I'm a pretty all around player, I sometimes do some RP in the form of randomly talking in character while playing, but I do want to experience a more RP driven group here and there. I enjoy just grinding some trials and TFs, and want to get into badge hunting, but its been a bit daunting so far to jump into...maybe when I get a fully decked out 50 he can go acquire 1000 badges

I built my Beam Rifle toon as a Beam/Sonic Corruptor, Sonic is relatively set it and forget it type set, shield, toggle, toggle, DISINTEGRATE! So it lets me focus on getting the spreads which is pretty fun.
-
Trying to sit here and think of a build for my Ice/Pain Corruptor but running into a few snags, so I have a few questions to ask and see what you all think
1. Is defense absolutely necessary? With World of Pain, Tough, and an Epic Shield, I can hit around 68% s/l resistance, and with a self-heal in Nullify Pain, would this make me durable enough?
2. What Epic pool would generally be advisable for this combo? I was thinking Psychic or Soul because while I run in to use Anguishing Cry, World of Confusion can offer me protection, or I can also use Soul Drain while I'm in there. One question is, being inexperienced with World of Confusion, is it good enough to take as one of your powers?
Any other general advice points would be appreciated also -
I feel it would just be best to advertise only 2-3 channels for main content and 1-2 niche channels....List is getting too long
Exalted Events, Exalted TF , BMT OF Exalted , Exalted LFG...It's not needed to have all 4, and it just splits the playerbase who only pick 1 or 2 of them. -
I feel if you want to be more about the Beam Rifle, like I intend to, then you should go /Sonic. It's more of a set it and forget it type of set. Shield, toggles, Liquefy your foes then blast away until the next mob, where everything else can be more active
Rad : Anchor drops, keep blasting, or re-anchor? Spot healing when needed etc.
I say /Sonic allows for the most focus on a primary, but in trade off for not being the most diverse or active. -
Well, I rolled a Elec/Energy Dominator to have sort of a scrapper ish Dominator and to throw people on their backs ( Although Ice/Energy sounds fun as well )
I'm considering making a second dominator as well, since they do seem so varied. Either Plant/Thorn or Mind/Thorn for a more typical control heavy Dominator. I like the concept of Mind better, but it seems like everybody feels Plant is by far the best primary for dominators. -
Emperor Cole is the man. Hands down.
Give us incarnate content to fight on the side of Cole please! -
Just adding a reply here not to clutter the forum with too many " WHAT DOM SHOULD I MAKE " Threads
I am considering making a dominator for my first time, and I have narrowed my power sets to these choices, and am curious from more seasoned dom's which would be the stongest combination
I am interested in Ice Control and Electric Control mainly, and slightly Fire Control, and I am really interested in Energy Assault and Thorny Assault. -
All of my characters still run on SOs...unsure if joining a Master of TF run will be ideal haha.
-
If I came off as impolite, my apologies for that.
And thanks for the build critique, it looked like I insert a lot of unneccesary extras in a lot of my attacks.
I probably did go overboard with the recharge, I just love Seismic Smash that much wanted it up asap haha.
One further question - Is the Widow from Soul Mastery bad? The idea of having another summon alongside Lore Pets interested me, but if it's a mindless null, then I can live without it. -
No criticism or feedback at all?
-
This is my first attempt of making a build since returning for my Stone/WP Brute , any feedback or improvements would be appreciated :
Questions:
1. Will this character be study enough defensively?
2. Is there a more efficient way of slotting my attacks that may not require 6 slots, or use all 6 slots to more efficiency?
3. Is there any key stats I'm missing or lacking in?

Thanks for all the replies.
Sadly, I can't use any of my older characters from '04 as my brother and I decided to reactivate only one account, and his won the coin flip.
I think I'm just going to play them through trials and task forces, and just go with the one I have more fun playing, since it seems it's not a huge difference between ATs. -
Quote:A lot of this is not even the trial, it's just people unfamiliar with the trial. That's not something to knock the devs because "Every run had someone that didn't know how this trial was done" That's when you blame us as players for not running it as much as the other two so people can become familiar with it, instead we encourage people to stick with their bad first impression and ignore it.I've been the leader for these runs. I've tried instructing people, pleading with them, calling out the beams for those that couldn't watch the timer. None of that worked. So, this weekend, I started telling people to go sit in the hospital. Guess what? It worked. I did most this weekend with 8-10 players out during the final battle.
For the last two, I followed Arcanaville's suggestion to have only 3-4 players out (neither of us, or the other two chosen were happy about it). It was a bit of a fluke that I asked people to go to the hospital late so they stayed out of the way. Several did go the the hospital though allowing us room to move & see the pathetic excuse for a warning beam (a fuzzy, half-visible disk isn't a good warning).
If would be fair to say that I had some very well known players on this league (especially if you've been on Triumph):
Arcanaville, Blondeshell, Emerald Fusion, Tamaki Revolution, Sayaki, Taryn, Vanden, Fireflyte. I also had players that weren't as well known (if you are reading this and you were on the team, I don't think any less of you than the above players).
Nearly every run had someone that didn't know how this trial was done. I had to turn away plenty of people over the last month to keep the teams small. I couldn't get a stable, consistent team over the last month.
I've had several of these teams try to coordinate enough to get the bunker buster badge, yet nearly every time something happened to fail the badge (most often was not reading instructions). Given that I couldn't choose who I had (ie. I don't have a super group of 24 players to choose from), I did the best I could. -
Quote:We can't be as far apart on the spectrum cause of this quote. This is a MMO, not a bloody First Person Shooter or Real Time Strategy. If you want difficult, play one of those. If you want work instead of playing a game, that is what real life is for.
Some people want a challenge, to be frustrated, to overcome that challenge and frustration and bask in success in the reward of finishing it.
You are depressed with your Master of Keyes run because of what you had to do to accomplish it? To each their own. I just see that you actually had to coordinate, lead, and struggle through a trial to earn it. I don't find that bad at all. Because I'm a person who enjoys challenges, I rather take that than the opposite. Master of BAFs can be done with random teams and zero chat going on.
I like being frustrated and walking into challenges, and It's something I look for in every game I play. You don't, and that's you. Your opinion isn't correct, and neither is mine. -
Just a quick question, for a badge hunting character, is there any specific archetype that's better suited for this? I have a Brute and a Corruptor, and I'm unsure which one I should make rogue and attempt to get as many badges as I can with em. Thanks for any replies.

Quote:My only issue is this, is that people are deferring to the easiest and fastest trial just to accomplish their goals. Even if they make the trials harder to accommodate characters getting stronger, people will still just run the easiest missions for grinding purposes. But the Trials are supposed to have different levels of difficulty - they're not meant to be the same - and as we open new slots, the Trials will get harder - the Coming Storm is an even bigger threat than Tyrant and the loyalists
If BAF and Lambda were scaled up in difficulty, it wouldn't stop people from playing Incarnate content, it would just make Keyes seem like a more acceptable choice. People can throw out a lot of reasons why they avoid it, but it all boils down to it being the most difficult and time consuming of the 3. Two Emp Merits already cover the time consuming factor in i21, and whether you enjoy difficulty or not is a personal matter.
It's just my feeling if all 3 were around the same difficulty, people wouldn't outcast one of them. I have no idea how Snow Globe thinks less people will play the trials if they were tougher. I guess that speaks more about himself as a person than anything. -
Agreed with the upper post.
Also, to add. In my opinion, some heroes are more the person under the mask than the costume. Spiderman IS Peter Parker. You can't change that. If you honestly really look at it, the concept of a hero with spider powers ( And even a few of them artificial ) is not the most grandest of ideas, but Peter made it sell, and made it work.
I would rather see this person with their own person, using Spider-Man as a driving influence rather than taking the name. -
Always been partial to Defenders, and I suppose Corruptors as well by relation.
Storm Summoning would have to be a personal favorite. -
With only reading bits and pieces of what people could feel make Keyes better, in their opinion. The one change they should do to make Keyes better?
Make BAF and Lambda more on par with Keyes difficulty. -
I'll try to show up for this, sounds awesome.

While I would like to have more than 1, I still have my characters on Freedom to worry about. I don't feel I would have enough time to level multiple characters to 50, unless AE farming is prevalent on Virtue. Only downside to that is then I make a bad reputation as the guy who sat in AE panhandling free farms. Unless level doesn't dictate how you all RP then more characters become an option.

My first character I've ever made was named Frostbite V. I thought the game was fun, not the most fun, but not boring. It was just a cool game I could see myself playing for 6 months or so.
One day while playing, I met a random character named " Baby Frostbite " and we ended up grouping almost every day, thus being by far the most fun time I have ever had with the game. Leveling fast or anything didn't matter, as long as we played as a duo with whoever wanted to join with, usually a guy named Snake's Inferno.
I eventually had to cancel my subscription in 2006 for a long time as I had to focus on personal issues and football, but even when I resubscribed the first thought to my mind was wondering if she still played.
So, if @Kat Solbeck still plays and reads this, send a global friend to @Frostbite V, for being my influence in making this game my favorite MMO, and one of my favorite games I have played. -
Hey Virtue forum goers. I am considering making one character on Virtue just so I can RP with the RP'ers. The only question I have is about the population of blueside vs redside, or if one side RP's more than the other.
Thank you for any replies. -
Quote:They just know those are the types of players who will spend more money on things like that to maximize their potential fast. There definitely is some sort of gap here and I don't know what servers you play CoH on or why my experience is so radically different than yours.
Lets assume you're right. I belong 6 global channels with 2000 or more members why haven't I seen the following.
BaF forming could use more punsters.
STF forming need someone that can do standup for Recluce.
BAF forming short of observational humor for escape phase.
ITF forming looking for people with knockback powers to scatter everything all over the place.
Khan forming, looking for ethnic humor to make fun of the Nazis.
I will tell you what I have seen.
STF forming need a tank for LR.
BAF forming looking for control.
Khan forming could use debuff.
Speed ITF forming need more damage.
So when you say most of us, you mean most of who ?
Now here is a little observational food for thought, Paragon Studios with freedom, is releasing costume pieces, IO boosters, and improved IOs, IO sets, and temp costumes. The least expensive item by far are individual costume pieces and the most expensive by far are IO boosters for a full build. What does that tell you about what the developers think is important to the players ?
