I totally want both a Bats primary and a Tarps secondary now. Your top tier pet would be Batman, then you could lay down some canvas while he beats everything into submission. It would be glorious.

So I'm supposed to just deal with missions taking 20 minutes longer than usual? Ok then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or solo. But I've only rarely had gross amounts of poorly managed knockback add that much time to a mission. It's hardly ever bothered me even when lumbering around with a stone tank. And most of those rare instances involved kins with Repel rather than, say, any Energy Blast users, PBs, Stormies, Bots MMs, or FFers.

And I rarely dip into MMs myself and obviously can't speak for anyone else who picks them, but I usually pick them for the pulse rifle. If there were a full pulse rifle set for Corruptors or better yet Blasters I would take it there instead.

I second this mockery of "pain"!
  5. Like the the Spines options. Hrm. I may stay around long enough to play around with these options despite giving the bulk of my attention to an upcoming game.

I remember the good Doc fondly. And his flies. Whatever happened to him?

Man, I was just thinking today that it'd been far too long since I beat up Doc Vahz. I always liked that mission.

I want to PvP someone on test who has a Fire/WP. I challenge you now with my Fire/Regen Super Scrapper!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good luck with that. It seems none of the flaming /regen haters want to step up and defend their precious /wp set. Really, this debate has less backing then the /DA sucks debate. But for kicks, ill challenge you with my fire/fire

    [/ QUOTE ]

Regen is better than WP in pvp, but at this point pvp is VERY different than pve, ridiculously so imo. One of WP's best toggles, rttc, is rendered virtually useless by any mez attack. That alone creates a large gap in performance. What the devs did with pvp is... I can't think of a word that adequately describes how ridiculous it is, lol.

    [/ QUOTE ]

PvP and PvE aren't very different in Arena matches on the test server when you're fighting a fire/regeneration scrapper. Hint Hint

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except for the part where AI and people move and react differently, which becomes important when small AoE auras are involved.

    3) Corruptors will only have one shield at most and they will use it at the beginning and maybe during a lull before an AV or something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's true. My Dark/Dark Corruptor doesn't have any shields.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
    really?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup. I like fighting Maestro and occasionaly doing that TF that ends up in the Volcano (even though it has a disappointing conclusion) but I hate the zone and most of the missions I've been on there.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Tonight was a hoot, not least due to every team I was on but one expecting a level 9, 10 or 11 Tank to tank level 53s. LOL!

"Erm.... I think we need another tank. Keep the one we have now, but you can't expect a level 9 to tank 53s, c'mon have a heart. We need a 50."

"We're all auto-SKed, we'll be fine." *SLEDGEHAMMER TO THE FACE of the level 9....!*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those are exactly the sorts of teams my 49 Spines/DA Toggle-Man-inspired Scrapper has been painfully playing pseudo-tank on. The tank runs in on the first mob expecting to tank and gets smushed by the alpha, and from then on I end up leading the charge and hoping not to faceplant when I absorb the alphas.

These days I'm even happy to get on a team doing Striga missions just to not be on an AE team. And I hate Striga.

It'd be like making katana a primary for blasters, and having 1 or 2 melee attacks and the rest of them based around throwing the sword. It just doesn't make sense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It makes perfect sense to me, but then I'm a fan of wuxia. I could also go for flying paper talisman attacks.
  13. ...that wasn't at the behest of a team doing my missions.

I'm usually content to play on Heroic solo. Indeed, with some of my characters I wish I could go a bit lower than that due to danger and/or the time it takes to chew through HPs. Heck, even on other video games I almost always go for the easiest setting.

Recently, while playing my DM/SR scrapper who'd just hit 24 or so, I was surprised to find myself bumping it up to Rugged. And even more surprised to find that even at that setting it hasn't been that difficult or tedious. A stark contrast to most other characters I play. Even the MA/Regen Scrapper I've had for some time.

I feel like someone's been keeping this secret from me, somehow, and not at all like I've been utterly oblivious to all the signs and portents.

    Dumb Moments...

    [ QUOTE ]
I ran into a tree once, with my head... running at full speed from a girl that was trying to kiss me, when I was like 10. True story. It knocked me out for an hour and I woke up in the Nurse's office.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And from that moment on you became catastrophically attracted to the idea of ramming other people headlong into objects. Now everything makes sense.
  15. I don't like all the paperwork, so to speak. I'm a rather passive person who doesn't like to organize/start things. Just ask my roleplaying group who are always trying to get me to run games to little avail.

In game I invariably claim to be allergic to stars, and if someone passes it to me I will often quit the team citing said allergy. I'm generally not picky about teaming - I'm often perfectly happy to duo, even. But I'm not the guy to recruit people or get/start the missions. I'm just along for the ride.
  16. I've tanked some 52 boss farms now and again with my Spines/Dark Toggle Man inspired build. Either because there was no tank or because the tank was a timid and squishy lowbie. Of course, between Quills and the three foe-affecting auras in DA I can occasionally pick up aggro even if there's an active tank around. It's quite painful and I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

Of course, with normal spawns it's a lot better as they get affected by the Fear and Disorient. I bet with Dark Regen and some better slotting it'd be a great pseudo-tank for run-of-the-mill teaming at least.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Numerically, top tier Katana/Regeneration and Katana/Willpower builds get similar survivability scores in my spreadsheet when soloing a one or a few enemies without temps or inspirations. Willpower pulls ahead when surrounded by enemies to fuel Rise to the Challenge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, they're about the same except when Willpower is better?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Whoa. Hold the phone. You are playing a Dark Armor character... and you skipped Dark Regeneration? How does that even work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a Toggle Man inspired build and Dark Regeneration is a click power, so obviously it does not have it. With 17 or so toggles running simultaneously I can tell you it works very tediously, but I'm level 49 (and a third of the way from there to 50) after approximately a year and a half of playing it off and on.

I'm debating whether or not to use the alternate build option to create a more useful Spines/Dark build after I hit 50 with it. But I'm so close to accomplishing 50 with the build that I can't turn back now.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
To add insult to injury, they have a recharge slow as well, so they're nuking Dark Regen's recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That *is* nasty. I didn't notice it, of course, since I lack the power, but I can see how it'd really suck.
  20. I recently took a trip into the Shadow Shard or whatever it's called just for kicks and tracked down a group of -3 eyeball minions with my Spines/Dark Armour scrapper. Now, this is a Toggle Man inspired build so it doesn't exactly lack defensive abilities. It's not the toughest character on the block but I wouldn't expect any group of -3 minions to pose a threat until I ran into this group of eyes and they killed me disturbingly fast for -3 minions.

Do these things do unresistable damage or something?

Dude, for this feature, I want to have your baby.

I told you BaB: give them an inch, and they'll be after your children next.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Looking one mixed metaphor in the mouth is worth two birds with one stone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, you can lead a horse to the bush, so you can have your cake and bite the early bird that feeds you the worm, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    o.O what???

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Give them an inch and they'll take a mile" being modified led to the mixed metaphor comment that was at its heart a mix-up of "looking a gift horse in the mouth", "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush", and "kill two birds with one stone."

That naturally led to a more complex mix-up in reply featuring:

"You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink"
"you can't have your cake and eat it, too"
"the early bird gets the worm"
"don't bite the hand that feeds you"
"give a man fire and he'll be warm for a night; set a man on fire and he'll be warm for a lifetime"

And something about a bush that may have been going back to the "bird in the hand" adage.
  22. Counting up my current selection wouldn't be a very good view of my most created archetype given the number of characters I've deleted over the years to make room for new creations.

I started out mostly making tanks with a few scrappers and defenders mixed in. Then changes happened that killed my main tanks and scrapper, and I moved on to mostly defenders. I usually avoided controllers because their primary and secondary sets just don't often mesh well conceptually in my view.

More recently I've developed a more even spread of all 5 basic heroic archetypes. I even have a pretty high level Controller. But as far as villainous basic ATs go, I've only had any success playing Corruptors.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I just want to take a second to thank you guys for being so positive and excited about this feature that's consumed so much of my life for so long. It's been a very long haul and tremendous amount of work from many people on the team. Your excitement about this feature is making it so much easier for me to continue to be excited about it, and that's making it a lot nicer to get through the final stretches of finishing this issue up and into your hands. I can't speak for the other people who've done a tremendous amount of work on this feature as well, but for me personally...it's a huge deal.

The handful of non-glowing responses I've seen have been very reasonable and more in the realm of disappointed but still understanding. For that I'm exceedingly grateful.

So thanks for staying positive and constructive, it makes reading the forums so much easier and working on this game so much more rewarding.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heck, even *I* think it's a great change and an issue to look forward to and there's a good chance I won't even be around to see it in action. I truly applaud the effort that must've gone into it.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
When in its prime REGEN was AMAZING. . .that unfortunately got itself NERFED. Then the complaints rolled in, and they tweaked, and tweaked it till it is the Regen "click to live" set we all (old) timers love to hate, and you young COX "New" Breed Regen players think is awesome, "IF" you can manage it well. And yes it does take more to use than just "I"m hurt I'll heal!"

Here is the underlineing problem with the WAY Regen works now. . . It doesn't. That's a period at the end of that statement. For you 4 AV's at one timers showing us it does, you are only showing that YOU are what works not the REGEN. You didn't do that by standing there and letting your body regen the damage you took. You double stacked +def (1st of all) and secondly YOU are really AWESOME with that set, you know it well, and probably use it better than any other person around right now. BUT, like I said YOU make that set good, Regen doesn't make it good. Also, it's a huge misnomor. It isn't REGEN it's Click to Heal/Self Empathy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. I chose Regeneration way back when for my immortal martial artist as a good way to simulate the hands-off inexhaustibility and regeneration exhibited by various kinds of immortals. That sort of utility got ripped out of Regeneration and it *is* pretty much a Self-Empathy set now. And my Regen character got pretty well shelved largely for those changes (and somewhat due to Phase Shift changes and an aesthetic change to Whirlwind that seemed to come with the ragdoll physics). He's been languishing in his 30s since then, rarely played.
  25. More importantly, a "none" option for ears so they're not annoyingly sticking out when they're supposed to be covered with a mask.
