The late night and beered up Ted is somewhat upset to see so many people (including regular forum goers) say how they would like to be part of something epic and fun like this, despite the fact that people like (and especially) Omega MCX take the time and effort to plan epic fun tasks like Rikti Rage and Robot Ramapge with at least a fortnights notice on this and other supergroups forums.

I don't lurk about (or post) on the main forums so much (until recent joblessness) but when I do have a butchers I at least have a look to see if someone has something epic planned on the (in my case) Defiant forums and try to say ill lend a body to whatever is going on.

As much as I'd like to be playing a game where upon logging in I would get an invitation to take down a dropship or a glut of robots in kings row, I appreciate I'm playing one with a relatively small population which seems to be playing second fiddle to the EPIC antics of our colonial cousins in the Americas even from when I first started (way back in april 2005)

*We do have epic evenings and *we do fight over 10 Kronos Titans in kings row then go on to slay as many GMS as we can find followed by an "outnumbered but never outgunned" attack on Hami and we do advertise the fact not only on the forums but on the major chat channels and major Supergroups Forums. *we do arrange a "pointless" attack on the Ritki dropships just to see if we can drop one and people are even as we speak planning something pointlessly fun and no doubt epic to mess about with over Christmas, just because we can..

I for one will be taking the time to join in and not lamenting the fact that "nothing happens" over here after the fact.

p.s. Im not trying to have a go at anyone I'm just upset that so many people can become jealous of the americans when we can do cool fun stuff like this too if only people put the same effort into searching for fun events as they do to bickering and being grumpy

Defiant took down a dropship on Sunday, thanks to Omega MCX organising it

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It was great fun
Edit We almost got one on the Saturday on Villains
    Defiant FTW

    [/ QUOTE ]

Was as much fun if not more that the Robot Rampages that Omega MCX has also been so kind to oranise and equally epic

And wasnt it two of the things?

And another awesome video well done Samuraiko.

    Gratz!

Gratz again to Scary, Nice to be there for someone's first 50.

Also, that's what guides are about. Go figure. If you know what the set does, don't expected to come to the guide to learn something new about the powers and all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're not seriously trying to defend this terrible guide are you? Having said that I have learnt something even after all the time I've played my Illusion controller I never knew that
    [ QUOTE ]
re: Deceive Unfortunately, Bosses+ won't get the effect, so Minions and Lts you can only use it on. Also, you won't get any XP for a enemy defeated using Deceive, so don't do it when a AVs on low health!

    [/ QUOTE ]

My troller must be bugged since deceive has worked fine on many Bosses, EB's and AV's including such beauties as Clockwork King & Dr Aeon.

I've found that writing a "Basic" guide requires just as much attention to detail and skill as a complex one, you need to cover the important parts accurately and with the minimum of verbage.
I'm sorry I've not been able to just ignore this like I would usually but for some reason its just got me goat, as someone who enjoys reading other players opinions and guides on powersets I have/fancy having this just irritates, it helps no-one.

Not trying to have a go its a friday after all here have a beer *passes out booze*.

Just spotted this on the US forum and thought I'd share:

    [ QUOTE ]
Prestige Refunds: The programming team has set up a refund system for all base plots, rooms and items. As soon a player loads into a base, that base will automatically refund the Prestige difference. This is crucial: the base must be entered in order to trigger the Prestige refund. If your base is not loaded, then the refund will not happen until someone enters it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    SOURCE: Link

    [/ QUOTE ]

I too was going to give my little base a going over so wasnt hugely bothered, but I could see (from the size of the Echelon base) just how bad it would be for some so fantastic news for those of you with mahoosive bases.

    Tea and crumpets all round!

    [EDIT] from the same source
    [ QUOTE ]
Teleporter recipes: The Rare salvage requirement on these should be removed in the next patch.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seems to be some sneaky good news also
  6. I too was suprised when at Omega Sektor with some of the echelonians (hours before its closure, which had nothing to do with me but I did see Mr Nice smirking as we left) as to just how nice it looks with everything turned up 11. My Fire blaster looked fantastic bouncing around with flames galore.
In some respects I wish I'd never seen it looking that nice as it now looks even worse on my tired old machine

    [ QUOTE ]
I was going to ask for anything, I'd ask for a slight concept shift from the devs about DA - remove the fog, but lock it to an eternal moonlight night...

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd forgotten all about that, yes bring back unfoggy DA, it looked miles better
  7. Know you're all sorted now that man but just in case anyone was wondering Standoff had it in one when he said:
    [ QUOTE ]

Edit: Actually, it might be feasible to delete the telepads and rooms now, then rebuild (but not place) the telepads using the existing base salvage rules. Then make the cheap room and place the pre-built pads in it once I13's live. Anyone know if this is doable?

    [/ QUOTE ]

as myself and winterflare were discussing in the other thread stockpiling half a dozen teleporters or so just in case.

    [ QUOTE ]
    * Any CRAFTED item that HAS NOT changed in placement price (teleporters) that you presently have stockpiled can be held on to for later placement. They will still work.

    Whirling sword is [censored].

    [/ QUOTE ]

I respectfully disagree with the remarks of the previous speaker
I've always found Whirling sword to be a great little power, mixed with slice its always seemed to me to put out a respectable amount of AoE damage plus you can stick in the AH and Lady Grey procs if you were that way inclined.

I'd also imagine since you want to be surrounded by mobs anyway being WP and to enjoy the benefit of Parrys +Def having slice and Whirling sword would make some sense since you can chip away at minions while hacking away at a boss etc.

Unless we're talking PVP in which case I got no clue.. *wanders off aimlessly to drink tea*

No idea what, if any the xp was like but if I recall correctly the INF/Prestige from the dropship was what the good lord would call "poxy"

Good job organising Ommy and great fun it was too cheers to all we had one drop but Team Ted (Severance) at time of ship drop was:

    Ennexa
    Nocturama
    Sanguine Boost
    Rodeo Rose
    Biggy Taxx
    Shrike's Dad
    Prickly

So ta to all and sorry if I was a bit quiet, was busy looking after the present Mrs Maul who is no doubt feigning illness for attention

    Almost...there...
    ....and Boom goes the dynamite

and compressed below my normal 10 minute telling time:
A Man is walking along the road and he bumps into a man with an orange for a head.

"My God. How did you get that orange head?" he asked.
"Well, it's a long convoluted story.........." replied the man.
    "Do Tell."
"OK. Well I was walking down this road a couple of days ago when I came across this lamp. Adhearing to traditional Joke format I rubbed it and, suprisingly enough, a genie appeared and granted me three wishes."
"How suspiciously unsuprising, What did you wish for?"
"Well, my first wish was for all the money I could ever need..."
    "Did you get it?"
"Of course, gasp at the size of my wallet. My second wish was to have all the women I could ever need to fulfil all my fantasies..."
"Wow! Amazing! What was your third wish then?"
"To have an orange for a head..."

Hey Ommy, Sorry I missed Red-side but hopefully you got the PM and the RL Reasoning. Unless something unpleasant happens I shall catch you for this as planned.

10 bars of double experience in all his career? Or for every period of inactivity?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe its for every period of inactivity so that if you were offline for a year you won't get eleventy million* bars of double xp

    * could not be bothered to work out exactly how much DXP would come from a year offline :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats how I read it too. Altough being off line for a year would give you 365 bars, being that it's 1 bar for 24 hours.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*Cough* er.... maybe 365 bars where your maths comes from but my calculator says eleventy million :P

  18. [ QUOTE ]
I know many people wont mind, but I suspect some will.

Perviously the relatively small xp bonus and an SO would be nothing to shout about.

However, 5 merits would count towards (say) 2.5% of a Miracle +Recovery Recipe. They go for about 50 million at bare minimum. 5 merits is thus around 1.25 million influence. Thats an awful lot more than the aproximate bonus of around 100k tops you get at the moment. And thats just considering level 50.

To my mind a reasonable solution would be 1 merit to every team member completing the last mission of the arc.

Ouroborous missions, keep the same system.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But if 5 merits are worth 1,250,000 inf then 1 is worth 250,000 so a team member can join for the final mission of an arc and gain a quarter of a million infs worth of merits for finishing one mission where as the arc owner who has worked on the whole arc gets the same?

I think the SO's given as a reward for completing an arc were desirable before inventions came along. Inventions have rendered them worthless and therefore the arc reward needed updating for the game post i9 I think that merits have given the devs the tools to give suitable rewards as I would imagine the only other thing they could have done was give a recipe which opens up a whole other kettle of fish of risk/time vs reward.
  19. But Merits do not equal xp how are all these people soloing their way through the game gonna level as quickly? Patrol bonus? Rolling an easy to solo toon? but then this would become an argument about those features and ease of soloing not merits.

At the moment the person who owns the story arc gets a reward on completion, an SO and an XP/Inf bonus as well, now the SO has been practically useless for some time now but that's a tangible reward the rest of the team haven't been getting for an age. I believe that merits for arcs give this reward a much needed boost post i9 etc. It also allows people to gain merits who may not be able to run TF's as frequently as they like. Keep 'em I say
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I see in the US post linked above, that it is only the mission owner who currently gets the merits in the version on test.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hope that's a bug. If that's working as intended it'll turn this into a single player game overnight.

    "Want to team?"
"Maybe, what do I get out of it?"
    "Er, nothing"
    ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's where you have it completly wrong though. You are treating merits like they are the only reward in the game, not a very minor one, much less significant than xp or inf.

If merits are all you are interested in, you will just do TFs, they give far more merits per hour than story arcs, the system is heavily weighted that way.

The story arc merits are simply there for people who are unable to do TFs for whatever reason.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed, and as its not like anyone other than the mission owner gets rewards at the end of the arc at the moment Its them that get the xp/inf bonus and the *admittedly useless* SO at least as far as I know anyway.

Besides unlike a TF a story arc can be joined in with at any time, not very fair to the arc owner if they slog through the whole thing then someone who joins them for the last mission gets the same reward as them. I think that its the fairest way they could do it.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Fair enough; this wasn't really intended to go into the big details of it all, just a basic Q&A guide while it's just been on test last night. An updated, more precise guide, will be created soon.

For now, you can either go to this thread or the linked one over in US...I guess this is more a beginner's guide to the Levelling Pact, rather than a deep, number-filled guide.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did you even read the page on the American forum? You're selling it short to describe it as a deep number filled guide its a few paragraphs. Granted its missing a bit on quitting but then so is your "guide"
  22. Current Base Salvage & Components can be converted to "Brainstorm" salvage which can then be converted into random invention salvage.. here
  23. I'm quite liking the price drops and the rent changes seem a little more manageable but I really dont see how they've made salvage/components etc any less confusing
    [ QUOTE ]

Not that I think the invention salvage elimination was needed, or even an improvement.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I agree eleventyhundred percent

Cende on the American Forums made quite a nice concise post regarding some of the salvage and rent changes.

    [ QUOTE ]
    * Any CRAFTED item that HAS NOT changed in placement price (teleporters) that you presently have stockpiled can be held on to for later placement. They will still work.

    * Any CRAFTED item that HAS changed in placement price (most energy control second tier or higher items) that are made with BASE salvage will be placed at the OLD price. If they are made with INVENTION salvage, they will be placed at the NEW price. Both version will work.

    * Salvage racks are converted AUTOMATICALLY. You don't get to choose to not replace your salvage racks. However, items in the salvage racks are safe. You can take things out, but you cannot put things back in until the number of items in the rack drops back under 30.

    * It does not cost influence to convert base salvage to brainstorms, or brainstorms to invention salvage.

    * The amount of upkeep each item costs may be found in that item's INFO tab.

Known Items (cost is per EACH):

    Workshop:
    * the Invention table and the basic work tables: 0 prestige
    * All storage items, advanced tables and expert work tables: 100 prestige
    * tier 2 empowerments station: 200 prestige
    * tier 3 empowerment stations: 300 prestige

    - I believe the Vault is included as a storage item for prestige as well as towards your total storage limit.

    Medical:
    * Basic reclaimator: 0 prestige
    * Robo-surgeon / Spirit Signal: 100 prestige

    - I *think* the Auto-Doc (and arcane version) costs 100 prestige. Combat Logs (and equiv. arcane) will probably, as well, but I don't have a way of knowing.

    Transport:
    * No costs for beacons or porters

    Energy:

I thought I saw something about cost for auxes, but I don't recall where. Also, batteries?

    Control:

Again, possibly auxes, but I haven't had a chance to check.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since I still got a ton of salvage I think I may craft a couple of teleporters now to carry over to the changes with me since their price stays unchanged
  24. The one thing I have been waiting for since announced is some details of the new prices for bases, as someone with a small personal SG with about 2 mill prestige I've been looking forward to forgetting the down side to base changes see what I can expand it to.
Some very nice person American side has made a pretty comprehensive guide and I thought maybe theres people out there who dont wander states-side when bored and I'd chuck the link here

PlasmaStreams guide to i13 Base costs

Not had a chance to peruse fully as it is very comprehensive but the supercomputer dropping from 1.5 mill to 500k is very exciting
  25. But the way the xp is shared out is not that simple is it?
The whole idea is that you give 50% of your earned xp to your partner, if you are both on the same team it means you give each other 50% of the xp earned and receive your 50% as normal and level at "normal" speed. If only one member of your pact is online then they will continue sharing xp but while not receiving xp from a partner you will level at "half" speed.

And you can quit a level pact whenever you like but will not be able to rejoin if you're higher than level 5(which is the cap for starting a level pact).

Now thats what I just picked up after 15 minutes or so of looking for level pact information. Now I'm not trying to write a guide but if I were I'd at least try looking for information first. Now If someone was seriously trying to find out some concrete information on Level Pacts I'd head over HERE where one of our Colonial Cousins has actually compiled some nice and accurate information on i13.
