I, personally, would rather never grind another Alignment Merit ever if I can help it, and I swear to God if I ever see The One Good Bane Spider ever again I'm going to snap, go Villain, and break his neck.

I like playing the game when I sit down to play it, not working another job mindlessly grinding my eyes out for one more merit.
I never grind for A-merits or anything else for that matter. I can always do another few days or weeks without that LotG, or T3 Judgement, or whatever. If I don't feel like doing things I simply don't do it. I got all the stuff to equip my 50's through just playing the game doing arcs and tf's when and if I feel like doing them. I turn my R-merits into random rolls, craft the results along side my regular drops, store the expensive stuff I might need and sell the rest.

Of course it helps that I don't care about uber tricked out builds, so I don't bother with purples or pvp IO's. The LotG and Miracle uniques are usually the most expensive things in my builds.
  2. I didn't buy any of them. I still have a handfull of the uniques in storage and plenty of spare inf to get more if I need them.

I got a couple of the Kin Combat Tris as well.
Heh, my reasoning is completely opposite. I find them so easily obtainable in game (and I don't even farm or play the market for inf) that I really can't justify spending even trivial amounts of my hard earned money on them.

That follow up is the important part. Those people didn't actually pay €1000 for those (well not most of them anyway, there always may be a nutter or 2). They spent the equivalent in in-game currency, most of which they earned in-game.

In the game EVE there are plenty of corporations (guilds) and even players who have thousands of dollars worth of in-game currency in in-game assets, sometimes a good deal more than that. They didn't buy all that stuff with real money (not counting their subscription) they just earned it in-game.

Yes, and Street Justice was created just for scrappers, but the other melee ATs could have it too since it was there anyway.

I think you're losing perspective a little with your martyr complex.

I'm mainly a corrupter, dominater and controller player, so I see where you're coming from with the abundance of melee sets, but some of the things you've said in this thread are just so skewed towards your perspective that you're almost making stuff up.

If instead of being a hero I switch to being a vigilante do I still earn alignment merits as a vigilante? Or are alignment merits just for heroes/villains?

Is there a downside to being a vigilante instead of being a hero?
Alignment merits (A-merits) are only for 'pure' alignments, meaning heroes and villains. Vigilantes and Rogues don't get A-merits.

The downside of being vigilante/rogue instead of hero/villain is that you don't get A-merits and can't enter Fort Trident/The Crucible. The upside is that you can travel anywhere on either side.

You get an A-merit every time you work through a series 10 tips + alignment mission.
Or you can pick one as a reward for the 'Who will die?' arcs.
Or you can convert 50 reward merits + 20 million inf into an A-merit in Fort Trident/The Crucible.
  6. Other things I would like to see improved:

    - The 'Buy Now' and 'Wish list' buttons really should go away on one off items I already have (costume parts, power sets, ...). If it can track those things on your account, then why not on the market?

    - If individual costume items are part of a complete set or bundle it should be included in their description.

    - A minor thing, but: If I select, for example, Powers -> Power Sets I would like to get a complete overview with all available power sets. Now I have to select again Melee/Ranged/Support before I even get to see one. The same for Costumes -> Costume Sets. I know you can select 'Costume Bundles' here to get an overview, but less clicks is better, so that category would become redundant. There are a lot more categories were an instant overview like that would be an improvement imo.

So as SilverAgeFan notes, we have to look things up in the Forums or on CoHTitan and then search them down in the Market.
Costumes -> Costume sets for the complete packs

Costumes -> any of the other options for different parts.

Yes, it still is a bit of a mess to look through those categories. Way to many clicks to come to what you need.

There should be a simple easy to locate button that any visitor to the store can press to see with absolute clarity the very newest releases in order of their release. Yes today the pilgrim hat did miraculously make it to the front page of "Featured"--but it is at the bottom of the page below street justice & enhancement inventory ??? because I can only view "new" items ordered by price, best selling or alphabetical. bwuh??? And then when I click the "New" tab, this is what I see in order on the front page: Valkyrie Smooth Boots, Vanguard Shoulder 1, Vanguard Shoulder 2, Character Server Transfer. And that's sorted by "best selling." We all know none of those items are "new" in any meaningful use of the word.

It's absurd that this aspect of the store interface currently is as poorly executed as it currently is. As a potential and semi-eager customer, I should not have to hunt and peck through a zillion pages or jump out of the store interface, log in to the forums (that still log me out between each visit despite resetting my forum password) and then check the beta boards to see what item might or might not be in the store based on what has been in testing.

To be absolutely clear: there should be a page that, on today in particular, would show a release history from newest to oldest along the lines of:
    • Pilgrim Hat - released 11/22
    • German Shepherd - released 11/15
    • Autumn Path Aura - released 11/8

    etc.

C'mon guys. This is marketing 101, not rocket science.
Yes! One of my main complaints with the Paragon Store is that it doesn't actually list the newest items under new! If I click 'new' I want to see the newest items show up on top! How hard could that be?

As a villain I used to hunt them in Bloody bay, there're quite a few of them there. I'm all for lowering the target number to a more realistic size though.
  10. My relatively cheaply slotted dark/dark corr 'soloed' Jurrasic with the aid of a HVAS and Shivans. This was pre incarnate slots. I wanted the badge, but it was in the middle of the night and noone wanted to help so I decided to go for it solo. The hardest part was not giving up due to an accute case of boredom.

I never got this. All the people complaining about the 'gimmicky' nature of the Incarnate trials and so. I like it that you have to do different things to complete different tasks. What do you guys want then? Just a standard story arc with a big sack of HP to beat down at the end like all the 'old school' SF/TFs? Because everyone always keeps on raving about how great those are...

    Or both.

Drop the requirement down to what it was last year: 8.
I don't think there actually was a minimum requirement last year. I know I did it with a group of 3. We even had 11 seconds to spare!

(and I've seen some doozies.)

To me, this is the first I have heard that really shows that "Free to Play" is a gigantic lie. You can play for free, for life. Of course, we balanced the entire game around stuff you cannot afford if you play free. Good Luck after 20th level my free playing friend!

It would have been a lot smarter to entice customers to move from free to premium. Forcing people to buy stuff while telling them they have a choice is a decision right up there with netFlix's recent series of brilliant ideas.

This could be fixed in a number of ways. I know the Devs are crazy busy. Changing the rewards multiplier for basic ind drops sounds onerous, but may be simple. They could either lower the price of SOs so that Free players can afford them on what inf drops normally. Or they could have contacts just give the things away as rewards for completing arcs or something. But I actually expect no changes to occur. i am sure this is not on anyone's radar at CoX's offices.

About the only thing I truly expect to happen with this issue is for this thread to disappear in 5.67 seconds and me getting a msg in my in box saying "don't do that"
I think you're greatly exaggerating the issue. Your wife will earn inf as she plays and levels. Just don't bother with TOs as they're not worth the cash and make sure to sell all your drops. If you just play-level you should get enough money to replace most your stuff when it expires. At least that's how us old timers did it back in the day, when there weren't any of them fancy inventions or markets or email. Now get of my lawn!
  18. I know some people on ridiculously expensive characters that I wouldn't take with me Mo badge runs even if they payed me for it. I also know people I would take along if all they could bring was a SO concept build. That says it all I think.

I can think of a few reasons that, at least for me, are deal breaking.

    1) The regular travel powers don't cost 80 points, they're free.
    2) I can still use my powers while using the regular travel powers, which makes them useful in missions. I got a number of flyers that never touch the ground, they either hover or fly all the time. Can't do that on rocket boards, nor can you ghost missions with it.
    3) If I have to choose between concept and performance, concept usually wins out (up to a point). I don't have a single character that would use something like the hover board, so I never bought it.

I do have a few characters that use ninja run and one that uses beast run as their travel power, but again that is for concept reasons and has little to do with build efficiency or performance. I even have a character that uses 3 slotted sprint. (I would LOVE a ninja run like power that doesn't use the ninja stance but is more like parkour.)

That being said, I do get your point, and I am in favor of making the classic travel powers inherent. I would make one of the travel power(pool)s selectable on character creation.
  20. The idea for a pack like this is cool, but the price is way to high for the actual contents.
  21. It's called Fish Hook. I found it on all 3 character types in the character creator.

Head-> Standard->Face-> the 25th item on the list.

    In other words, cat herding.

What they need is a trial where playing the game is the important part instead of organizing.
'Cat herding' has a negative connotation that implies that what you're attempting is chaotic and extremely difficult if not impossible. As I said, I don't see how that's true for any Itrial run a few days after it's respective trials release. All the PuG trials I see consist of grabbing the first 12-24 people that show up and, maybe, shouting a couple of lines in league chat at a few key moments. Not exactly something I consider 'cat herding' but, ymmv.

And what, exactly, do you consider playing the game? I sure don't play the game any differently in the trials than outside.
  23. Is there a reason the snake hair isn't available for male (and huge) models?

If it is because the Medusa is a female figure, well, that reasoning is really poor. The Minotaur is male, but we got cow heads for females in the animal pack.

Look, David, Jay, unknown costume piece designers. I love you guys and your work, and again you have delivered some really awesome pieces with this halloween pack. But the way you keep some costume pieces limited to certain genders does not make sense. AT. ALL.

Revamp the current TF's like they did Posi's. That one's actually fun again.

And don't get me started on bases. I'd PAY MONEY for a base item pack. With stuff in it that's already in the game world and maps.
So, brand new incarnate trials aren't 'actual new content' now? And why does it have to be 'actual new content' OR Itrials?

For me, the main issue with the Itrials is that there aren't enough of them. Each of the trials in itself isn't grindy, repetitive or boring. It only gets that way if you repeat them ad nauseam, which is why I don't do that. This results in that I only have 2 incarnate characters that I consider finished (one on T4s and one T3s). I'd like to have a couple more, but as you said doing the same thing over and over gets old. The way to fix this is adding more trials, so there's more variety and I can spend an afternoon doing trials, not having to repeat a single one. Which I'm glad the devs are doing.

I'm also glad that the devs have been releasing a whole string of new story arcs and new and revamped zones (or 'actual new content' as you put it.) There's even a new arc guaranteed every month! There hasn't been a single Issue release since this whole Incarnate thing started that didn't also include story arcs or TFs. If you look at the release of GR till now, the amount of new content has been pretty good, and the amount of 'actual new content' far outstrips the amount if Itrials.

I'm not getting these "cat herding" comments. Are the people on your server really that inept? On my server all I'm seeing is back to back successful PuG trial runs, even Keyes. I've lead or helped lead a fair amount of them myself. Yes, there's the occasional mistake or random idiot which can result in some chaos but apart from Mo-badge runs I fail to see the big issue with that.
