I have characters based on all sorts of things. A MM based on "Much Ado About Nothing" (Beatrice), Goldilochs, characters that bare some resemblance to Mulan (a Chinese woman trying to regain family honor) and Poison Ivy (plant control.), more Shakespeare... my main is Rapunzel, for goodness sake!
Having inspiration is part of creativity, every idea comes from something else, no one lives in a vacuum. Wicked, for instance, is a creative musical, based on a creative book, based on a creative story, that was based on basic fairy tale structure.
global ignore is a good solution. -
It more that I hate outleveling a mission I have and having to go back and clean it up.
-
I took a few months off (moving sucks.) and just came back to this weird sidekicking thing and all the pretty colors.
I'm teaming more now than I was before, finding good, fast teams without having to build them myself or ***** myself out on chat channels. Just log on, receive tells and go. Red side, no less. I approve of the Super Sidekick System, and love the fact that you can still gain xp when playing below your native level. I wish that it tuned to the level of the mission, rather than the holder, so that you wouldn't have to worry about out leveling missions and arcs, but other than that, I'm finding the current state of CoX to be as good as it has been in years (and I've been in and out since I3)
Players are friendly and knowledgeable without being pretentious pricks (or if they are, they are keeping to themselves, which I approve of wholeheartedly.) leaving the game to be bright, beautiful, crime fighting, mayhem causing fun. -

unless you feel the absolute need to do everything on your way to 50

I don't feel the need to do anything on the way to 50. I like Strike/Task Forces. Other than that, its a miracle I have any 50's at all. Been here since the second anniversary and 3 50s. (and a 48 scrapper. Exciting!)
Around 60 alts, average level under 20. I suck just that much. -
I'm hearing /WP as the way to go for simplicity's sake. (Simple is good. Assuming I'm a moron is never going to take you anywhere too far from reality.)
My 48 scrapper is /WP and my brute I looooove is /WP, I wanted to try something new but the other cons all look like something I would probably screw up and then not have fun with.
Thank you very much for your help! I'm probably going to go with Ele/WP, since I have an electric RP concept. -
I haven't played a character with a crash before. Unless you count my WP scrapper but I barely notice that so called "crash". (Huh, my blue bar actually dropped, what? Oh, crash... nm... all better) So it might be interesting. Or I might hate it.
Ele/WP is going on the list, thank you!
Are shields that finiky? They look cool and I want to play with that, but I know I have limited patience for fine tuning performance. If I'm in the mood to crunch numbers and hunt set IOs, I have three mains to do that with. -
I have altitis. I have a DB/WP brute that I can't log into without playing at least 5 more missions than I had intended. I have deleted an elec/elec because I simply couldn't deal with it.
I want to make another brute, but I want it to be different than the ones I have, but fun enough to be loveable, and thus, fun enough for me to actually play.
I am not an elite brute player. This is an alt that I'm not going to spend time and influence on going after set bonuses to make playable, I need something that is sturdy and able to kill out of the box with common IOs. And I hate how stone looks.
What are my options? -
Storage fluctuates as needs change honestly. My SG leaves everything open to everyone, but we're a small group of RL friends, mostly, so there are no security concerns.
Currently we have an abundance of salvage racks that need to be pulled out (someone was going after the crafting badges and needed the space), probably going to end up at 4 total. 3 for IO salvage, 1 for costume bits.
6 enhancement tables, but I want to get it down to five. SOs (otherwise known as "cash") level 15 IOs, level 50 IOs, set IOs, and 2 tables of level 35 IOs.
I'm down to 4 inspiration bins and desperately trying to get people to use them. Including begging while on task forces. -
I don't know if I'll be home by then, but if I am, I'm in for Posi, Citadel or Psyche. @Rapunzel.
-
I am rarely aorund on weekends, but this is just a fantastic idea. Keep up the great work!
-
Consider joining a channel or two (VU2009 and Virtue LFGAlpha or the badge hunting channels are good bets) recruiting for task forces goes on constantly.
-
I have this insane plan to get that accolade on all of my characters. I can be talked into running one of the classic six TFs at almost any time, and start a Positron about once a week.
Positron is a very special task force. I suggest 4 players, over level 30, two drink minimum for best chances of success. -
I had a lot of fun. I think the timing worked our well enough because even on the other side of the world, unless you have a 15 hour work day (which sucks for so many more reasons than missing out on some monsters) you had an hour or two to see the chaos. And an hour or two was all that was needed to get a few giggles and a few badges, and then get sick of the massive, massive lag.
The worst for me was a zombie attack and GMs in Atlas 1 on Virtue. Between the AE farmers and the fighters, I never knew if any of my powers were going off. Other zones were fun, even if the big fights got a little laggy - that was not.
All in all, good times. I got screenshots of Eochai dancing on top of a tram singing "I'm to Sexy for my shirt", which I will treasure (or will haunt me) for the rest of my days. -

I suspect the main reason for the death of the Vault was two thirds of the veteran playerbase reacting to it by logging on and opting out within 5 minutes of it being announced.

I may have taken 15 minutes, but I think I had to work late that day. -
I want the search function to search on level, custom/in game baddies, and the presence of kill alls, EB/AVs.
I want a search function that searches. -
I would love a proof read of Arc #44337, Avian Escape.
You should be able to solo it in under an hour with anything higher than 35. Thanks! -
I adore feedback.
I don't care if you rate my arc, but please, send me feedback. I'm in the process of tweaking patrol placement and have returned to tweaking mob balance because of insightful feedback. Love it. -
[ QUOTE ]
That might be useful, but what might help more is a more detailed feedback: rate the arc in stars for difficulty, story, and design, and average the three for the final rating.
Also, it might be nice if we could access some information such as, "35% of players finished mission 1. 16% of players completed mission 2. This mission was rated 4.3 stars by Scrappers, and 0.9 stars by Controllers."
[/ QUOTE ]
I would kill for this level of feedback as a designer, even if it wasn't public. I want to know what people ran my arc with, what they found too easy, what they found too hard, what they found boring and what they found fun.
For instance, my boyfriend's single target focused scrapper wants a harder final EB. My controller does not. -
Title: Avian Escape
Arc ID: 44337
Faction: Neutral - player driven morality (there's aren't a whole lot of choices, but your character can make them)
Length: "Long" in that it can be soloed in under an hour. 4 missions.
Enemy group: Liberal Applied Biology (custom)
Description: Moderately serious with snarky flavor - exploring and thwarting a Crey rival. EB at the end with optional allies, one of whom is useful. (the other one I can't get to help as much as I'd like.)
The story is complete, but I am interested in comments on mob balance (and may be adding more/heavier hitting ranged) and any typos or text improvements. Much of the information is currently in mob backgrounds and clue texts, the "upfront" story is fairly simple.
Please, please, please use the feedback! I promise I won't bite! -
Title: Avian Escape
Arc ID: 44337
Difficulty: Easy; Recommend level 30+ (that's what I've tested it with, lower level is possible, but I don't guarantee anything.)
Number of EB/AVs: 1, optional allies available
Story Type: Moderately serious, or at least played straight, flavor text and mission contact are meant to amusingly sarcastic.
Mission Count: 4
Estimated Play Time: Soloable in under an hour

I picked up a shelve copy and just got home but now the plaync account site isn't working T3T

Speaking of this, what's causing the delay in coming back up? Its two hours over the window. Did we break something but good? -
Amazon people, mine was delivered the next day on super saver shipping.
Two thumbs up! Will Amazon again! -

Maybe it would be possible to allow people to upload "300KB" of arcs, rather than three arcs of no more than 100KB each.
It would let people have more than three arcs, or arcs larger than 300KB, and yet maintain the same limits that we have now.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like this idea a lot.
And I have one published arc that hit maybe 70%. (shameless plug - Avian Escape) I just like the idea of being able to use "our" space however we want. I would say that Dev's Choice or HoF would only gain the player 100 kb of additional space.
Then we could see how creative we could get with the smallest space possible (I have 5 arcs in my 300 kb...) as well as make some really flamboyant enemies (10 minions, half a dozen lts, 4 bosses, an EB and a couple AVs, all with auras and costumes and -WEEEEEEE!)
Unleash the creativity! -
Plant control suuuuucks to go up against. I learn fast which mobs have that set and they go to the absolute top of the kill list.
I'm trying to balance for solo rather than teams, on the assumption that most people running arcs are going to be solo/duos rather than teams. -
I have the same issue with my DB/WP flying ally!
She's based on one of my characters, and is an optional ally placed to help with an EB fight. And she sucks. She'll stand right next to the guy I'm trying to kill, and smile sweetly, and look bored. Its supposed to be her at the beginning of her career, so she's not supposed to be an uber fighting machine... but she should pitch in!
