I got the impression you had a little passive agreesive guilt about empathy having heals.
Having abilities that heal really isn't a bad thing. Other than that, like most guides I have seen, a little overkill on pontification. -
The all Corrupter ITF lasted 1:31
We had a hard time getting people but we managed to scrape 7 together and to with that.
This went nice and easy as expected. It was entertaining that we had a couple people on the team concerned whether we would be able to finish. They were amazed we could do it without a tank. The pulling duty went to the dark corrupter and the rest was scourge melting mobs.
Friday is the final all XXX ITF in the series. -
The last two of the series of all XXX are scheduled. Corruptors and Stalkers get to strut there stuff this week. I look foward to seeing you there!

Quote:I think your memory is blurry then if you say there never has been any Empathy defender hate on this forum. I have been here since the begining as well and there were significant posts of frustration, hate and anger geared at the empathy set.Actually, you're way off. We're tired of groups stopping dead unless someone is sitting in the back with heal aura on auto. We're tired of being, as defenders with all manner of shiney buttons and neat tricks to help our teams, told just "just sit back and heal". We're tired of being told that defender x is a proper defender because he/she has a heal and does nothing but spam it. It's not uncommon for these "healers" to not even BE empathy defenders - I've seen rad defenders billing themselves as healers, skipping entire swaths of awesome rad powers to take medicine and rock Radiant aura. It's enough to make you cry.
There is little if any Empathy defender hate on this forum, and there never has been. How do I know? I've been playing one since the game launched and have been posting on this forum just as long. It's the bad players, the ones that insist on having a healer and those bad players who play this amazing buff set as a portable green number generator that gets most of us. Empath != healer. They are SO incredibly much more than that. -
For the future of the product, please drop travel supression.
-
I am happy with Dark Armor as is.
-
Just as a matter of reinforcement. DA can be super with just SOs with just stamina. Physical perfection is not a requirement even in high end builds. It does provide some solutions if you want to take that route.

Quote:While I am not an RPer I could see a club setting as a turn off to RPing. I would suspect it leans toward the I goto to the club to drink, meet someone and take them home crowd with a little sprinkle of I like to dance at clubs.
Well, it's more or less confirmed that they're gonna let Primal Earth characters go to Praetoria. It's probably gonna go live the same time they'll add 20-50 content to the place. I think it was War Witch who said it. Not sure. So that'll just need some patience.
As for the club setting; yah, it'll be the same. But I don't think it's bad. I don't get why people have so many issues with "club settings". It's a club. People go there to drink, pick a petty fight, or try and hit on someone. That doesn't necessarily mean the quality of RP is 'bad' (whatever that means). It's just the context is what it's supposed to be. -
All Dominator ITF: 1:56
This ITF moved smooth at times and got rocky other times. A couple of us were vying for the squishiest Dom award but we managed to pull it out. There were alot of deaths
Mission 1 - No big surprises, we knew seperating was not a good idea. Throughout if was clear that if we weren't focused on the same group of targets we would unravel. This probalby explains the smooth and rocky times.
Mission 2 - The plan was mob and cyst at same time, but we never blew up a cyst before the mob was down. The ambushes would melt though.
Mission 3 - We worked our way up through the valley. Things went smoothly here. The computer mocked us for a moment, but we got the last laugh. Rommy and Requim were not bad as they remained statues.
Mission 4 - This is where the Rubber hit the road. Change rubber for Dominator. We were going to go left on the path. We cleared upto the top of the stairs and then someone said let's do towers. We "Did" a tower including a wipe. At that point we had enough Cims down that we needed the platform, so we skipped ahead took out the 5th and the platform Cims.
Several ideas were tossed out. We went with Dogpile first with let's confuse the healer nictus and make him our bud. We dogpiled to the hospital and modified the plan. The second time we almost managed to to pull the dog pile off. After that and one person getting skittish about not being able to complete, we went to the old faithful single target nictus attacks. We had the damage...... It just took 3 tries to get everyone on board that single target damage means no aoe, no hold, no immobloize, no fat finger mistakes. But we did it!
By the time we were ready for Rommy we had 18 Cims to go. We shoot Rommy one time to move him to the grass and.... he ran.... and ran.... and ran (Sorry Castle this is broke)... and ran... ran, so we moved and held him. Lucky for us it was right above where the ambushes would spawn. As an ambush would spawn, it would be confused and they beat each other down taking care of our 18 Cims.
In the end it was fun.
That leaves corruptor and stalker. -
All Brute ITF was a success at 1:04.
Surprisingly this was the hardest ITF to get formed to date. With a little coaxing we finally got 8 to man/woman up.
First Mission - We had to recognize we weren't 8 individual invicble characters. Once we designated a point brute everything went smooth.
Mission Two - Our AOE goodness made this a fast paced kill pretty much everything.
Misison Three - We did our best frog imatations jumping from General to General. Down to the comp and pulled the Gens.
Mission Four - Straight to the Platform, then we dog piled on Rommy, The team was tenacious, if one dropped the went to the hospital and sped back. Dropping Rommy the first time was comical, but we didn't wipe which was thanks to a few strong builds. After that we did the bridge and the towers to clean up the mess.
Friday is for the Dominators. The streak continues.. can they suceed... what about those corruptors .. and will it all fall on the stalkers to bring it home? Stay tuned! -
Here is what I came up with. Soft capped, slightly better haste, 8 KB protect instead of 12, the end recovery is a little lower.

Quote:You are incorrect, I did not take your priorities into any account. Your priorities in the game are of no concern to me. I merely pointed out the easy solution. I was pointing this out to anyone on the forums that had an interest in how to soft cap a BS/DA.You assume that getting a Gladiator's Armor 3% piece for that particular character is a priority for me.
It's not.
After respecing, I did some stress testing and overall the build is working well. Thanks again to Werner for posting his build as a contrast and comparison in build choices. I still have yet to figure out how to swap in the hetacombs and an AH without losing anything significant. On that note, To Werner: what would you consider as significant? -
Quote:It would be nice if there was a clear indicator in the mission text saying which mission alingment will increase. For now, I just run my own teams and solo these.Check this post, it might clear up things:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=3121266
Villain/Rogue/Hero/Vigilante alignment bars chart your overall progress towards an alignment.
Public Fame shows how many counting alignment points you have earned in the last 20 hours.
If you have earned 5 fame points you can't earn any more alignment points until at least one of the fame points fades away. Players interested in quickly changing to an alignment will resent being delayed 20 hours to correct the "wrong" alignment mission. -
With GR you can get that very easy by just doing your alignment missions. Yes it will take a little time, but it is not really that bad anymore.
-
I made some tweaks based upon your bulid plus put the power sets in a better order.
It is much closer in comparison now to your build Werner while managing to keep Disembowel and Headsplitter.

Thank you for posting your build. I am not sure if I would like to give up some of the heavy hitter attacks, but it does help identify means and methods to hit the soft cap on fear based.
-
It does help speed up the soloing for a defender, especially at lower level when your powers are not as robustly enhanced.
-
MA indeed is a good primary. I have had fun with my MA/SR stalker. My friend has a MA/SR scrapper as well and they also like the combo.
-
Quote:It really is quite simple. There is a vocal group that likes to bash empathy set with - he4l0r references, rocking the auras, pure heal spec and no secondary comments.Erm... quite apart from anything else, how does it make a jot of sense for anyone to be 'jealous' of a set that anyone can play? You don't have to unlock Empathy.
oh god I'm posting in a healer thread.
From the begining there were countless posts about not being able to get groups because everyone wanted an empathy defender because they could heal. Who did the defendes blame? They blamed the empathy defender not those that were asking.
That perception was the begining and lingers in the corners of the Defender forums. -
I was fiddling around with my build with the orignial purpose to put back slice and try out cloak of fear. Instead I wound up with a new build that soft caps and has some good haste, accuracy and to-hit on top of it.

All Kheld was a sucess at 2:06. This one of the hardest ones to do if not the hardest.
First Mission - slow and steady we did good though.
Second Mission - we killed 2 of the cysts and ambushes, then cleared the map and took down 7 of the 8.... I died sooo fast due to 3 amushes spawning on me. One of the two warshades cleaned up the cyst and we were off.
Third Mission - we pulled to the beach. We reversed pulled the valley and it went smooth. So smooth we were 19 cims short by the end of the mission. Rommy was easy Requim behaved and the computer was take down with no real problem
Fourth Mission - left path. We made our way to Rommy and did the single target nictus kill and flee to lose aggro bit. Rommy ran a little and triggered his ambush but we handled it very smoothly and he went down with no real problem. -
1:02 for our little herd of kitties. The scrapper ITF was fun. There were no shield scrappers. Believe it or not regen and dark armor were the majority!
First mission - we just marched up. The Nictus ambush slowed us down for a minute as we were all spread out.
Second Mission- we split into two team to see who could spawn more ambushes on the other group.
Third Mission - we leap frogged generals for sillyness. Then one of the lazy scrappers tped us to the computer. I had to change that and I went topside and ATTed everyone into the fray.
Fourth Mission - jumped straight to the platform. Destoryed everything. I tanked the nictus while the rest of the herd beat down rommy and his ambuses. Then to the bridge, then to the towers.
A good number of deaths but nice and easy paced.
So far all Kheld is a go for tomorrow!. -

I have been around since the begining. I have taken breaks due to failures in the game. I have come back and been pleasently surprised with changes. With regard to this Expansion, I feel it is vastly better than MA or COV. Why?
City of Villains - So many things to cause hassle to players were intentionally put in the game.
Mission Architect - the intentional allowing of the PL problem to persist and the poor implementation.
Going Rogue - They made it so people who goto Preatoria have to do the content. They made it so the mechanics to switch sides can not be exploited. The graphics upgrades and the new content.
All in all I think this game, despite its bad points in times, is 100 times better than it started. The devs have done a good job of learning and pushing forward.
