Pretty hard to do a blockbuster based around that I suppose.
Too true. I love reading some HPL stories, but they don't have the kind of subjects that appeal to everyone. The other downside is horror movies these days have gutted budgets compared other genres unless the film gets whittled down to a PG-13 to bring in bigger crowds. AT the Mountains is probably one of the easier to adapt HPL stories, I was disappointed that it got cancelled. I'd also love to see a new Herbert West: Reanimator movie and a version of the Case of Charles Dexter Ward.
  2. There was this article last year.

It speculated that Marvel was toying with introducing the next wave of character via short features that ran before the main feature. I hope they pursue this, it would be a great way to test the water with lesser known/ bigger risk characters before sinking the budget on a full feature. The list in the article is great, especially Dr Strange and Black Panther, I also think this would world build in a way not seen in films in a long time, if ever. I remember Disney doing this with Honey I shrunk the Kids by including a short about Roger Rabbit. I was more excited about the short than the feature.

I also never thought about them bringing out some of the Thunderbolts roster in the films, Songbird would be interesting to see on the big screen.

    10 Worst X-Men?

I don't know about massive piles of suck, but to me the worst handled (developed) X-People were:

    Havok
    Polaris
    Chamber
    Cipher
    Magik
    Wolfsbane
    Banshee
    Thunderbird
    Sunfire
    Iceman
    Angel

Some have had their moments, and some great stories that make the lack of development even worse. Iceman and Angel in particular should be far more developed as characters. Banshee was frickin Interpol before he was a thief or an X-Man, he has a great sibling rivalry, but he was never much more than a background player. Chamber had such an interesting concept, I have no clue wtf he's supposed to be now, clone of Apocalypse or something? All these characters have so much potential, though few of them are now in weird spots to be developed more.

    Snipe Hunting?

If they did exactly what they did with AS I'd be happy. Find a way to increase damage from the full wind up interruptible version, and have a version that loses the interrupt at the expense of damage. Looking forward to any changes they might make to them, as of now I take them for flavor and taking out annoying minions like Raider Engineers, Sappers etc quickly.
  7. The fight against the Shadow Simulacrum is great, maybe my favorite boss encounter in the game, and one that is different every time I've run it. Sometimes we stomp them, sometimes they stomp us and we have to rethink our target priorities. I wish they'd use the doppelganger tech more on arcs.
  8. I like these ideas. Especially the reworking of the Presence pool. The idea of Flurry adding stun is simple and works well within the theme of the power. Whirlwind still looks like a skip power, what if instead of KB it would impose a hold with Scirroco's tornado hold animation, the hold would be short duration but could be reapplied the longer you wait out Whirlwind's timer. It would pretty much work to turn a battle's tide, but with a cost, since the character using it would be unable to aid in any other way. Maybe when the small hold wears off, chance for mag 2 stun?

All in all, I like the ideas.

    10 Worst X-Men?

I didn't like Cyclops until Morrison got hold of him. He made him a bit more multifaceted without actually turning him into the bad boy. Then he stagnated again until House of M and Deadly Genesis. Ever since then I think he's been one of the most intriguing characters at Marvel, able to manipulate public opinion, utilizing brilliant tactics against foes, especially Norman Osborn during Dark Reign, showing the kind of teeth Xavier never had without resorting to Magneto's rule the flatscans ideas, and showing a knowledge of all his X-Men and how to best use their gifts that no team leader had before with the exception of maybe Captain America.

Unfortunately it seems without Fraction writing him he's lost some of his oomph, and this whole Phoenix Five thing in the AvX crossover seems to be leading to his becoming some sort of villain, although not the mustache twirling kind. There's a lot of talent in the crossover, so it may go another way, but we'll see.
  10. You know, I don't see much Cosmic about it. It's not a bad idea for a set though, but I don't really think unique enough to stand on its own for development. I did like the idea of knockdown over knockback. It seems anything Cosmic about it would be almost solely defined by the f/x for this particular listing of powers.

One thing I did like was the idea of a gravity bomb. It got me wondering if the devs could work that mechanic into the game, reverse KB could have many interesting applications in the game.

Summoning a meteor has a certain appeal too.

To me, the most cosmic characters I can think of didn't really fit any specific blast type AT. Silver Surfer could just as easily manipulate energy as shoot it. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) is almost like a long range melee fighter. Quasar, same as the Lanterns. Nova, who knows, he just seems to be a human rocket.

Maybe some kind of Cosmic/Celestial AT would fit these and more powers more nicely. Something that could include Cosmic themed melee and control without the shapeshifting mechanics of the Khelds. maybe something witha bigger focus on new mechanics: reverse knockback, maybe more creative uses for teleport like teleporting melee attacks, constructs, antigrav holds. I'm sure others here can think of other unique mechanics that really encompass cosmic power.

I'm not sure I can even agree with their reasoning that he had the "worst" power of the five original X-Men.)
Yeah, his name was Dummy. A Grant Morrison creation I think made solely to kill off. I didn't count him or any of the Milligan created mutants when he was writing X-Force and X-Statix, otherwise I would have included El Guapo, who had a living skateboard that flew and beat him like a jealous husband. It seems there came a point when any ridiculous power would end up on a mutant and slapped into and X-book.

Of course the weirdness is what made X-Statix or Morrison's run on X-Men memorable.

Well, Newsarama's lists have never seemed to be well thought out or researched. Beast, Cipher and Shatterstar all became better with time and the right writers. Though Shatterstar has the Liefield stigma, Peter David has made him into something interesting.

    10 Worst X-Men?

Ha! I was just about to post this same topic, and I disagree.

-Callisto, never a full X-Man, just an honorary/ally, and those tentacle arms lasted what, 3-4 appearances?
-Beast and Cypher? Beast needs no defending, one of the best Mavel characters in general. Cypher written correctly is fascinating, his power was best shown in the Necrosha crossover.
-Skin... maybe, he had potential but I feel like it was wasted.
The rest I can pretty much agree on, and the number one was no contest, although he wasn't an X-Man until Utopia, at which point all unused mutants became X-Men for some reason.

My 10 (special spot for Maggot) worst X-People (and I'll use just characters from the X-teams) in no particular order

    Ink
    Bling!
    Rusty Collins aka Firefist
    Bedlam
    Skids
    Mondo
    Random
    Omerta
    Lifeguard
    Stacy X

Wow, that's 10 and I didn't even get to putting Maggot and Joseph. Ah well.
  14. I'd settle for a sort of hoverbike.

    These.

Why can't my villains say, break into Aeon's labs and smack him around steal some tech and leave after trashing his little part of Cap. Or how about break into Portal Corp?

Randomizing the existing Mayhem/Safeguards, a brilliant way to get around lack of Oro of course the early maps would need new versions with cap level enemies.

You want to BE a dog hero, I think?
  17. To me Masterminds are generally summed up as excellent to OP solo to small teams, any team over 5 members can lead to issues as the number of bosses with pet deadly AoE's start to pop up. Exceptions, as always, as some have pointed out already.

Personally I have yet to carry an MM past 40. I have a few I really enjoy, but they require a degree of thought, at times, that I just don't get in the mood for. other days playing an MM is like playing on autopilot, everything dies, I steamroll on. Just the other day I stomped SSA2 part 1 in around 30 min before work with my Demon/Dark, an overly strong build to begin with. No trouble until final battle, including the fight on the raider platform. Even then, I didn't personally die in the final battle, just had to keep respawning my demons over and over.

I'm sure others will have better experience than I though, it's my least played AT.
  18. I'd rather see a shared world with each faction having it's own contacts and content in each zone, including the Rogues and Vigilantes. I don't think it needs to be co-op zoned, just shared space. Villains are in Paragon pursuing their own plans, from an RP standpoint this is really freeing, as I've never cared for the destined one angle. For heroes they have a way to do good in an area where it counts most. Set up contacts that are part of a resistance to free the Isles and drive off Arachnos.

I don't think we have the tech, but it would be great if there was optional co-op contacts in each zone, but I would be fine with each faction having their own goals and contacts/content.

This would also be a great way to give the grey alignments something to do. Honestly whether they merge the zones or not ever, not having Rogue/Vigilante arcs is a huge waste of storytelling opportunity.
  19. Yeah, I was thinking of farming the rularuu in the arcs, was more curious if the rulu shin counted. I was not aware that those arcs redside unlocked the weapons though. I use paragon wiki alot, just never thought to look that up in particular until I saw this thread.
  20. Do Rulu-Shin count towards the unlock on the weapons? I'd run that part of the Sig daily for an easier way to unlock the Rulu weapons redside.

That is a truly great idea. I would buy alternate animations in a heartbeat for most ranged sets. Not just blasts, but a gun for Kin? A wand for Dark Control? The only issue I could foresee would be assault sets for Doms.

They could even sell them on the market as "new" power sets. All the balancing is done, just port the powers over onto new animations. sell them for more than a costume set, less than a full new powerset, maybe free for VIP. Huge downside to that.... no powerset respec... hmmm. I wonder if the system is set up to where it could access the market for new animations with weapons.

    Tattoo

Also, face tattoos, or faces with tattoos on them. I think Freakshow have the faces I'm thinking of, with prison style tattoos, just give us those faces for a quick fix.
  23. My gameplay has changed in a few ways this year:

    - Ran out of character slots on Pinn (altaholic) so I've started focusing on setting goals and milestones for each character I play each session.
-Stopped writing bios for most characters. Don't know why, they all still have a story in my head.
-Being more active in teams, playing support roles. I've soloed for most of the 7 years I've played and am trying to step out more.
-Rounded out my character mix, less brutes, corrupters and scrappers, more of everything else.
-Started playing with the difficulty sliders more, Especially the mob multiplier.
-Craft more. I was sitting on billions of inf, so started investing that into my favorite characters.
-Started posting in the forums. I've lurked for years, but rarely commented.
