Quote:Which doesn't change a damn thing about what I said ...Ultra Mode is like putting sprinkles on **** if you don't have good quality stuff to do to enjoy it. Gameplay has been whats kept most of us here all this long while, not some graphics upgrade that adds a shadow.
Quote:Inherent Fitness should have been introduced in Going Rogue since they stated their target was to attract new players, new players aren't as aware they have to take that pool to function without as much of an interruption in their play. Then changing it on the new players once they know that they need it 3 months later seems to make so much sense. They should have had the vision to see this and put it into place with GR since this is designed to help keep the new subscribers, not just us long-timers. Not all of a sudden realize during their actually reading their forum topics of people that had an expectation and conveyed it of why a good chunk of people didn't like to play the majority of the addition that is pre-20 stuff because of no stamina, then a few days later they unveil this big idea, "hey gang inherent fitness!". Should have been done before i19. -
Quote:The only thing that was removed from GR were the two first ranks of the Alpha slot that we are getting now ...This...
GR and how it's been split into different parts, some of which had to be paid separately is very bush league.
And it was just that, the Alpha slot itself. No unlocking arc, no TF's to use them on.
It was all rather underwhelming. I'm very glad they decided to postpone it.
The other part that got 'removed' was Ultra Mode. It came sooner and was free. -
Quote:Breakfrees. Use them.I'll just reiterate that this comment is as groundless as it was before.
Quote:The point is that at base levels there is a statistically significant chance that even a very skilled player, that has spent a TON on a support AT could have everything turn on 1 event. Yes, there are breakfrees available for this situation, but as the amount of mez has proliferated, the amount of breakfrees able to be carried hasn't also gone up (or the duration on each hasn't gone up). If this was an issue that was consistent, or even more consistent across ATs, then there wouldn't be a discussion.
Quote:First, it's not a really a big fuss. It would be a nice, welcome change to try some adjustment to the way mez is in the game. It seems like there are several ways that may work for this. Some people may a preference for one idea or another, but I don't think most are set on one idea. It's far from a fuss to say, "X is out of balance some, and often causes frustration. Not something most people would quite the game over, but it would be a nice QoL change for the people that play support types.
But, the reason it's come up at all, if by, "big fuss," you mean, 'raised the issue,' is that almost everything else, you can do with any AT, if you want to, but APP/PPP power selection, or careful IOing. Mez protection is the one area you can't. Wanna blast with a tank? You can. Wanna heal others with a Brute? No prob. Wanna mez with a scrapper? Sure thing. Soft cap a blaster, like a SR scrapper? Easy (maybe expensive, but...).
2/3 the ATs have some mez redress already, so it's not likely gonna be game breaking to look at mezzes again.
Quote:And, to further add why it's specifically mezzes and not something else, is that there is a frustration factor of not being able to do anything at all. It's even worse if you can't do anything at all, and are vulnerable. And if proactive defense IS your defense, then getting mezzed is akin to getting all your toggles dropped. Which was so frustrating for tanks and scraps and brutes (even as rarely as they get mezzed) that players lobbied to get that changed, successfully, and justly so.
Quote:I'm glad you leveled your corruptors and defender when it wasn't an issue, back when mezzes were rarer. Or that you played only in situations that minimized the effect. Or that you just plain got very lucky. Regardless, it is an issue. Not a huge one. I'm not planning on quitting the game, or even playing certain ATs less. Some people might, but I can't speak for them on that. But, several people have explained the issue quite eloquently, if you wanted to reread through most of the discussion.
Quote:I've played 6 defenders and 3 controllers to 50. And about 45 other supports ATs (Corrs, Defs, and Trollers). And I didn't find it an issue either for the first 3 or 4 years I played this game. It really only changed fairly recently. But, if you started playing your support ATs again, and found you were getting mezzed just the right amount for your particular tastes, I'm sure you wouldn't have to slot any theoretical IO they added. Or you wouldn't have to respec into theoretical APP mez protection powers. But I'm fairly confident that if you started playing any of the alts you mentioned again with any regularity, and realized that there is a difference now, and some form of mez protection were made available, you'd seek it out.
There, I can make baseless assumptions too.
1 of those 50 corruptors is my main. 2 others are played very regularly as well. and I'm currently in the process of leveling 2 other corrs. 1 went through Praetoria.
I still don't have any problems. -
Quote:So ... it made sense that they said they would aim for the 16th or the first week after thanksgiving if the 16th wasn't possible. You're right they haven't said much of anything lately. The last M&G they were all about promoting the game and that they were shooting for the 16th and if not it would be the week after thanksgiving. Made sense to me, get the game out there for everyone to play during their extra time off from work, but I guess that almost makes toooo much sense.
I guess it was my fault for thinking that they would actually "try" to keep their paying customers happy and not continue the trend of stringing them along with less and less. So when I saw i19 enter into open beta testing last week I had a false sense of "hey they might actually get it out there" so I resubbed to see a glimpse of the incarnate stuff on beta before it hit live. Since they are so good at announcing things in advance the fact that we finally get some kind of word on the 17th about them not releasing on the 16th or during the next two weeks is kind of.....irksome?
Now they're doing exactly that but suddenly they're 'stringing people along with less and less'.
You make less and less sense with every post.
Quote:My request is just as legitimate as their excuse, sure go ahead and postpone the release, postpone my resub bill by 14 days while they are at it. -
Quote:Breakfrees. Use them.Next time you play solo, try this:
When you miss an attack with a recharge of about 10-15 seconds or so as melee, turn off all your defenses that you can for 45 seconds.
On a regular mission you probably won't die. Boosted settings are probably going to ruin your day though.
No matter how much accuracy there still is a chance of a miss. And if going against higher level you get less duration as well as being harder to hit them in the first place but the defense can be countered to an extent.
10-15 seconds represents recast time on my crowd control stuff. I don't know the timings for other sets but I'd assume they are similar. Any time you miss with that attack though means whatever you wanted to mez now has free reign to shoot back and stun/hold/sleep with impunity.
I certainly can have reasonable success at such accuracy but it is a far cry from anything approaching guaranteed. Additionally, if I attempt larger spawn sizes the chance is now more that a miss will occur on anything vital. With 2 mezing lieutenants, I have a ~90% chance with AoE to not get hit with return fire that may include a stun or anything. Add more and that percentage goes down even further. 10% of the time with a chance death with 2 stun/hold/sleep lieutenants. In practice this is a bit lower because mobs have only a 50% base chance to hit modified by level and may choose not to actually use it. With a boss, it's at least 10+ seconds to even consider mezing because no single application will do it.
Move to a team and my awe inspiring AoE sleep is near useless, leaving me with a single target stackable stun, which I use. Any team will cause multiple lieutenants to spawn so I can only lock down one while the other can shoot at whoever they feel like. Granted there's no real risk to dying in a team context, but I'm now on the sidelines for 45 seconds if the RNG picks me after trying to do the defender-y things I signed up for when making a corruptor!
10% exposure vs. 0%. The only thing I want is a way to reduce this mez equals death equation that you vehemently defend as a good thing. Mez as a mechanic is fine. Mez duration needs to be fixed.
If you can't play at higher level enemies or increased spawnsizes without dieing, then Don't. Simple.
45 second duration mezzes? What, where? Sleeps can be a bit long, but they break as soon as you get hit. Malta stuns can be a ***** agreed, but overal I think your exagerating a wee bit.
I played 4 corruptors (dark/dark, ice/kin, ene/sonic, fire/pain) and a defender (rad/rad) to 50 and have twice that number on lower levels and I really don't see the big fuss people are throwing over mezzes. -

Quote:So the ones released this year aren't part of the sale. That makes sense. To bad though, the only one I'm missing is the Party Pack because I found it to expensive. I would've gotten that one for 3 though.
- Cyborg Pack
- Magic Pack
- Science Pack
- Good vs Evil Pack
- Wedding Pack
- Mac Item Pack
- 30-Day Jetpack
Ah well, maybe next year. -
Costumes do zilch as well. Pure eye candy. They're hardly comparable to weather effects. Unless you claim they are, then we're done discussing.
Also weather effects influencing your powers, and different powersets in a different way at that, is just about the worst idea I've heard on here in a while. -
Quote:I personally use Avira. Works great for me. http://www.free-av.com/Switching to FireFox now....and I'll add Adblock. I already use MalwareBytes and its still not getting everything. I used AGV but uninstalled since the blue screens of death (UNKOWN HARD ERROR) did'nt start till I installed AGV 2days ago (I was backtracking). It seems like AGV is a bit of a resource hog (I dont have very much resources to spare). Is there any other free anti-virus program that works well? It qould be great if it had a "OFF" button also for when I'm gaming.
You should start the pc in safemode and do a full system scan that way. The one time my pc got infected with malware none of the scanners I ran found it. But when I ran them a second time in safemode the evil bugger was firmly squashed.
I also recommend Spybot - search & destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html to use togheter with Malwarebytes. It's another malware scanner but this one also acts as a preventive shield against spyware (as long as you update once a week). -

If you're going to give Mez protection to every AT, you might as well do away with mezzes entirely.
-
Weather would be great. The devs should get right on it!
Right after they finished the incarnate slots, power customisation, power proliferation, revamping old content, revamping old costumes, more new costumes, more animations, a merged server list ...
Just to say that, yes weather would be nice, but I'd rather have the devs working on just about anything else first. -

Quote:Wow, when does your MMO launch? With all these great insight I bet it's gonna be awesome.Where did I say that PvP was the savior?
This game has a bunch of subcultures within it, PvP was one decently large enough that was thriving. Before PvP got revamped I was of the mind that subtle changes were necessary, they pushed wholesale sweeping changes, I adapted to the new bugs, many of which are very laughably broken 2 years later. They pushed the bugs through to live without acknowledging fixes coming, that's fine, sooner or later they would have realized things were broken and fixed them if they paid attention to it, but they haven't. They know about their bugs in the i19 and are acknowledging fixes coming, I can handle a bug on my doms for a month if I know that it's being looked into.
My analogy to the way PvP has been treated is relevant to all subcultures within this game. If you're a RPer, this could happen to you, if you like emotes what was once free now costs money, bases are still broken. A known bug and fix coming down the pipe that affects less than the majority I can deal with.
No if I get my own MMO you can't have a job, I have high expectations. When something goes into production for so long about so little compared to what has already been developed in this game it would make me a little bit on edge about what is going on.
The head of the game needs to hold themsleves more accountable than just throwing out vague information for a year and then clearing it up the week before launch. First the information was allowed to linger about the first level of incarnates in GR and then the next 9 in i19 up until posi rebuked that the week before GR came out. Now the first slot that we are supposed to get isn't even the complete slot? It seems we are going backwards with all of this information that is allowed to linger and no authoritative interjection.
But it doesn't really matter anyways, their insight would be clouded and mysterious anyways until they can pull a fast one the week before launch of something new. -
Game mechanics:
I would've made the whole defense/tohit/accuracy system different. It's needlesly complex.
I would've gone without recharge enhancers and +recharge set bonusses. Every power would have a fixed recharge time, faster than the current unenhanced ones. I'd leave hasten in though, again, with a fixed non-perma recharge time.
This would fix a lot of the balancing problems in the game imo.
Randomly spawning voids and cysts. Gone.
PvP gone. If you're not going handle it properly, you're better of not having it at all. Lots of wasted resources there.
Game lore:
The whole lore behind power customisation and inventions. What where they thinking?
The whole council/5th column mess. I'd have just left the 5th alone and never bothered with the council.
And why is the Reichsman involved with the column? It would've made a lot more sense if he had brought his own troops.
Cimerora and Croatoa. I love the ITF and the Croatoan arcs, but it all feels so hamfisted and barely connected to the rest of the content that I think those resources could've been better spent on other content.
Or at the least I would've made proper Cimerorian leaders, instead of confusing and inspirationless incarnations of signature characters.
I'd have given the Praetorian Praetors an actual grey morality instead of turning them all into cold hearted megalomaniacs and sociopaths. -
Quote:This. And breakfrees. And this is why powers like Increase Density, Thaw, and Clarity exist. I have never seen an Empath or /Pain Domination not take Clear Mind or Enforced Morale, but have seen many /Kinetics, /Thermals, and /Sonics pass on taking their Mez Resist granting powers, mostly at lower levels. Hopefully i19 might help remedy that. USE EM!
-
Good. I was hoping this would be the case.
I rather have an issue later with fewer bugs than one NOW that'll bork some of my characters.
Thanks for keeping us informed. -
That a known fact? Or just speculation?
Cause I really don't see the logic in that. You don't axe a veteran animation lead when there're plenty of others you can get rid off.
Maybe he took the hit instead of one of his animation team or something. Maybe because he was on the look out for new challenge anyway. I can see that. But amongst the handfull of people that got tossed out they lose the loyal, experienced lead animator? Doesn't make the least bit of sense. -

Quote:Judging by the updated cohhelper you posted, you're drivers are borked again too though. Overheating does seem like a very likely culprit, but there might be something else going on aswell.Bit of an update: I took the card out, cleaned it, put it back in, and ran the game at 1280*1024. Looks kinda goofy only using 2/3rds of the monitor, but I was able to play for a few hours straight with no crash so likely it is the resolutions that was causing the issues for COH. Thanks for the help

I'm Dutch, but I live in Belgium. Other players from Belgium or the Netherlands I know are having the same experience as me.
