    anyone bailing?

There was a huge number of characters in the "basic costume" from the character creator screens in all of the instances of AP I saw last night.

Apparently, that's how people were reserving names, not realizing that you can go into the Character Creation, enter a name at the bottom, check to see if it's available and reserve it while you take your time with creating the Costume and customizing the powersets.

Yes, Texas Justice now also exists on Exalted. He'll probably stay a fairly low level character. I'll likely only log into that server for Events.

Make sure he changes the Game password, not the Master Account password. That one doesn't fix it. And sometimes you have to wait 10-15 minutes for it to accept it.

    WB.

You can't change your forum name yourself.

Send a PM to someone on the Community Team and they should be able to assist you as long as no one else is using that name.

Avatea, Beastyle, 7deCouer, Freitag, and ZCommunityManagerAndIStillWontSpellHisNameRight (Community Manager, easy to find his name in the Community Digest).

I know I have some characters that would really 'work' better as a different powerset combo, or maybe a different AT, but they also have something like the 1st aniversary badge. Something like that always seems to make me not quite want to delete the character to reroll it.
I have a character that I would use this on in a heartbeat if it let us keep the badges.

I rolled her as a Villain with the full intention of her switching to full hero. I hate the secondary that I picked however and would love to reroll using the same name and basic concept but starting as a Hero and with a different secondary powerset.

The thing that keeps me from rerolling is the event badges she has.

I may eventually remake her, but I'll cringe due to the lost badges.
  6. Yep, it's the apostrophe. That's why I linked to the Known Issues.

Hopefully that will be resolved Soon™.
  7. What are the characters names, starting zone and current alignment? If you don't want to say openly on the forums (since some might try to claim the names to be mean) send me a PM and I'll take a look at the names to see if it's one of the Known Issues.
  8. Logged in a hero that had been parked in Outbreak. Ran through the tutorial, got the badge, selected Back Alley Brawler in Galaxy City, GC loading screen appeared, I loaded into GC standing below the steps leading to BAB, got a pophelp notification and immediately got the AP loading screen then loaded into AP.

    Mine didn't.
  10. I recently installed a new script at home that deals with font colors and sizes on my home computer. Guess I'll need to look at the forums there to find out how they look. May have to adjust that script or remove it.

The links you provided have nothing to do with the Internet Privacy Act.

The first link is to information about the Data Privacy Act of 1997. If you follow the links on that page to see the Bill Summary and Status you will find that the Last Major Action was "House committee/subcommittee actions" and the Status is "Subcommittee Hearings Held". In other words, it didn't get past the subcommittee.

The second link is for the Federal Internet Privacy Protection Act of 1997. Again, following the Bill Summary and Status link on that page you will find that the Last Major Action was that it was "Referred to House Subcommittee" and the Status is "Referred to Subcommittee on Government Management, Information and Technology". Again, this means it didn't get past the subcommittee.

The third link is to a website for an Attorney in California where he discusses Privacy issues and Internet usage. Nowhere on that page or the linked pages does it list any Federal laws such as the Internet Privacy Act you talked about in your first post.

Perhaps instead of reading the links I gave to sites debunking the myth of the Internet Privacy Act signed by Bill Clinton you might want to try actually reading the sites you linked to and the links on those pages instead to see what they really say (especially that third link to the site of a California attorney).

EDIT: Smersh, ScottyB and baron_inferno already beat me to it. Guess I should have finished reading the thread before replying. Ah well, looks like we all made the same points.
  12. I copied everything but the EXE files, the chat logs, screenshots and character folders over from my Beta install so that I could make sure I got the qt stuff.

Since my normal download speed with the launcher is under 50, I didn't want it taking forever.

No problems simply launching the game from there.

The only oddity is that the launcher shows that the game was last updated around a month ago (not at home so can't remember exact date). Probably whenever the last Live update was.
  13. I guess I'll test this after I get home. I have a few parked in Outbreak and one in Breakout.

If the heroes are still in Outbreak, the fun test will be when they finish and get the option of where to start. I'll try selecting Galaxy City as my starting zone.
  14. The headstart is on the Live servers, not on the Beta servers.

The Beta servers are currently closed to the public.
  15. Also, the dots signifying server load are not accurate. They are making those do variable things in the background in order to get the Server List to switch around. You may find one of the lowest pop servers listed with red dots when it really is a light load.

This was part of the workaround solution, so pay the server load dots no attention for now.
  16. They are still working on this from what I gather.

The workaround for now is that if the server you want is not visible, log out and then log back in. They are making the Server List vary what servers are shown, although your last server will still be in the top slot. This may require several log in/log out repeats to get it to show the server you want, but it's at least a temporary workaround until they can fix it properly.
  17. We'd still have some of the problems Morgan described if we did it that way seebs in that it would take up even more of the screen real estate at the top of the page.

As for the use of the term Free Verse, I thought at first it was the name of the add-in and didn't realize you were just calling it that as a descriptor.

I still think it has to do with the changes they are making to try to allow limited forum access to particular forum sections such as this one.

    Fixed
    Thank you for the fix.

I'm glad it wasn't the fix my neighbors dog got when they last took him to the vet.

  20. From what I can see, this appears to be a way for Free and Premium players to be able to post in certain parts of the forums, such as the Gameplay / Technical Issues and Bugs forums.

I think Free Verse is an add-on for vBulletin to allow posting by non-members in specific forum sections or to allow posting by restricted members in specific forum sections.

In this case, I'd guess restricted members with Free and Premium accounts being those restricted cases.

EDIT: In my case, I see it as follows:

City of Heroes > English > Development >
Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs
    Forum converted to Free Verse
  21. Took about 10 minutes or so for mine to allow me to log on (once I got to a computer that was able to access the NCSoft account management pages).

Thanks for the tip EG. Had a friend PM the OCR team with a link to this thread.

The privacy act clearly states that no company or individual has the right to enter your computer system without express permission from the system owner. Any attempt to do so without written, signed, and dated consent is a violation of this law. So NCSoft purely putting it into a EULA is unenforceable and may actually result in several litigation's being filed against the company. (Not saying it will but that it could)

The only actual legal way for them to do what they are trying to do is from their end and must be done on the server.

I suggest everyone here read up on the Internet Privacy Act you might learn a thing or two.

Again I'm not discrediting NCSoft for wanting to stop exploits and other hacks, I am merely stating that they cannot force you to give them access to your system just because you play their game and as I said before any litigation the company might file against a individual would not hold up in any court.
    Bwahahahahahahaha.

You may want to read up on it yourself.

    It's a hoax.

    It's still a hoax.

    Yep, still a hoax.

Well, if it was a bug it'd be difficult to report as such.
Not really. There was a whole section of the Beta forums devoted to Bug reports.

Also, at the time this was happening, several of the QA people were talking to us in the game, including Alpha Wolf.

So no, it wasn't difficult to report it as a bug. Getting a definitive answer as to whether or not it was actually a bug was what I was unable to get confirmation on.

    Game credits?

I found a site wiThe most recent list of credits that I've seen were on the Going Rogue Complete Collection package.

I haven't seen a Credits section within the game since it was released in 2004.

EDIT: I found a site with the credits from Going Rogue. It appears to be what I saw on the box.
