Seemingly not if i remember corectly the elimental weapons arent actually weapons there just power FX. Of course if they were going to the trouble of reanimating things converting the elimental weapons to actual weapons could be done at the same time maybe.

although elec has the same problem, fire seems a bit too much, I'd be seeing glowing fires walking around while NPC's don't notice at all

Well the NPC tend to not notice a lot of things so dose one more really matter also I'm pretty sure armour effects stealth along with stealth so there would be no random fires walking about -

It would give /fire stalkers a much stronger AS than any other stalker.

True but a /fire stalker lacks the tricks of the other armours so it could be argued that it needs that extra damage to offset its lack of defensive abilities -

As one of these people i wouldn't actually care plus you get a wee warning to say that in the future your server transfer may become redundant -

I realise this is a type of power customisation but i believe its possible under the current tech so should be implementable
the one thing that has always annoyed me about the elemental melee sets (and those sets that borrow from them) is there's no consistent to the powers look what i mean is that some powers are weapon based (fire sword, Ice Sword, Stone mallet) while others are strait forward hand based (cremate, frozen fists, seismic smash) now i understand that some people probably like the mix of weapons and non weapons but personally i would prefer one or the other so I'm suggesting that the same tech used to do the splitting powers for VEATs be used to create weapon and non weapon versions of elemental melee sets within the same power.
as a example I've knocked up a example stone melee set
1. Mallet Jab 1.Stone Fist
2. Stone Mallet 2.Stone Punch
3. Heavy Mallet 3.Stone Smash
4. taunt
5. Build Up
6. fault
7. hurle boulder
8. tremour
9. Mallet Smash 9.seismic smash
both powers would have exactly the same stats the only difference being one would use the mallet the other would use your fists also if you took mallet jab you couldn't take its alternative power stone fist
also if the tech worked it could be expanded to other power sets maybe to give martial arts a few different moves -
I would love to have 2 versions of it one all sword the other all melee but my aim was to make it as strait forward to port as possible with as little new animations as could be achieved so no all fire sword stalker set

Now i realise this is more than likely to happen at some point what with PP but what the hell
1.Heat Haze = Hide by another name
2.fire shield = Same as brute version
3.healing flames = Same as brute version
4.temperature protection = same as brute version
5.plasma shield = same as brute version
6.consume = same as brute
7.burn = Same as brute, could work well for stalker as a emergency power as it causes mobs to flee a good distance.
8.fiery embrace = A second build up would be very handy for stalkers.
9.rise of the Phoenix = A self res not great but better than than the dark armour version as this dose not require any need by mobs.
Fire melee is pretty much the same with Assassins Sword replacing fire breath and placate replacing confront only down side i can think of is that DoT could make re hiding difficult
1. scorch
2. fire sword
3. Cremate
4. Assassins sword = same animation as Ninja blade but with a flaming fire sword instead of the ninja blade
5. Build up
6. Placate
7. Fire sword circle
8. Incinerate
9. Greater fire sword -
Yea i was looking forward to them but personaly i would much preffer 4 or 5 new power sets than a new epic has to be unlocked AT
Though maybe a shape shifting light AT available to both heroes and villains would be nice it could have 4 or 5 different shapes with the rest of powers just being shape shift attacks (turn arm into blade type stuff) would be nice it would still need a fair bit of work though i imagine -

the problem with shape shifting is that it exists in different forms within the comic universes some one like mystique is stuck pretty much changing between human forms and although she has taken on slightly more unusual forms there always very humanoid. in game a character like mystique could probably be represented with a MA/SR scrapper with a few very different costumes rather than a hole new powerset/AT.
Then you get those shape shifter like morph who can become anything they want as there pretty much a lump of playdo with a mind this type of character would be neer impossible to replicate in CoH (and i suspect pretty much any other current computer game)
within CoH for a shape shifting AT probably the best you can hope for is a kind of super Kheldian where every power is a mutually exclusive toggle that changed you into a different entity but balancing such a thing would be a nightmare eat ch "power" would have its own set of sub powers if you followed the khelidian model that would be about 5 sub powers per actual power so your looking at 45 powers (90 if its a primary and secondary) that need to be created/animated. that's a hell of a lot of work for a single AT -
I love this idea having rival factions waring across zones would help bring some life to the Zones. especially if some for of the recluses victory codding could be implemented as well and have the zone change dependant on if the gangs were in charge or if the heroes/villains had smacked them down.

A nice idea and i has been suggested in the past but as you mention its difficult (if not impossible) to implement with the current game engine
as to your OT question no its not unheard of and it has happened most recently with EVE but its no small task and can cause a lot of problems (as it did with EVE) however i wouldn't be surprised if the NCNC intend to do this at some point in CoH future. -

What do you mean by GOMOD? some more detail would be nice as most sets can be powerful if slotted/built a certain way -
this is sad news I hope all those that are having to leave manage to get new jobs doing something they enjoy.

Also meant to say there's also the problem of how such a move would be perceived by the gaming public in general while combining servers would be great from a player base point of view such things are often viewed as the beginning of the end for a game.

A server less environment is already being considered by the Dev's (how much there considering it though is any ones guess) you even get a warning that implies such a thing may happen in the future when you transfer a character from one server to another.
But as you've pointed out there's a lot to consider in the implementation of a server less environment can you imagine the shouts and moans if a 4 or 5 year player looses the name of his main toon to a 3 month player people would not be happy. even global could be effected if they made it game wide (no more US and EU servers)
there's also the legal questions due to the way NCEU and NCUS are set up there separate entities so from what i understand there's lots of problems concerning the transfer of data -

Maybe if certain elements were less bitter about the dev's not posting on the EU forums then we mite see more activity from them this side of the pond as it is would you post some where your liable to get flamed and blamed for everything that is wrong in the game.
Also have you looked at when the Devs post very often there posts are made early morning or late at night so unless they work strange hours there doing it in there free time. -
Just a guess but the XP bonus could be a reward for one of the day jobs. In the same way that you'll get a Regen boost for logging of at hospitals maybe you'll get a XP boost for logging of in a on patrol area.

that was my point some of the current weapon models bare very litle relation to the animations but there still there so why not have others like some axe models and the tech sword and let the players chose.
Infact why not proliforate all the available weapon skins betwean broadsword katana dualblades ninja blade and axe and then treat the power sets more like diffent stiels -
I think BaB said no to axes cause they lacked a staby bit but I'm sure they could come up with a sutable model that could be both choppy and stabby. Also it would be nice if they porter over the rusty blade from katana and the tech blade from broad sword (dose any one really care that it's supposidly to long)
