  1. Something seems offcenter with customized Forcefield Bubble for Dispersion Bubble on self.
  2. I'm on Freedom and have similar issues. Though, I can get into missions sometimes, it seems like it's taking really really long to load.

I think it may have been pre-patch though, as I had a similar issue on Freedom last night around 3 or 4 in the morning as well.

Seriously, we get it already, Shadow Wail doesn't care for Super sidekicking. We didn't need to know it, it's not terribly important to anybody, but you, that it doesn't matter to you.

    Nemesis Costume?

The steampunk costume set could be a fair fit for what you're looking for.

Or if you're going for rank and file Nemesis marching band, there's a tall officer's hat. Though, I can't think off hand of any tops that quite look marching bandish enough. Though, you could do the thin stripe down the leg for pants. Hmmm, maybe the valkyrie helmet could be substituted in for their shiny helmeted lieutenants.

Or you could just go in your regular costume and pretend to be one of his hero automatons like he tries to use to discredit Manticore and Positron. Add in the occasional fake glitch, "<add witticism here> fellow citizen!"

    Manticore answered my question!
    Quote:
Question: What's up with Valkyrie’s spear? It seems odd to have an advanced technological spear just sitting around. Are there more artifacts like this around? Where did they come from?
Answer: The spear that started Valerie Kellum’s career as a hero is an artifact from the violent alternate world of War Earth, which also happens to be the homeworld of the Praetorian known as Battle Maiden. It’s very possible that there are more such weapons hidden on Primal Earth waiting to be uncovered.
    New question time:

Are there any details about space that you want to talk about? Not the moon, but further out, alien civilizations/worlds/races that aren't another dimension, cosmic entities and the like.

Heck, as excited as I may be for "Going Rogue," I'll ignore most of the interdimensional-travel aspects of it, when it comes to defining my characters. I may make characters native to that world, but few of my characters stories will actually acknowledge the travel between the worlds.

With a few exceptions, I strongly downplay or ignore stories that (aliens, interdimensional travel, time travel, etc), just as I largely ignore Marvel stories with Galacticus or the Skrulls or the Kree. They don't interest me and, in fact, frequently tend to subtract from what I enjoy. It was that way for the overarching story of City of Villains as the time travel & extradimensional nature of the overarching story became apparent. I did the quests, appreciated the storytelling, then purged all thought of it from all of my characters. It doesn't apply to them.

The rikti? The invasion defined so much of the CoH universe so its events define many of my characters as well- often the catalyst for becoming a hero. To be honest, I'm interested in seeing what GR's world is like without the rikti invasion & how some of my heroes would have turned out without it.

(As always, there are exceptions. I *do* have one "alien" and one "interdimensional" so I'm not OPPOSED to the idea, it just holds very limited interest for me.)
The mediport stuff, I can agree with you on. I like the idea of "real threats" in a superhero universe. But, have once or twice had to finagle my way around how to kill a character in-universe and have it not automatically teleport a character to a hospital.

But, why the dislike for space and other dimensions?

Other dimensions and space can be fairly open areas, that are free of canon. I can see why somebody would want to have an other dimensional character, if they wanted to bring their favorite barbarian or other fantasy based character into this world. The same usually goes for Space based heroes. That you can have hundreds of millions of worlds out there teeming with life in all it's possible variations and little to no ties to pre-existing Paragon City.

Not sure what to say, Sam- it may simply be that your predeliction towards grandiose stories has doomed you from the outset; the scale of City of Heroes simply does not lend itself very well to worlds-destroying drama, at least if you want to have your character be a 'local'.

My own characters pretty much run the gamut from one end to the other- on the one hand, my main, Energon X, originated firmly in-universe (although he's Canadian, like myself, rather than a Paragon native), and gained his powers in the time-honoured fashion of standing too close to the wrong explosion (in a S.E.R.A.P.H. lab, no less). My redside main, Mad Doctor Dingbot, on the other hand, originates form out-of-universe- he's an escaped cartoon character from a popular Paragon City children's adventure cartoon... who got into the Rogue Isles via The Television.

*waves hand* It may be that part of your difficulty is creating your characters, then attempting to shoehorn them into Paragon or the Isles. After all, if they've got massive, complicated, 'wilderness'-necessitating backgrounds, then of course they're not going to be a comfortable fit. If you take a look at the existing lore, though, and say 'what kind of stories could come out of this that I'd be interested in exploring?', you might have an easier time of it.
Exactly! If you start from something small and simple, you're more likely to fit than if you have to have your character be a goddess from this world.

I have a couple of characters that are tied in small ways to things from the Police band. One is related to Dr. Zhondervan, his grandfather was a great wizard, but he's decided to live a mundane life. It's not a lot to hang a character bio on and it gives them a reason to run around and save him every time he turns up in a radio mission. It's less likely to fall into the trap of tying a character to the Council and then, having the Devs reveal/decide that the Council have no interest in that at all.

Alternate universes are a fairly easy fix for big grandiose characters from anywhere to Paragon City.

At present, I have characters that originate from Space, that are not Kheldians. Here's the problem, what do we know about Space in the City of Heroes universe? Other than Kheldians, not much at all. Which, for somebody making their new characters is both a boon and a possible curse. Because at any time, the Devs can jump in and say, all of Space is devoid of life, except for Kheldians and some other marauding alien devourer of worlds. Where would that leave my space based characters? Space adventuring is a part of the superhero milieu, but we have done fairly little of it. Is there a reason for this?

Oh geez, I just looked at the City Scoop that you linked to. That just looks wrong.

I have to agree with Stargazer. Maybe if we can just remove images from the sigs. Or have an option that only removes images from signatures. Signatures can have actual useful information.

I see your point, as well as your wrestling analogy above that. I am very curious as to how the Devs see it.

I guess it really depends on what the side switching mechanic is going to be based on. Is it going to be a specific story arc? I assume it would be soloable. Or is it just an accumulation of good versus evil points? Or is there to be some sort of game mechanic that they need to accomplish every time? Will there be another system to make a character a spy or mercenary, where they can jump back and forth at will, and possibly remain in the supergroup/villaingroup that they want to belong to?

On the flip side, I could see villains still being "infamous" in their own way... if an ex-villain came into my shop I know I'd give him what he wanted.

It's not exactly the same, granted, but it might work...
I can kinda see that too. But, for me, the underlying idea is that it's something you gain from actions. It's notoriety of your actions that earns you those things or access to better enhancements or costume change. So, if you're a villain that's just turned hero, you might have a hard time getting respect from cops, people distrust you, scientists don't trust you enough to give you enhancements. Same goes for heroes turned villains too. Other villains don't know where you stand, so you have to earn your way up so that Arachnos trusts you enough to give you access to those enhancements etc.

All your slotted enhancements will be gone, all influence/infamy erased and nothing in your inventory will remain. No tickets, no merits, no salvage.
I can almost see them taking the influence/infamy from a character. That makes a bit of sense, or at least make the inf non-transferable. A hero turned villain shouldn't be able to take advantage of their past influence. And vice versa. They should have to earn their own infamy.

But, I don't see why they should take the enhancements away. Seems to me, that the enhancements are akin to upgrades to a Tech based character's armor or gadgets or whatever. For example, the Sandman didn't become weaker for the time that he worked as a hero. Nor did the Norman Osborne, heck, some could even argue that he became more powerful.

As to the tickets, merits and salvage? I don't know, those things are the sort of thing you'd think a person could carry on their back or whatever. Salvage that you can carry on you is somewhat limited. Granted, if you're 50 it's around 50+ pieces, but that's still a relatively small amount of material.

    As for my theory?

I think that the amount of time that your character can actually be neutral is limited to new characters and only for the first handful of levels, maybe 10 at the outside, though I'd wager on 5. There has to be a tipping point where you choose one side over the other. It just doesn't make sense for somebody to stay neutral. Walk a fine line, be a spy, be a revolutionary, be a tourist, jump from side to side, wave your arms in the air like you just don't care... Okay, maybe not that last one. But, it seems to me, that in a comic book world, there are sides, and they need to be chosen, even if it's a superficial thing that anyone can handwave away with their own backstory ideas. Also, it saves them from having to make a third marketplace.

The thing I've wanted most from power proliferation is a punchy, street fighter, slugfest set for Scrappers. But there's a possibility that's now going to be handled with MA's alternate animations, so looking forward to seeing how that works out.

Actually the armor was suppose to be more of a Roman look like the Cimorans.

[/ QUOTE ]Roman, you say? How about Briefs, no shirt(maybe whatever the leather strap chest detail called?) and barefoot, or if you have the Samurai vet reward, arm and leg guards. Maybe add a cape for that splash of color.

If you have the Valkyrie set, you can add in the Valkyrie skirt, in darker tones, as well as a big shiny helmet w/ Valkyrie mask and crest.
