  2. Ok, shoddy example on my part.

It was just a suggestion. Perhaps adding certain de-buffs to the Rapier path, to show the fact, if used right, its good at fast fighting? Things that add certain advantages but give disadvantages too (such as less damage)

Another example for something like blasters, have a path that specialises in mass AoE, and another that focuses on Single target attacks. Thinks that allow more choice and more diversity? Again, ideas and speculation.

Well, that's your opinion. I was simply giving my opinion, which is fairly well educated, but an opinion nonetheless.

My opinion is also that calling the development team 'lame' is a direct insult, no matter how many cheeky little smilies you glue on it. So please quit with the name calling.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now, this is what I mean. You might not have meant it as an insult, but the way you worded it seems to suggest that, by dint, Im uneducated, or stupid. Which Isnt particularly fair.

As to the 'lame', well, alright. I take that back, considering I wrote that in a fairly shoddy mood. So, I guess we just wait and see if they include walk or not. Given it actually comes up when typed as [Walk] it may be a matter of time. Especially as CO has (apparently) got it nailed. If not, it'll be a crying shame, but hey.

Then you just unlock it and leave. >_>

    [/ QUOTE ]
then the lock fails if you can unlock it -_-....

    [/ QUOTE ]

The point was it was a lock you engaged yourself. To avoid *accidentally* doing something you didnt mean to do, in this case leaving a channel. Its the same sort of thing they have on the delete button, saying 'Are you sure?' Thats a fail too, going by your logic
  5. Musing on how to achieve the 'variation' that is sought after a lot, and came up with this idea.

Specialisations for powersets. Uncertain wether a certain level would unlock them, like with VEATS, or have the options open from the start. Possibly from the start, to allow a degree of mixing.

    For example; Sword

    Broadsword
    Rapier
    Two-handed sword

Broadsword pretty much as it is at present. Rapier would be faster and more accurate, with less damage. Two handed would be slower attacks with more damage, maybe added critical chances or such.

Unsure how or even if that principal could be extended to other powers. I suppose VEATs are quite a good model to use. One jack-of-all-trades, two specialists in specifics.

Pros; Diversity, more options, far more variety. Varying play styles.

Cons; Major overhaul. As in, entire issue sized. Would require new models, animations, costume parts for weapons, tons of new numbers and suchnot, plus the mechanics.

So, only a possibility if CoX2 became reality. Still...any views to throw at that?
  6. What Dragon said
It would be nice as an option. As I said, this is suggested to stop accidental leaving, and the hassle it can involve.

He isn't arrogant, he just knows what he is talking about.

You are arrogant, in assuming you understand better than the developers, and the experienced programmers on this forum, what would be required in making a walk animation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hardly. As I say, and in fact said, all of it was Opinion. I don't know as cold hard fact. If I did, I wouldnt need an opinion on it.

If anyone would care to explain how hard/easy it is, please feel free. I want to go into animation after all =P

    [ QUOTE ]
Hmm, using the midnight club approach might work yes.

How would you like to have tailors that could make some pieces of clothing but not everything?

For example Cimeroran could make the Roman clothing including proper Roman Civilian clothing but not much else. As yes spandex and hi tech armor is beyond their capabilities. Though I am sure they could cobble something up that would have a similar look if they want.

The normal tailors would struggle to get the Roman stuff right.

The tailor in Pocket D could do winter and valentine event clothing cheaper then a normal tailor would.

We could have different tailors for the special ad on packs. Like the bridal shop or the meat doctor for the cyborg pieces.

Good ideas...but im now waiting for people to voice the technical difficulties of siad ideas =P

You don't need to be psychic to know that Ravenswing is an experienced programmer: he knows how hard apparently simple things can be.

And you don't need to be a genius to figure out that if a feature is frequently requested, but hasn't been implemented, then there is a good chance that is because it is not a simple as you think it is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dont need to be either to notice that a lot of his stuff sounds rather arrogant, if not downright rude at times too I dont pretend to be all knowing about stuff. Im merely stating an opinion. To get a load of grief back isn't a very joysome exerience.

But hey. That is, after all, an opinion. I could be barking up completely the wrong tree. And the above isnt meant to be offensive, its just an observation. If it sounds otherwise, blame the stinking illness I have right now Merry Christmas...

Done that more times than I care to admit (and it's a bother because I'm Op for a few of them >_&lt. What I find now works is to create a tab other than the Global one where I stick a second copy of the channels. That way, if I delete Global again (as I'm known to do) at least I don't loose the channels. Yay!

Also, I approve of this idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thirded.

1 Problem though, if someone needs to be removed from that channel for misconduct etc etc, and they use the lock channel option, then the only thing you can do is a perma silence. I for one, would rather remove them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Thats why its only a lock so that the Player X cannot delete the channel from his tab by accident. So he himself doesnt accidently click 'leave channel'.
If Player M is the mod, and kicks him from the channel, he gets kicked =P

Then its about time they made it work. Sorry, but if you bump out on a bigger development team and more kit and suchnot, and *then* say you cant even adapt an NPC feature to work for PCs? Quite lame, really.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I thought you understood why I get irrate when people make statements like that?

    [ QUOTE ]
Besides, does that apply for all the emotes the NPCs use but we cant? The lying down ones and such?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No, actually.

PRAF did an excellent post on the problem. It's to do with the difference between walking and running. Walking involves a pendulum movement of the legs, which means that the pace changes with the overall height of the model, and the length of the legs.

    [ QUOTE ]
And, on the issue of Scaling, nearly all NPCs use it, and thats in every shape and size.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really, because I've never seen any. Males are male height, females are female height. There are some tall thin Council, and shorter Council, but only the two basic frames. You do not get Council in all heights from 4-foot to 8-foot, all with independently variable leg lengths.

So, no, it's nothing like variable scaling.

    [ QUOTE ]
I dont pretend to know how hard or easy it is, but thats the whole *point* of a development team.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But you do think it's 'quite lame' that they can't change the baseline animation code just so you can have a walk that looks right on your character? (No, I don't know that's what's required either, but I suspect if something like that wasn't required, we would have had walking by now.)

I want walking just as much as you, maybe more, I dunno. However, I'm not going to put my name to a thread that demands that NCNC stop what they're doing and go all out to get a walk animation functioning on PCs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1. No, I dont know. Im not psychic. (Around here, Im glad of that )

Im not going to rage about it because, although Id love it in game, I do appreciate the fact that its when and if the designers get round to doing it. Im just voicing the opinion that, of all the things they can do, something like this *shouldnt* be/ might not be a really big challange. Who knows, maybe its like trying to get a straight answer out of a Politician

    Ah, but its *magical* spandex...
Who the hells wears spandex when they can have shiny armour plating?
  13. Uhmm....no, really?
Imperious = Statesman. He even has the same faceplate.
    The Sybil = Sister Psyche
    Deady = Positron
Sister whatsername (new villain one) = Ghostwidow

    Thats kinda the whole point.

I remember the days of debt at lvl 10

    [/ QUOTE ]

I feel old I remember debt at level 5. Just in time for the hollows to loom into view.

    [ QUOTE ]
Does it reflect bad on me that my mains still can't play in any setting but the lowest one, I can't take down an EB with any of them and I still find the game quite hard when playing with them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Depends on what your mains are. I have 2 level 50 blasters. one AR/Dev and the other Fire/Fire. the AR/Dev struggles at times against Heroic. The Fire/Fire runs on Unyielding so that she gets a challenge. To me this is a gross mis-balancing of the powersets.

In general I would say that the game is considerably more forgiving than it used to be. I can remember letting the noobs in the team rush in for the alpha so that I didn't faceplant. Now I am the noob leading the charge. So I die, so what. Any and all debt is usually paid off by the next spawn. With the addition of the low level travel powers gained via the radio missions there is less chance of getting creamed on the way to a mission. So things like the aggro radius that enemies have isn't learnt by new players. I used to think it a challenge to cross the gultch at level 5 dodging the enemies so I didn't go splat. Now I just hit kings, do the missions and get the flight pack. Then go to the hollows.

    [ QUOTE ]
Would the easiest way of making it harder without putting some people off be to add a new level of difficulty above Invincible

    [/ QUOTE ]

But what would it add? more enemies? Higher level enemies? I know my MA/Regen can handle +5 bosses with little problem. Just to push my luck I rushed a fake nemesis and a warhulk both +5 to me. I kicked them all round PI and reaped the XP.

What we really need is better AI, I know it is a lot more work than just slapping more HP and a higher level on enemies, which is the usual response. Imaging the scene. An empath, a stone tanker, a blaster and a scrapper all go after a fake nemesis. The nemesis sees them coming and fires his knockback blast at the defender. the tanker taunts and he moves away from the tanker, who lumbers after him. He then recovers from the taunt and nails the blaster with a knockback. Seeing that the scrapper is about to crash in unstoppable he targets the scrapper and plants a good one on him, down goes the scrapper. The tanker taunts and the FN is off dodging again. The defender goes to rez the scrapper and the FN nails him with knockdown again. etc. etc. Ok I know that is not really how it would go, but wouldn'y it be nice if the enemies had other responses other than run at, hit, hit, hit, hit. or stand still, shoot, shoot, shoot. As other responses what about.

Panic. One of the groups is one shotted. A minon takes off to get help, while the rest do delaying tactics to let them escape.
Fall Back. The enemy falls back towards the next spawn. Attempting to either draw it out into a ranged battle or to get you to trigger the next spawn.
Tanker return. The enemy taunts you. You rush a white dwarf and it uses its taunt and pulls in the heroes.
Delaying tactics. Enemies throw down things like burn, ignite, caltrops, quicksand and then withdraw. The same as heroes do.
Rush em. The leader of a spawn (boss possibly) picks a random target and the whole spawn rushes them. This would be after the alpha so it would be an OMGWTFBBQ!!! moment.

By the way, yes, these are designed to get people killed. Teams with charge, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, rez, hit, hit, hit, rez as tactics will find themselves getting hurt a lot more.

Also how about varying the powers that the enemies use as well? At present every hellion scorcher has the same powers. Don't they know about ED?

Or missions that actually require you to not wipeout everything moving, but infact give penalties if you try to. These could be more fun to deliberately fail as well. So you need to access a machine without destroying it. If it goes boom, you get increasing size waves of enemies coming to find out why the machine went boom. All you need to do is escape. Combine this with enemies throwing caltrops and you have a nasty mission, or some serious slaughtering fun. Have it be a maximum of N waves ending in an EB. When the team exit it is MISSION FAILED! so there is no farming chance there.

    Want Mission Maker.. Want!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I LIKE that! A lot. Better AI would be really nice, pets included. I15 overhaul plz?

Hopefully something like this might be possible, seeing as NC are now banging on about how the impossible is now possible. It would certainly be nice if they overhauled pet and hostage AI, as at the moment there are so many tripey moments in it.
  15. Some sort of feature to 'lock' a channel that you are part of, so that you dont leave it by accident. Done this a couple of times now with one channel, and seeing as its a private one, I need people online for a re-invite...and, seeing as I can no longer see the Channel members list, that just got somewhat tricky =[

    Thanks indeedy.

Walk animations for anyone (player or NPC) is QoL and not exactly essential then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They dont need to do a whole issue for the blooming things. They could simply add a ton of emotes in a patch. They dont have to limit content to entire Issues, just really big things like Architecht and suchnot.

Thats because someone came up with the bright idea of making all the NPCs fliping massive. None of them, bar the occasional and surprising midget, is under 6 foot.
  21. I agree with Raven on this one (god help me )

The game still has a lot to occupy me from 1 to 50. Thing is, I dont have the TIME to play all the time. I also tend to alt around a lot, and vary things.

I dont want to have to languish for ever on low levels. I like being able to make progress. There still ARE bits that are hard, and maybe a few things do need tweaking. But its far from broken. And making things really tough...thats an incentive for people how?

If anything, they should allow some sort of 'After' mode. for lvl 50s, some sort of thing to keep them occupied and more interesting. Maybe things that can only be unlocked at 50, 50's only zones and suchnot. Just ideas.
  22. 1. Repair of the main Servers/upgrades. We have tolerated horrendous lag and desyncs long enough
    2. A ton more emotes and things like walk. Many more costume parts, animated parts, better faces and hair and suchnot.
    3. Graphics update.
    4. Missions Architecht and gubbins
    5. Any more goodies that come up.

Oh, and the valkyrie pack, ASAP =P I want them armours!
  23. I've had a few comments on my angels costume, which is nice. Mostly, though, I run along tech and/or armoured themes. None of mine are particularly original, as such, although they do fit the character well.

Saw some very good zulu/voodoo ones recently, with the shields coming out. If we got even more flexibility with the creator, I think we'd see even greater results =P
