  1. PM from _Castle_ summed up. Tanker Gauntlet is autohit as long as the power hits the target... EXCEPT if it hits an AV or a Giant Monster. Autohit Auras will ALWAYS have Gauntlet applied against =<EliteBoss mobs. Gauntlet will make a tohit roll against AV/GMs whenever the power itself hits. I hope this makes sense. It does to me at least.

This is how it is supposed to work. If this part is broken for you, bug it and document it so that we can get it fixed.

some of the people blaming it on the gauntlet fix are short sighted how can it be a gauntlet code fix .. if other scrappers and defenders have posted this in this thread and other threats/forums?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually there are two seperate issues getting mashed into one thread here.

    1. Mobs hitting the "Cut and Run" script WAAAAYY to often or early. This is what most people are writting about.

    2. Tanks unable to hold agro due to Taunts/Guantlet not working right. This seems to be do to some bad code lines that _Castle_ is already working on. I am hoping that once that is fixed, Tanks at least won't see this "Cut and Run" as often. I can count on one hand the number of times my Fire/Fire tank had anyone run away (Burn is not in my build). I also slot a Taunt into BA for just this reason. So having mobs run from me is totally new to I8.

Or a variation... Now that Gauntlet has a ToHit roll, it's allowing the 'I'm low on health and must flee' mob AI to kick in when there actually is a miss.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I stated in my post above... looking at the patch notes, the tohit check for Gauntlet should be happening ONLY on GM/AVs. Nothing in the patch notes state that Gauntlet requires a tohit check on Bosses or under.

Castle, can you clarify this? Should Gauntlet be making a tohit check against Minions,LTs and Bosses?
  4. I could be wrong here... but it sounds to me like the Gauntlet AV/GM changes is effecting everything now. My understanding of the Gauntlet change was that it only had those toHit rolls against AV/GMs. But it sounds like every time Gauntlet goes off it is trying to make the toHit roll, even against minions and LTs. How can we test this?
  5. As anyone tried removing the Beacon from their base, then re-adding it? It might just need that little kick.

Yes it clears up things Manticore, thank you. Now throw in some angry potatoes of legend from Idaho and we are set.

You had to bring up the angry potatoes of legend... (shudder) I had blocked them out of my mind for all these years... they are NOT legend and you just HAD to remind me.
  8. Name: Sgt. Fuego
    Powers: Fire/Fire (Science)
Origin: Sgt. Fuego was part of a secret test program into portals and alternate dimensions. During the course of the research, the scientists opened a portal to a alternate plane of reality filled with fire. Using portal technology they managed to channel the fire from this plane through an armored suit. It was during a basic run through test that the Rikti attacked destroying the lab. Sgt. Fuego was wearing the suit as part of a test, when the attack occured. He was able to repulse the Rikti at the lab but was unable to save the lab or its scientists. All traces of his participation in the experiment were destroyed freeing Fuego to use the suit to battle evil. But someday, the government may want the suit back.
  9. I buy my main Enhancements from the stores, but use drops to combine them up when they start going bad. The problem is that with SO's, you can only get them from fighting the right type of bad guy. If you are with a team that is running everyones missions, you might not do any missions with your origin type the entire night if you aren't on long. And forcing people to do your missions because you need to upgrade some enhancements seems selfish.

Now that is what we're talking about with the perception problem. With tar patch, my dark defender can up total team damage by 30%, and, in long battles, by 60% with stacked tar patches. Do the math: the increase in damage by my 1 defender will be like adding 2 or 3 blasters if you're running an eight person team. And my DDD will be doing some other nutty things.

The only defender that can't increase damage is FF.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And this is pretty much what I was getting at... past a certain level (call it 40+), certain AT's will be able to step in and do what you normaly kept those other AT's around for. Everyone is useful higher up, we just no longer have to rely on looking for one type of AT anymore when someone else may do just fine.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
You know, I don't really think pets are as much the problem. It's that the controller secondaries are almost as powerful as defender primaries once they have access to all the powers.
The largest benefit a defender has is that they get the powers earlier, but come level 40, a controller has all the same powers, fully slotted if they want, and almost as effective. There is a difference but it's just not enough to make a large difference most of the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The only problem I have with this statement is that we focus on one AT and compare it to another and make statements like this. When the truth is that at high level all AT's start to overlap and or prove they can do anothers job almost as good or better then the other. Point in case, with a good high level scrapper you don't always need a tank. With a good high level tank, you don't always need a controller. Wtih a good high level controller, you don't always need a Defender. With a good high level Defender, you don't always need a Blaster. The point being that at high level, Each AT brings to the table something that the others do just maybe not quite so good. The devs can't look at the 40+ game only when making choices.. nor the 32+ game for controllers with pets... nor the 15+ game. They have to look at everything. Early on all AT's differ, but high levels we are all the same to some degree. Not much they can or should do about that.

    Superhero quiz

18-21.. not bad. Glad that at least I got Capt. America. Would have kicked myself for missing that one.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

That's not exactly true. When you turn on CJ, you get "jump control". Compare CJ and hurdle. With hurdle you jump higher, but go almost straight up, even if you try to move forward (or left or right). If you turn on CJ, when you jump, your movement keys have a noticable effect on your landing position. If you have CJ and Hurdle (maybe even just CJ), you can cover distance more quickly than with sprint. (I've seen races done this way...) Is it faster than (unslotted) fly? I don't know. It's certainly faster than hover (not that that's suprising).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am not sure about the control issue because of the way I use Hurdle, but I do know that I have some control over direction and I certainly have forward travel. In door missions, I use Hurdle to quickly catch up to those with sprint and SS on. I tap the spacebar in missions and hit forward to do a running longjump and catch up. It is as fast as sprint and maybe even faster. I don't have CJ so I know it is not part of it.
  15. There has been lots of talk of letting people remove leaders and such that are inactive. But if both the leaders and the Creator are inactive, then what do you do? I would like to see a vote system in place. Where the members of the SG are asked upon signing in to vote out an inactive member or vote in an active one. This can apply to everyone, not just leaders and creators. This way the members themselves can vote out inactive people or at least vote someone else into a leadership position. Set a percentage level for approval... say 51% of members approve then it takes effect. Prevents abuse because no one person can kick out a leader or creator, and no one person can assume control... without the approval of most of the active members.
