Gonna try real hard to be there tonight, but we still have some work fallout that I might need to moderate from home tonight. If I can't run, I'll hop on and tell you if I can.

It matters. If even ONE person on the team has the Level Shift Incarnate enhancement, it can cause a localized mapserve disconnect for instanced missions.

*puffs chest* Man, I'm gonna hate these WST runs... XD
Dr. Turg just got 1200 with the Accomplice badge. Speak up if you get it! -
-
Well, finishing the arc just crashed my PC with all the level up pings and the demons going nuts... grats to all on my team.
Final time was 1:01:05 I believe. I picked up team lead because a.) MB forgot to pay the rent at his base... and b.) in Ouro, he couldn't find the mish, so I picked up the lead slack tonight.
Well done to all who ran with us! Did anyone get a screenie of the final time? -
Heya Luna: I'm a maybe leaning towards no for tonight. I got woken up by the London office at 330am today and didn't fall back asleep, so if I run at 10pm, I may not even be able to make it to the login screen before I work on my keyboard-to-face exercises.
If I'm hyped up on Coke, I'll be there, but shaking Turg's magic 8-ball says "signs point to whoah" right now. Thanks as always for setting these up. -
Quote:Having said all that it has long been known that there are a few people out there who get the latest Vet award several days or even weeks earlier than the established anniversary dates. For some reason the Devs either can't fix these problem or won't fix them.Quote:Wow, how did I just know that Loth would be the first to chime in on this particular subject? Now all we need is Turg in here and we'll be all complete!Quote:If anything I almost appreciate that he loves to gloat about getting them too early here in the forums because it helps me "remind" the Devs, yet again, that their system is fundamentally broken.Quote:The mention of Turg in this thread, is because their account is screwed up and they abnormally get theirs about two weeks ahead of everyone else.

Grats. May all your future badging be positively reinforced by in-game accomplishment and deviousness.

Quote:Note that these numbers reflect players in a zone, and not in an instanced mission. Personally I'd give the ratio of zoned players vs instanced as a 1:3 ratio, but that's my wholly unscientific assumption.Last time I checked for another thread...
That makes 1263 unhidden players on Freedom on a Saturday night. The real number would be a bit higher than that. If you are looking for a comparison, that thread was originally talking about Triumph, which had only 430 unhidden at the same time. -
Discuss.
(Funny texture goof-up that made me double-take!) -
I spent 7 hrs commuting tonight, so I have a damn good excuse. Hope it went well for everyone else.

Quote:Hrm. That's why I hit the ESC key to clear my current target reticle. However, there IS a keymap you can point to "target nearest enemy" under Options, too. That would be faster, but after half a decade of MMing, I'm stubborn as heck with my methods.I do have one question though, I may be doing something wrong but I can never seem to target a mob that is close to me when I "Tab target". I always get one that is further away, is there some setting that I need to change? I never have this issue in other MMOs, only this one.
I'd imagine it would work in exactly the same way though.
Quote:Is there any powerset combo that you would recommend for a MM newbie? I've heard bots is the best damage wise, but I'm open to anything. I also don't have a clue about synergizing the primary with a secondary. My last bots MM was /FF, which I found unbearably boring to play solo. I'll give it another go and work on strategies a bit more.Traps gives bots the right balance: Some defense, some debuff, some crowd control, and really makes it a versatile combo than just straight-up buffs or debuffs from /thermal or /FF. /storm's a good combo with MM too for similar reasons. That's not to say the other powersets are any less useful, it's the playstyle that changes from a more passive role to a more dynamically aggressive one.

I might not be there at exactly 930pm, but this sounds like a fun idea. Sure, I'll dig in.
Global's @Turgenev, toons TBA.
(I might bring a higher level toon for the run, as they still earn XP when SK'd down now, so lemme look through my lists..)

Quote:Just interjecting here. This is one of many reasons I don't play masterminds. I made a necro, deleted at lvl 10. I made a bots, deleted at lvl 28. I made a demons, deleted at lvl 16. I prefer to do the fighting myself, and got extremely frustrated with the AI. I am willing to concede that it was likely my own lack of skill that made this AT unplayable to me, but no fun nonetheless.
1. Wyatt, welcome to Freedom.
2. Irish: The best way to manage MM pets is to treat them like fingers of your hand. If you leave them on Defensive or Aggressive and you're not retooling them regularly, then you're asking for a world o' trouble.
I keep them in Defensive (for Bodyguard bonuses), but I'm always giving them a target to lump their attacks. I keep them near me for proximity bonuses/ancillary defense (my main MM's a bots/traps, for instance, so I'll have FFG running as well as a few Poison Traps/Acid Mortars during a hazardous fight). Keeping them near you means you're using your minion cone attacks more logically, instead of trying to imagine where your pet is vs the target all the time.
When a target goes down, I hit ESC, then TAB (to target the closest enemy), then redirect them to drop THAT target. The idea is to always be flushing the closest threats first, working my way outward. Minions to bosses last about 1 second vs 5 seconds depending on the boss.
The system works well for me for my other MM builds (thugs/poison, demon/thermal), but it's in bots/traps where that method shines the most. Don't give up on Masterminds - maybe you just haven't found the right combo for you.It IS a harder AT to play than the others, but no other class comes close to effective mob sweeping than a horde of crazed minions.

Quote:IIRC, an alignment change from one absolute to the other (going from Rogue to Hero, or from Vigilante to Villian) wipes our your in-game titles, and I THINK the badge title as well. If you gimme a few days, I'll test again to be sure (I wanted to take my badger back to Vigilante status anyway, he's sitting on Rogue right now).Perhaps setting one's title as Pilot would keep the title even though the badge itself would turn to Grounded? That may be a workaround for heroes who want to be pilots. Anyone able to test this idea?
I think your only hope on this is to be a Rogue, if you need to retain the Pilot flag. -
Ugh. Sorry for the absence, I fell asleep on the couch this evening.
Hope the runs are going well!
-
Think I'll be here, although I'm feeling rather run down today (beginnings of cold), so I don't know how it'll be tomorrow evening. If I run with this, it'll be with Dr. Turg.
Thanks as always for hosting these!

Sorry for the dropout, I never got the requested powers and I was exhausted by the end of the previous team run to boot. If you need help on the next one, I'll get all the requested powers allocated for you.

There are some areas of those islands where there are underground caves that lead to doors. Not many, but it's possible that's what you're seeing. The tree canopy also makes it difficult to gauge locations.
If all else fails, /petition for assistance, at the very least to report a bug with the mission if it truly is underground (that's with a /bug command). You DO have the ability to "complete" a mission if the mechanics are stuck and you'd like to get past it as well, so you're not completely hamstrung; but Ether sounds like a stock "hero" boss (checked her name on Paragonwiki.com). Is this a newspaper mission?
If you were on Freedom, I'd be happy to investigate with you, I'm kinda curious. As it stands, I don't think I have a toon on Pinnacle to scope the area with (all my toons are on Freedom), but if you're in dire need I can ask a friend who's got a few seeds on Pinnacle if he could help scope it for you. Lemme know. -
I could do this. Global's @Turgenev, lemme find a toon that's appropriate for the requirements you're listing, will update later today.

Quote:Per server is 36 slots. If you have all 36 right now, you can throw the slot onto an alt server. You don't get 37 (although that'd be wicked nice if they bumped that one day, but I'm spoiled rotten). Is that extra slot ABOVE the slot max? I have three unclaimed character slots as it is because I've been at max for ages, and my 2nd acct. is about to cap as well.
No biggie,, not ********, just wondering. -
Quote:First, welcome to Freedom. And lastly, is it common to receive cold invites? Seem to get them a lot, and in other games this is considered bad manners. I usually prefer to get a tell asking me if I am available or would like to join before I get an invite. But if this is the common practice, I won't take offense. Is it rude of me to just decline?
I'm addressing this point first cuz it's something you'll see a lot while you're here. Personally, I live in /hide when I don't want to deal with it (just hide yourself vs searches and that will drop the blindvite requests to near zero). When I'm not in /hide and i get one, I send a quick tell asking what the invite's for - TF/SF, farm, AE arcs, etc. If I want in, I take it; if I don't, I say "no thanks, good luck on the run", and the exchanges are universally pleasant.
Now, the rest of the questions:
1. Hero side gets more activity in general; even more so now that GR is out and people are riding Rogue/Vigilante alignments to get access to both sides. If you're new to the game, I'd start out as Hero personally.
2. Plenty of good SGs out there, but I've ascribed to the idea that good players don't necessarily congregate in a particular guild, but with more general communities. Start getting comfortable with the global channel system, and knowing how to use it and more importantly not being AFRAID to use it.However, when it comes to looking for a SG, my first suggestion is always "do random teams 'til you find people you like". People of certain personality types always run in similarly-minded packs, so if you run with a few good people, keep them on your global list, and meet the rest of their crew. Don't take anyone's word that supergroup X is the best - try it for yourself.
Glad to have you on board the Freedom train, Grimb0t. If you need anything, dial @Turgenev for a good time. -
Quote:Dunno, but...Maybe it's just me, but when I began to really make a determined effort to badge hunt. For my defeat badges Villain-side, I liked to run a Ouro mish to exemplar down while I hunted on the street for added inf. and drop rewards. Granted it took longer, but the rewards really helped back then. That was before AE buildings were in, so in essence that's how I farmed for influence those days. Exemplaring down for Marcone Bosses and Hellfrosts paid dividends for my very first toon moving past level 40, I had no problems buying SO's. Nowadays it's so easy getting influence.

Do I sound old now?
