Sure wish I could be at PAX to pick up a VIP tag for a friend that has that costume on his wish-list for his character. He won't be able to make it as he is unemployed and lives in the sticks.
Oh, well. Have a lot of fun there, folks. I still haven't seen anyone with the Freakshow costume on Guardian while I've been playing. Makes me wonder how many hardsuits we are going to be seeing next month. -
Thanks, October... I am an AVID Champions/Hero System player from Launch Day 1 of that game at Pacific Origins... back in the early 80's. So no fear there.
I was just thinking about the 'official' game will reading the boards and wondered what happened with it.
And yeah, I just hit up AEG's site and took care of the CCG side of things. Looks like they came out with an expansion to it, too. Made an order for some to have on hand. (Along with what I got in the DvD Collector's box or whatever it was. Durn memory... always failing. All my points have been spent on powers not INT...) -
Okay, got my own answer to my CCG question.
http://www.cohccg.com/ For the CCG.
I looked at the website for the RPG and all the product stuff is from years ago and still lists TBA on the listing. -
Did the pen & paper roleplaying game book ever come out? If so, where can I order one from.
For that matter, what happened to the COH CCG? If it is out, where can I order it from? -
1) With default To-Hit vs no defense: As the attacker or defender in this situation, I would want 1 of every 2 (or 50%) to hit at the least. What I 'expect' in these cases is more like 1 in 3 as attacker and 1 in 2 as defender.
2) If I have max To-Hit vs no defense, I -want- to be hitting most of the time. like 4 out of 5 times. If I was the defender in that situation, I would be running away as I would expect to be getting hit most of the time. (No matter what I might -want-.)
3) In the defaut To-Hit vs Max Defense - I would want to hit from time to time. Maybe 1 in 5. And I would expect that I would seem never to hit. And this would also be what I would expect as the one being attacked. The occasional attack getting through.
4) Max To-Hit vs Max Defense - I would expect this to act the same as case 1. 1 in 2 tries should hit. Basicly, Max To-Hit vs Max Defense should cancel each other out.
(The following is in hero system terms)
1) 11- to hit (7 OCV vs a 7 DCV) - Average roll hits
2) 17- to hit (13+ OCV vs a 7 DCV) - Most rolls hit
3) 5- to hit (7 OCV vs 13 DCV) - Still a few chances on 3d6 to hit
4) 11- to hit (13 OCV vs 13 DCV) - Average roll hits
Of course, in this Hero System example, as with any time you are talking about dice, there are people that are luckier than others that skew the chances. Same holds true for random number generators. -
Gah!!! I hear you there Castle. My pride and shame was the one month I ran up a $444 Compuserve bill. Never mind the phone bill for that month. Those games just sucked me in back then... and I have never turned back. I think my being a MMOholic has deep roots back in those early days.

I replied Costumes, but it was a real war between Costumes and Storylines.
What really holds me to the City of games, besides having friends and loved ones that play is that I really love playing a hero. Playing a villain in CoV is also fun, but no where near as fun as being that amazing fellow who helps people because he CAN rather than doing some self-serving thing with his powers.
After that comes the Storylines and the Costumes. Or the Costumes and the storylines. Being able to be so personal with selecting from a large list to customize how my character looks for others to see just rocks!
Sure, someone else could look at me and build the same exact thing if he intended to do so. And people can look nearly like me without too much trouble with some of my costumes. But that character is MINE once I do the costume(s). More so than my characters in any other MMO.
In other MMOs if I am getting the most efficient equipment for my character at my level and class/job/arctype to make my character work the best, I am HIGHLY likely to look JUST like a number of other characters in the game that have the same race, class and level.
The Costumes in City of make me unique! Or nearly so.
Now, if we could just be as custom on our power FX for our powers, that would make even less chance of someone else seeming to be the same as me and make me even more unique.
In the world of MMOs, being unique is IMPORTANT! That Identity in name and appearance and powers means the world! -
We will miss you more than I think I know how to express. But that just means we will have to come visit over in your new TR home. Best of luck and thanks for all the fish!

Thank you, Cryptic! Thank you NCSoft! These 2 years have been a blast. No other MMO have I consistantly been interested in from Beta to this point in their history. My main, Thrillseeker, is level 48 now, and my Girlfriend's main hit 50 last night (She did it in eleven months!... and I've been working on it for 2 years! - damn alt-aholicism I have).
While I had some worries when Enhancement Diversity hit, it's all worked out and I am still having a blast. I look forward to crowding Pocket D on Guardian tonight.
Thank you again for a great game, and lets hope to see many more birthdays for this game to come.
(I really need to get a non-christmas icon....) -
My Girlfriend and I have been playing together since she started in late may of this year. She now has characters at a higher level than I do.
