    psi is broken

PvP is broken and is in need of repair.

Lets start small; remove HD, TS , repair shield resistance. Global resistance against all damage types is LAZY.

Remind us why Blasters used to be called Glass Canons.

Then lets talk about repairing Psi.

    cheers,

    Virtue Or VIP

I hardly ever run into members of the VU channel as I'm already a member of some really friendly channels.

Compared to VU channel members I'm sure the F2P people will be relatively harmless. so I think I'm pretty safe staying here on Virtue. d;D

You know for all our differences in the PvP community we can all agree on three things; No one likes Je_Saist, PvP is fubared and Posi's post was so hypocritcal it's endearing.

    psi is broken

I wouldn't say it's broken. I'd say it's the most popular because of the way it functions (delayed DOTDPS). Besides I'm sure if it were broken the devs would come out with an immediate fix, I mean look how quickly they fix AE. d;D

Okay, obviously, if I'm posting in this thread, I'm here to rain on your little parade.

The fact is, from the time that PvP was added to the game in May 2005's Issue Number 4: Colosseum, to the so called "PvP Disaster" that was Issue 13 in December 2008, the Player-Versus-Player population never rose above single digit percentages.

One of the developers went so far as to once say that the Old-Hollows map, the pre-issue 12 version, averaged more player traffic... that is the number of unique players entering the zone... for each server... than all of the PvP open-area zones and arenas combined.

The simple facts are these: The PvP player population in City of Heroes was never large enough to justify the resources that were spent to develop Issue 4. The PvP player population has never been a large, or profitable, part of the player-base. NCSoft nor Paragon Studios have any financial incentive to focus on PvP development for this game, City Of Heroes.

Now, as far as I am aware, NCSoft's official policy is that they would like to drive PvP-oriented gamers to their Aion and Guild Wars franchises, which have been successful in attracting a wide-range of Player-versus-Player enthusiasts.

My suspicion is that unless NCSoft has a fundamental shift in policy; for example an overwhelming financial incentive; to fund the development of player-versus-player content for City of Heroes, it is very likely that Player-versus-player development is effectively halted.

Now, I get what you are trying to accomplish here.

If you think that you are going to be successful in rallying other Player-versus-Player enthusiasts against Matt "Positron" Miller for a deliberate out-of-context quote that is framed to make a non-existent player faction seem more important than it was ever was...

    You are not.
Once again you've missed the context of the post.

Je_Saist is like the Bizarro Arcana..it's hilarious.

Don't come in here and expect to get away with BSing the PVP community Je_Saist because unlike the rest of the community we will call you on your bull ****. It's a lesson the Devs have learned.
  7. What is hilarious is even with powers like Rebirth and Barrier, people are still getting farmed horribly.

I don't see the problem with the new incarnate powers other than the fact I'm just too lazy to get them.

PvP is dead. PvP is dead because the developers don't feel there is enough of an incentive to repair it.

What was broken back then remains broken now, so the solutions laid out by some of the communities smarter players that could and would repair PvP are still valid.

The caveat: The developers don't have enough incentive to care.

  10. What a sad time to be a Batman fan. They don't know how to finish the current story so instead are rebooting the entire franchise.

Also, isn't it against forum rules to talk about DC now?
  11. Considering whether I should renew my sub. Have they repaired what they did to the game with i13 yet?

There are no plans to make changes. As past developers have said "there just isn't enough interest in PvP to warrant the time it would take to fix PvP."

It's a bit insulting that they would send a mod in here to feign interest when there are pages, upon pages of discussions about this very topic, stickied at the very top of the PvP Question and Build section of these threads...

I will be welcoming our EU brothers and sisters with many blanket statements.

As for there being new hope for PvP: as far as I remember the i13 rules are still in effect. A merger won't change that.

We can hope all we want. Hoping however won't lead to developer action and I sincerely doubt we can expect ANY developer action on PvP in the near or distant future.

Here's a great website you should check out if you're still clinging to hope... www.moveon.org

the single most significant aspect of PvP pre-i13 was that it wasn't PvP after i13...

    These questions are insulting.

hate to tell you hun but we aren't prei13 anymore and most that understood PvP and were good at PvP... left.

My problem isn't that I know nothing. It's that I know enough not to care about this games PvP.

The devs don't care. You should take a tip. d;D

Trust me I know. I'm the worst pvper on virtue and most likely the entire game.

Every small number team event turns into the battle of the blue bar. If I'm not mistaken you fielded a 2 therm team in a 2v2 event. The 3-6v3-6 league turned into the double therm league. This does not equate skill or the lack of skill elsewhere.
If you're having trouble keeping your endurance up against 2 therms on an Emp or other buffer, you're doing something horrendously wrong.

There's no such thing as skill in this game. It's about build and it has always been about build. Words like skill and honor just help dumb people go to sleep at night.

    Hi tech! <3
  21. Freedom is about the only server that has tried to keep interest in PvP up in the face of the devs stating quite frankly that PvP isn't worth their time to look at.

    Why are you coming back?

This would encourage meeting engagements where combat would happen when there was a high density of players, and buffs worked better when used during combat and their activation costs would have to be paid, rather than away from combat and essentially eliminated. It better balanced stand and fight as a legitimate tactic to scatter and spike, which opened the door to reexamining tankers in teamed PvP rather than attempting to balance everyone around tanker survivability generically.

That would have either taken additional tech or a lot of extra work to redo the buffs for this kind of effect. I was told that would be impractical to attempt. I will now stand here and whistle to myself, because that's the extent of what I'm currently allowed to say about the subject.
Running, Evading, Kiting, are as much legitimate tactics as engagement. Forcing people to engage in combat was a bad idea to begin with.

Remove TS, Scale back DR and Mez entity flags and give us back our slow effects.

What made this game great was that it played more like a FPS than your traditional MMO.

With that said I am all for buff degradation if done correctly. It makes sense. HD makes absolutely no sense.

No one wants your opinion on anything regarding the league or requiring common sense, because to be honest, you're an idiot. Apparently you're under the impression that someone listens to you and values your opinion. Fortunately, that's not the case. Go back to RV.

Word does need to be spread about this so we can avoid postponing the draft unless we absolutely need to. Looks like we'll have to, though.
I'll keep promoting in my own way but you really need to stop flirting with me on forums. d;D

and those people in RV that you like to think you are above... those are the people you need to attract.

People like Chris Mac and Con got me started in KB because they make it fun.

People like you push people away. Think about that.
