Some great insight here and interesting things to think about. Likely some truth to all the given points.
When I think to times that people DO rage and tempers flare.... it seems to be at points where failure is an option. If a random team runs... say Synapse... it's not a big deal for anyone to not carry their weight, because most of us could probably solo it anyway.
However, when a MoLRSF fails, or someone is in the green stufff when trying for the badge on Keyes... ooohhboy..... thats when it hits the fan.
So I'm going to say that its because much of the game is fairly easy, that there isn't that much raging. Theres really no pressure. Also, in a non-scientific survey done here on the forums - most people said the thing they like about this game is it is fairly easy, and easy to jump in, run something, then leave.
And yeah, failing stuff sucks! RAGE! -
Thank you very much guys! Fun run! Reichman falls again!

Quote:This is why many of us have opted to do Magisterium farms. If you keep the team to 12 people, and run in blasting judgement on the central mobs to accumulated iXP before the defeat counter starts, you can accumulate 25-27% iXP. Quit instead of defeating the AV's and repeat. In this fashion you can unlock hybrid in 4 runs at around 5-10 mins per run.So I opened up the hybrid slot on my main. It took 5 runs in all, about 2.5 hours playing times not including recruitment. After I had done this I worked that that I wanted this slot on 18 other characters.
This would mean that I would need to be involved in 90 Magisterium trials which means 45 hours-ish of grind.
With that in mind I decided there are far more interesting things to do with my time.
Have fun everybody and as always 'best of luck all'
In this fashion you'd more likely be facing 6 hrs-12hrs, depending on how long it takes to form teams. Realisticly how many BAF's did we have to run to unlock lore?
Anyway always sad to see our community suffer a loss. -
Can't speak for the rest of your system, but I have a duo-core laptop with 2 gigs of ram and the 945gm Intel video and it runs COH just fine.

I remember one of the devs saying that the way characters are designed, there is a "bubble" around them that prevents things like hugging. That they can not physically interact with others. As much as I would like the same thing, I think its unlikely and probabaly impossible.
What I would like to see is "useful" emotes. Like slapping the hostage upside the head to run faster. -
I'm certainly no expert....
but I happened to be in China last month and never saw the sun for the 15 days I was there. Travelling from Beijing to Shanghai, and various cities in between.... it was continual smog. I think what the picture may be showing is the miracle of sun breaking through the pollution.
A quick search of youtube videos of this "event" looks like a cloudy sky with the sun breaking though. Perhaps a spectacular event to a city that has not seen our life-giving sun for some time....... -
Quote:My solo tf experience is extremely limited - but i believe you are supposed to have at least 2 toons for it to keep active. I did manage to solo molrsf... until the last mission and the whole sf dropped me. I was told it was because I was the only one on the sf and they aren't meant to be run by one person - still though, i was able to run the first 4 missions......Well, this thread intrigued me so I went and made a single freebie account, made a character, went to mercy, and then started a 2nd instance with my ViP account, took one of my Incarnates to meet him, and teamed with him. Got him to lvl 18 in an hour just doing radios...
First time I ever did dual-instanced, so it had that newbie coolness factor, but it sure is clunky. Can't see why people want to do it it a lot.
Did get me to wondering though, about soloing TFs. If I get a TF started, padding with volunteers who then quit, and I have my free account as the one non-quitter, do I have to leave that Instance running, or can I end it, and as long as that Character doesn't actually quit the TF I can still run it solo?
I have a pretty high end machine but it still feels like it's pulling alot of juice when running two CoH instances so I'd rather not.
With multiple instances I take no chances and run everything on minimum. Theres also a command to use less graphics resources on inactive toons (/maxinactivefps 5) or something. Someone help me here! -
Quote:Theres 16 servers now, so 15 doesn't even allow for 1 channel on each server.I'm wondering Why you'd need more than that honestly? granted, I suppose not everybody uses the same chans for every toon, but still doesn't that clog up your chat window?
I know many people that play on 1 server and find 15 channels aren't enough.
There are channels for super groups, for the market, AE, roleplaying, anime, farming, speed task forces, itrials, all kinds of stuff game related and not.
They can clog up your chat window if you put them all in one tab, but you have the option of multiple tabs and sorting them.
I am all for more channels. -
Quote:Thank you very much for the tip! I am always open to suggestions. Unfortunately at this time I have no plans to spend money on anything outside of my main account. On the plus side - with my new team I have gone with hover - infinitely better than superspeed for a group on follow! My travel time has fractionated. If you were willing to buy some PPs on a few accounts, you could pick up the Team Transport Power. 30 min recharge would give you pretty much constant up time over eight accounts.
Quote:I am, and your explanation is mind blowing (at least for me). I really need to sit back and think on what you've said here. It sounds so uber-intelligent yet so utterly lonely. I don't know if I should team with you our just give you a hug.
More later (maybe).
Storm.... .. now I want an all storm defender team! -
Quote:After 8+ years of playing this game, just when I think I've seen everything...
It's definitely one person playing eight toons simultaneously. I watched them line up one by one until they were all put on auto-follow to the leader, and then off they ran, attacking NPCs in sync. I'm sure it was all done using free accounts but wow... Is it really that hard to find a team nowadays?!
An explaination if you are interested......
I began playing COH in 2007 and found I could not stop playing. I am generally lurking up to 20hrs a day...because I can! Over time I have found, yes, it takes longer than I like to form a team. So I branched out to having 100+ 50's across all the servers - with the ability to hop anywhere and run anything I see forming on my extensive list of Global Chat channels. Feel free to say hi anytime (and maybe we can run an LRSF, STF (or whatever its called), Kahn, ITF, LG, Eden - all my favorite content).
More recently we were given the ability to have free accounts which is awesome! Its just like playing 5 years ago when I first started - no invention enhancements, no incarnates..... I like it! (and now have some 32 free accounts with even more 50's on top of my singular VIP)
So, right, during early hours of the morning when it takes longer to form a task force than to actually run it, I have started setting up my own teams. With 4 game instances on my desktop and another 4 on my laptop. So far there is team "Hate Driven" on Defiant blueside who are all rad defenders, and team "Love Song" on Victory redside - all fire/ice blasters. The next group I'm thinking spine/fire or spine/dark scrappers on an yet undetermined server. I know the names aren'ts so terribly original, but its much easier to keep track of them by numbering them.
I am having a lot of fun with them and just updated mids for i23 in time to rip out some cool SO builds (ell oh ell). The irony of all of this, is that setting them up and moving them mission to mission takes a HELL-OF-A-LOT more time than to form a task force!!!! -
After my first genericizing.... I actually read the EULA. They pretty much covered everything to cover their PANCAKES. I remember one of the things mentioned was NO BODYPARTS! so "fist of fury" is technically a no no.
The new EULA is much shorter but very broad reaching. If someone complains because they are offended, or if any GM thinks you might be offensive.... you can be nerfed. You can sit and read it for yourself, but you have to realize that NCsoft owns the characters you create and reserve the right to do anything as they seem fit.
Sadly people seem to be very thin skinned and easily offended, so you should tread lightly with your names. -
great movies. i remember when all of them came out and can still sit and rewatch them......
and now.... bill and ted 3.... BEST idea or WORST idea ever?.........

Thumbs up!
I'm a big fan of the SSA's and this one does not disappoint. -

Quote:Then it sounds like a driver issue. ATI has never been known for great drivers, but there is this "safe" driver list updated by coh players....That would just launch the launcher itself in a different compatibility rather than the game, wouldn't it?
Google suggests Win7 64 bits coupled with ATI is likely to be the culprit in some form. Out of 18 problem reports I've checked so far, all of them had Win7 64 bits and an ATI card...

I don't think Windows 7 is your problem. However if you still wish to run in XP or Vista mode, right click the launcher icon, click "properties" and go to the "compatability" tab.

Michael Bay offered to do a remake of Romeo And Juliet as an AE mission. No idea what the story was about, but boy were there a lot of explosions.

Quote:A lot of people go for theme (an illusionist might take the phantoms for example).I've been told that the choice here is purely based on personal preference, but I'm wondering if certain pets have any slight advantages in certain attributes, like accuracy, or damage resistance, or such...
What Lore pets did you guys pick?
If you right click on the various lore pets you can see different buffs available to each set, AM, AB, Fortitude, heals.... they are quite different. More information here including powers and damage chart http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_Slot_Abilities
Personally, I've tried many different lore pets and found I like the raw damage of Cimerorans as opposed to buffs/debuffs. -
Watch for other threads, there seems to be something useful here you might want to try.......

Quote:Try running as administrator?I've been unable to load the game since yesterdays update. error message comes up as launcher starts to update. It says HTTP status 403 client does not have sufficient access rights to the requested server object. What is going on? and How can I fix this? Please & thanks
Check that COH has permissions in your firewall?
Are you playing at work or school or in a hotel? Firewall settings are often the problem.
Sounds like a port is blocked. -
Quote:One morning this week showed 16 people (not hidden) on LB. Perhaps we should be recruiting more of the newbies to LB because there were certainly more people than that on the server.Don't get me wrong, folks. I like Liberty - for the most part.
I'm not sure whether I'm noticing it more, or whether it's just recently bothering me more. Liberty during prime time is hard to beat. TFs or iTrials, the teams/leagues can be formed, no problem. And the skill levels are ranging from a very few horribly inexperienced players to a large number of characters that can solo just about anything the game can throw at them.
[72,000 word of ranting diatribe removed]
I don't want to make a fuss, I just want to know if there's anything that can be done to promote teaming in the daytime.
Tried to form a moonfire yesterday early afternoon - and only one person responded in a timely fashion.
It only takes 60 seconds to type a response "switching" or "ugh - I need to finish this big room before I can join"
I wanted to do citadel this morning, I couldn't even get enough people to pad it so I could solo it! That's just ridiculous!
Wake up earlier, Liberty!
Also....I know there are Moonfire lovers out there, but personally I find it boring and only do it for kills when I require the Atlas Medallion. -
When I was 5 years old (1978), my parents decided to take me to Columbia for a couple months, for a combo, friends wedding and vacation. It was a pretty poor decision in retrospect as Columbia was a pretty dangerous place at the time.
We were met with guerrillas that attacked and killed people we were with, gypsies that tried to kidnap me, and malaria. See I was bitten by a mosquito and very nearly died. I was saved by twice daily injections from a "horse needle" that was used by all of the local people and animals, and Superman #344. Even now I can not read it because it is in Spanish (and slightly crispy from 34 year old vomit), but the fantastical pictures of Superman and Dracula kept me going at a time when I thought all was lost.
I know this may sound crazy but believe me when I say I couldn't make this crap up.
