My pets come first and I just feel that an MM without pets is not an MM. On a side note, I have a large number of buffing toons too and support the team, but never the MM pets since that is the MM's job. Interesting to see the differences.
I really dislike this MM 'I buff only my pets mentality', up to the point where I'm tempted to kick MM's off my team if I see the team struggling and the MM failing to apply his buffs to the team. (I don't, but I'm tempted.) For example that one time on an ITF, when a demons/pain MM kept exclusively healing his pets while our tank kept being killed by Romulus and the huge swarm of roman ambushes, which in turn caused some squishies to go under. The only reason I didn't kick then, was because it wasn't a very strong team, and we needed his damage.

If the team is sailing through I don't care what you do, but if the team is struggling a MM better switch his buffing priorities to the teammates otherwise he's only half as useful as he could be imo. It's the same as a corruptor or a controller completely neglecting his secondary while teaming.

Also, out of curiosity, how do consider /dark and /storm not support? It's basicly all they do. Maybe we just have different definitions of 'support'.

Besides there are so many aura/temp powers being thrown around these days how is a new aura for this even really going to reliably serve its purpose?

There will always be naive/idiot players who choose to not listen to requests made by other players on trials like these. I understand your frustration with these players not playing well with others. I just don't see your suggestion as something that would be helpful enough to be worthwhile. *shrugs*
What it will solve, is that I can kick players who are glowing but completely unresponsive to any sort of advice/directions/commands in any form of chat for whatever reason. I can also add them to my blacklist and make sure they don't get on my trial runs again.

I give a lot of leaway to new and inexperienced players, in all parts of the game. I actually enjoy playing with new people quite a lot. But if you're failing to respond to basic instructions even after having everything explained in league chat before we start, and then at least once more in league, broadcast and team chat each, while in the trial, I can only conclude that you're doing it on purpose. Playing without any chat windows open, while on a group oriented effort like the trials, is the same as 'doing it on purpose' imo.

I don't call 150 threads, some; I call 150 threads a LOT. Quite a few of us don't have the time to spend hours doing the same 2 sodding trials again and again and again, to get enough threads to sidegrade, you know. Quit turning CoH into WoW!
Objectivly it isn't much, it just 10% of the actual thread cost of the salvage piece. What's really the issue, imo, is the pittiful return you get on turning stuff into threads.

If you want to tell me that anyone who reads it incorrectly, given years of contrary precedent, is an illiterate moron, then I am perfectly justified in telling you that you're an arrogant jerk.

But I wouldn't do that, because it's irrelevant even if it is true -- just as most of your contributions to this thread have been. All I'm saying is that if I didn't have forum-derived confirmation that the blurbs in those recipes are accurate, I'd have a hard time committing a Very Rare to what looks like it could be a mistake in the design.
Ooh, I like those clever word games where you can insult a person and then in the same stroke pretend you didn't really, because you never would do something like that. Moral highground, yo!

I didn't call anyone an 'illiterate moron'. I just said you failed at reading comprehension. Which you did. But that's not the main issue. I read stuff wrong from time to time too.

What really bugs me (and this is a pet peave of mine, not just here but everywhere) is that people read something and then interpret something in a way so that it clearly, obviously doesn't make any sense. As you apparently did. But instead of thinking things through and going, "hmm, that doesn't make any sense, where did I go wrong?" they immediatly fly off to start whining (on the forums in this case) that stuff doesn't make sense. Instead of using their brain for a bit.

That's the issue I have. I'm not saying people don't have any brains, I'm complaining that people always fail to use it.

If that makes me a jerk, than so be it. I can live with that.

No, it doesn't. That's some powerfull basic reading comprehension fail right there.

Living Relic Sidegrade -- Converts a very rare Incarnate Component into another very rare Incarnate Component of your choice. It requires some additional Incarnate Threads to catalyze the information.

Needs: 1 Living Relic and 150 Threads

The text plainly says that it converts a very rare incarnate component (in this case the Living Relic, since you know, it says "Living Relic Sidegrade" at the start and "Needs: 1 Living Relic" quite clearly there at the bottom) into another of your choice. That last bit indicating that you'll get to choose which other piece of salvage you'll convert your Living Relic into.
There really isn't a lot of mental gymnastics involved here.

    Fire/SS tanker

(The other person who got the 10 threads table in the first run logged out after the first trial. He was also a fire/rad corr)

The Cold/Son and Fire/Rad took out eight crates, the cold/son kept everyone buffed as well as using Sleet everytime it's up and attacking...

Something is definitely off for these results to happen. These guys ARE participating.
I'm starting to think, that if there's something wrong, that it is related to specific characters or even players and not necessarily ATs/power sets.

One of my brothers plays a Fire/SS tanker, and my other a SS/Fire brute and they both get plenty of high end salvage (and a lot more low stuff as well), and never the 10 threads.

I now enough people playing mostly support characters (myself included, corruptors mostly) and none of them are really lacking in usefull reward drops either.

I think this is the sort of thing you should be wary of doing, and the only reason I'm not personally there yet is because even with the apparently amazingly high illiteracy rate among MMO players my overall success rate is still pretty high running trials.
Great Idea. I'm there. The devs can go ahead and add this. It's been a long while since I failed a Lambda, even though there are always at least 1 or 2 portals left open, but the stubborn refusal of people to listen to basic instructions in a group effort really rubs me the wrong way.

    Quote:
I know some people are shy, some don't really want to talk in team or league, and some honestly don't really know all that much about the game except what they needed to know to play it however they decided to play it. You don't need to know about temp powers or the temp power listing to play the game to 50. So whether I'm leading the trial or not, I always say in league "Everyone check your temp power listing for acids. It might not have dropped in your tray" unless the league looks like they are wiping the portals out fast. I usually repeat and emphasize if a portal or two doesn't magically snuff itself within a few seconds. I think the important thing to mention is that it might not be in their tray: they might have gotten more than one drop, they might not have had space, whatever. And its important to tell everyone to check, because sometimes someone goes the wrong way and can cause drops to cross to the other team.
I don't care if you're shy, or that you don't feel like talking about stuff in group. You don't have too. Most of the time I'm not much of a talker myself. I can be perfectly silent for hours on end, in game and in real life even in a room full of people, and enjoy myself perfectly fine.

But in a group effort you NEED to at the least LISTEN to basic instructions and ACT ON THEM. That has nothing to do with being shy or whatever.

And if you don't know what to do, JUST ASK. At the very worst you might be ridiculed by some random retard on the internet, something which I see rarely happen in this game, and at best you have a bunch of people falling over themselves to explain it to you in varying degrees of detail, something that happens quite often in this game.

Until such time as we SEE all of this happeing in the world zones, it isn't happening. It's completely ridiculous to go in to a mission, see a large area of a game zone totally wrecked, and then when you come out it's all perfectly fine.

It utterly destroys any kind of immersion or continuity, and tears the 4th wall down whilst mooning the players.
Are you for real? What destroys your immersion is your completely ridiculous expectations.

Yes. Or no. It was simple the very first time I saw it too. You pick 1 of 4(or 8) items of a list and match it to the one you need, I fail to see how pen and paper are needed in that.

The only thing confusing about this whole incarnate crafting system is seeing how many people are being confused by something so simple ...

I agree the interface could've been a bit more fluid, but I really fail to see how the basic crafting system is to much for anyone to grasp.

I'm just saying that nothing changed. Everything from the previous issues is still around. So you can still go on enjoy doing what you enjoyed before.

Only suddenly a number of people are complaining that simply because the end game as is, or end game in general doesn't appeal to them that there is nothing for them to do anymore. All the old stuff hasn't gone away. If you feel that the game is dull, well that's not really a problem with the game. It's just what it is, you've gotten bored of the game. It happens.

If all the old stuff doesn't appeal to you anymore or you find that even the new stuff "After a while [] becomes as tiresome as trudging through a warehouse full of guys standing around pounding their fists", despite it being the most varied content to date, then nothing the devs reasonably can come up with in this game is going to satisfy you. The game isn't going to radically change into another game. If the basic gameplay doesn't appeal to you (anymore) nothing is going to fix that.

Reading stuff like this makes me wonder what people are expecting, exactly. We're playing a MMO, you know? An old MMO. People need to remember that. What you're complaining about is the basic gameplay this game is built around. That's not going to change.

Everyone seems to be expecting some in depth next gen gaming experience that revolutionises how this game works and then are surprised when they end up dissapointed.

You can reinforce him as a villain with the tip missions.
Did you do all the unlockable characters? Television is a blast.
Go through Ouroborous and do the arcs you skipped.
Use AE. This is exactly what it is intended for.

This is a MMO. Half of that is running stuff you already did with a group of friends. That's where the fun lies. If you're not into socialising, you're going to run out of things to do at a certain point, that's just how it is.

The two new TFs are among the best stuff this game has to offer imo. They're varied, well constructed gameplay wise and internally consistent storywise. I like how they flow from one mission into another, with each mission being clearly different from the previous.

And how is fighting on a battle ship fleet and taking on a giant floating fortress or making a powerfull mage your b**** while competing with various villain groups and taking on one of the most powerful heroes alive on his own turf and completely annihilating the lot of them not epic?

    QoL Issues

    1. Do something about the lag in large scale encounters. Though I seem to have less trouble with it than most, it's still annoying. Not being able to fire of powers while they show as recharged, but actually aren't, gets old FAST.

    2. Pet peeve: Make the names of recipes and their respective crafted enhancements match 100%. There is no line in it whatsoever and it's really freaking annoying when trying to use the search function on the market. If the recipe says dam/acc the crafted enhancement can be anything from dam/acc, damage/accuracy, accuracy/damage, or there's an extra space in there somewhere, or there's just a damn typo in one version or the other or ...

3.a. Make the memorized recipes tab closed by default instead of open in your recipes window.
3.b. Make memorized recipes exempt from the "usefull salvage" warning.

    4. Find a way to make Mayhem (and Safeguard) missions available through Ouroborous. Or don't tie accolade badges that give powers to them. With the current leveling speed and the slew of things to do it's easy to skip one or two, especially in the lower levels. And Praetorians miss two no matter what you do.

    5. Make me move contacts out of my active list or even delete from my list altogether. Or do away with the automatic introductions. Having a whole slew of contacts that don't interest me on any particular character clog up my contact list irks me.
  17. In no particular order.

Stalagmites: stomp -> spikes -> whole spawn walking around groggy

Soulstorm: Coolest looking hold in the game. It's just beautiful.

Wormhole: Most fun on outdoor maps, where you can make it rain badguys.

Fearsome stare: My favourite power in my favourite support set.
