Don't get me wrong, folks. I like Liberty - for the most part.

I'm not sure whether I'm noticing it more, or whether it's just recently bothering me more. Liberty during prime time is hard to beat. TFs or iTrials, the teams/leagues can be formed, no problem. And the skill levels are ranging from a very few horribly inexperienced players to a large number of characters that can solo just about anything the game can throw at them.

I don't want to make a fuss, I just want to know if there's anything that can be done to promote teaming in the daytime.

Tried to form a moonfire yesterday early afternoon - and only one person responded in a timely fashion.

It only takes 60 seconds to type a response "switching" or "ugh - I need to finish this big room before I can join"

I wanted to do citadel this morning, I couldn't even get enough people to pad it so I could solo it! That's just ridiculous!

Wake up earlier, Liberty!

There is -- hire me at my current salary and benefits to play City of Heroes with you during normal working hours.

(Snarky, yes, but most of the people who play this game are out of school now, some of us for decades.)

Hey, I deleted my snark before I posted.

But, hey, all's fair, right?

What I left out was that there were plenty of people "on" - at least they appeared to be online and a member of the lb channel.

When a player who has at least a half decent rep for putting together good teams,(yes, that would be me) I would think that when someone is recruiting for a weekly, those that are on would be wanting to make progress in one of these areas:

XP -- it's 5 bars of xp bonus upon completion (unless you're 50 already)
incarnate progress - Notice of the well. This was Wednesday. It had only been the weekly for one day.

Accolade/badges - It's not common knowledge, but the first two missions either give you the defeat badges you need, or a very, very good start on them. Last time, I think I needed 11 vamps and 23 puppies to complete the badges. The two defeat badges are required for Atlas Medallion accolade.

I don't expect anyone to quit their day job. I do expect that players that are on would want to do the weekly tf with every character they have that doesn't have the Atlas medallion, and every character they have that hasn't gotten to 50+1 on their 50's.

And, additionally, every "poor" character that needs merits to fund their next alt should also be wanting to join in.

Now, there were about 70 players on at that time. Probably another 30 that were hiding. I'm sure some were on other servers and don't even have lb chat showing on their screens.

I can get that maybe 10% hate my guts, have me on ignore and never even saw my recruiting - but a lot of those names (on lb)I recognized from the iTrial circuit. Heck, even a half dozen were on my global list. But for whatever reason, they didn't want to do the weekly. And whatever the reason, I'd like to know what that reason is or what those reasons are.

One morning this week showed 16 people (not hidden) on LB. Perhaps we should be recruiting more of the newbies to LB because there were certainly more people than that on the server.

Also....I know there are Moonfire lovers out there, but personally I find it boring and only do it for kills when I require the Atlas Medallion.

That's the main reason I do moonfire as well. Since it is on the weekly circuit ever few months - I leave my lowbies in a limbo status until it's a weekly again. (unless the toon is just too much fun to sit idle.)

The new players you mention - many of them are f2p - and perhaps when the changes take effect with the next issue, things may go better for integrating them into the lb fold.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here...

...why is it any of your business what a person does with their time in game?

Now before you get overly offended understand this... maybe they are doing other things and just don't want to team, plain and simple.

I don't always feel like teaming or even socializing. But that shouldn't mean I have to answer every 'request' in LB or even justify why I won't want to do a weekly.

That's just my 2 influence and I hope you didn't get too offended by it.

+1 to pretty much everything Tax said...

While I am on sometimes during the day, I have absolutely zero interest in task forces (or teaming in general-) on that scale. I've just never been a fan of the "6 to 8 player team" thing and probably never will be, no matter who's forming the group... I may run one once in a blue moon just to get a particular badge title or costume unlock, but by and large I'll take solo/duoing or a big, multi-team league over that stuff any day.

So, no. If you toss a post out there on LB about forming a TF, 99% of the time I'm not going to reply to it, ask to join the team or even express any interest in it at all. It's just not my thing. Also, my play time isn't unlimited and to be completely frank about it, I'd rather spend what time I have doing what *I* enjoy most, not what someone else thinks is a more proper and more... what? socially-responsible? community-focused? team-oriented?... use of my time.

Absolutely no offense taken. (from tax's post either)
What it amounts to is I was trying to host my own pity party.
I learned some time ago that two things lead to disappointment
1. Unrealistic expectations
2. Unrealized expectations

Mine were both.

In short, I had a temper tantrum like a little kid.
So, my apologies to those I offended.

I think the biggest issue is that Liberty just doesn't have that big of a population anymore. When Exalted happened, 1/4 went to check that out. On top of that, many people play on multiple servers. I think the people that are still on Liberty(at least those few that we all like to team, do stuff with) during the day, tend to do their own thing. Whether its getting a toon to 50, farming for purps/inf, or just doing random missions. I guess it's become a pattern now that Liberty as a server wakes up about 4pmish on. Half the people I team with now play on bigger servers to get there toons where they want them. Whether for Accolades, or iTrials. Which in a way makes sense since you can T4 everything in a few days. BUT, then again, it's become a catch 22. People go abroad to get what they need, even if Liberty is still called home, and since they go abroad Liberty seems more barren. At the same time, people are weary of moving some toons back to Liberty for the fact that its now, barren. So I don't know. Maybe what T&A said about inviting more nubs to the LB channel would liven things up abit, then again it could just become a hassle.

As far as the question OP posted...I tend to go all out on a toon when i'm working on it. Get it to 50, get what i need on it cuz i like POWER on a toon lol. That being said, I have a hard time swapping to a toon that at that point in time I don't care to play while my mind is set on completing the task at hand. In that instance was doing a respec on a toon. BUT, then again, on freedumb/Champion/Virtue type servers, there are more people so when you call out for a TF or Trial because of the population size it's much easier to form something up very quickly.
Liberty seems to be more of a mature player server(as in age(in RL and in gaming terms)...not necessarily attitude), and in being such most of us are pretty well to do in game terms and don't really need community events like the freedumb, exalted and the like. Community events as in contests, sg activities etc. Because realistically a 50mil first prize for a costume contest just doesn't do much for us. We are essentially the "Lone Wolf Server" with the exception of things we need team mates for aka: TF's, iTrials, MSR's and Raids. But outside of that it really isn't a community driven server. Although the majority of us would bend over backward to help another out.

So I guess there will always be the good, the bad, and the ugly. How to fix it I have no idea, except that it would have to be a community wide change, just not 5 or 6 people doing stuff. The big question is...would we even want Liberty to become a Freedumb type server?
