    Blizzard?

    Ok, well, it definately seems that i have mis-judged blizzard. Didn't realise it did a -ToHit, thats quite cool.
    Although i still see it as one of my more despensable powers Ill definatly take all ur advice under consideration and get the power 6 slotted b4 i do anything rash.

    (Btw, i still think they should change the name of the power. I mean, I've never been in a blizzard, but i imagine that there's more to it than raining chunks of ice...Perhaps this would be a good place for people to share their blizzard experiences or maybe recall amusing anecdotes concerning abnormal weather patterns (shouldn't be too hard if ur from the U.K)

    Hey there, this question relates to my lvl36 ice/mental blaster. I took Blizzard at lvl32 because....well, why not? All the other top tier blaster primary powers are plenty of fun and despite the DoT nature of Blizzard- i thought, "Well...How bad can it be?"

    Four levels further in with this character and it seems that Blizzard is a bit poo. Despite boasting extreme dot, i aint seeing anything more than 1s and 2s dropping off. Ok- it is ranged and it does seem to rechg relatively quicker than some of the other blaster nukes, but what good is that really? Its not like you can spam a power that drops ur entire end bar, is it? Even if u try and exploit the ranged aspect of the power, because its DoT some of the mob will make it off the AoE to charge u down anyway... + to cap it all off, after seeing the animation on the power for the 1st time I think someone should sue ncsoft/norcal (or whatever) under the trades description act- Blizzard indeed! Maybe rename it Blue Ice Drop? Anyways...

    Am I missing something here? Because at the moment Im so disapointed with this powers performance I think im just going to 'spec it out. Once I get PSW I recon Ill have all the Aoe Dmg I need along with Frosty Breath and Psy Scream.(< Just an assumption im making, btw)

    Does anyone agree with me? Is there anyone thats found a particular use for it their build?
  3. Awesome! In that case my plan is to slot it with a Soulbound Allegiance "Chance For Build Up" , and whack a couple of rechgs to increase the hit rate of the buff. Use sparky as a build up monkey

    Do you mean to say that it benefits from RechRdx in the obvious way i.e by increasing the Rechg of the power, or do you mean that slotting Rechg will actually increase the sentinals attack rate?
  5. Thanks for your quick replies fellas. Thats good news for me on both the sould drain and midnight grasp fronts. Thought i was gonna need more slots that i dont have. I am running focused acc at the moment, hence 1 acc slot. Now i know that slotting immobs into midnight grasp wont increase the dmg that idea is out. Thx agin for your help, will prolly respec this aft. May post my full build here before hand for some more ideas, if you'd be so kind as to take a look at it.
  6. Hi, i have my Dark Melee/Super Reflexes Scrapper at lvl49 (hopefully hit 50 today ) and im basically just trying to round off my build before i move on to something else and i have a couple of questions regarding two of the powers in particular.

    1.When slotting damage enhancements into Soul Drain does that just enhance the damage that the AoE does to the targets it hits when you execute the power or does it increase the buff you get from the power aswell in terms of your damage output? ( At the moment i have 1xAcc/3xRechg lvl50 IOs slotted. I did have 2xDmg aswell, but i spec'd them out and put them to use elsewhere, now im wondering if this was a good idea...)

    2.Does Midnight Grasp continue to do damage aslong as the immobilzation effect is active? What im getting at here is, put simply- Can i increase the duration of the DoT by slotting Immobilization enhancements? (At the moment i have 1xAcc/2xDmg lvl50 IOs slotted. I plan on sticking a recharge in it when i hit 50 and im trying to decide if its worth sticking in an immobilization aswell..)

    I actually have 1 more question regarding Super Reflexes...so, while your here .....

    3. I have noticed that when Elude drops and my end crashes it does not always knock my toggles off immediatly, sometimes there is a delay of 5-10 secs (approx) which allows me to gobble CaB's, hit Dark Consumption and carrying on kicking [censored] without the frustration of bieng de-toggled- Ace! So what i want to know is... What causes this delay effect? And is it something that i can control and use to my advantage?

  7. Im no expert on IO slotting, but it seeems to me that any more than 4 slots in hasten is overkill. Wouldn't u be better pinching two slots off it and placing them somewhere else for a better return?
    For intstance i might be tempted to five slot volcanic gas', u could put two of the purp hold set in (i think that gives a 15% Rechg redux bonus, doesn't it?) or maybe 1 more hold IO and a dmg proc? A dmg proc in VG would be well worth it considering the pulse nature of the power. Are there any dmg procs in the stun io sets? I dont know off the top of my head but if so,u could slap a sixth slot in stalagmaites?

    Just ideas anyway. Other than that the build looks pretty sound to me.
  8. I am more of a forum reader than a forum poster, if you get my meaning, however i just cant resist this thread

    Im pretty sure its been mentioned before, but it has to be said again- Time Control. Just the mere thought of it moistens me *shudders. Im not going to bore you with possible power choices, but i have thought about it and there's plenty of options for both traditional type control powers and also some new unorthodox/unconventional powers to refresh the AT with. I really have no idea how likely something like this will be, but it doesn't stop me from praying to God for this every night before i go to sleep. Join me now controller bretherin! Through the power of prayer we can make this a reality! Can I get an Amen?!

    Im also in total agreement with previous posters on the dark power proliferation to the controller AT. Just bieng able to have a modified dark miasma 2ndary would be awesome. An ice/dark troller anyone? Or how bout an ice/db Domi?- A Dark control primary is just too much for my poor overloaded imagination to take in just now, so lets just savour the possibilities in silence... &lt;forum breaking dots removed by moderator&gt; ahhh, *wipes drool from chin.

    As for elec primary, it doesn't excite as much as the aforementioned but id be well up for that. Water would be interesting too, im not too sure how it could be achieved though.

    Well thats my bit, i hear the games back up again, so im off.

    Tbh Miss, i think you need to think about uppin' the crazy stakes. Energy stalkers without AS has allready been done. After all, last years crazy are this years mildly mal-adjusted. Or something like that anyway
    Why dont you create a stalker and take no other powers after you've slotted ur AS at lvl7 and try to get ur character to security lvl50 without training up after that- just go the whole way with just ur 2nd, 4th and 6th tier powers? (okay, maybe allow yourself build up @ lvl8)
    Now that really would be an enterprise of stark raving, head bonking, lunacy of which the like no man has ever seen, or dare i even say it, dreamt of before
    Point is Miss, its high time for some poor demented soul to stand up and be counted,to set a new standard of insansity for the whole community to wonder at. And i think that person could quite possibly be you.

  10. Definatley Earth/Storm. Its super fun. If i was gonna do an ice troller, id pair it with rad thats a really sweet combo too.
  11. Oh and thx for your reply aswell Devil. Im not so sure id want to go down the route of avoiding the melee powers in the Psi set as they seem to be really tasty and worth making use of. Although you make a valid point on the Singularity compensating for the lack of control in the primary set. However u gotta wait till lvl32 before you can take it and as ive already mentioned im looking for something with a bit more instant gratification this time round. But thanks for your thoughts, muchly appreciated.

    You've pretty much hit my main concern on the head there mate. It seems with Grav u gotta wait till u can get ur AoE Hold (lvl24 is it?) till u have anyway of mezzing a group of enemies (i dont know, but i bet the rechg on it is mammoth), sure you get wormhole later on, which im assuming can be slotted for disorientation, but thats later on and i dont wanna have to get a toon to lvl30+ before i can start having some fun with it.
    I have Ice, Fire, and Earth trollers and as you've pointed out these sets all offer many different control options right from the word go pretty much.Whereas Grav seems to substitute some early aoe control powers for some fairly average (if somewhat fun) single target dmg.I mean, Jeez! Im only lvl10, but if you include my vet reward powers i got 7 single target attacks of mod. dmg. and only two control powers (my single target immob and hold- cant remeber the names sorry) and that all seems a bit backward considering that a Dom's primary is control, oh well. I was trying to go for something new, but im starting to remember why i always fall out with every grav toon i've made

    I do also have a mind/psi at a simulart lvl and ive never really explored the mind control set properly, so i guess ill play the two characters and see which suits me best.

    hmmm.. Mind/Psi, Grav/Psi, theres just too much choice in this game for people like me
  13. Hey there, i just rolled a grav/psi domi last night, cuz i fancies doing something with the /psi set and well i've done most've the other control primaries to death.
    Im only lvl9, but already ive begun to spot a few (potential) teething problems, so i thought id have a look on the forums for some ideas on the build etc and i notice there are are hardley any posts which relate to Grav/Psi and specifically the synergy between these two sets
    Now, this tells me that either; a) There is something severley wrong with putting these two sets together and i should cease and decist immediatley, b) All Grav/Psi's are introverted reclusives who completely shun the forums (my favourite option ), or, c) Grav/Psi is perhaps a combo which hasn't been used as much as the others, and as such its potential still lays somewhat untapped by the FoTM brigade (love u people btw).
    Ofcourse i could play this character to lvl50 to find out for myself. But the whole point of asking this question is to save myself the frustration of putting alot of time into a toon that just aint happening.
    So, please post here any and all information on Grav/Psi's you got, ta muchly.

  15. Assault and tactics sounds like quite a good idea for a fire/kin to me. I have thought about it myself, but had decided to avoid toggles at all cost as my end suffers enough as it is. But with lvl35 only just around the corner for me, i 've been thinkin i might like to try and run some of the leadership powers. So, do u find they tax your endurance heavily? Would you recomend waiting until transference is slotted 1st? Basically- what do u think?

    Also any advice on slotting them would be appreciated as ive never used leadership b4, thx. (Endrdx all the way?)

    I am a lvl35 fire/kin and im just planning my build for the next 15 lvls and was wondering if i can expect to be speccing it out at lvl40. Answers on a postcard pls

    P.s I dont think we should concern ourselves with copy cats or maintaining some kind of exclusive right to characters we've re-created. We aren't the 1st ones to think of this and we certainly wont be the last, hell, i created my Altered Statesman character almost 2 years ago (admittedly ive redone him 5 times now).
    I think reading the sg bio, it leaves alot scope for people to do what they want (not that they should), after all if one clone can be created, many can. All Different or all the same. My point is (i think i have a point) is that we dont have to be so anal over whose got what alt and how many people are gonna take part e.t.c We've got our characters, The sg bio has been written and the theme has been set, so just let it happen- play it by ear if u will. Nothing has to be set in stone.
    I honestly dont mind what happens with the sg either way. Even if many others are invited there will still be the original members and if others aren't invited thats cool too. Spose all im sayin is lets not get so anal about it we forget that its supposed to be for a bit of fun

    Dammit, i was gonna make a Swan alt, but i got told it was taken so ive done Malaise instead Not my first choice, but its turned out quite well. Name is Catatonia if anyone cares.

    I trhought i should create another sg toon cuz if i keep playing with States' it seems ill end up leaving u slow pokes for dust Too much yakin' and not enuff game play :0
    Incidentaly if anyone else is thinkin of doin a Swan toon, i came up with what i thought was quite a cool name (which im not gonna print here for abvious reasons). But if any sg members are interested, id be happy to let someone else use it.

    Just read the bio for the sg and I think Its all good. I have to say that im really starting to enjoy Altered Statesman as a character (fire/kin ftw) and I recon once we have all eight of us playing together on the regular we'll have a pretty sweet super team thingy going.
    One question though, are we going to have a twisted helix web page on webeden for extended bios and other gubbins (similar the bach' arrangement)?

    Also i had an idea with regards to the "Do we expand the sg or keep it to an 8 man super team?" issue. Why dont we just keep THelix to eight people and if u wanna expand u could create a Thelix 2nd Gen sg containing bio engineered villains from the DNA of heroes we havn't used yet and also further refined copies of the ones we have already, even toons that aren't CoH based aslong as their inkeeping with the Thelix bio. Fuckit you could even do a 3rd/4th gen if it really takes off.

    In addition, you could even add something to the bio about how the THelix appropritate the technology from arachnos and begin creating their own army or something which could give us plenty of conceptual space in which to expand the sg if we so choose.

    Anyway im just thinking out loud here really, lemme know what u think

    I have thought alot bout this also (started thinkin about it after i started watchin Heroes- Hiro Nakamura FTW! ) and have come up with many of the same ideas that u have put forward here. I think time control would be an absolutley awesome set and is definatley no.1 on my wishlist. More control, more power! Grrrr.. e.t.c.

    I usually play at +2 +3's with this toon aswell. Went through a period of doin +4 and maybe even +5's (high lvl team obviously and yes, i died lots ) But i cant say i have found slotting accuracy in VG to be of any use tbh.
