help me with morality missions

I'm finding hero/villian merits and morality a really futile grind - I must be doing them or something wrong. It feels like if I change characters all my progress towards a morality mission is lost ): The sfiner bits of the system I find very complicated though I think I know the basics; play 10 tip missions towards one alignment and I get a morality mission. After the morality mission I get hero/villain merit?

(Side track: Finding/making that teams for the doing morality missions seem harder than paper/radio PUG making. Is it true that unless you're willing to adopt the morality of the team, your progress goes backwards? I play off US peak times on virtue and seldom have trouble finding normal teamage)

My play time of late is limited to one or two missions a night, with some nights having no game time.

I tend to play a newbie alt in praetoria followed by an older character working towards getting a morality mission. I’m thinking I will have to give up the playing in praetoria if I want to change morality for my other characters ):

Do I have to persist with just one character to have any hope of changing – it really does feel like stagnant progress. It doesn’t seem enough to do the ten mission in a row with a character – seems it has to be within a timeframe.

In short: If it takes me over twenty nights to get 10 missions complete will I ever get there?

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Assuming it's not your first Morality Mission on that character, in which case you get Reward Merits (50 for Hero/Villain and, I hear, 30 for Vigilante/Rogue). Subsequent Morality Missions will give Heroes & Villains an alignment merit. No idea what, if anything, Rogues & Vigilantes get for theirs.

Given the amount of tip spam I see in level 20+ zones on Freedom, it can't be that hard to get a team...

Your progress doesn't go backwards - each alignment track is unaffected by your progress in another and whichever one is first to reach 10/10 is the alignment you get your Morality Mission for.

Never heard of alignment points wearing off or anything. Unless you mean you missed the significance of the Public Fame points? (Each Tip mission completion fills a Public Fame circle, which only clears after 20 hours. You can only carry 3 Tips at a time and regular Tips will refuse to drop if the number you have on-hand is equal to the number of clear Public Fame slots. When you have no empty Public Fame slots, doing a Tip will not give you an alignment point, but a Morality Mission can still drop and be run if you have 10/10 in an alignment)

Just need to have patience, look at it as long-term progression, and not worry so much. You'll get there, eventually.

Thanks!
I'm less in a rush, than wanting to make sure my time isnt being spent uselessly.

I have had people drop from my teams when they saw i wasnt doing the right (for them) tip missions. Its good to know you can build towards both.

I think I am probably confusing Public Fame with tip points too. Still confusing me a little. If I have 2 tip points towards villainry, and 1 circle of public fame left in each, I wont get more tip points until I get the public fame to 4? which shouldnt matter as if i run my tip missions, then I can get more... so why worry about fame circles?

Check this post, it might clear up things:

Villain/Rogue/Hero/Vigilante alignment bars chart your overall progress towards an alignment.

Public Fame shows how many counting alignment points you have earned in the last 20 hours.

If you have earned 5 fame points you can't earn any more alignment points until at least one of the fame points fades away. Players interested in quickly changing to an alignment will resent being delayed 20 hours to correct the "wrong" alignment mission.

It would be nice if there was a clear indicator in the mission text saying which mission alingment will increase. For now, I just run my own teams and solo these.

There is, at least on your own. Which, perhaps, is what you're referencing when you say, "run my own teams."

As for the OP, fame degrades but your progress does not...unless you enter a co-op zone. Perhaps you need to stay away from Pocket D, Cimerora, the RWZ, etc.?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

The thing that seems to confuse people is the idea that you WANT the fame points to fade away. They are blocks to getting more tip missions. It is too bad that the interface doesn't make that more clear.

When it says "You will be remembered for this deed for 10 more hours" or whatever it says, it sounds like that's a deadline to get something done. So many people have complained that they can't log off because they don't want to lose all of their progress.

This is inaccurate.

Edit:
Reason it is inaccurate is that the only thing that degrades the alignment bars (progress) is doing a morality mission (which resets all alignment bars).

Tip missions go into escrow if you go from a hero<->villain zones.

If you are a vigilante, the neutral zones will make the game think you are a hero. At this point the red side tips go into escrow. If you return to the red side zone before doing a morality mission, those tips come back.

If you are a rogue, the neutral zones will make the game think you are a villain. At this point the blue side tips go into escrow. If you return to the blue side zone before doing a morality mission, those tips come back.

You should not be losing Alignment Points for entering a co-op zone. However, I believe Tips you have not yet run (and those currently selected but not completed) might be lost.

The hardest part is realizing that the Public Fame does not mean your Alignment Points are degrading. Rather, you ability to earn Alignment is recovering. The bars next to your two possible Alignments (three if you are Vigilante/Rogue) show your progress and they should never go down.

It feels almost like cheating, but if you have a real problem with altitis, you might do what I'm doing. Pick a day, and log on to each of your characters. Street sweep until you get a tip (if you're 30 or above, you can just pick a 20-30 zone and beat up greys) and when you do, select it. Then Complete the mission.

If you're quick, or even take the time to save up a bunch of tips ahead of time, you can do a half dozen characters in one sitting. Then 3 days later, repeat the same again. After a month, you should be ready to switch.

Save the concentrated work for the characters that you want to switch by more than one Alignment, say Hero to Villain. You can probably get a half dozen more characters done in that same month.
