  1. It's more so several mandatory costs, like a busted car window, eating my available funds. I do intend to pick up 10.6 in the future, however.

But, in the meantime, CoX hasn't dropped 10.5 support yet. Plus, not sure if 10.6 would fix this horrid Praetorian lighting.
  2. These days, I'm finding myself dropping anything that sells for less than 1 mil onto the market for 1 inf. With things as they are, I put up about 19 inf worth of goods and can easily have several hundred thousand inf back in a couple of minutes or less. And that's without putting up anything of real value.

People are definitely overspending. In the last week I noticed I have around 1 bil inf across my account (not all on the same toon, though all of 'em, even the lowbies, have several million) and I don't even know where it all came from. No farming or anything, just walk up, drop goods, carefully price anything of value (craft if need be), and then walk away and go do whatever it is I feel like at the moment. If I can get that much inf by lazily tossing almost everything on the market for 1 inf, I can imagine what happens when people try to make inf.
  3. Playing an Elec/Earth Dom. Only level 17, but it rocks (pun not intended). Earth's soft controls work well with Elec's lack of kb protection in the hold and immobilizes. It was a little rough at first, but Static Field was the game changer and now I can just laugh as Praetoria sends ambush after ambush and they just fall asleep in Static Field. Of course, SF isn't perma, but the recharge is low enough that I can knock everyone on their butt with Jolting Chain and Tremor and have it placed again before they can fight. Even if they could fight, they'd be too busy being sapped to do much.

Bosses, I don't even have to perma-hold to solo them with little damage to myself. I have enough knock down/up that I can just repeatedly smack them and they'll flip helplessly while getting sapped. Jolting Chain and holding them some of the time fills in the gaps.

Can't wait to stick SOs in this one.
  4. I'd also add putting in some sort of zone event lockout timer for the events themselves. A Praetorian arc gave me a hunt mission. Unfortunately, zombies immediately invaded the zone. Followed by banners the instant the zombies went away. Followed by more zombies the instant the banners went away. It was a little ridiculous...

    Rikti Invasion

Would anyone be interested in blowing up some drop ships during the invasion? I have the accolade on multiple characters, so I'm not worried about getting it. I don't have any specifically planned days yet (largely because I don't have a work schedule for that week yet), but I'll probably make multiple stabs at it over the course of the event.

I have a level 50 toon with Group Fly already, so you won't need to worry about that. And no, there's no reward for blowing up the drop ships, this'll just be a bragging rights deal. I just want to be able to say I've done it.
  7. Hate to triple post, but... nobody knows anything that can help?
  8. I feel it should also be mentioned that the Holy Trinity of MMOs, Tank/Healer/DPS, isn't necessarily in 95% of this game's content. Does it work? Yes, perfectly. But a team of well-played anythings works just as well. So don't worry if you wind up on a team with six Blasters and a Scrapper. As long as they know what they're doing, they should do fine.

I'll also go and throw in that you can make a pure-support toon without heals. An Earth/FF Controller will probably keep the team alive just fine, for example, and has no heals in the primary and secondary. Debuffing enemies into mush also works very well in this game. Though, except Cold and Trick Arrow, most sets with a debuff emphasis do have a heal (granted, most buff sets do too). But a Radiation Emission character, for example, can severely reduce the foe's ability to fight and take hits, making fights both quicker and safer at the same time.

I'd definitely take the pure support for a spin to give it a try. In fact, give it several tries with different AT/set combos if you wish. But, I recommend giving more "aggressive support" set-ups a look at some point too.
  9. This original post got me all excited. Than it mentioned the date. I wanted simultaneous invasions from both the Rikti and the zombies.
  10. Are "Halloween themed costumes" the classic costumes or character created costumes. And, if the latter, does it mean more typical Halloween style costumes or anything that someone could wear to a Halloween party?

Gale and Entangling Shot on Controllers. Beyond that? I got nothing.
  13. Are terms allowed to be in different tenses? Such as Neurons, Swiftly, or Slashed?

Neither of those run on a Mac. I'm on a MacBook running latest 10.5 with 2.4 gigahertz duo core processor, 4 gigs ram, and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. Outside the game usually only Adium and Google Notifier are running, though sometimes Safari, Text Edit, and iAntiVirus (not scanning) are going too. In game settings I'll grab later when I don't need to rush to class. If nobody replies, I'll edit them onto this post.
  15. Normally I prefer to keep my writings to original universes, but I think I could give in and write some fan fiction for a shot at 100 mil inf.

My only suggestion would be to regularly bump event topics. I completely missed the recent costume contest (didn't even know it existed) simply because the topic wasn't bumped until after it was over.
  16. $10? Hmmm, considering the lightness, I'll probably end up passing. There's still a Natural, Science, and Wedding pack I'd need to get first if I were to buy any boosters right now. Maybe some day way down the road after I have those three and it's better for me than whatever, if anything, comes out between now and then.
  17. I know it's possible to make a change somewhere that causes CoH to start up with the Going Rogue splash screen instead of the standard blue-side splash. How would I go about changing this on a Mac? Can it be done without popping open a console every time I load the game?

Well, the topic got moved. So, I'm not going to bother arguing about that, even if they did revert my edit to the topic title, intentionally or inadvertently.

Maybe, but it does help avoid unforeseen graphics glitches due to certain things not being turned on when they should and interacting with other settings in an unforeseen manner.
Ok, in my haste I miswrote that. Instead, have it read "Don't set Shader Quality to N/A." It already locks on High if you set Recommended and lower and then turn on an ultra mode feature.

Anyway, since this is in tech support now, does anyone have any idea of how to fix this ugly sight? This only happens when I set Shaders to Medium and only when the lights are close. At a distance or high/low Shaders, they work fine. I don't remember this happening when GR launched, so did some update bork it?

  19. Some of those capes and auras look pretty cool. However, I don't think I have any immediate use out of it. So, pass at the moment.

Now, if you were to start offering these boosters for $20 and throw in a month of free-time too (such as the Mission Architect Edition, Mac Edition, etc), I'd probably go and buy all the ones I don't have. Except for the Party Pack and possibly the Cyborg Pack.
  20. I posted here because this was a suggestion. Albeit a suggestion based on incorrect information provided via a support ticket, but a suggestion nonetheless. And it still is one, I just need to go and edit it based on what I just found out.

Basically, setting your graphics to Quality or higher will disable Shader Quality in advanced settings, no matter what you tweak. It will make it show up as N/A. Setting it to recommended or lower will enable you to change it to your heart's content. Turning on any ultra-mode feature other than Water will lock it to "High" and not allow you to change it. Ultra-mode water will let you change your Shader and even works on Medium shaders (staring at a laggy part of Imperial City actually shows a minor increase in FPS when using medium over low. Weird...), so not all ultra-mode features lock you in high shaders. As I can show here...

So, now my suggestion, which I will edit my original post to reflect, is allow Shader Quality to be changed when you set your graphics to Quality or Higher. Right now, by tweaking with advance settings, you can get the same graphics without losing access to shader options by setting to Recommended or lower and raising the advanced settings. That's rather.... unintuitive.
  21. Edit note: Based on the following posts, I've changed this suggestion. The original was based on what turned out to be inaccurate information from a support ticket.

So, after complaining about my FPS being tanked recently and not having access to shaders and suggestion they be brought back since NC customer support told me they were gone temporarily (and was wrong), I discovered the culprit. Basically, if you set your graphics to Quality or Ultra and then go into advanced settings, you'll see Shader Quality grayed out with a N/A instead of "low, medium, high". However, if you set it to Recommended or lower and then go to advance settings, Shaders will be available. Even if you then go and max out everything to Ultra, the shadow option will still display it's settings, though will lock into High if any ultra option is enabled outside of water, this is fine.

What's not fine is losing access to Shader Quality if you set to Quality or Ultra without having to disable advance settings, lowers your graphics to Recommended or lower, and then enable advance settings again. Shader Quality should never gray out. Ever. I'm sure I'm not the only one who played on slightly tweaked Very High settings prior to Ultra Mode and then found themselves wondering why Quality, which is supposed to equal old Very High settings, causes considerable lag now and why Shaders are gone.

I'd also recommend forcing the use of the "Apply Now" button when setting anything that locks Shaders into high and popping a dialogue (with option to disable said message) mentioning that making this changes will lock Shaders on High. I'm sure someone's not realized Shaders got turned up or that it's the fact they turned Ambient Occlusion to lowest got them stuck with a higher Shader value than they can handle.
  22. I can't make promise on availability, but I'd like to bring my badging BS/SR Scrapper. Though, if absolutely necessary, I can also bring a Rad/Sonic Defender or Grav/TA Controller.

    Isolate Farming?

Wait, there's still crowds in the Atlas AE on other servers? Our Atlas AE is always very empty, at least whenever I'm in the zone. Maybe they're hiding from me...
  24. I want to play as a War Walker.
  25. It's a bug when the character uses a different animation with the Nem Staff out? Notice in the second screenshot, she's holding the staff properly instead of doing the normal two-fisted "Air Superiority" animation for Enervating Field. Or, more subtle with Radiation Infection, she's holding the staff up rather than keeping her hand down by her side (which would make the staff clip horribly). There's actual animations for these and I've heard the Blackwand has some too (and maybe, by extension, the Lost Cure). Not sure if other temporary powers /w weapons do this too, but it wouldn't be hard to check some of them.

I'd try for some different, closer screenshots, but I haven't had the Nem Staff temp in over a year and I'm not due for the vet version for a very long time. The screenies date back to I13 or thereabouts.
