Really creative costumes?

Sort of a carry-on from this thread over in creative.

I've been running for the title of 'Mr. Rogue Isles' over in the US, and what mostly struck me about a lot of the costumes was how unoriginal they can be.

All too often I've seen costume contests won by people using , say, all 'Justice' parts; to my mind that's not really creative at all; the developers should get a prize for implementing a really good-looking costume part. They can look fantastic, and use of colour/accessories can bring it to life; but it needs imagination and a concept.

What I like to see is original, creative thinking in a costume; putting costume pieces together to a concept that looks good, co-ordinates well, and brings something new to the table.

Seen any costumes that gave you a WITOTF (Wish I'd Thought Of That First) moment?

My top 3:
Psygon's Candy Cold 'retro' costume (far right)
Novastar's Captain Andromeda costume
and Mos Vox (third from left).

I'm jealous of the people who can make really great costumes. I either don't have the imagination or the time to really create something unique. I also almost never take screenshots so can't show anything.

Join the club - most of my costumes are amalgams of things I've seen on other toons and thought 'oooh, shiny'. Costumes are the only reason I take screenies now - it's automatic. See a good cossie>Finger hits printscreen.

I've had a few comments on my angels costume, which is nice. Mostly, though, I run along tech and/or armoured themes. None of mine are particularly original, as such, although they do fit the character well.

Saw some very good zulu/voodoo ones recently, with the shields coming out. If we got even more flexibility with the creator, I think we'd see even greater results =P

Well, although I've never had a WITOTF moment, I still love seeing other peoples outfits

That, in part, keeps the game fresh for me. If every level 50 (80) wore the same hat (magical hat of mole smiting +7) in the same colour (brown) it'd be a pretty dull game.

*shrug* I wouldn't know if any of my costumes are truly inspirational, but what I do make sure of is that they're solid designs. No jarring mismatches of parts and complimenting colours.

Unfortunately the costumes I make don't seem to matter much. I seem to be the only person who creates eight foot tall women, so they're too busy commenting on that instead.

I've always been in awe of anyone who can do a truly awesome cossie because, well, I'm bloody awful at it

I think I've managed 1, maybe 2 decent cossies in my entire time playing this game

Psygon has always been one of, if not THE best cossie makers in the game that I know. Some of the Femme's are also excellent, Pyra (come back P!!) was aw4esome at them, Snowie does some crakcers as well

Anf Fire Guardian was brilliant at them, but in a sort of negative-revers-bloody awful cossie way as well

I wish there was an easier way for us to showcase our costumes, I'd like to know what you all would think of some of the ones I've done, though none are on par with that Mos Vox one.

Mos Vox's cxostume is really clever... but I reckon it could do with some tweaking. There was a bit of a clipping issue around the belt, for instance. I think the concept could be taken further and improved upon. By someone with the Cyborg pack, anyway.

Can't you just take a screenshot of your avatar selection screen?

It'd be nice to not have to bother doing that. If the whole web published character data goes ahead, an autoportrait feature'd be bangin'.

Its one of the reasons i like going to/holding cossie comps To me, the costume is the factor that keeps a character going. If the costume isnt good, the character isnt good and wont be played long!

So many of my costumes are influenced by other characters iv seen but modified a bit.

I know at least one person who seems to be unable to make anything under 7 foot tall, and Fanservice_girl has Soaring Horizon, who's neck straining.

Problem I have with tall characters is that they do tend to get stuck going down low corridors - or, rather, low caverns...

Naturally, those abom... erm... classics we made will be remembered in the annals of CoH history. In fact, I heard tell of there being statues commissioned to replace that dude in the middle of Steel Canyon.

Two of the people I play with are into costumes.... sadly the ones they make often leave the viewer with long term sickness and runy stools... and once my eyes bled too.

Thats because someone came up with the bright idea of making all the NPCs fliping massive. None of them, bar the occasional and surprising midget, is under 6 foot.

Yeah - I'm like 5 feet 5 and a half/five feet 6, but I had to make my avatar over 6 feet just to look normal in this land of giants

I'm never really any good at creating a costumes for my toons. Though I have had good comments on a few I've made.
These two in particular.

Epimethius. His main costume.
Slice and Carry. Roman gladiator costume.

If I ever see a good costume I usually compliment the player. I use to do a lot of costume competitions red side. Been a while since I have. But thinking of doing one blue side on Christmas day.
