Ok, that's my next build taking most of the advice here, though I still am choosing to try it without a travel power so I could fit darkest night in and used my last power slot to take Grant Invisilibilty to go along with Shadowfall in boosting ppl's defence.
Most of my dark powers only have one accuracy as the defence debuff of Rad should boost my own accuracy as well (so far it seems to be working) -
Ok, I'm trying to build a decent team support Defender who isn't a healer, after seeing various defenders in action I've settled on a Dark/Rad combo so I can use /Rad to increase my chances of hitting with the strong Dark/ debuffs and hold combo's.
Note I haven't taken a travel power so I could fit the Medicine pool in, hopefully this won't turn out to be massively annoying

Normally I get this problem because I use wall mounted lighting in my base and it means the wall can't be deleted to place the doorway.
Also, don't forget that unless you've reached the "ring stage" of base building, you can't change where the door goes (once you have the rooms in a ring, you can move the doors around as it'll still leave one door intact) -
Well, to be perfectly honest I like my tanks to be up front and soaking up a fair bit of damage, but they don't have to hold ALL the aggro, because the blasters and scrappers should be taking on their targets as well and if those AT's don't take aggro away from the tank, then they're not doing enough damage!
Only time I get disappointed is with bossy tanks who insist that their way is the correct way. After all, I'm a mind controller and a lot of my moves don't prompt aggro so I should unleash them and let them do their work before everything goes to hell. -

I thought that too until browsing through the forums desperate to find him and came across a little piece of info, he aparently spawns very early in the morning most reliably. So one day I woke at 6am, got up & went to Perez and lo & behold there was Kraken waiting to be pounded on. -

Nothing like watching the scrapper panic about where his target's gone when you've Levitated or TK'd them off their screen during a particularly flashy AoE attack from the blaster -
To be honest I've found my controller hard to level at times but mostly because I don't have the kind of damage output required to solo missions. Best thing to do is find a regular group of 1-3 other people who you like and feel comfortable playing with and work together on getting those levels.
Also, be prepared to faceplant a lot whenever you mess up, controllers are hard because if you mis-remember your hold durations, or they're not ready before the last one has expired enemies have a nasty tendancy of targeting you first.... -
The Band of Indiscriminate Justice's first level 50 memember needs adding Mr Isotope - Rad/Rad/Psi Defender.

How about an Overcharge mode instead? Click power with a time limit that lets you do more damage at the expense of all your powers costing more?
If that's too easy to exploit, something along the lines of Domination, linked to damage suffered instead of holds you throw out. In keeping with the idea of defiance, perhaps it could include a -regen element so that a low health blaster couldn't activate the ability and then get fully healed whilst the timer counted down. -

Yup, totally paranoid about endurance, nothing worse than watching team mates drop because you're out of endurance! Point taken about the end reduc in RA though. -
Ok, so I've come up to my second respec finally and I need some advice on what to select. Mostly I'm playing quite happily as a support character so I'm hoping to take advantage of that role a bit further by taking the Leadership pool instead of a couple of other powers.
Alternatively I'd replace the leadership powers with Hover and Stealth to make me more useful at mission running and give me a megre defense.

Previously I wasn't a fan of Telekenisis, it drains endurance faster than a US Senator can drain Iraq of oil unslotted, but once I got it slotted with a couple of end reducs and hit my Recovery Aura (controller here btw) I found it to be v. useful.
Only thing to remember is you have to run around a fair bit if you use it in open ground to "herd" a group though it makes a great panic power if you're being swarmed in open ground, hit it for 15-30 seconds to scatter out a large group. -
Personally, I find Mass Hypnosis to be a great opening power for mobs, especially if you follow it up with Terrify. Telekinesis on the other hand I've found little pratical use for and it's an End hog to boot.

From my experiences playing a Mind controller, you definately appreciate hard controls when you can get them but knockdown is often more effective as it seems to hit more often (something like Ice Patch or that odd volcano thing Earth controllers get).
Other than that, decide early on whether you're a solo or support charcter build. I've built my controller as a support build, so I've got a lot of team buffs and my AoE controls are primary. A soloist would focus more on their self-enhacing powers and damaging attacks, -
Personally, I like my Mind/Empath controller a lot, being able to hold people solidly means I can reduce the damage my team suffers as well as healing them. With a decent team you can attack targets in small groups rather than taking on EVERYONE at once. Also, mind tends to aggro less so you take less damage as well
Only downside I find is that at low levels you have damaging powers but you don't really shine until you get both Mass Hypnosis and Total Domination to really hold large groups. -
Mostly I chose Hover to help with my teleporting, fly was selected at the end because I'd been told Regeneration Aura wasn't all that effective.
With that in mind, chances are Regen Aura will be selected earlier, pushing most powers up. -
Ok, so I've noticed that Mind controllers seem pretty thin on the ground but I've been having a blast playing this character. What advice can people give me on my build as I'm shortly coming up for my level 34 respec and I'd rather plan it right this time around. My current plan is as follows.

From what I've been told by a more experienced player in my supergroup, you're really best off doing lots and lots of supergroup missions via the Mission Computer to earn prestige.

I've had fun with both a SS/Force Field Brute and a DM / Fire Brute
So far I think I prefer the DM/Fire for the additional heals available though I'm getting to the end of each fight without endurance.
