  1. I found when building my Tri-Form I wasn't just looking at 'how many slots will this use' but also 'how much use will i get out of this'

From how Ive played so far I am mostly staying in Nova form, switching to dwarf to help manage a bit of agro or there is an enemy that tends to hit harder than normal.

So I think taking a lot of the general attacks/shields won't get a lot of use so are skippable. This would be different if I was going either human or dual-form.

The powers I am taking are the buffs/heals (sunless mire, stygian circle, stygian return, eclipse), control powers (gravimetric snare, gravity well, gravitic emination), utility powers (dark extraction, shadow cloak, nebulous form, starless step) and some of the harder hitting attacks (unchain essence, quasar).

This leaves a lot of power choices where I will either choose a WS power which I won't use or choose a pool power where I can slot a proc to enhance my performance in Nova/Dwarf form. In my case this is hasten, super speed (for ghosting with shadow cloak and travel - nova fly is slow and im just no good with teleport), the leadership powers and combat jumping.

I think from your play style Enigma you may be right to take more human attacks as, like you say, you stay in human form more where I don't at the moment.

I guess thats the joy of the EATs that there are so many different ways to play them. My Peacebringer for example is a Dual-Form Human/Dwarf so I have picked up the human melee attacks to help augment his Dwarf ones.

Edit - I just also wanted to say I am getting 4 LotG in my build, two in leadership, one in combat jumping and one in shadow cloak.

    Its Defiants turn tomorrow!
  3. At least they are going to be present on the EU Test server for a whole evening soon

Edit - This Wednesday in fact (28th April)

I think they will get their own unique pool of powers for the crossed APP/PPP. Mainly because if you did matching where Dominators would get the Controllers APP they could get Power Boost twice and the Dev's won't let a toon get the same power twice. And Corruptors couldn't get Blasters because they could potentially get Snow Storm twice.
  5. I actually quite liked reading that - made me giggle in a couple of places. Sure I would have liked a bit more info on a couple of subjects and a couple of the chosen questions seem stupid (when is I17 coming, please it was announced around the same time as the Q&A!) but we are also getting the 6th b'day meet and great on the test server soon. So you never know they may come back with answers to some of the questions they didn't (or couldn't) answer this time around.
  6. Thanks for the great advice everyone - I will go back to my build and make some changes.

Think I will drop essence drain and bring forward Gravity Well and will drop the build up proc and look at either moving that slot or slotting something else.

My reason for going leadership rather than the stealth pool was because of Vengence because it can provide a significant defence boost if somebody does happen to faceplant. And I still will be able to slot 4 LofG +recharges in total (Maneuvers, Shadow Cloak, Vengence and I am going to take Combat Jumping).

And with dropping Essence Drain I could fit in another power to take a fifth if needed.

    This!

Ive rolled both toons that are quite common (BS/Shield scrapper, Electric/Shield tank, Bots/Traps MM) but also rolled some toons which aren't (Fire/Fire tank, Grav/Storm 'troller, Mind/TA 'troller, Ice/Stone tank).

I play around with power combos on Mid's and if something looks fun and I have an idea for a concept I will give it a go. If I get bored playing it then I will shelve it (occasionally delete it).

Avoiding something because its either popular (or unpopular) is pointless in my opinion.

Edit - I love the word Sheeple btw

For which AT? If you mean corruptors that wouldn't work because it overlaps with the Manipulation sets to much. Also some of the Soul Mastery powers are copies of Ghost Widow's moves which wouldn't work for an APP.

The set looks a lot like what I'd so for Dark Control except for Black Hole and Cloak of Fear. Black Hole and its ilk are pretty terrible powers. Unless you're specifically looking to put in an easily skippable power, it would probably do better with some kind of AoE debuff. For Cloak of Fear, the only way I could see that fitting in the set in a balanced manner is if the chance to cause the fear were 30% (the same as the confuse in Arctic Air), though, at that point it stops being a Cloak of Fear and more a Cloak of tohit debuff. If we're aiming to use existing powers, Chill of the Night might work: a little bit of damage and a decent sized tohit debuff.

For the pet, personally, I'd rather the set didn't just have recolored Fire Imps. I've always thought that it would be very interesting for Dark Control to have some huge, lumbering Shadow Beast that runs into melee and lets loose.

    [B]

The biggest problems I see here are Dark Enforcement, Oppressive Gloom, and Dark Servant. Dark Enforcement seems a bit problematic because it's hard to figure out what should be put into the set in exchange for the AoE mez/debuff power without making the set lose its flavor or become too powerful. You might want to think about adding some kind of additional patch that has a chance to stun or fear while debuffing tohit, something like a Rain of Shadow (recolored Rain of Fire). Oppressive Gloom threatens to make the entire set a bit too strong, where I'm concerned. Even if it got the Choking Cloud treatment (which isn't reduced mag but rather partitioned mags with separate chances to activate on a hit with a slow activation period), I could still see the ability to stack up that much stun to be a bit too powerful. This could similarly be a decent spot for the Rain of Shadows I suggested, and some kind of -per/-tohit AoE power like Flash Arrow or Smoke could take the lower level spot.

The biggest problem, however, is the Dark Servant. There isn't any existing precedent, and I doubt there will ever be, for a Controller to get an additional pet from their secondary. Even if it used the Mastermind version of the power, you're still combining a mezing pet with a mez primary. I could see some kind of dark debuff nuke along the same lines as EMP arrow or Liquefy, but I really don't think a pet would work with the AT.
First apologies for the spelling mistakes! And thank you for the great feedback.

When I thought about Black Hole in the control I was comparing it what Gravity had in terms of the AoE phase where as the support powersets only have single target. I guess Black Hole could be changed to ST for controllers Miasma. I wasn't particularly looking at skippable powers etc I was just looking at what would go in where in terms of comparison to other sets. And I like your Chill of the Night suggestion.

And you are right about Oppresive Gloom, I think it could be to powerful. I like your suggestions. Another idea I had (but didn't include as I didn't want to invent to many powers) was a Thunder Clap clone based around the idea of a one off Oppresive Gloom.

And yes - Dark Servant is way to powerful even with reduced values and increased recharge.

I like your sets. My only thought are around Aim and Build Up. Generally Dark sets don't get build up anywhere in place of soul drain. The only exception was Stalkers but that is a stalker thing as their Dual Blade gets build up to instead of Albeiting Strike.
  9. Ok - so ive spent the last couple of hours going over manipulation sets and blaster sets this is what I have come up with Dark Blast and Dark Manipulation for Blasters

    DARK BLAST for Blasters
1 - Dark Blast: Same as the Dark Blast Sets
1 -Gloom: Same as the Dark Blast Sets
2 - Torrent: Same as the Dark Blast Sets
6 - Dark Pit: Same as the Dark Blast Sets
8 - Dark Obliteration: As per Soul Mastery(Brute) power, Ranged AoE
12 - Moonbeam: Same as ther Dark Blast Sets
18 - Petrifying Gaze: As per Dark Miasma Set
26 - Life Drain: Same as the Dark Blast Sets
32 - Blackstar: Same as the Dark Blast Sets

    DARK MANIPULATION
1 - Dark Tenticle: As per power I created for Dark Control
2 - Shadow Punch: As per Dark Melee
4 - Night Fall: Same as the Dark Blast Sets
10 - Tenebrous Tenticles: Same as the Dark Blast Sets
16 - Cloak of Darkness: As per Dark Amour
20 - Dark Consumption: As per Dark Melee
28 - Soul Drain: As per Dark Melee
35 - Oppresive Gloom: As per Dark Armour
38 - Midnight Grasp: As per Dark Melee

    DARKNESS MASTERY - Blaster
41 - Touch of Fear: As per Dark Melee
41 - Dark Petrification: As per power I created for Dark Control
44 - Dark Embrace: As per Dark Armour
44 - Darkest Night: As per Dark Miasma
47 - Soul Transfer: As per Dark Armour

I think the only thing left that does have a full dark set is an APP for tanks but you can just copy the scrapper one for that!!!!!

I haven't - just after having a full spread of powers from all the Control sets, the Assault sets, the APP/PPP sets and Dark sets all laid out and then trying to mix and match into the ones above my brain just couldn't cope with two more powersets! Ive got the information saved so will try and do something similar for them.

They could always do it when it shows on the satellite channel (is it Dave or Gold?), but then again there are a lot of people with no interest in Super Heroes that watch Dr Who.

I hadn't thought of that either. I was going to slot the Chance of Hold Proc and one of the damage Procs in my Grav/Storm and keep the Knockdown Proc for Fireball. I guess with some Frakenslotting you could probably get all three in there for lots of fun!
  14. I was reading this thread about whether controllers will ever get Dark Miasma. I found it really interesting to read the reason for why it hasn't been done yet. Picking up on the argument about having a limited pool to pick Dark powers from to avoid overlap I decided to have a look at what I could come up with comparing what powers are already in the existing dark sets (including APPs and PPPs) and how the assault, control and support sets are put together. Ive kept to a minimum the creating of powers but may have tweaked ones already in game. This is what I have come up with:

    Dark Control
1 - Dark Tenticle: A clone of Tenebrous Tenticles with controller values and single target.
1 - Dark Petrification: A clone of Petrifying Gaze with added damage and controller values
2 - Tenebrous Tenticles: A clone of Tenebrous Tenticles with controller values
6 - Dark Pit: A clone of the dark blast version except with Mag 3, 90s recharge, 15s duration (controller values), compared to Mag 2, 60s recharge, 8-11s rechage ('fender, corruptor)
8 - Fearsome Stair: A clone of Fearsome Stair with Terrify values, however damage removed and -ToHit kept
12 - Black Hole: A clone of Black Hole with similar values to Dimension Shift
18 - Petrifying Glare: A clone of Petrifying Gaze except it is a cone and has 240s recharge, 15s duration (same as other controller AoE holds)
26 - Cloak of Fear: A clone of Cloak of Fear but with End, Control and Debuff values similar to Artic Air. Alternitively this could be changed to something more unique and new to Dark Control
32 - Dark Imps: Suggested Power, Would be clones similar to those that accompany Black Swan (Minor Shadow)

    Dark Miasma for Controllers
1 - Twilight Grasp: The same with controller modifiers
2 - Tar Patch: The same with controller modifiers
4 - Darkest Night: The same with controller modifiers
10 - Howling Twilight: The same with controller modifiers for debuffs, keep Defender/Corruptor values for Stun and longer recharge
16 - Shadow Fall: The same with controller modifiers
20 - ??Dark Enforcement: Suggested Power, Ally power granting +Res to Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, Confuse and Negative energy. Im very unsure of this power myself
28 - Petrifying Gaze: The same with controller modifiers
35 - Oppresive Gloom:The same with controller modifiers but with a lower magnitude similar to how Choking Cloud works and higher HP cost.
38 - Dark Servant: The same but with reduced debuffs, heals and control duration with Mastermind length recharge

    Dark Assault for Dominators
These attacks would be using Dominator modifiers
1 - Dark Blast: As per Dark Blast Set
2 - Smite: As per Dark Melee Set
4 - Shadow Maul: As per Dark Melee Set
10 - Night Fall: As per Dark Blast Set
16 - Power Boost: Went Power Boost as Dominators get Dark Consumption in Soul Mastery and Stalkers are the only ones that got Build Up in their Dark Set
20 - Moonbeam: As per Dark Blast Set
28 - Siphon Life: As per Dark Melee Set
35 - Death Shroud: As per Dark Armour Set, possibly swap this with Oppresive Gloom?
38 - Midnight Grasp: As per Dark Melee set

Dark Mastery for Controllers (APP Pool)
These would be using Controller modifiers
41 - Gloom: As per Dark Blast
41 - Night Fall: As per Dark Blast
44 - Dark Embrace: As per Dark Armour (similar to other APP/PPP pools version)
44 - Siphon Life: As per Dark Melee
47 - Soul Transfer: As per Dark Armour (similar to Defender version)

So let me know what you think and any suggestions/modifications
  15. I didn't take my Ally Rez on my Rad/Dark 'fender until about lvl 30 and in the lvls before that I never had anyone complain I didn't have it.

It was just the case there were powers which I would get a lot more use out of before that point and would increase my effectiveness in the team overall.
  16. As for its effectiveness Im not sure, Ive not actually used it myself that much but going from the description on Wiki:

    Quote:
In addition, when the power the enhancement is slotted in is used, the user is granted up to five Large Status Resistance Bonuses of indefinite duration. These act as set bonuses, buffing resistance to six status effects (hold, immobilize, stun, sleep, confuse, and terrorize) by 5.0% each. Up to five Large Status Resistance Bonuses can be stacked, for a total of 25.0% status protection, which will reduce mez durations to 80% (1 / (1 + 0.25)).

If slotted in a click power, one bonus will stack per use. If slotted in a toggle power, one bonus will be granted upon activation, and another bonus per ten seconds of use thereafter. If slotted in a passive, one bonus will stack every ten seconds, except when defeated.

Once granted, Large Status Resistance Bonuses remain on, even if the power that generated them is not active. Exemplaring below the level of the bonus will suppress it. The bonuses are lost when bonuses are reset (changing zones or logging out), but will be granted again normally.
If you have it in a power that you will run for a decent period it is possible to have reduce mez durations by 80% all the time. Sounds quite good to me, but maybe someone with more experience will be able to pass on some more 'live' experience on it.
  17. Hi everyone

Im working on a build for the Tri-Form Warshade I am leveling (just hit lvl 22!) and had some questions which I was hoping those with more experience with Warshades could answer:
    * Is Essence Drain worth it. I got it at 18 as at that point I had no heal what-so-ever so thought it would be useful. But now I have my Dwarf and Stygian Circle will is it worth dropping because I have found dropping to human to use it not very effective.
    * How much endurance reduction is worth slotting in the Nova and Dwarf forms?
    * Is it worth slotting the Gaussian's Build Up proc in Nova, and if so what lvl is it worth it slotting it?
    * I am going to take the Leadership pool so I can slot two LotG: +recharge and a Rectified Recticle: +Perception. Plus Vengence is always useful. Is this a good idea?

    Thanks in advance!

    You can slot this:

    Aegis:Psionic/Status Resistance

For status resistance, rather than protection.

Remember if you do go phase shift you either need to pick to powers which are poor duplicates of powers you get from Illusion (Stealth/Invisibility and/or Grant Invisibility).

  22. Hi everyone

Im just wondering if it is just me or has anyone experienced their macros losing commands out of them. I recently wrote the following macros:
    /macro Nova "goto_tray 5$$powexec_name Dark Nova"
    /macro Dwarf "goto_tray 6$$powexec_name Black Dwarf"
    /macro Human "goto_tray 1$$powexec_toggleoff Dark Nova$$powexec_toggleoff Black Dwarf"

They were working fine and then I zoned into a mission and they suddenly stopped working properly. When I checked the macros only the goto_tray part was remaining.

Ive bugged it but wondering if this is a known bug or if anyone else has experienced it.

    Thanks
