I always thought they put in way too many. They didn't learn from having many dead servers so why would they limit AE buildings? Anyway, they managed to divide and thin the players AGAIN and now teaming is even more difficult.
-
There is way too much garbage on MA to really find much good stuff. The DEV's choices don't impress and it seems a ton of weak missions have high stars probably because friends have been rating for friends (in a bias/positive kind of way).
Anyway, when MA went live they really should have wiped all ratings clean and started fresh. Mistake one. They also should have 3 MA buildings a side plus RWZ and Pocket D. Too many buildings so people flood to one area. Seems like Vills hit Cap and heroes FLOOD Atlas.
In my 1.5 years here, there have been very few good additions to the game. MA is one of them but it was poorly implemented. The rating system not being wiped clean is one of the many issues. -

Didn't they give the other game for free like 4 years later? Or almost 4 years? I really doubt you would have waited that long. Give me a break. You could have bought the other version for $10 when NCS gave you the other side for free. I call BS.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really don't remember how long it was but it doesn't really matter. Either it should of been this way from the start meaning it would of been an free update insted of a paid expansion or it should still be the same as when CoV first came out, requireing both CoH and CoV to play both CoH and CoV.
Technically it could probly be considered faulse advertiseing because they told us it was required to buy the expansion in order to play it then they changed that so that now you didn't have to buy it.
Basically they made us belive that we needed to buy something that was going to be free. It's about as bad as bottled water companies but worse. At least with water you know you can get it for free before you buy it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry but after 4 years (approx) the expansion was not likely going to sell. I actually saw CoV at Big Lots for $5 recently. It's depreciation. I see your point but the real world does not work the way you would suggest.
You do have a point but CoV and CoH are old games now. Imagine how annoyed we'll all be if CO and DCUO wipe out the game. That's life. These things happen. Life is NOT always fair.
NCSoft is trying hard to compete with the new games. They did ok with i14 but MA has a lot of problems right now. They didn't plan it too well - great tool/feature though.
It seems the CoX people realize they better answer each competitors big item with their own. I am suspecting we'll be going ROGUE in Sept but who knows. It's just a game. I would like to stay with CoX but if CO comes out before ROGUE I will head to the new game. I have history and would love to stay but CoX has had weak updates, repetitive content and large gaps between new stuff. Not good enough. -

Hello, I beta tested COV but have not tried any of the expansions before.

There were no expansions before CoV, so it would be impossible for you to have done so. Kinda hard to try expansions that don't exsist.

I did not create a second copy of COH. before I started the test proceedings...I, know, have to d/l a new copy of COH to play the normal game...correct?

[/ QUOTE ]
You don't need to download a second copy of CoH all you needed to do was upgrade your exsisting account if you had one if not then you could still play the game without CoH but you would of only had access to the villain side of the game however that was recently changed (big kick in the butt to anyone who bought both versions to play both versions before this) so now you only need one version of the game to play both sides.
Speaking of which if they're going to do that again I want to know ahead of time because I'm not going to buy the going rogue expansion if they're going to pull that again, I'll just wait till I can side switch for free. If they're actully going to require you to buy it and CONTINUE to inforce that you need to buy the exspansion to play the expansion then I'll spend the money on it.
That pissed me off when CoH and CoV became avalible to everyone who didn't spend the money to buy both games seperately. (Good vs Evil edition exscluded from this. I'm only refering to accounts who ONLY have CoH or ONLY have CoV but can still play both.) I feel like I waisted money on a game I could of got for free at a later date and I would of waited for that later date had I known it was going to happen.

I am hoping you guys are consumed by making NEW stuff. I don't get why people beg to have the same powers on all ATs. Make them unique and individual. Please no more adding the same stuff in a new wrapping...please...I beg you.
-
I really hope ROGUE adds a completely new angle to this game. DIFFERENT powers, tile sets and ATs. Much like VILLS added new ATs (kinda) and that type of thing. I am assuming it will be a new angle and all fresh, new stuff. If not then I will have to pass on it. I am 100% sure I'll pass on it if it isn't out before Sept 1

Ironically, it's still better content than 90% of MA content
[/ QUOTE ]
I could go to sleep on my keyboard and write better content than 90% of whats in MA
[/ QUOTE ]
And yet, that stuff still gets 5 stars
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, the MA is a cool feature but there is way too much crap in it. I am sure friends and SGs rate each others material 5 stars. The system is open to abuse.
The DEVS really should have wiped all ratings to 0 when i14 went live. That might have helped weed out some of the crap. -
I15 is yet another light issue with not much appeal. I14 has been the only big deal to come out since I have been playing (joined after i11).
I know the DEV team was minimal for a bit but they still charged us full sub. price during that time. Now with a rather large staff the game seems to be producing new stuff a bit more frequently. Unfortunately most of the new stuff is lame
The new costume patterns are weak. -

Good name!
I think this thread is essential.
How about i15: Here's Another Light Issue & If You Want Anything Good You Will Have To Pay For It!
-
Issue 15: Arriving Whenever It Arrives and Not Anytime Soon!
There have been some brilliant titles so I will offer some others.
Issue 15: You've Been Waiting For The Great Things We Promised and You're Going to Keep on Waiting!
Issue 15: We're trying to convince you we're not going to only sell costume pieces so here are a few left over junk looks to appease you all.
Issue 15: Champions Online Is Going To Kick Our Butts!
LOL
-
I hope they add some new ORIGINAL ATs, all new tiles sets, new epic powers and costume creator v.2. Most of that was in that old survey list and I hope it's happening with ROGUE.
-
No more prolif. Keep each AT unique - or as unique as you can now. Everyone having the same thing is lame and reduces the desire to try various ATs.
The MA really shows this. When creating toons in MA we can picks a variety of powers. Looks like a lot but not really. Can we say redundant much? I knew we could -
I just hope this comes out before CHAMPS and has lots of new stuff. This game needs new innovations added and I hope the expansion brings that.
I think they fail to realize adding the same mission (tile set, mobs etc) does not make a game rich in things to do. It's called being repetitive. Add to that some lacking update issues and CoX might be in trouble if ROGUE doesn't deliver. Here's hoping for the best!

will they be upping the lvl cap to 60 maybe ??? oh please please please!!!!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Give this idea a rest. Seriously. Raising the level cap...pure dumb. -
I think for all of them the Spongebob Squarepants theme is appropriate
-
This game has many issues with it's missions. Just adding to the list...
I hope with the new staff we get to see something fresh and exciting. Unfortunately it seems like they may have missed the mark with ROGUE. Using re-hashes of what we have seen and just making the enemies 'opposites' of existing heroes/vills is pretty weak. This was an opportunity to go fresh and exciting. -
It's funny to see such heated debates when we hardly know a thing about the new systems in ROGUE.

can't throw items in the environment, run up walls etc) and the list goes on.
[/ QUOTE ]
I bet a lot of things on that list, like running up walls or running on water, are things the devs have in fact said they could do but are simply "not worth our time". That was the case with running on water and running up walls.
Well if they're worth it to you, and it seems they are, and other games will give them to you, I agree that moving on is the best action you can take.
I also agree Day Jobs was a waste of a feature concept.
Good luck whatever you end up deciding.

If I remember correctly, I think it was reported the CoX engine does not have the ability to have us throw pieces of the environment or run up walls or have various weather situations (I could be wrong but that is what I rem.).
The engine is old and it is showing. Not the DEVS fault but that is the way it goes.
Like I said before, I can live without those 'lesser' items but what is not cool is a lack of decent new material. I have not played most of the 'content' but that is because it's the same tile set and opposition ALL the time. No thanks.
I don't know if the DEVS take much of our desires into consideration but, to me, it seems like they do not and that is their option. -
To the OP - good job on the post and well thought out. I disagree with your suggestions to do things in a manner you see fit. For example suggesting people go quietly if they are going to CO and not throw a fit. Well, I agree with the 'fit' part while others may not.
Each person has the option to post the way they desire as long as it isn't too obnoxious or mean etc.
I do enjoy CoX but it seems you have a strong like for it. That's great. I prefer to voice my likes and dislikes and hope the product turns out to be better in the end, partly due to the fact that the forumites made their desires known.
I have noted that I am likely leaving when the other super games come out and I see nothing wrong with that. I will not pay for more than one sub. to a game and I am not really a gamer and CoX may lose my business in the end. I think this game has tons of pros but the cons are there. The main ones are the repetitive tiles sets, very slow updates (it's better now but is that the norm or just for now?), weak engine (can't throw items in the environment, run up walls etc) and the list goes on.
Honestly, I would be happy if this game gave us good, regular updates every few months. I could live without the rest. I have been here almost 18 months and Architect was the only decent update. Day Jobs was a huge waste and the VEATS was small.
Anyway, good OP but I must disagree with you on a few points. -

It is pointless to up the level cap. That is just a weak idea - it doesn't solve the issue which is lack of end game.
If Rogue repeats one map/tile set from the current game I am likely done here

How about NEW powersets?!?! What an idea! Ones that aren't already being used by other ATs! Maybe so we are tempted to change and try other ATs! Maybe? Just maybe? Golly gee willackers...could we dare to dream in such a manner?!
-
I really hope they don't flood us with zones in this expansion. CoH has so many dead zones even on the busiest servers. Villains is a bit better with fewer zones so I thought they were figuring it out. Then came the MA - too many of them and the players are all over the place.
It's really tough finding teams on a regular basis these days. I hope Going Rogue has some pretty cool innovations or this game is toast -

While you've been focused on what's been changed in a negative way, you've missed what's changed for the positive. It's still 90/10 in the positive for the majority of the players. It's why the game is still active after 5 years.
Devs are allowed to change things after it's gone live. To expect otherwise is folly. They don't always get it right out of the gate, and they've buffed a lot of things as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sometimes what you care about is what gets nerfed, though.
For instance, even if they got the PVP changes right(which it
seems from afar that they haven't yet,) I wouldn't care,
because that has little to nothing to do with what I play the
game for.
For other players, though, even though 90% of the game
might be improved, the 10% of PVP is what they cared about,
and being ruined for them, they're gone.
For me right now, it's the abysmal handling of the MA that
keeps pushing me down. It's just one thing after another
being taken out of it, with no sign until possibly I15, of any
changes for the better, or anything being placed back.
Sure, I'm interested in other things. The Going Rogue
expansion has me perked, and I like what I hear coming
for Dominators. But the MA is the biggest part of the game
I've been interested in since I first started playing, so all the
negative removals and changes make me feel worse and
worse about the game as a whole.
[/ QUOTE ]
Kinda have to agree. They put something out and then people find loop holes and exploits and then they tell you they're not only changing that (which is fine) but they are taking away what you obtained. I never farmed the MA and was more into checking out the missions and making them. I was sick of the COX content - old and tired and the new stuff was more of the same.
Anyway, I don't care about these changes but it is concerning when they take stuff away from you because the item was exploitable. Doesn't quite seem right to me. -
What's the point of starring each others arcs? You should review them as you see fit. There are many crappy arcs out there that have very high ratings. It's misleading and kinda ruins the feature cuz u end up starting crappy missions. Waste of time!
