chaos in the league during Lambda, it's much higher stress than BAF for the same or less rewards... Not to mention Keyes Island. It just doesn't make any sense to have to worry about all the craziness when you can get all the same stuff and have a smooth sailing good time on a more comfortable trial.

edit: As for the iXP issue, I always thought it took too long. I've just been buying it since I started doing trials... It's much faster that way.
  13. Sure thing. Neither build is perfect by any means- I tried to keep them both on the affordable side, and they were more to just give you an idea of what can/should go where, and what powers you really don't need to use, or worry about slotting.

Tri-formers are definitely forced to take some unneeded powers, but there are ways to make them useful that I tried to include in both builds- Like using the default slots in shields you'll never toggle on for global IO's, and if you don't want to/can't invest in purple damage sets, using grav. snare as a 10% recharge mule. Again, not perfect, but it can be effective.

I am also a big fan of working vengeance into tri form builds. I haven't really see anyone else on the board talk about this, but you're pretty much always going to need all 5 LOTG global recharge IO's for perma eclipse, and vengeance is the only mule you will get any real use out of. I've heard of people using grant invisibility on fluffies, but personally I have way too much going on when I play my shade as it is to worry about that... Pretty much full speed ahead is the pace I always play him at.
  14. Basically the way they have the story going right now, and what the lieutenants are able to do... They have to make us more powerful than them. I feel this is going to end with either "the well has to be destroyed because of <insert thematic story reason here>" to prevent us from using any of our crazy power to god mode normal content... But that would be quite the cop out...

Or something like, our last abilities are like our latest level shifts, and only available during incarnate content- Which is sort of "meh" to me. I like to take my groceries with me after I buy them at the store, not have to go back and eat them there any time I want... Yknow?
  15. I was thinking about the idea that these guys we're fighting now are Tyrant's lieutenants, who he's shared some of his incarnate power with. Now, I know it's our job to convince the well that we deserve the power more than Tyrant does, so does that mean that when we have all of our slots, we'll be able to just god mode everything?

I mean, sure if a bunch of us team up we can obviously kill Tyrant, but I'm sure if 30 rats attacked a tiger, and had special rat discussion boards that helped them plan out how to pluck the tiger's eyes out, they would win the fight... But that doesn't mean rats are stronger than tigers. If the Well is truly going to favor the most powerful beings, it would mean that every incarnate, individually, would have to become more powerful than Tyrant.

And oh man, will that be something... If the stuff we're seeing incarnates do in trials now is crazy, I can't wait to see what we can do. I'm stoked for my god mode gun that ignores defense and resistance completely. I can't wait to one shot level 54 tanks with the most expensive builds money can buy, and what will that be? One of the minor blasts I happen to have, that I share with my lieutenants?

(Be sure to read most of this with a hint of sarcasm- This is the first time I've really thought about it, and I'm not exactly sure I see where this is going...)
  16. I personally like BAF much more than Lambda or Keyes because it's easy to stay organized- I don't really like Lambda because of Sabatoge. The whole idea of scraps, brutes, and tanks who know exactly what they're doing blowing up crates and then running off to the next one while the Empathy defender who doesn't have the trial memorized is dying every 3 feet... Just doesn't appeal to me. Not to mention Marauder tromping around all over the place.

For Keyes, the whole trial is just total chaos- You can't even run back from the hospital before you're dead again. I've even gotten stunned by the massive invisible god mode weapon (or is it weapons? I still don't care enough to figure out much about it) as soon as I came out the hospital door.

BAF is a good trial because it requires teamwork, following instructions, and overall coordination... Without the hectic, people randomly dying when they didn't do anything wrong aspect that the other two both have.
  17. Oh boy, I'm not sure how that happened... I didn't save either of those builds. Let me see if I can remember what I did and post them again.

Edit: Ok, I lied. I didn't feel like trying to figure out what you did, so here's a new build focused on recharge and s/l defense. One thing that might look weird about it is that I replaced gravimetric snare and ebon eye with the gravity and penumberal shields. This isn't because you should be using them because you probably shouldn't- It's because you wouldn't be using grav snare and ebon eye either, so rather than totally wasting the power choice you're forced into you can at least slot KB protection and psionic/status resistance IO's into the default slots.

This next build doesn't focus on s/l defense, but keeps more of the procs you had in your attacks and builds up more recharge. It didn't need the steadfast +3% defense IO so I swapped gravity shield back for grav. snare and used it for the cheap purple immob set.

  18. edit: I figured out the answer to my own question. ><
  19. Okay, I got to 13/14 through the Hero's Hero flashback arc... I had just finished killing Diabolique and Inferno on that annoying demon map with the teleporters... And it was a clear all mission. Now, 9 times out of 10 when I get that map for anything I stop playing for the day- That's how much I HATE it.

Long story short, I didn't have the will to clear all. I quit the map and quit the Flashback TF. Then, I went to Null the Gull to find out who I was missing for the badge... Turns out all I need is Dominatrix. Lucky me, I don't think there is a mission in Flashback that will just let me fight her and be done with it. Am I going to have to play through that whole freaking arc again just to kill this one AV for a badge?

and yes, all the AVs in the trials should be counting towards the badge

Ahh cool, that would be very convenient, but I started the Hero's Hero arc through Flashback in order to mop up all the AV's, so the gull is telling me "it looks like I have a more important task to attend to." How annoying. >=(

Maybe you already do this, but I would not run Tactics, Stealth, or WoC against a single target like an EB. The return for End used is too low.

Otherwise I think it looks good!

Hey thanks, I do not use world of confusion against single targets. The last build I posted uses the 2 slots in health for miracle and numina global enhancements, and will be relying on the 45% healing from tier 4 spiritual alpha to enhance health- I figure I should have that by the time I can afford that build anyways. That build also works out stealth to take the fighting pool instead, and has a cytoskeleton HO in tactics.
  22. I'm working on Portal Jockey, and I've already defeated 5/14 Praetorian AV's- Is there any way to check which ones I still need? Also, does defeating Marauder, Nightstar, Siege, and Antimatter during incarnate trials count towards this badge?

You farmed to 50 after awhile, so I would think you might have missed them.

I will be finishing up the Atlas Medallion tonight, and I think I have almost all of the Praetorian AV defeats for Portal Jockey. Not sure if defeating Marauder, Nightstar, Antimatter and Seige in incarnate trials counts or not.

Myself, I'd have tried for a Heart Of Darkness riff...
Why did Franz Kafka cross the road? He was making a futile attempt to flee the horrors of existence.
