Quote:You should have waited a few more days so the thread could have been a year dead when you raised it...
Hahaha, oh well... I figured I could either start a new thread about an ancient show, or post in an ancient thread about an ancient show. Either way, it was a necro.
I dunno, I feel like if it got one more season it could have redeemed itself. -
I love my /mental blaster, one of my most played and enjoyable characters. I didn't pair it with psi though, he's fire blast.
-
Quote:Yeah, that's why it was a pretty huge accomplishment for me... For all intents and purposes, there could have been a random hold that popped off at any time that would have completely ruined that run for me and sent me packin'....lol
"Alien"
Oh I bet, especially since you don't have Dwarf as a panic button, AND you have dropping toggles to take into account. Nicely done to be sure- Have you picked up clarion on your Shade yet? -
Quote:Here's my human-only WS going against two +2x8 Malta mobs at once
Took frikkin' forever, but this was well before all the incarnate stuff happened, as you can tell by the video upload date.
Malta are my human-only's arch-nemesis, as they tended to take down all 10 of my toggles every 5 seconds it seemed, and I had no protection from holds or stuns... So, I was pretty proud of being able to even walk away from that battle knowing I'd downed both mobs.
"Alien"
I rely on clarion and my target sapper bind>gravity well. I also make sure to bring a handfull of blues in case it goes south at any point
Doing it without Clarion is pretty insane. -
Quote:This was indeed the case. And thanks to the helpful posts of those in this thread, I am now floating around Paragon as a tentacled squid - learning why not to engage people with Quantum Arrays (answer: oh god the pain).
Congrats on your Kheldian. If you chose a Warshade I strongly recommend you learn how to be MFing from level 1 all the way to 50. -
As the main naysayer in the conversation that inspired you to do this, I want to say I'm both impressed and surprised. Very nice work.

Quote:Do you have something like FRAPS to record as the demo file plays back?
I tried using FRAPS once. I hit the record bind while doing something that I wished to record in game, but it decided that it would not save a video file of any sort to the folder I set up for it (or anywhere else for that matter.) -
Quote:Then that's at least an extra 22%(ish), I think you should be fine.
EDIT: Tossed together a quick thing in Mids that has 185% global recharge (Hasten on), 2 level 50 IOs in Hasten, Spiritual Radial Alpha. Hasten has a downtime of 112 seconds under these conditions, which is in fact Perma. The third IO is only giving you an extra 2 seconds by this point.
Thanks for your help. One day I'm going to figure out how to make Mids do math for me, and take incarnate stuff into account. (I only see an option to turn "Incarnate on" in mine, but no section that lets me pick individual Incarnate powers.)

Quote:That's what I was thinking. I don't think it would be fair to force warshades into only the t4 teleport and PB's into the t4 fly when everyone else would be free to choose both if they wanted. Will the inability for Kheldians to access to Fly and Teleport pools be addressed? Or, at the very least, will Peacebringers get an equivalent to Afterburner (for example, choosing that locks out Group Energy Flight) and Warshades an equivalent to Zone Teleport (maybe locking out Nebulous Form)?
edit: But treating Kheldians fairly doesn't seem to be much of a priority. Information has been released about brand new powersets, amongst other things, and still Khelds continue to be neglected despite how vocal the community is about changes that the AT's need. I would not at all be surprised if the trend continued with these new t4 travel powers. -
Quote:Taking away City Traveller where you can pick your travel power at level 6. Don't care personally, but that seems to be the only reward taken away from vet rewards if most pool powers open up at level 4. Don't need to get a useless attack power like kick or boxing to get Tough and Weave.
It seems like paragon rewards is giving more than vet rewards every gave and more frequently.
Is this going to be a change for everyone or will we have to spend our paragon merit things in order to skip boxing to take weave, and all that? -

Just working on some tweaks for a build and wondering, how much global recharge is needed to keep Hasten Perma with two slots? The build in question has 186% global recharge with hasten toggled on. If I can pull the third slot from it and keep it perma (it is using 3 generic level 50 recharge IOs by the way) I could free up an extra slot to put elsewhere.. Which would be great.
-
Tomorrow I will try to wrap my head around 'demorecord' ie: turning the files into actual videos.. At which point I will post my tri-form Warshade soloing +4x8 Malta. Nothing groundbreaking, but still a feat I'm proud of. Consider this post a placeholder.

Quote:Sorry about that Microcosm, I have been pretty preoccupied today. Here is AIB's build.I remember having an argument a few years ago with Turbo_Ski, among others, on whether a warshade could solo an AV at all (or even an EB, but we could prove that was possible at the time). Wish I had those pics then
Btw, THB never posted your build, would you mind sharing? I don't recall seeing gravity well in your tray, which has got me all curious now..
Edit: That, I am pretty positive, would be impossible for an empath, insps or no :P

Thanks Archiviste, much appreciated. I spent most of the day with another old friend sharing memories. This is the first person I was ever close with to pass so it's been a little rough.
Once again I apologize if anyone planned around participating in this event- I'll be up for hosting it tomorrow at the same time if interest is still there. -
Quote:Okay, then this is just a misunderstanding. I thought you were saying something that you weren't and for that I apologize.I never said I soloed it, in my original post I said "here's proof that I can dish out enough damage without pets". If I was able to solo a level 51 AV with no pets and luck, I would undoubtedly start a thread about it and even bother to record it.
Again, it was just proof that my DPS without pets is sufficient to beat an AV's regen, not that I can solo AV's without pets, I never claimed so. If you want to arrange for a meat-shield I could do it again.
Quote:I don't know Auroxis and can't be sure he did what he claimed, but the numbers don't lie and it is possible for an emp/rad to solo a level 51 Chimera without temps/insps/pets. I see no reason to doubt what he says.
On the other hand, dishonest people tend to be the first to doubt others. If soloing AVs on a warshade wasn't trivial nowadays, I'd think your attitude in this topic would suggest your friend might not have done what you claim he did.
Regardless, I'd be careful with randomly throwing cheating accusations around, especially if you're looking for credit for what is essentially the same thing.
I was going to leave my response at just "lol?" because it seemed most fitting, but since when is soloing AV's on a Warshade trivial!?! -
I have to apologize, I'll need to push this back to Sunday as a friend of mine from high school passed in a car accident last night- I will be busy doing irl stuff for most of the day.
I'm editing the OP with the new date, sorry to anyone who won't be able to make it because of the change. -
Being 100% honest, if a new and appealing set comes out that I have to pay for (neither of these appeal to me- Single target sets are obsolete and dual blades are inefficient to me anyways) I will more than likely buy them... But I'll do it grudgingly, and shake my fist at the screen while I type in my credit card number.
-
Quote:I got lucky, I admitted it. What more do you want?
Are you suggesting I photo-shopped it or something? All I did was prove that I have the DPS to take down an AV, if you want I can do it again if I get a meat shield, but I really see no point to it.
No, I'm saying that you probably either had a friend help you or you used your lore pets and dismissed them before you took the screen shot.
If you just happened to get lucky, you wouldn't be posting the screenshot here as proof of your ability to solo an AV on an Emp defender (which doesn't even belong here in the first place.)
You'd be starting a new thread in the defender forums, saying "Hey I soloed an AV on my Empath! Without Lore pets, inspirations, or any outside help!"
At which point a bunch of people would probably say "lol k."
Just like I'm saying right now.
Some people like AIB might give you the benefit of the doubt-- But I wouldn't expect too many others to be as generous as he is and offer to PAY YOU to do it again...
Bottom line- It's very convenient that you encountered some "lucky glitch" that allowed your emp defender to solo an AV without insps, pets, or temps at the exact time that this conversation created an optimal point-proving opportunity for you to do so. It is much more likely that you are not being truthful.
Once again: I would love to be wrong about this. If I am, prove it, and I will have no problem apologizing to you publicly. -
Quote:"Glitching" is such a funny thing... It seems sort of odd to me that you were able to do it pretty quickly (as you provided screens within a day of it being brought up) and yet when you're asked to do it again you bring up the "glitch" and basically step around the challenge. Sort of discrediting. As for your offer, I would gladly take it but it took quite a while for me to get it down and I'm not sure I can reach the same situation of out-ranging/glitching him.
ESPECIALLY without red inspirations. I really just don't think it's possible for an Emp defender to do what you claim to be able to do without outside help from A.) Lore pets (which I have a creeping suspicion that you used for this) B.) Liberal inspiration usage or C.) Having one of your scrapper friends help you and quit before you took your screenshot.
I would like to think that I'm 110% wrong, and for you to make me eat my words. Unfortunately that point can't be reached without you full-on proving it, which works out nicely since as far as I'm aware AIB's offer still stands. You even stand to make a profit off of it. -
First off, this is the ULTIMATE thread Necro.
That being said-- I just finished watching this show on Netflix, and wow, I want to pass it a wakie so badly...
Such a complex and interesting concept- I feel it deserved more time to finish itself off. I feel like they felt they forced themselves into turning Sylar good in order to prevent him from God-Moding the show, but that could have been easily balanced if they didn't gimp Peter so badly.
I really feel like this show was great, and that it ended in a horrible way. "To be continued..." Should never be the last thing you see in a series that will never have any resolution... -
Quote:Going Rogue only cost you 10 dollars because you waited until it was cheap.
These power sets cost 800 points. That's two months. If you save your points for two months, you're not paying any extra to get them. They are, in effect, free.
Are you complaining that you're not getting enough free stuff because they expect you to spend those 400 points a month on new power sets?
I'm not complaining about not getting enough free stuff-- I just dislike that the free points were being equated to "half a pack," so I could pick up things that are useful to me like ninja run, respecs, and server transfers without forfeiting anything (in game experience or irl money.)
VIP was originally coming across like "everything new will be free for subcribers, the points are an extra bonus for those things you missed." Now it seems that is not the case. -
Quote:I'll remind you that Kinetic Melee, Dual Pistols, and Demon Summoning were not free. You did not get access to them if you did not purchase Going Rogue.
As a VIP member, there will be some free power sets, like Time Manipulation, but there will be some power sets that you will have to buy.
I guess that's true.. But I paid like ten dollars for going rogue, and I also got 1.) A whole new DIMENSION 2.) An entire end game system and 3.) Oh wait! There are some powersets too..? Cool.
And according to an earlier post these new sets cost $10.
If they include a level 1-20 alternate dimension, an alternative to the incarnate end game, and both new powersets.. Well then I guess that's fair. But that doesn't seem to be the case does it? -
Quote:Titan Weapons was mentioned as being something for after i21 right from the get go. Beam Rifle and Street Justice are premium sets, so they have to be bought via $10, or 800 points. VIPs get 400 per month so if you are a VIP when i21/Freedom launches, you will be able to unlock it.
This is something that confuses, and rubs me the wrong way....
I will be staying "VIP." I'm wondering if my "free points" will actually be an added luxury for things like packs, respecs, etc. or if I will have to spend them unlocking new stuff like powersets or costumes that under the current model I would be getting in free updates anyways.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Kheldians and VEATS came out, did paying subscribers have to pay extra to play them? What about any other new powersets?
Now, I have no problem keeping my subscription going... It just seems like the "free" model is going to strongarm me into spending more money than I currently am.
