  1. With the game being set in Paragon City it might be easy to forget that there are other heroes across the globe, fighting the good fight, doing what's right.

So I thought I'd throw this question out there. What would the signature character for Oceanic heroes be like? What makes a true Oceanic Hero?

I'm sure some of you must have themed toons, or stories to tell about how you've brought a down-under perspective to your team.

    I'll start the ball rolling by saying;

...an Oceanic hero knows that even though they can fire lightning from their finger tips, you still have to respect the environment, Mother Nature is an Incarnate.
  2. First, thanks for the review! I think. It looks like my first outing is a bust, however you've provided me with plenty of constructive feedback. Seems I'm guilty of over-extending myself. I'll be revisiting this arc with a view to adjusting the newbie design errors, poor story-telling and customising the custom critters for greater differentation between ranks.

Currently I'm working on a horror arc that I'm enjoying, but I'll be giving it a thorough going over with a fresh critical perspective before release.
  3. Your site looks good, I'm not a fan of the particular font you're using but other than that the graphics and content I gave a once over looks as if it will be helpful to new players and give some of us vets some new perspective on social interaction in Co*.

    Keep it up!

Proof that more than one thing can be worked on at the same time! Astounding! I'm sure this will make the Mac Users happy.

Obviously it's the Blue Steel Factor, the cooler you are the more nonchalantly you walk!
  7. Updated earlier post upthread with issues/bugs.
  8. This bot was made for walking,
And that's just what he'll do,
This bot was made for walking,
And one of these days he's gonna,
    WALK all over you!

Okee, logged in, walking, checking things out in Oroborous, decide to see how it looks when I walk to my doom off the edge, the falling animation is hilarious!
    • I saw a sped up version of the walk animation while falling (Walk power on + forward or R), just like in the cartoons!
    • Swimming with Walk on is slow, but so far problem free.
    • Suggest that icon on Walk button should be different from Sprint to differentiate the two.
    • Would be good to be able to toggle from Walk to Sprint, currently have to turn Walk off then activate Sprint.
    • Animation ascending or descending stairs is a little jerky, the timing seems to speed up too much and there's some clipping of boots on stairs and slopes with Huge and Male models.
    • Flying + R results in abovementioned fast-forward pedalling while arcing to the ground. Looks unnatural, should transition to Fall animation?
    • With Walk on, then clicked off, some powers can be activated via key command while Powers tray remains greyed out in power suppressed Creation Studio B of AE building. Eg. Sprint, Revolver, Energy Punch, Power Thrust. Do not get "You cannot activate <power>" message.
Liking it so far, I know demorecordists and roleplayers alike will rejoice that you've managed to sneak another pony into our collective bedrooms!

Yeah, I guess my attention to the issue could be found wanting. For the regular mission play I do, it's not too inconvenient to play those missions at a different time if there's hastily scheduled maintenance. That would be a completely different kettle of fish when you've planned and are managing an event.

    Let's see how things go.
  10. I'm also surprised at the lack of any "official" recap of information released at HeroCon this year. Whether that recap was in the form of updating the Going Rogue website, or a sticky posting on the forums, wouldn't matter too much to me, but its absence is notable.

  12. I'd love a review of my two-part arc, "A Spanner In The Works." ArcID's are in my signature!

Well, that might fly. Seriously though, I kinda consider maintenance time regularly scheduled, "Get a life" time! One to two hours per week of not being able to play the game is probably a good idea for our posture, wrists and psyches.

    Can we keep it?

I enjoyed trying out the Deadly Apocalyse a few times, then I was over it. The novelty had worn off. So, I wouldn't back it being 'always on', or even alternating it with the Zombie Apocalypse for costume trade-in events. I'm happy with it being once a year, at Halloween. As for backstory, yeah, I was oblivious to any, it should be fleshed out, and I think they should drop the random GM representation and make some fresh models for the big fella.

I've heard the idea of a Paragon City event, like Invasion Memorial Day or the like, and the one thing I'd like to see added in an event such as that....fireworks in the sky, rockets blasting skyward and sending prismatic sprays of colour across the city. Nothing says celebration like fireworks. Maybe they could hold it on the anniversary of the games release each year.

    My 2 inf.

Don't mention how many stars you gave or anything, you don't want it to come off as "I x starred yours, you x star mine!" Just "I had my own twist on this, would you mind taking a look, arc ID..." at the end of your comments.

Okay, that's an idea I haven't tried. Thanks Memphis Bill. It's not meant to be this hard though, is it? I put in a fair amount of love into them, and enjoyed the creative process, but still, I'm not one of those types who creates for a void, I'd like an audience. Oh well, at least Golden Girl will get to mine when she hits the 330,000's.

Colour me jealous! Now if only I could get someone, anyone, to play my arcs! 24 days live and not a single play, comment or rating. I iz a very sad panda about that. I've tried placing the details in the Live announcement thread, added my ArcID's to my forum signature, submitted them for reviews, asked my SG members, and even done short, "Play my thread nao!" requests in local while in Atlas Park AE, still nada.

Congrats again to Dr. Aeon on his appointment, lucky *******!
  17. Thanks for the info RottenLuck, I'll try that arc out to see what light it sheds on the mystery. Hopefully Manticore will also help out in that regard.
  18. I would like to know more about the individual who became the Clockwork King. Does he have an official name and background? Why is he so fixated on Penelope Yin? Is it a psychic bond? If Clockwork are created and controlled by him how could they have played a part in his escape from Blue Steel once he was 'dead'? If they didn't, then who did?

    I'll take any morsel really.

  20. Okay, great idea this thing. But I think they really need to find somebody to work on their website. My mind was shocked right back to the 90's when I saw it's lack of style, poor formatting and unappealing visuals.

People can write a novel in a month eh? Good for them!

  22. Looks like if we weren't all aware of what scheduled maintenance involves and why it needs to be done, we can't claim ignorance now! I'd like to thank TheOcho for commenting on the issue.

For the other posters, here's something to remember, this is a trial. I'd quite like the trial to become permanent. Once a week has got to be better than twice a week right?

The rolling schedule idea has merit, but I don't think it would be economically viable to pay people to get out of bed in the middle of their night to do it.

Let's give the trial some more time, see how it flies when there aren't events like Halloween and icky server stability issues to sully our view of it.
  23. Go-go geography!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceania

    For those with link-aversion;

"Oceania (sometimes Oceanica) is a geographical, often geopolitical, region consisting of numerous lands—mostly islands in the Pacific Ocean and vicinity. The term "Oceania" was coined in 1831 by French explorer Dumont d'Urville. The term is used today in many languages to denote a continent comprising Australia and proximate Pacific islands, and is one of eight terrestrial ecozones.
The boundaries of Oceania are defined in a number of ways. Most definitions recognize parts of Australasia such as Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea, and part of Maritime Southeast Asia as being parts of Oceania. Ethnologically, the islands that are included in Oceania are divided into the subregions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.

    Curses, still 1 minute behind!
  24. I obviously didn't make myself clear enough. I stated my stance on in-game advertising, with full awareness that you were talking about floating billboards with fictitious advertising such as more Paragon Pizza's etc. Then I said that I wouldn't back those either as I think there are enough billboards and made-up ads in the game already.

    Hope that clarifies things.
