Any particulat tacticle reason why you are putting immobs in? I'd highly recommend changing those to tohit debuffs.
  3. some of the claws attacks are getting faster anims with issue 7 so don't let it put you off too much

    E.V.I.L. Returns

I'll come for moral support and general cheering on if I can get on Sunday evening. I can't see my lvl 16 unenhanced, runs out of end after 2 mins build being much use for anything else

    Sonic Powers

    [ QUOTE ]
Actually my impressions were related to the fact that until now I'v always been doing few damages with the basic attacks

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'll have that with every defender set, some things may seem more powerful than others though depending on who you are fighting. I.e. you mentioned that you felt like you were doing more dmg with an /elec. Were you fighting clockwork? If you were that is why Another example may be someone might find dark blast more powerful, but they are screwed when they come across banished pantheon.

I wouldn't say you have made a bad choice and I consider every defender secondary to have its good and bad points. The -res from sonic is good, unfortunately though you can't enhance it in anyway like you can the end drain from elec. I can see kin/sonic working fairly well together aswell. Your AoE sleep can be used to good effect for controlling your anchors for transfusion and transferance, and the -res effect complimenting your other siphon powers for example.

    DDD combos

My opening combo is pretty much the same for most things. If fluffy isnt available I'll put darkest night on a boss or lt at the back/middle of the group. It will cause agro but with the reduced accuracy you don't get hit by much. Use twilight grasp if needed. Targeting the same enemy that has DN on, will then use fearsome stare and tentacles to hold them in place and put down tar patch. If I feel it necessary I'll then use petrifying gaze to hold anything, if not just start using nightfall while everything is clumped together. Then just cycle through my other attacks, petrifying gaze, if it looks as thought the fight is going to go on for longer than normal and my original anchor is down I'll pick another one. If fluffy is available at the begining of a fight I'll summon him into the middle of a mob so he can take the alpha and use his chill of the night aura to debuff.

For things like malta groups with sappers I'll try and hold the sapper with PG first. And things that are fear resistent like nemesis I'll use PG more than I would normally.

I do rely on fearsome stare alot. If something goes wrong and another group is agro'd or there is an ambush coming for instance, I'll try and target them and control that group until the original one is finished off.

When I'm having a good day I do think I'm more than capable of keeping a large team alive... theres always the bad days though when nothing I do seems to work out right
  7. I play a stone melee/inv brute if thats any help to you

If you go down the stone melee route I'd highly recommend fault. Good controllish power, couple with something like air sup and the chance of knockdown with mallets adds to your survivability. As people have mentioned Inv is very good until you meet something non smashing or lethal damage. I'm stuck on a CoT mission at the moment cause its full of spectral demons and their negative dmg

    Dark/dark build

Can't see anything wrong with that now. Does seem very different to my build cos I've gone down the more offensive route. Only one thing which you may want to consider is that with stamina you should be able to get by with only 1 end rdx in your toggles (DN, SF) so if you wanted to free up more slots for your attacks then you coul swap those around, also only having 1 immob and 2 hold in PG will free up more slots. But its really down to personal preferance, if you want a more defensive support build you're fine with what you;ve got there. As I've said though, I've gone for a more offensive build so all my attacks are slotted with 3 dmg. I'm on Union server if you need any help, demonstration of powers etc. I'd be happy to help out (@Tufty )
  9. If you have 3 slotted tactics you can get by with only 1 accuracy in twilight grasp and go 1 acc/3 heal/1-2 recharge/0-1 end rdx. Tufty copes fine with this altho that is with the leadership pool buff of a defender.

Tar patch is fine as long as you have 3 recharges in before anything else. Tufty doesnt have any other slots on it although I do have tentacles to keep them in place. From an MM point of view 1 slow is probably worth while but not essential.

    Dark/dark build

I agree with every point Tufty makes there.

Whether this is more worrying for him or me, I cannot say.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I consider it an honour that an experianced D3 such as yourself agree's with me

Given the fact that I generally describe myself as the worst defender I know because I'm just a gimped blaster, probably means you should be worrying

    Dark/dark build

Probably best putting a recharge in twilight grasp instead of tohitdebuff. Darkest night will do your debuffing for you and there may be times you need grasp up a bit quicker.

Put 3 recharges in tar patch before slows. To be honest you don't need any slows in it at all. Tentacles does a good job at keep the mobs in place on your tar patch. Theres 2 slots there you can put in your attacks maybe?

Moonbeam, not sure about slotting attack powers for tohitdebuffs. They offer a very minimal debuff which you really don't get alot out of by enhancing. I'd say its much better going with more dmg or accuracy. And, again, darkest night is there to do your debuffing.

I'd consider swapping around tar patch and darkest night. Tar patch is very good for the -res but only really starts to shine once 3 recharge SO's are slotted and its up for every battle. As long as both are taken early its not a bad build, I would just recommend taking DN first.

Dark pit really isnt a great power. Only mag 1 disorient so it'll only disorient minions. It has very bad accuracy and short duration. I'd recommend skipping it (or if you do take it, it really needs 6 slotting to be effective) and getting fearsome stare at lvl 12.

Tentacles I guess is really down to preference, personally I've always gone for dmg as I have other powers for debuffing but there is nothing wrong with slotting for debuffs.

Fearsome stare as mentioned earlier I'd take at 12, also swap a debuff for a 2nd recharge, 1 acc, 2 fear, 2 recharge 1 debuff would be better imo.

By skipping dark pit and taking FS earlier you can get stamina at 24 instead of 26. If you want it even earlier you could always put shadowfall back. The dmg it protects against doesnt really become too common until after lvl 20.

Petrifying gaze i'd put at least 1 recharge in so you can stack it, ideally at least 1 acc, 2 hold 2 recharge.

Torrent, I woudln't recommend it. Yes its good for getting things out of melee range but you may aswell just immob them with tentacles and back up a bit. Also with torrent theres a chance you'll knock things out of your tar patch which isnt a good idea.

Get nightfall instead. Your 3 cone attacks, fearsome stare, tentacles and nightfall, work very well together.

dark servant can be slotted a number of ways really. I go with 1 acc, 1 heal, 1 hold and 2 to hit debuff. It depends what you want him to do, i.e. you can make him a heal bot and slot 3 heal enhs etc. I'd really recommend putting 2 or 3 tohit debuffs in him though. He has a power called chill of the night which is a debuff aura similar to darkest night. Teleport him into the middle of a mob with darkest night on them and they'll have a very hard time hitting you.

Personally I couldn't cope without stamina and really needed it by lvl 22 so the earlier you can get it the better imo. You are right in leaving out black hole and life drain.

    Katana/DA

Dark Regen without heal enhancements in is still very good so you probably don't need 3 of them in there. You can normally fill your health bar up when surrounded by 2 or 3 enemies. On the other hand it does cost alot of end so I'd consider putting a couple of end reds in there in stead of heals.

Big grats mate, was glad I could help out for some of the afternoon and look forward to teaming again with your new alts
  15. doesn't look as though I'll be able to make the early session after all. If I am online I'll be at Numina at 10. Sorry
  16. Depends how your permissions are set up. By default you can normally promote someone up to the same rank as you but no higher
  17. Gah, thats another one who beat me.. damn Raylin and his slow leveling

Send my grats on to your brother Jum, teamed with him a few times in the late 30s, early 40s
  18. If I'm on tonite and you need a hand getting started then let me know. I don't think I've got time to finish it though and will probably need to go at 8pm. But if you want me there for the begging part then all you have to do is ask

    Team Synergi!

First time I've done a SP tf, quite funny being stood in the middle of 8 +5 freak tanks and not bit hurt

If there are any problems with hosting the demo on the PR webspace I can stick it on SNHS space instead. Once the website is finalised I was thinking about making an all-defender-team section anyway so chances are it'll end up on there at some point

With the uniforms, its a good first try Gen, I like the idea of having a standard uniform with a slight bit of customisation to it. I.e. for mine I'd have a gas mask and radiation symbol, Soundstorm could have the raider mask and the echo symbol etc etc. Not sure if that would work or not for everyone though.
  20. If you are going down the granite armour route then you need to start looking at ways to combat the -spd and -recharge and building fury. Obviously to build fury you need to attack things.. its gonna be hard when in granite cos your powers won't be recharging quick enough, so you are going to have to rely on getting things to attack you. Although I don't think its useful for many other brutes I can see taunt having its uses for a granite brute. You should be able to take more dmg than other sets so I would of thought having taunt so you can keep things attacking you would be a good idea. Get mudpots aswell, again to help with keeping agro. Slotted correctly you could possible just keep agro on you with mudpots running if you didn't like the idea of taking taunt.

Its a hard one to decide on really, you are in no way a tank but when in granite you can't rely on your attacks to build fury so you need them to attack you, but how much agro are you going to be able to survive?

I'd really recommend fault. Its a great 'Oh [censored]!' power for when you are in over your head and saved me on numerous occasions.

You will obviously need stamina, I guess hasten would come in useful aswell. TP is normally the recommended travel power for someone with stone armour. Then for surviving agro you'd also need to rely on things like rooted and earths embrace.

Other than finding a friendly /kin corrupter to team with tho I don't know what else to suggest
  21. Not played mine for a long time now, firstly I have most of the regulars on my global friends and whenever I look no-one else is on. Secondly I'm really getting into CoV and when I'm not playing Tufty i'm playing my brute, Trogflopper. Thirdly, I know he probably wouldn't like me to say it, but it just doesn't feel the same with Doulos' enthusiam to drive us on. Fantastic idea? Yes! Another 2 week wonder? Looks like it. At least for me anyway
